  1. Hi the girl who games! I always look up to you for the sims! I have 6 sims and I want to get them all hobbies- and now I can! Thanks so much again!
    -Katherine

  2. My Sim I’m sure just fashioned a gold bar? Any idea what it was and why.

Guessing it’s a random drop but any info would be good

  3. My nieces got me into this free sims game and now I am totally hooked, whether at work or at home I can’t stop playing!! Didn’t realise just how many different hobbies there were!! Find your site and all the information detailed invaluable, keep it up 🙂

  4. You are an absolute Ledgend.. I’ve Been playing this game for a while now, And you have saved me so much frustration playing this game. I’m so glad I found you’re site the other night (wish I found it sooner tho). Looking on how to do the ice-skating hobbie because it showed up on my hobbie list and I couldn’t figure out how to do it until I read I needed the snow park.. Was just we bit frustrating.. And I’ve learnt so much more from reading your page (especially the hobbies and quest).. I also love how detailed the information is.

So thank you. keep up the awesome work. 👌👌🙃🙂

  5. Ignoring the prizes and rewards you get for completing hobbies, is it important/helpful to complete them in the long run for when you get to the Life, Dreams, and Legacy quest and your sims start to age and die, or when it comes to that quest, is it only helpful/important to be at max level for hobbies, and
whether or not you completed them doesn’t really matter?

    • If you don’t care about the prizes then you don’t need to complete them at all, if you want to complete timed hobby events then you would need a sim to get to the highest level in each hobby so you can complete it when the event appears in the game but if you don’t want to do that then you don’t need to complete hobbies.

  6. Great page! Such useful information!
Sorry if this is a stupid question, (I’m new to this game and am still trying to figure a lot of things out) but only two hobby items were avail to purchase in my Promotions R Us store. (The woodworking bench and the fashion design table.) How do you get other things like the chocolate-making table?

    • Thanks! You would only have the chocolatier table if you were playing during the timed hobby event which unlocked it, you will have to wait for them to bring the event back again before you will find it in your promotions r us store
Also this page contains links to all posts and in those posts it explain how to start the hobby if you are unsure.

  7. Hi thank you for your help! I was wondering, should I stay a new hobby once I completely finish one?

    • You’re welcome! You can do, it really is up to you, as long as the hobby is complete you will be able to just put any sim on that hobby if a timed event ever started and complete the event quickly without having to level up first. If you really don’t like a hobby I would suggest you choose a different one once you have completed it.

    • Cooking is great for earning LPs.
I would recommend completing the woodworking and fashion designer hobbies because there are several time limited hobby events that require you to complete these hobbies so if you are already at the highest level it is easier.
If you complete the figure skating hobby you will unlock the ski lift at the snow park.

  8. Hi – Can I ask you a quickie about maintaining a progress on hobbies… for example… if I get a sim to level 6 on a hobby and they unlock all the items and then I don’t have another sim on that level for a while and put the level 6 sim back onto cooking are the items still unlocked if I come to this hobby again say if a if a timed event came up) or would I have to get another sim to level 6 to re-unlock them to get through the event on time. Hope this question makes sense. Thank you.

      • I suppose what I mean is, say another event comes up and I don’t have a sim on level 6 at that time (but have in the past) and the new quest or game requires level 6 to unlock the ‘new prizes’… would I then have to get a sim to level 6 again to unlock all the new prizes in the new quest / game – does that make sense? So I’m trying to work out if its a good idea to keep one sim at L6 of say Fashion Design for when new events come up.

Thank you – you really are fan-tas-tic! Best wishes for a great New Year – may 2017 be your best year ever! 🙂

      • I know what you meant and the answer is the same, all the collectibles will be unlocked once you have got a sim to level 6 for the first time so there is no need to keep a sim as a fashion designer 🙂

You’re welcome! Thank you so much 🙂 Happy New Year to you too!

  9. Hey! I have a question about the cooking hobby. I’m doing it to try to earn more LPs as they’re hard to make other ways. So, do you get LPs once a sim reaches the level 6 or they also have to collect all the cooking accesories? Because I’m not going anywhere, I keep getting the same accessories over and over. I read somewhere that three stars appliances help so I bought a three star oven, got two different accessories the first two times I used it, but then it started to happen again, I keep getting the same accessories. Is there any other trick I should know to make some progress?

Oh, and what do those stars actually mean? What’s the difference if a sim uses a one star appliance or furniture compared to three stars ones?

BTW, I’m really new to this game, I been playing it for like five days.

    Hope you can help me,
    Thanks!

    • You get the LPs once you find all the cooking accessories, sometimes it takes a longer time to find some of the items as some of them are rare, you just have to keep going unfortunately. I personally don’t find that I complete this hobby any quicker when I use a 3 star stove, the one star seems to work just fine!
The star ratings are more expensive but they allow your sims to complete an action faster, for example on a bookcase if your sim wanted to read the big book of stuff on a one star bookcase it would take a day, on a two star it would take 21 hours 30 minutes and on a 3 star it will take 19 hours- 3 star items are useful if you want to complete quests in the time limit as you will be able to complete some of the tasks quicker.
As you are new to the game you might want to give my beginners guide a read (I recently completely updated it!): https://thegirlwhogames.blog/2014/01/01/the-sims-freeplay-beginners-guide/ 🙂

  10. Hi I love your site though I have a question. My sims have been doing their hobbies repeatedly and non stop for so many days but they always create the same things. Is there any way to help them create new things?

  11. I can’t find a hobby item, a kitten play box. I have 3 but I can’t find one of them. Is there anyway to search for it without having to go through every single house?

  12. Is there any upside to making all of your Sim characters sort of non-committal in their hobbies? I.E. starting them off as a cook or a fishersim and then hopping to something like art or woodworking? Do you really ‘lose’ anything? Is more Sims better?

    • It depends what the hobby is, if you click on the links on that page they will take you to all the posts each one has a level up percentage so you can see how long it will take to reach level 6.

  13. Hobbies are supposed to be a fun pastime but repeatedly having to do them over and over and over again is a whole different ball of wax, so much so that I don’t want to let my sims play bowling, hunt for fashion or strut their stuff ever again, they looked pretty bored too, especially with the bowling. I’ve now got a small team of expendable sims completing LDs as per your advice weightlessmagic, they reside in single room dwellings with the basic needs satisfied and the tools of their chosen LDs on site … LOL they could well be S F players because if you don’t get a routine you’d be at it 24/7.

  14. You are amazing!!! I played sims freeplay 4 years ago and I looked at your page a lot! I deleted it years ago but now, i feel like playing it again and I look up to your page again and see that you’re still active in posting and giving us guides and tips. You’re so kind! Thank you so much! I’m still a student so I can’t donate anything yet but i am writing this comment so that you’ll know that you are very much appreciated. God bless you!

  15. I have been playing the sims freeplay and I have had a lot of questions about it and I go to your site every time! You help me so much and saved me from so much frustration! Keep up the great work and thanks for the help!

  16. Hi there just want to say thanks so much for all that you do on this site it’s been very helpful. I have one question, do you get anything from completing all hobbies I have one more to go (makeup) then I’m finished all collections. I’ve been using the others just to get LPs like cooking and ghost hunter.

  17. I’m at the highest level and not a great sims player. I can’t get to bingo and carnival it says I have old quest to do. I’m guessing I didn’t finish on the lower levels. How do I get back to them. I have a ton of them. I seem to have a lot of hobbies to finish. I’m trying to figure out how to do ghost hunters hobbie. I don’t see the store

    • Down the side of your screen you will see two symbols, these contain all the tasks and quests you need to complete, if you have a look at both of them you can see which quest you are currently on. Main/progression quests don’t disappear so you will be on them until you complete them and then the next one will start after that.
You will need to have completed the ghost hunter quest to unlock that hobby.
