Once you have built the Sorcerous Supplies store this discovery quest will begin. If you complete this quest in the time limit you will unlock the pet dragon! You can still complete this quest once the time limit is up to unlock the spell casting hobby but you won’t get the dragon prize
You cannot complete this quest at the same time as any other discovery quest
The price for building the sorcerous supplies store will vary depending on how many businesses you have already built
HOW LONG DOES THIS QUEST TAKE TO COMPLETE?
Times may vary depending on the star rating an item has
- Buy a crystal ball (S5,000) from Sorcerous supplies
- Place a crystal ball in a house (you will find it in the decorations section of your inventory once you have brought it)
- Look into the crystal ball- 30 seconds
- Gaze into the crystal ball- 30 seconds
- Pick up the magic wand- 2 seconds
- Unlock the door to the wand room: Randomly Rearrange- 2 hours 30 minutes
- Pick up the magic wand- 30 seconds (magic wand podium- pictured below)
- Use a crystal ball to go home- 1 second
- Act casual on a couch- 10 hours
- Place the magic wand podium in your house (from hobbies section of inventory, pictured below)
- Cast random spells- 13 hours 30 minutes (using magic wand podium)
- Talk to a sim about magic wands- 8 minutes (click on another sim)
- Use the magic wand (cast random spell on magic wand podium)- 13 hours 30 minutes
- Watch emergency broadcast- 2 hours 30 minutes
- Visit the park
- Call a sim to the park
- Formulate a plan- 6 hours 10 minutes (click on a mummy)
- Search for a mummy removal spell on the Internet- 13 hours 30 minutes
- Perform anti-mummies spell on a magic wand (podium)- 7 minutes
- Use the crystal ball to visit the wizards house- 1 second
- Read weird world of wands at wizards house- 22 hours 30 minutes
- Explain to the wizard- 8 hours 12 minutes
- Use the crystal ball to go back home- 1 second
- Call a sim to the park
- Talk to the wizard- 1 minute 40 seconds
- Distract a mummy- 16 hours 30 minutes
- Talk to wizard about magic spells- 3 minutes
- Distract a mummy- 16 hours 30 minutes
- Joke around with the wizard- 10 seconds
- Distract a mummy- 16 hours 30 minutes
- Pack up the magic wand podium- 30 seconds
- Talk to the wizard- 3 hours 10 minutes (he should appear at the house you are at)
QUEST IS COMPLETE!
You can now complete the Spell Casting Hobby (you need to buy a magic wand podium like the one in this quest from the sorcerous supplies store, you do not get to keep the one in the quest) The time limit for the hobby begins as soon as you complete this quest

Where do I find them? In the Pet store (if you haven’t built the pet store yet you can still get the dragons once it is built)

- There are two 1 star dragons- one costs 50,000, the other costs 25 SP
- There are two 2 star dragons- one costs 250,000, the other costs 25 LP
- There are two 3 star dragons- one costs 50 LP, the other costs 100 LP
Is the prize worth it? Yes it really is! It is unusual and cute, why wouldn’t you want one? Once you have brought a dragon it will appear at the house, near the mailbox as an egg: 
You can move it into the house, the dragon takes a day to hatch: 
Once it has hatched it will fly around the house, like dogs and cats it will find simoleons and LP:
A sim can interact with the dragon to increase the dragons happiness, they can praise or feed them:

You cannot do more than one discovery quest at the same time, if you are currently on another one (the list can be found here) you will not be able to do this one until that one is completed
Do I have to do this quest?
If you don’t start building the sorcerous supplies store you don’t have to do this quest at all but if you have already started building or started this quest you need to complete it before you can move on to the next quest
I haven’t started this quest yet, will it still be available when I want to do it?
Yes it will be, you can choose to start it whenever you like
How do I unlock the door to the wand room?
Select randomly rearrange
How do I place the magic wand podium, I can’t find it!
It will be in the hobby and career items section of your inventory
Why do blue footprints appear when I try to use an item?
Blue footprints appear when your sim cannot access an item you want them to use, you need to either rotate the item or move an item that has been placed in front of it so they can use it.
How do I send my sim to the park?
Go to the park and click on the whistle next to a sim who isn’t busy on the simtracker, this post explains more about the simtracker
Everytime my sim gazes into the crystal ball it says ‘this place is too crowded’ why?
If you already have a sim at the wizards cottage you will get this message, use the simtracker to go to the sim who is already there instead of using the crystal ball
Can I do all the distract a mummy tasks at the same time?
No you can’t, you can only do them one at a time
How do I pack up the magic wand podium?
Click on it to pack up
The magic wand podium has disappeared once I’ve picked it up! How do I complete the hobby?
You will need to buy a magic wand podium from the sorcerous supplies store to complete the hobby
What do I get if I complete this quest in the time limit?
Pet dragons

Yes they will

No, the only way to get the limited time prizes is by completing the quest in the time limit

Yes, the time limit for the hobby starts straight away once this quest is complete, you can click no when the hobby pop up appears but this does not stop the timer going down

How many times do I have to ‘formulate a plan’ on a mummy? nothing happened after the action was done.
It should work the first time, if not, try again
So, I finished the quest and unlocked the dragons (yay!!!) I bought 3 for 3 different houses but they never showed up! The simoleans are gone but no dragons! Am I missing something? ??!!!
They are eggs at the front of the house, look at the post, I have added some pictures
One egg did finally show up, the others disappeared and the EA help desk couldn’t help. My advice to everyone would be only buy one at a time and make sure it show s up. It is an adorable little guy though!
I can’t find my magic wand to use it a second time. I do not have a magic wand podium in my inventory either. Please help

Are you able to get the dragons in time without using LP?
Yes it is possible if it suits your schedule, I used about 10Lps to fit in time
I had 28 mins left to complete distract a mummy 16 h 30 min and I went to the park to fish and my sim had stopped and moved away and know I have to start again, has anyone else had this problem ?
I’ve not heard of this problem from anyone else yet but it’s probably not just you
Mine did this as well during the ‘formulate a plan’ step (person mentioned this above) — started the action, left and came back for something else, and it had auto-cancelled the action. Glad I noticed quickly, otherwise I’d have lost a whole day towards completing the quest on time.

So if you don’t complete quest on time is it true that u cannot buy for real money.

Has the goal appeared yet? You need to wait until the goal appears before you will see this option on tv

Only 2 days left and I still have many quest for this “Wizard” thingy. I want to have that dragon but I think I can’t do that. 2 days and 19 hr but my quest now is 20 hr and 30 mins. Would I still get that dragon even though I did not finish that quest on a right time?
You can’t get the dragons if you don’t complete the quest in time
Can you start some of the steps ahead of time and they will still be considered a part of the quest? Such as searching on the Internet while also talking to a mummy? Or talk about spells while doing the 13 hour random spells? I have an awful time completing every single quest because they limit the time,then you unlock the gift,but have to pay like 30′ Life points to actually get it! Does this quest merely unlock the availability to purchase a dragon or do you actually get a dragon?

I was able to have one sim searching the Internet while another sim read the weird world of wands. That really helped.

Hey! Not sure you noticed, but I thought I should mention that (while you CAN buy more than one podium a 5k) you can only place one. So only one Sim can do the hobby at a time. Considering that the shorter spell takes over 2 hours and we only have 7 days to win the owl price I’d say this will be tough if not impossible to get all 12 spells (without spending LP). I bought two of the podium and now I can’t even access the second one. I will have to sell the one I placed to be able to get the second one out of storage. Just a heads up so others don’t waste money like this.

Hi, does it cost anything to get the dragon? It’s a cool prize, but I can’t imagine it’s free — even if it’s well deserved because of how hard it could be to finish this quest on time. The five-year old in me really, really wants a pet dragon and I’m hoping it’s not like the stupid volleyball net in the swimming quest that you have to buy after you’ve won it.

The only way you can complete it any quicker is by speeding up with LPs.
I’ve read that you can continue to complete quests even after time expires, you just won’t get the prize. How do I do that. If I remember correctly, every time I have not completed a quest in time, it just disappears from my tasks.
It shouldn’t do, if you don’t complete in time you should still find it in your goal tab.
Uh, at what ‘age’ do sims get to use the hobby when you finish the quest? (Age as in, baby, toddler, preteen, teen, adult, and senior)

LOVE your page/blog – very informative and thank you. I’m so frustrated because I can’t get the quests done because I don’t have this or that building, store, and/or not enough simoleons. We bought LP once but no matter how man sims are working or planting, I still don’t have enough :((

I’m on level 13, need for steed quest, but only 18K simoleons, 3 LP, and NO promotions r us store. (I know not related to this quest).
They should at LEAST make it POSSIBLE to complete these quests! Hasn’t been so for me. I’ve had 2 babies for like FOREVER that can’t grow up until I complete this near to impossible quest for horses.

Do you just look up my name on FB? You can try my first name -but not sure if that is safe really. How DOES one go about adding neighbors?

As I said in my other comment, you could add me or if you don’t want random people on your facebook, you could make one just for gaming then post your name of that account on the neighbours needed page so people can find you, or add people from that or skipping with LPs are really the only other things you can do.

Hi! I have a few questions. I read through the comments above and didn’t see anyone ask them (sorry if someone did and I missed it, I’m sure repeat questions are annoying).
I was wondering about the variations in the costs of the dragons. Are we given the choice of spending either LP’s or simoleons -or- does it differ between people which option they are given?
Is it possible to complete this quest in time without spending LP’s?
Can we start one task before we finish another one with this quest. I’ve been trying to do that but it seems that I have to finish one task before the option for the next task becomes available.
Finally, with the new dragons and owl(s?) are we still only limited to 2 pets per household?

No you don’t get to choose, there are 2 of each star rating dragons, so the first one star one costs simoleons and the other costs SPs
