The Sims Freeplay- French Romance Live Event

ONCE THE 12 DAY TIME LIMIT IS UP YOU WILL HAVE 2 DAYS TO PURCHASE ANY PACKS YOU HAVE LEFT– you will not be able to collect anymore arts and crafts items or coins, you have to use the resources you have, if you don’t have enough resources all you can do is use social points to buy the requirements or wait until the event returns!

The french romance live event is back for 12 days, if you manage to complete in the time limit you will unlock the french chateau! If you completed this event last time it was available you will not get it again, if you started it last time but didn’t complete it you will start from where you got to last time, for example if you only had one prize pack left to buy you will only have to collect enough resources to buy that prize pack to complete the event.

If you didn’t start this event last time you will start from the beginning!

Live Events are very similar to a community event but you don’t need help from everyone who plays the sims freeplay to unlock the prizes, there are only personal prizes! If you haven’t already you need to update your game to the Halloween 2017 update for this event to appear

Check out my Guide to Completing Live Events (including tips!) HERE!

This event is only here for 12 days and the aim of it is to collect enough arts and crafts items from the arts and crafts stations (found in the event tab of buy mode) to unlock all the items in this event

NOTE: if you did another Live Event then you will find your arts and crafts stations in your inventory (or in the house you left them at) you will only be able to use the candle ones until you unlock the other stations in this event

Can’t find your arts and crafts stations? Click on the craft station in your event tab to get the option to find your station, it will take you to the house where your stations can be found!

IF YOU UNLOCKED ALL THE STATIONS LAST TIME THE FRENCH ROMANCE EVENT WAS AVAILABLE YOU WILL NOT HAVE TO UNLOCK THEM AGAIN THIS TIME, YOU CAN USE THEM STRAIGHT AWAY

Even if you did this event last time you will still get most of these goals:

Place a crafting station (find the candle station in the events tab of buy mode (or your inventory)- you can only buy 4)

Make some arts and crafts items (click on the candle station to make)- 23 seconds

This takes you to the prize progress tab (you can get to it by clicking on the french romance heart event button in the corner of the screen)

Here you will see you have collected enough items to unlock the mood lighting! (unless you unlocked this last time) You will still need to buy the pack with the items before they will be available in your home store- which is one of the goals coming up! (keep reading for information on all prizes!)

Restock a crafting station (when the stock runs out you will have to restock before you can make anymore arts and crafts items)- You can restock instantly for 18 uses for 10SPs or restock for 2 uses which will take 10 seconds this time

Buy the mood lighting pack (click on the french romance event button, scroll down and click purchase- this will cost you 50 candles) NOTE: you will not get this goal if you completed it in this event last time

Use a coin flower patch (buy the coin flower patch from the event tab and select the spin plant option)

Check the daily goals (click on the french romance event button and find the daily goals tab- claim the ones you can!)

Remember to claim your rewards each day!

Collect bonuses (while collecting after a certain amount of time you will see the arts and crafts item appear above that sims head, click to collect the bonus item!)

Continue collecting arts and crafts items- this is the last step but the event is not over, keep collecting the arts and crafts to unlock everything!

If you want to speed up a collecting arts and crafts action it will cost you SPs, you will get the bonus items as well if you speed it up!

House Tour Video- French Chateau:

I am sooooo in love with this château! How beautiful is it?! 🙂 I really hope I complete this event to win it this time!

Good Luck Everyone!

Constructor Coins

You earn constructor coins by:

Personal Progress prizes

Completing Daily Goals

Coin Plant Patches

Earning Construtor Coins? Previously on these events I used social points on the Mega Spin Plant to win constructor points. I earn social points by completing the cooking hobby and earning LPs, I can then turn the LPs into SPs using the social point plant on a normal garden patch- this was when it cost 5LPs- the social point plant now costs 20LPs so you may want to try the option below first instead:

Or you can use 450 candles for the Spin Plant (a good way to use up any spare candles) which will also earn you constructor coins but the amounts are less than they are from the Mega Spin Plant

What is the minimum and maximum amount of coins you can earn on the mega spin plant? The minimum is 10 and the maximum is 500

Laura Craft? You may have noticed at the front of one of your houses there is a board with a bubble of a person holding arts and crafts items above it, this is Laura Craft, you can buy her for real money to help you complete the event. When you buy her, you select the item you want her to make from the options: 200 candles,  300 pottery, 450 jewelry or 500 glassware (the amounts seem to differ for most of you and I have no idea why that is!) (you will unlock all the options once you have unlocked all the stations) and you will be able to collect them after 2 hours.

Do I think she is worth it? They have improved Laura Craft a lot since the first event (although it would be great if she made constructor coins) she used to be able to collect every 8 hours, they have now changed this to 2 hours so she is more useful now so if you are struggling then you may want to splash out and give her a try but remember you will only get her for this event, you will have to buy her again to use her for a live event in the future.

If I brought Laura Craft in the last event do I get her for free or do I have to buy her again? You have to buy her again for this event.

  1. Hi Magic, Is it possible to get the French Chateau without sacrificing sleep and using SP to restock stations?

    • This event isn’t easy! I wouldn’t really worry that much about trying to complete it first time by sacrificing sleep and using all your SPs as this is the second time this event has been available so just keep going and complete as much as you can as I am sure if enough people ask them they will bring it back again in the future for you to be able to complete the rest!

  2. I’m not able to access the live event tab, and r currently shows the “prince and the pocket sized princess” event in the task tab. It did say 12 days after I was notified for the French romance live event, but I’m not able to access the candle stations and the personal progress tab either. This seems to be some sort of bug, and I’ve contacted firemonkeys about it but I’m not sure what to do.

  3. If I don’t get everything in 12 days will I have the option to use the orange diamonds to get them?

  4. Thanks for your sharing!

  5. I am really sorry if this has been answered but when I read the comments, you say that I can to keep wht I unlocked when the event comes again right? But what I want to know is, if I unlocked the prizes but didnt purchase it, when the event comes again, will i still have the option to purchase it? Or will it be unlocked?

  6. How did you get so much social points? Can you be my neighbor also

    • I don’t, they aren’t screenshots from my game, I completed this event when it first came out on the early access version that EA provides me with so I can create the posts before the new updates are released.
Sorry but my game center is full so I cannot add anymore neighbours.

  7. Hey! I have started the event but I’m not sure if I get ready 😦
Do you think I can and have tips on how to do it quickly?
I really want to be clear !!

  8. Does this count as a discovery quest? The only other quest I’m currently doing besides this event is the multi story renovations quest, and it won’t let me click on anyone’s head to start a discovery quest!

  9. Do you think that it is actually possible for a newbie to complete this quest in time or should I suck it up and buy Laura

    • This event is difficult so probably not! I wouldn’t really worry that much about trying to complete it first time as this is the second time this event has been available so just keep going and complete as much as you can as I am sure if enough people ask them they will bring it back again in the future for you to be able to complete the rest!

  10. How likely is it that this event will return for a third time? Has that ever happened before?

I’ve worked out that statistically I won’t complete this event – I just started playing this game a week ago! I would be able to complete it at a slower pace over 2 events if I can continue where I left off.

My calculations showed that it is mathematically impossible to complete this in 12 days with a 40hr per week job and 8 hrs of sleep per night, even if I played every waking moment in between with 13 Sims available and a full bank of Simoleons. Who is their target audience???

PROOF: IF YOU CAN’T PLAY AS BELOW, DON’T WASTE ANYMORE TIME ON THE EVENT.
Candles example (13 Sims, enough $ from the start):
    90000 for purchases + 32400 (6 spins per day x 12) for coins = 122400 needed

    Minus 400 + 350 free candles per day x 12 (9000)
Minus 5460 candles for 9 nights (6.5 hrs)

    = 107940 / (250 + 75 bonus candles if collecting ALL day*) = 332.12

    / 4 Sims / 12 days * 2.5hrs = 17.3 hrs

= 17.5hrs continuous play + 6.5 hrs sleep with no realistic error. You’d STILL need to spend a lot of social points as it’s unlikely that you’ll get all the coins needed in 6 candle-based spins per day unless you’re really lucky, I haven’t allowed time for unlocking the station and mistakes will be made.

This brings me to another negative point – the game doesn’t reward players purely on merit of playing all day without error and sacrificing jobs and family interaction, but additionally based on RNG luck!

** Minus 25 minimum as even hardcore players will realistically miss some.

Events should be something to look forward to. I’ve happily spent money on games before, but I’ll uninstall this if events insist I shouldn’t have a job to earn that money in the first place. It’s reasonable that players should be able to succeed playing all evening and all weekends at least.

I don’t know how EA can sleep at night themselves, reading about players setting alarms every 2.5hrs at night for 12 nights of interrupted sleep.

Before I worked this out, as a new player I also missed out on a quest. I thought I’d prioritise on the Chateau as it was so beautiful and ended up losing both.

    • It hasn’t happened yet but they have just started bringing these events back for the second time although I think it is likely that a lot of players will want them to bring this one back again.
They definitely have not made this one any easier since the last time it was available which is a shame, this was one of the first live events so it was extremely difficult, the later ones they have made a bit easier as we all complained about how impossible they were (https://thegirlwhogames.blog/2017/02/12/the-sims-freeplay-impossible-events-arent-fun/)
You have some great feedback for them there, if you have facebook or twitter you might want to message the sims freeplay and let them know so hopefully next time they will make this one easier!

  11. Just curious – if I build the French chateau on a premium lot, will I be able to add a pool?

  12. I just want to know why I can’t hang the les herbes above the counter tops, I see it in other houses like that but when I try it’s red?

  13. I’m level 29 and am only one purchase away from completing it. I purchased one pack of SP’s (the 24$ one) and I used all the stations with every available sim I have. I did the 2.5 hour and restocked as needed without using my sp’s. I used my sp’s to use the mega plant to gain more constructor points which really seems to be the struggle. After completing the rewards with candles, I kept sims working on them and used them for the regular plant. Also, when I went to bed at night, I planned for when I would wake up and set the crafts for that time (some night I was only in bed for 6 hours versus 8 hours) I now have 3 days left to gain the remainder of constructor coins and I still need about 150. I have more sp’s that I’ve saved just in case I get close before the event ends and need to purchase the remaining reward. This is def a difficult challenge but I LOVED the house and it’s free so I’ve worked really hard with this one.

      • My house is building now! I do think if I had really stayed on top of it, I could’ve completed it without purchasing the extra SP’s as I still had quite a few left when I completed the event, but it was def difficult and I couldn’t really do anything else in the game during the 10 days it took me.

  14. this event has been the toughest i have ever had to take part in. i usually complete live events with days to spare, but this time around i am still stuck trying to collect my own chateau.

1535 constructor coins are not an easy catch and the coin flower patch isn’t helping either; i keep getting one or two constructor coins every time i spin. Oh well, its great that i have managed to collect enough candles, pottery, jewelry and glassware for the event, i guess i will just have to spend the next two days collecting candles to spin for coins…

i really hope they give us time to recover before we start the next event. i really need to catch up on my sleep before i can grind again.

    • They definitely have not made this one any easier since last time it was available which is a shame!

    • I just came back to SFP in late June. I did two other live events–Wedding Belles and Dream Daycare–and this one was the hardest. I usually have good spins with the spin plant, but with French Romance, I was also stuck with a lot of 1, 2, 3 cc spins. It was really, really frustrating. I finished, but I had Laura Craft and I used real money to buy more SPs. It would have been impossible otherwise as I am in grad school and am busy 5 days a week, and I didn’t want to trust this event coming back for a third time.

  15. Will I still get the French château when the live event comes out later again in the future??

  16. Hi, do you have list of the live events, inorder…. because i want to know what is the next event and its date (lastyear or now),

I want to know what is the next live Event after the French romance and other event 🙂 pls help me, i just want to get prepared in the Hobby that’s required in the Event hihi

  17. I have a question and it’s urgent… if i buy the last pack after the time limit (in the remaning 2 days with the sp’s), will I still be able to win the chateau?

  18. I really hope they bring this back again. I was so close

  19. Urgh this event! I drained my LPs & SPs (while keeping my sims cooking nonstop every available bit of free time I had to replenish) and I’m still going to be one purchase short. I JUST WANT THE CHATEAU DANG IT!!! Okay, I’m good now. Frustrated, but good. Guess I’ll have to wait again.

  20. It says I have 2 days left on the timer and it says I can’t access the stations because I’ve run out of time and I have 2 buy the remaining prizes what should I do?

    • You will not be able to collect anymore arts and crafts items or coins, you have to use the resources you have, if you don’t have enough resources all you can do is use social points to buy the requirements or wait until the event returns!

  21. Help! My coin flower plants to win constructor points have disappeared!

    • The time limit for the event is probably up, you will not be able to collect anymore arts and crafts items or coins, you have to use the resources you have, if you don’t have enough resources all you can do is use social points to buy the requirements or wait until the event returns!

  22. I was not given 12 days for this quest, but only 35 hours. Why is it different? 😓
