The Sims Freeplay- French Romance Live Event

Early Access to Beta Provided by EA/ Firemonkeys- may differ from actual version

THIS EVENT IS NOW OVER

ONCE THE 12 DAY TIME LIMIT IS UP YOU WILL HAVE 3 DAYS TO PURCHASE ANY PACKS YOU HAVE LEFT you will not be able to collect anymore arts and crafts items or coins, you have to use the resources you have, if you don’t have enough resources all you can do is use social points to buy the requirements or wait until the event returns!

This is a new type of event called a live event- it is very similar to a community event but this time you don’t need help from everyone who plays the sims freeplay to unlock the prizes, there are only personal prizes this time! You firstly need to update your game for this event to appear

This event is only here for 12 days and the aim of it is to collect enough arts and crafts items from the arts and crafts stations (found in the event tab of buy mode) to unlock all the items in this event

NOTE: this post was created using the early access version of the game- things may be different in the actual version so I will be updating this post as I complete the event!

Place a crafting station (find the candle station in the events tab of buy mode- you can only buy 4)

Make some arts and crafts items (click on the candle station to make)- 23 seconds

This takes you to the prize progress tab (you can get to it by clicking on the french romance heart event button in the corner of the screen)

Here you will see you have collected enough items to unlock the mood lighting! You will still need to buy the pack with the items before they will be available in your home store- which is one of the goals coming up! (keep reading for information on all prizes!)

Restock a crafting station (when the stock runs out you will have to restock before you can make anymore arts and crafts items)- You can restock instantly for 14 uses for 10SPs or restock for 2 uses which will take 10 seconds this time

Buy the mood lighting pack (click on the french romance event button, scroll down and click purchase- this will cost you 50 candles)

Use a coin flower patch (buy the coin flower patch from the event tab and select the spin plant option)

Check the daily goals (click on the french romance event button and find the daily goals tab- claim the ones you can!

Remember to claim your rewards each day!

Collect bonuses (while collecting after a certain amount of time you will see the arts and crafts item appear above that sims head, click to collect the bonus item!)

Continue collecting arts and crafts items- this is the last step but the event is not over, keep collecting the arts and crafts to unlock everything!

If you want to speed up a collecting arts and crafts action it will cost you SPs, you will get the bonus gems as well if you speed it up!

House Tour Video- French Chateau:

I am sooooo in love with this château! How beautiful is it?! 🙂 I really hope I complete this event to win it!

Good Luck Everyone!

Constructor Coins

You earn constructor coins by:

Personal Progress prizes

Completing Daily Goals

Coin Plant Patches

Earning Construtor Coins? Previously on these events I used social points on the Mega Spin Plant to win constructor points. I earn social points by completing the cooking hobby and earning LPs, I can then turn the LPs into SPs using the social point plant on a normal garden patch- this was when it cost 5LPs- the social point plant now costs 20LPs so you may want to try the option below first instead:

Or you can use 450 candles for the Spin Plant (a good way to use up any spare candles) which will also earn you constructor coins but the amounts are less than they are from the Mega Spin Plant

Laura Craft? You may have noticed at the front of one of your houses there is a board with a bubble of a person holding arts and crafts items above it, this is Laura Craft, you can buy her for real money to help you complete the event. When you buy her, you select the item you want her to make from the options: 480 candles,  720 pottery, 1080 jewelry or  1190 glassware (the amounts seem to differ for most of you and I have no idea why that is!) (you will unlock all the options once you have unlocked all the stations) and you will be able to collect them after 8 hours.

Thank you for everyone who let me know what Laura Craft does!

Do I think she is worth it? Definitely not! If she made constructor coins too then maybe but I’m really struggling to see how she is a good investment- even if I could afford her! I am actually shocked at how many people brought her before even knowing what she did!!

THIS EVENT IS NOW OVER

Once the event is over you earn simoleons for any of the resources you have left over which is quite a nice surprise!

  1. Hi. Thanks so much for your blog. Have you or anyone else noticed that the items (candles, bracelets, etc.) required for each furniture pack is different? For example, I need 8,250 pots, 8,250 bracelets, 9,350 glass jugs, 138 CP to buy the ooo la living room set. That’s more than what my friend who’s also playing needs and is different from what you show on your blog. So the total number of items I need to finish is higher! Any idea as to why that is? I don’t have a beta version or anything. Thank you!!

    • It seems like they didn’t change the amounts from the early access for some players as on the early access version I needed more than in the actual version! If you can, screenshot your amounts and contact EA about it as its not fair that you need more!

  2. So, I guess I’m in the minority : I’ve been doing pretty well getting constructor coins and shouldn’t have a problem making it through the event for those. The issue I’m having, however, is collecting enough glassware. Since I’m only allowed two glassware stations, I don’t see any way that I’ll be able to collect enough, even though I have all the stations being worked almost constantly. Any tips?

  3. Hey! Um, I just picked up the game again, (after a year of not playing it when my level 20-or-so game was erased), and I only have 2 days and 10 hours to complete it. Do I have any hope of completing it in time?

    • Well I’m struggling with the full 12 days so unless you have thousands of SPs you probably won’t manage it but don’t worry too much as these events usually return!

      • When the event returns do you stay at the level you’re at with it. I’m 4/5 through it, but I worked out I still have to make 80000 or so items in 35hours. So when it comes back is that all I’d have to make to get the châteaux?

      • Yes that is correct, when the event returns you will keep the prizes you have already unlocked but the resources won’t carry over from the event this time.

  4. Just want your opinion. I have an hour left, I’ve spun all my candles away and I’m short of CC’s by about 130. I have 510 social points to spare. Should I mega spin or save them and purchase the last thing I’m missing? Seems like I remember the cost to purchase things with sp’s after the event ended was ridiculously high. Do you think I will have enough sp’s to buy the last item?

  5. I apologize for the long post but I think I have valuable information for you and other players. Edit at will, of course.

I’ve had mixed good and bad luck with this event. I switch between playing on my iPad and my iPhone in my primary game, depending on where I am. I’m careful to save every time I exit the game, plus I save every time I make progress, such as at the end of each 2.5 hours of making crafts, plus I have all adults, teens and preteens not involved in crafting, diving in 10 minute dives to continuously earn LP’s (to be used for earning more Constructor Coins). So every time I fill the diving task requirement and earn 3 LP’s I save then, also. So that’s not a problem.

Two days ago I goofed and forgot to download the last saved progress onto my iPhone before I left home, realized it right away, and thought I’d try moving forward with the CC spin flower to see if the results were any better than I’d gotten earlier on my iPad and voila! I got three grasshoppers, which was better than what I’d received an hour earlier on my iPad. So I went ahead and kept that result instead, and proceeded with that version of the game. That was good.

The bad luck is that this morning, with 23 hours left to play, I decided to have one Sim working on earning SP’s doing the neighbor tasks, so that I’d have a chunk to use on the CC spin plant. I realized after doing 3 tasks that no SPs were being awarded. Glitch! I further discovered that the same problem exists on a second version of the game I’m playing on an old iPhone. Thus the problem is with the app, not my devices or my game. I also tried deleting and reinstalling, but no joy. So no points are being awarded for neighborhood tasks at all! This can’t be a policy due to the Event currently taking place, as two days ago everything was fine. So I’ll report this to Firemonkeys. But beware, everyone, check to make sure you’re getting all the points you’ve earned for tasks!!!!!

****A final point: during the last event, after the previous update, my primary game lost points in the Professions when the upgrade was installed. A number of email exchanges with Firemonkeys later, they fixed the problem, awarded me a chunk of SP’s and upgraded my VIP status (a nice surprise). Since then, that game consistently tends to earn more points of any kind from the Spin Plants than I get on my secondary game, which has a substantially lower VIP level (I seldom spend money on the game. I’d never spend enough to get to the level Firemonkeys gave me). During this Event I’ve received at least 4 maximum possible number of points for spins (3 of the 3-grasshoppers and multiple 3-butterflies). I’d say this is either another glitch, or a purposeful result of having specific VIP levels. Not Fair! I’d like to know if you or anyone else has had this experience.

Currently I’ve stopped all crafting except candle making (to use to earn CCs), and all non-crafting Sims are slaving away at diving and the babies are banging away in their xylophones. I’ve only got 65 coins to go and 18 hours left to earn the chateau. I hate that we have to “restock” periodically. Wasted so many SPs on skipping that task.

Back to diving! And as always, thanks for your great blog, which has taught me so much!

    • EDIT TO LAST POST: Went back to game and suddenly the 3 missing points had appeared. Hooray! Must have been a server problem. I’ll take this as a warning to always make sure I get my points!

  6. I hate to complain but this is by far the hardest event I’ve ever did in the 5 years I’ve been playing 😫 I’ve been working non-stop on it since it began with 13 Sims on the crafts and the other 15 doing the cooking hobby for LP’s…and I’m not going to complete it. Every single time I spin for SP’s I’ve only gotten 3 except once when I got 20 and I’ve probably spun around 400 LP’s worth. And the most CC’s I got on a mega spin was 10. I have 23 hours left and I still need about 400 SP’s to finish so I’m pretty aggravated with it. I feel like they’re making it nearly impossible without spending actual cash and I’m just not going to do that. I hope it comes back soon…unless I end up deleting the game bc I’m that mad with it right now.

    • I completely agree with you! All the events recently have become impossible even though I play day and night, I cannot afford to spend loads of money on this game so I feel like I am being punished for that!

    • I actually did spend real cash and I’m still not going to win it! It is very disapointing to put 12 days of constant effort in and still not win. Why should I even try next event? It almost seems like a waste of time.

    • Totally agree with you! 😣

  7. I finished with two hours to spare. And I had downloaded the update almost immediately when it started. The only way I got enough was suffering insomnia a lot lately which meant I could do the two hour option all through the night as well. Really unreasonable timing, especially with such meagre SP rewards.

  8. Do you know if they will allow time to purchase the remaining resources as they have in the past? ie: I need social points in lieu of the cc short. Will I have time to use SP after the event is over, and if I use SP after the event is over to unlock the last item, will I still get the chateau?

By the way, I really found Laura Craft helpful. These events are way too tight on time; you either win or you have a life. Can’t do both… Wish EA would make the time available more realistic.

    • You have 3 days once the event is over to use up your resources or use social points, if you complete it in this time you will get the chateau.

I’d just rather spend £5 on lunch than on her 🙂

  9. Is anyone having better luck than me spinning for SP’s? I’m using the cooking hobby to earn LP’s and then spending 20 LP’s to spin for SP’s. And for the 11th time in a row I’ve only gotten 3 SP’s, the least you can get. I feel like I’m doing something wrong!

    • You aren’t doing anything wrong, it sounds like the game is just against you winning! I haven’t used the social flower since they upped the cost as it doesn’t seem fair anymore!

  10. Regarding this update, have you noticed the “reverse age” is now free?

  11. Hi! Thanks for all of your helpful tips. I’m worried that I haven’t enough time to complete the quest. I need lots of constructor coins mostly, and glass. Do you know if the chateau is available even if you do not complete the event on time?

  12. I’m done! I confess, I finally spent $1US to buy 10 SPs so that I could purchase the last bunch of goodies. Didn’t want to spend the rest of the night working on it!

But there was a nice surprise at the end that I haven’t seen mentioned here – I was credited thousands of Simoleons for the crafts I didn’t have to spend to finish, so that was nice. Did that happen for everyone who finished? I hope so.

What happens now with the crafting stations? Each one looks to be valued at S1000, so do we sell them or save them? I can’t see a crafting hobby on the list of adult hobbies.

In all honesty, if I hadn’t had the extra push provided by the VIP upgrade Firemonkeys gave me when my game was messed up last time, to VIP8, I might not have worked to the end, especially once I saw the “restocking ” requirement. I would have to spend over $2000US to increase my VIP level to VIP8 myself, and that’s not happening. I don’t mind the game being challenging, but don’t to be discouraged, either.

    • You could probably sell your stations if you completed the event, I would recommend those who haven’t completed just store them so they don’t have to rebuy them when the event comes back.

  13. !!!!!…HELP…!!!!! “The French Romance Live Event has ended but you can still unlock any available prize packs for the next 3 day.” But i cant click on any of the stations to continue !!! Can anyone HELP

  14. Hey,
The event ended and I couldn’t purchase 3 prizes due to lack of resources. So if the event returns in the future, will it give me the option to purchase those same 3 prizes and the Château or would I need to do the event all over again?

    • When the event returns you will be able to collect resources to purchase the prizes you have left, you will keep the prizes you have already unlocked but the resources won’t carry over from the event this time.

  15. Hi, I don’t think I’ll get everything in time to get the chateau. You’ve mentioned that the event will return. When it does, do I have to collect everything from scratch? Or will the items I’ve collected be counted the next time the event comes back?

    • When the event returns you will keep the prizes you have already unlocked but the resources you had left this time won’t carry to the event when it next becomes available.

  16. Well,as a more mature Simmer within 12 months of my 60th I have enjoyed this game for the past five years. Currently worth 478 million level 55 after all this time. My students and family know all about my alter ego in Sim town. Love it, or should I say past tense loved it. Some light relief between the days of teaching and marking.
Having spent the past 12 days diligently playing the game- spent my last 150SP on a gamble- now find that had I kept my SP I could have just waited and used them with the added allowance. No way can I do that in three days- 195 SP.
Three words- launch, kindle, window seem appropriate. .
So guys at EA and firemonkeys- whatever/ whoever you are- if the aim was to make Simmers buy credits to complete the game- it doesnt work. I n any case I could not do that due to some error so I could not purchase even if I wanted to..
So, all you are left with after all this time is a seriously hacked off Simmer, who have loved this game. No more. I am done now.
Girl who games- you are an awesome blogger, and I have followed your suggestions and help over the past few years. I was so delighted that your hard work was recognised by EA with your recent visit. Perhaps you could feedback that there must be some really hacked off Simmers out there.
I have never left a comment before, but consider this my first and last. Moving on from this game. It is not do-able in the time- what kind of person has to set alarms to meet the targets?
Thank you for all your efforts with your blogs- they are great . One less Simmer now to read them though.Good luck in ll you do- I suggest construct a real simtown with real money- much more profitable and less time wasting!

  17. Guys get real. Another stacked deck event from EA hoping you’ll spend money on their ‘free’ game. Don’t worry about completing, get all the building elements to build your own chateau, and done. As soon as I had the elements, I stopped, no money spent, no need for silly cheese tasting items. And a beautiful chateau being built by me, which is much more fun than the template 😉

    • I did the same thing. I was more concerned with getting the items to create the Chateau myself and I used it to remodel two homes. If I finish, I finish, if not. Okay. I am thinking of quitting at this point. I don’t want to spend anymore SP.

    • If I may, that here is the correct attitude. The event WILL return at some other point.

  18. I spent $5 on Laura and found her useful for candles. I don’t know that I would recommend her or buy such a perk again but I’m in a place financially where that’s not much money.

I did the cooking hobby like crazy and bought the SP flower with LPs – did this probably about five times. Today I won the 500SP jackpot. I have two hours left on the event where I am at and I need 226 coins to buy the last item and get the chateau. Now I can just ride it out and I’ll spend the SP to make up whatever when it’s over.

It was a hard event though. I’ll be thinking twice about the next one.

    • I bought Laura with just a few days left and wish I’d bought her earlier, just for the extra candles and glass – I might have made it if I’d had her earlier. I had every station running around the clock, picking up pretty much every 2.5 hrs except for sleeping, for all 12 days, and I ended up missing the fountain and therefore, the chateau, by about 6000 glass pitchers and 275 construction coins (frustrated that the last “cycle” of crafting wasn’t saved, too – lost whatever was being made while I slept last night, grr). Really, really want the chateau, but not going to shell out the $25 for SP that I would need. Not impressed with the way this event ran – the prizes are beautiful, but too many hoops and not enough time. Why couldn’t it be enough to just earn the prize level – why did we have to buy it, too, to get to the chateau?

  19. How often do these events return? I’m one prize away but I’m not willing to spend £20 on the SP needed to complete it!! But I won’t feel so bad if I’m likely to have another chance toget the chateau in the future.

  20. I have 1 day left and 177 CC’s to go! I hope I win, that’s all I have left. I’ve been slaving them with cooking and I’ve worked my way up to 140 SPs to make up for the requirements i don’t meet with candles. I pray I win because I’ve lost sleep, (didn’t do some important things yikes!) and slaved over this game! this was super hard

    • I finished with 8 hours to spare ! after grinding with the cooking for LPs I saved 200 LPs and SPs each for future use. I just started this game and the event came like a couple days after downloading and starting to play but if this is what events are like in future I might have to put this game down. So happy for this blog though! I’m a broke recent grad that only had time because I’m job hunting and struggling to find one. Depressing.

  21. Hey guys!
Can anybody tell me what hobby event is coming soon? I rushed to get to the game so I instantly closed the note but now I wanna know on which hobby I need to get my sim to lvl6 😦 Thanks in advance! 🙂

  22. I agree Anonymous, but that staircase would have been fabulous 😊

  23. Hey! I am reading your comments and I see I’ve been very lucky. I won French Chateau without spending real money and I slept all nights without waking up every 2,5 hour (I used 6,5 or 8,5 hour options). 2 days before event’s end I’ve been lucky with Spin Plant and I won 125 CC two times. Rest of CC I got from Spin Plant and Mega Spin since I spent a lot of LP. I had about 450 LP, and 80 SP when the event starts and I was cooking for 12 days so I think I might spent about 700 LP to get SP but it was worth it! I wrote this comment to show you that this is only game and If you’re lucky you might won this events without suffering from insomia and spending real money (for me it’s stupid, especially when I live in Poland and I need to spend much more PLN than € or $ when my salary is much lower). So if you don’t get lucky it doesn’t matter, it’s only a game. We should play to enjoy it. Not to get mad when the new event is coming on!

  24. And to think I started the event when there were only 3 days left 😔, luckily it gave me enough time to get the lamps, flooring/walls, and the doors/Windows, and I had collected more resources but it turned them into coins instead, why is that? if I had started it on the 12th day like I was meant to I probably would’ve gotten the house that I wanted so bad and the bookshelves 😭, that has been one of the very few events I’ve actually been interested in completing I hope it returns soon

  25. I feel burned by the game. I never have spent any money on it and I never plan to spend any money. Is it theoretically possible to win the French home (for free) without extremely “lucky” spins of the Constructor Coin patch? I never saw three grasshoppers in a row…and apparently I would’ve needed to see them multiple times. I unlocked all the prizes but didn’t have the resources to purchase the cheese barrel and fountain. It feels like a money grab by the company. That is their right, of course, but does anyone stand a real chance to win without spending money?

  26. In the house, the are beautiful railings. I can’t find them in my store. Are they available anywhere? After busting my butt trying to get this, when I do get it, the stairs aren’t one of the items? That is really sad.
