The Sims Freeplay- Community Market

AD | Early Access to Beta Provided by EA/ Firemonkeys (Presented by EA Creator Network) may differ from actual version

A big change is coming to The Sims Freeplay in the Family Farmhouse: Spring to Action update available from 28th April 2025, instead of gardening on our home lots we now have a dedicated space to grow called the Community Market, in this post I will explain how it works.

The Community Market can be found near the park:

At the Community Market you will receive requests from customers, you need to grow the items they require to complete their requests and earn simoleons.

Clicking on a customer directly or on the stall where Patty Cakes is will show you all the customers and what each of them requires as well as your reward:

If you already have enough of an item it will be green with a tick, once all items are ticked off you can click fulfill to receive the reward:

There are 10 garden patches here you can use to grow but when you first start only one is unlocked, you will need to level up to unlock the other 9 and then use simoleons to unlock them:

To plant you need to click on the garden patch and drag the seeds to a garden patch:

Any sim who is not busy will appear at the Community Market to grow those seeds. If all your sims are busy you will not be able to plant.

If you want to see the cost of the seeds or how long it takes to grow click and hold when you click on the seeds and this information will appear:

Below I have included a table with all the seeds you can unlock, the levels they unlock at, cost to plant them and time taken to grow:

You can also sell excess items from the storage shed:

For those who are interested I have included the sell price for each item before and after this change. The sell price is just how much you get by selling through storage, not from completing customer requests:

If you do not have enough items you can fulfill using LP or skip an order with the bin icon, you will then need to wait for the next order to arrive:

Can I still garden at home? Garden patches are still available but can only be used for growing Simoleon Sprouts, Life Point Lotus and Social Point Flowers.

However you will unlock fully grown versions of each vegetable when you unlock the seeds at the community market to place on house lots to use as decor:

If you have any plants growing or had any stored gardening seeds when you update you will be rewarded the xp or simoleons from these.

The aim of this is to shorten the amount of time it takes to earn simoleons from gardening, I do agree that you can earn a lot more simoleons in a short space of time but it is not very useful for players who cannot be on the game as much and we can no longer earn simoleons planting overnight! When I tested this feature I also found it difficult to earn enough experience points to level up without those gardening XP. Time will tell if this actually is a good way to earn more money.

Let me know your thoughts on this new feature!

  1. Great blog as always! I do have a question. Will there be enhanced lighting on this lot? Will there also be enhanced lighting on the midtown cafe lot?

  2. I don’t like the sound of this! I have my sims planting most of the time when they’re not at work and I still struggle to earn enough $ to build things. I have 20 sims. What am I supposed to do with the other 10 that can’t be at the market?!

  3. I like that there’s an active method of getting simoleons now but passive ways of earning currency was an important part in my gameplay loop in busy times of my life. I hope the trading will eventually also raise exp. & I also hope sims’ job earnings gain a massive buff so they become worth using overnight. Sims should b allowed 2 work twice a day so busy players can have passive ways of earning currency.

  4. How can you complete quests / tasks that require you to negotiate with a sim eating plant with this change? (Side note: bummed, seems will be hard to earn simoleans now … often did overnight gardening and quicker growing while cooking etc while cooking for LPs)

  5. I have a question: can crops that are stored be used to fulfill orders? I have 10 carrots in storage & need 3 to fulfill an order. It’s not letting me fulfill the order. I’m stuck. What should I do.

      • Mine is wanting regular carrots that I have in storage but not registering them on costumers count.I bet there’s is doing that too.

  6. While I’m enjoying the new market, I’m very upset that they took regular gardening away. I don’t understand why we can’t have both as options. I know you can’t fix it. I just want to complain somewhere. lol

  7. I am so unhappy about this update. My days are busy and I always have my 20 sims grow potatoes every 2hrs because that’s about an often as I can hop on here. That’s over 50,000 Simoleons a day. Now, I’m lucky to get a couple thousand Simoleons all day since I can’t be on here every 5-20 mins so there’s really no point for me to continue playing and that’s very saddening.

  8. this whole update is ridiculous. I will stop playing the game if they don’t change it back to how it was before. Absolutely pointless now.

  9. Great post as always. Love your website! Do you know what the maximum level upgrade will be on the storage at the community market? Mine is up to 160 items so far. I’m wondering if I’m even getting close to the maximum upgrade. Spent a lot of coins opening all 10 garden plots, but I’ve made all that back from gardening already. I’m pretty happy with this change so far, and based on all the boxes sitting around in the market, it looks like there will be future features added.

  10. will home gardens ever come back? This update makes me want to delete the game, I can’t be on my phone all day

  11. are we going to be able to upgrade/complete all the various sheds, tents, etc in the garden?

  12. I like it. Caution! There are 2 types of carrots. Be sure you’re growing the right kind. I want to know what the other areas will be?

  13. Like other commentators here, I think this update doesn’t allow for an enjoyable passive gaming experience for people who don’t have much available time to check in with their Sims. I’ve been playing since the very beginning and overnight gardening has been my main source of Simoleons to be able to build nearly all of my town and afford some of the very expensive Architect Homes. Like another commentator here I would like to see having the option of using the Community based gardening or At Home gardening depending on your gaming style is useful for players of different gaming styles as the earnings from sending your Sims to work aren’t nearly as much for the hours spent. Additionally, all of my original houses were built around having Gardening plots to make enough Simoleons to buy a toilet, pets & having birthdays!

  14. I hate that it’s glitchy! I had to do the 24 carrot 5 times just to get 3 more carrots. Each time I fished growing them, they didn’t save (yes I was doing the correct carrot) even tho I have plenty of storage. Have had the issue with peas too. So frustrating.

  15. Do I still have to use my lifestyle points to increase storage when I have a power up tool? If so,…what good are they?!

  16. I’m not a fan of this change… but what I can suggest is skipping all the low-end orders until you get high-end ones that are §10,000 or more. I’ve gotten a few over §15k.

For example, for those who can’t play as often (like myself), you can get as many Sims as possible “gardening” before your nighttime routine and you can harvest and fulfill those big orders right before bedtime. But, it can be anything that takes roughly 40 minutes or more, so it could be lunchtime or any meal of the day, the time it takes to do a hobby, and so on…

In my nighttime routine example, you should be able to complete at least a couple of orders which means >§20k with only a few minutes of gameplay. IF your routine isn’t long enough or if you miss it the night before, you can always harvest/fulfill in the morning. It’s rare that you’ll get consecutive high-end orders though (at least I haven’t!) so you will likely not be able to pull off nighttime AND morning routine success with high-end orders. But, throughout the day, whenever you have a minute, you can check out the pending orders and then reject all low-end orders until you have at least a couple of high-end orders lined up for the routine/activity or your choice 😉

    I hope that helps!

  17. First I did not like the idea at all, but actually, even with little attention paid to the new gardening place, I can earn more Simoleons in a day than before. Still, I am not happy about home gardening being removed as it was a great feature to give the Sims something to do overnight… even if the amount of $$ earned was so low. But at least now my remaining Sims can go on and do hobbies overnight to earn LPs.

Still, I have a feeling that we got this becase the developers were not happy that most people did not care at all about their coffee shop mini-game, so this time they took away home gardening to force users to play with this new one. And well… when I wanna play Sims Freeplay, I want to play the main game, not some additional mini-games. So, I am kinda conflicted about this whole change and update.
