Once you have built the Sorcerous Supplies store this discovery quest will begin. If you complete this quest in the time limit you will unlock the pet dragon! You can still complete this quest once the time limit is up to unlock the spell casting hobby but you won’t get the dragon prize
You cannot complete this quest at the same time as any other discovery quest
The price for building the sorcerous supplies store will vary depending on how many businesses you have already built
HOW LONG DOES THIS QUEST TAKE TO COMPLETE?
Times may vary depending on the star rating an item has
- Buy a crystal ball (S5,000) from Sorcerous supplies
- Place a crystal ball in a house (you will find it in the decorations section of your inventory once you have brought it)
- Look into the crystal ball- 30 seconds
- Gaze into the crystal ball- 30 seconds
- Pick up the magic wand- 2 seconds
- Unlock the door to the wand room: Randomly Rearrange- 2 hours 30 minutes
- Pick up the magic wand- 30 seconds (magic wand podium- pictured below)
- Use a crystal ball to go home- 1 second
- Act casual on a couch- 10 hours
- Place the magic wand podium in your house (from hobbies section of inventory, pictured below)
- Cast random spells- 13 hours 30 minutes (using magic wand podium)
- Talk to a sim about magic wands- 8 minutes (click on another sim)
- Use the magic wand (cast random spell on magic wand podium)- 13 hours 30 minutes
- Watch emergency broadcast- 2 hours 30 minutes
- Visit the park
- Call a sim to the park
- Formulate a plan- 6 hours 10 minutes (click on a mummy)
- Search for a mummy removal spell on the Internet- 13 hours 30 minutes
- Perform anti-mummies spell on a magic wand (podium)- 7 minutes

You can now complete the Spell Casting Hobby (you need to buy a magic wand podium like the one in this quest from the sorcerous supplies store, you do not get to keep the one in the quest) The time limit for the hobby begins as soon as you complete this quest

Where do I find them? In the Pet store (if you haven’t built the pet store yet you can still get the dragons once it is built)

- There are two 1 star dragons- one costs 50,000, the other costs 25 SP
- There are two 2 star dragons- one costs 250,000, the other costs 25 LP
- There are two 3 star dragons- one costs 50 LP, the other costs 100 LP
Is the prize worth it? Yes it really is! It is unusual and cute, why wouldn’t you want one? Once you have brought a dragon it will appear at the house, near the mailbox as an egg: 
You can move it into the house, the dragon takes a day to hatch: 
Once it has hatched it will fly around the house, like dogs and cats it will find simoleons and LP:
A sim can interact with the dragon to increase the dragons happiness, they can praise or feed them:

Why do blue footprints appear when I try to use an item?
Blue footprints appear when your sim cannot access an item you want them to use, you need to either rotate the item or move an item that has been placed in front of it so they can use it.
How do I send my sim to the park?
Go to the park and click on the whistle next to a sim who isn’t busy on the simtracker, this post explains more about the simtracker
Everytime my sim gazes into the crystal ball it says ‘this place is too crowded’ why?
If you already have a sim at the wizards cottage you will get this message, use the simtracker to go to the sim who is already there instead of using the crystal ball

I missed the quest and didn’t get the dragon. Is there a chance to get it any other way?
no sorry, you had to complete the quest in time to unlock the dragons
On the book of spells its telling me i have to pick up the magic wand again after i got rid of the mummy. And I went to the magic wand podium to take the wand and it want let me . because i cant pick up the magic wand i cant unlock the spell casting hobby. And it gave me the hint saying ” wha… where are we?!

No time for that. ….your sim just spotted something that looks like a magic wand!” And thats it i tried a lot of things and made no progress. I would really like if you could help me.
So you are on the pack up the podium goal? Is there a sim at the house to select the option to pack it up? I don’t know why else you wouldn’t be able to complete this sorry, you may need to contact EA to see if they can fix this for you

When will this book of spells end I’ve been doing this for months no I didn’t complete in the time limited but I’m still doing this quest right now I’m doing the broom stick flying hobby and spell casting hobby how many are there seems like I’ve been doing this forever please help
Firstly you must have completed the spell casting hobby for the first time to unlock the broomstick hobby so you don’t have to do that again unless you want to earn some LPs
But there isn’t really a trick to finding all of them unless you used the lucky spin, some hobbies take longer to complete than others so you just have to keep going
How did you get a reindeer tab in your pet store? I’m super curious.
The Christmas 2013 quest unlocked reindeers, they are no longer available if you didn’t complete this quest
There’s a reindeer pack in the online store, I think it’s like $4.99

Maybe a weird question, but is there anything you can buy in the pet section that your dragon can use? A bed, perch? Food or water dishes?
Unfortunately there isn’t anything in there for dragons

Every time my sim gazes into the crystal ball it says
“This place is to crowded. You cannot have any more new sims until one leaves.”
But there is only one sim in the house. ??

Do you have a sim at the wizards place already? If so you won’t be able to send another sim there by gazing into the crystal ball, just go to the sim who is there already and you should be able to complete the goal like that.
Is it even possible to complete this quest in the time limit without VIP?
Yes it is a bit tight though but if you did each goal in this quest back to back it would take you 6 days 1 hour 23 minutes 55 seconds

I have multiple mummies in my park and I can’t see why is this goin to affect my game
There are many mummies in the park when you do this quest, you just distract one at a time.
I’m trying to complete this quest on time so I can get the dragon, I know there’s a 7 day time limit, but where can I see how much time I have left? I didn’t click on the sorcerer shop straight away after I finished building it because I wanted to complete another quest I was on, does this mean I have even less time to complete it, if the time limit starts as soon as building the shop is complete? (If that’s the case, no dragons for me then 😢).
At lot of the components take a long time, is it possible for one sim to be doing one task and for another to do another bit so it doesn’t take as long (like in the marriage quest where you start growing the onions early)? I sure hope so.
I am hoping not to have to spend too much actual $ on this game, but if I do, would it be better to spend LP to get things done quicker or cough up for VIP status to get the time extension?
Do dragons give you more money than cats or dogs? Or does a 1☆ dragon equal a 1☆ dog? Or do they at least give you cash more often? Did you get a dragon?

No, you cannot start any of these goals early, if you could it would say (can be started early) next to the goal

Hi – love your blog!! My question is: How do you get the dragon egg into your house? Mine is at the mailbox, but when I click on it I just get how long it’s incubating. Hope this isn’t a dumb question.
Go into the home store (buy mode) and you will be able to move it into your house, once it has finished incubating the dragon will appear.

The wizard, not witch will appear at the house you are currently at, if he isn’t there try restarting your device then recheck every house, he will be somewhere!
If you use a time extension you will still get the dragons if you complete in that time limit

Hi! I have the option to add time to this quest. If I do that, can I still get the dragon for free at the end of the quest? I have 2 days left and am just a few hours into distracting my first mummy. 😩
Well the dragons aren’t free anyway but if you use a time extension and complete in that time you will still unlock them.

You don’t see the wizard when you complete the quest, you can’t get back there using the crystal ball and you have to buy the podium to start the hobby once the quest is complete, you do not get to keep the one in the quest.
Can I use 4 sims to distract the mummy in order to save time ?

I think I’m on the last step which is to leave the wizard’s house but the crystal ball in the house won’t work. I tried just going outside but, obviously, game wants more than that. What am I doing wrong?
Just use the simtracker and click on the home with the arrow inside it button so your sim leaves.

For those who want extra XP, when one sim is completing the quest doing long tasks that are not at the wizards cottage, another sim can be at the cottage reading – there’s a couple of different options at the different bookshelves, but I chose ‘read the thermos mysteriis’, a 1 day task, for 12960XP!
