This post will list weekly tasks, how to do them and explain how the mystery box shop works and what you are likely to get in the boxes.
Weekly tasks are tasks you complete to unlock keys that you can use to buy prizes from the mystery box shop, click on active goals then on the green gift button as shown below:
You can skip a goal with 10LP if you are unable to complete it.
The bar at the bottom shows you how long you have to complete the weekly tasks before the next week starts and how many tasks you have completed so far (when you get to each symbol you get a reward- read the mystery box shop part of this post for more information)
If you click on the picture of the gift it will open up the mystery box shop, there you can buy boxes or see how many keys you have.
This is an incomplete list of weekly tasks, I will keep updating it but if you have any that I haven’t listed please comment with the time it takes and I will add it.
Times may vary depending on the star rating an item has
- Cancel an action (click on a sim completing an action and click the red cross to cancel)
- Grill em all on a bbq- 7 hours
- Have a sim fall asleep in the bath- 2 hour 20 minutes
- Catch some Zs on a couch- 3 hours 10 minutes
- Make a fancy coffee- 4 minutes
- Rest eyes on a couch- 4 minutes 30 seconds
- Go to work with low hygiene (to reduce hygiene kick over and clean up the trash can a few times)
- Use another sims phone (go to a different house in simtown and use their phone)
- Have a sim hibernate- 1 day
- Watch a movie on TV- 1 hour 31 minutes
- Browse the internet- 4 minutes
- Use a phone to be on hold to tech support- 5 hours
- Deep sleep in another sims bed
- Clean under fingernails- 4 minutes 30 seconds
- Have a movie marathon- 8 hours 30 minutes
- Have a rich lather in the shower- 15 minutes
- Nap on a couch- 2 hours
- Watch funny cat videos on a computer- 1 hour 40 minutes
- Use another sim’s shower- 4 seconds
- Have a hot bath- 24 minutes
- Check the mail- click on the mailbox at the front of a sims house when the envelope bubble appears (once a day)
- Play an album on an MPFreePlayer (can be found in the preteen section of buy mode)
- Play a harp (you can find the harp at the castle!)
- Play the sims on a computer- 48 minutes
- Read big book of stuff- 19 hours (bookcase)
- Sleep in another sims bed- 4 minutes (send your sim to another house and snooze in a bed)
- Plot world domination using a world globe- 8 hours (can be brought from the decorations section)
- Take a deep sleep in another sim’s house- 6 hours 30 minutes
- Kick over a trash can (click on the trash can at the front of one of your sims houses)
- Collect driving revenue (go for a drive in one of your sims cars then head to simtown and click on the bubbles that appear as your sims drive along)
Pets
- Hug a cat- 11 seconds (you can buy a cat from the pet store)
- Have a dog dig for treasure 10 times (click on the shovel that appears above the dogs head 10 times to collect simoleons or LP)
- Play frisbee with a dog- 1 hour
Baking– using a stove
- Bake with a stove
- Make some rocky road- 12 hours
- Make some donuts- 8 hours
- Bake some brownies- 5 minutes
- Bake some cheesecake- 4 hours
- Bake some croissants- 18 hours
- Bake some apple pie- 40 minutes
- Bake some gingerbread sims- 6 hours
- Bake some danish- 1 day
- Bake some cookies- 1 minute

- Switch to another sim (select another sim to control)
- Make 2 sims be friends

Baby
- Give food to a baby- 2 minutes (requires an adult sim)

- Have a teen waste a whole day on a couch- 19 hours
- Teach a teen how to drive- 5 hours (requires an adult sim and a car)
- Have a teenager make a chai tea- 10 minutes
- Have a teen talk to their best friend on the phone- 9 hours 30 minutes
Park
- Use the park toilet- 30 seconds
- Get 6 sims in the park
- Have a sim reach Nirvana in the park- 12 hours (click on the sim at the park to get the option)
- Have a sim practice Tai Chi in the park- 1 hour (click on the sim at the park to get the option)
- Watch birds on a bench- 9 hours (select the option on the birdfeeding bench in the park)
Community Center
- Have a fancy coffee at the community center- 5 minutes
- Perform extensive pirouettes- 12 hours (record player with a preteen)
Campground
- Have a romantic ride in a canoe (you will need two sims click on the canoe at the campgrounds to complete this goal)
- Test the depth at the campground- 15 minutes (once you have the lookout built at the campground you can complete this goal)
- Take a selfie at the campgrounds lookout- 10 minutes (once you have the lookout built at the campground you can complete this goal)
- Toss and turn in a sleeping bag- 1 hour 40 minutes
- Turn in for the night at the campgrounds (using a tent)
- Plan a trip at the campgrounds- 2 hours 30 minutes (using the information board at the entrance to the campground)
- Woohoo at the campgrounds- 5 minutes (using a tent, select the interaction between two sims)
- Have a picnic at the campgrounds- 10 minutes
Snow park
- Have a fancy coffee at the snow park- 4 minutes
- Make 2 sims have a snowball fight at the snow park- 2 hours
Arcade
- Play the dance arcade machine at the arcade- 10 minutes
- Get 5 sims at the arcade

Beach
- Snorkel in the lagoon- 2 hours

- Have 4 sims employed as firefighters

- Help a profession customer (complete all requests for one customer while working at a profession career)
- Trade a profession resource (trade any resource in the resource exchange tab at a profession workplace)
Certain times of the day- complete at or between the times stated in the goal (the time is the time it is for you in real life)
- Have a preteen be funny between 7am-11am
- Go fishing between 6pm-12am- 10 minutes
- Do tai chi in the park at 7pm (click on your sim in the park)
- Play cowboys on a rocking horse between 5pm-7pm (toddler)
- Have 6 sims watch a show on TV between 8pm-10pm
- Read a pulp novel in the morning (any time before 12pm)
- BBQ in the park between 6- 10am
- Post on simbook between 7pm- 9pm (preteen)
- Have 3 sims speculate between 9am-12pm
- Search for ghosts between 6am- 12pm
- Grow garlic between 8pm- 6am
- Watch a movie at midnight (works anytime between 12am and 1am)
- Have 3 sims speculate between 9am to 12pm (select the option on a chair with 3 sims)
- Make a sims breakfast on a barbeque between 6am-10am (select any option on a BBQ)
Would I get a goal for a certain sim or place if I haven’t unlocked that aged sim or place yet?
Yes, the goals are random and everyone gets the same ones even if you haven’t unlocked a place or don’t have a correctly aged sim you still may get a goal requiring them, all you can do in this situation is skip with 10LPs or wait for a new update and that goal you are stuck on will complete automatically.

MYSTERY BOX SHOP
You have a week (7 days) to complete all of the 20 tasks to get a key, you get a reward for every 5 tasks you complete.
- 5 tasks= 25% completed= S1,000
- 10 tasks= 50% completed= S3,000
- 15 tasks= 75% completed= 3LP
- 20 tasks=completed!= a Key and 5,000XP
If you go to the mystery box shop you can see how many keys you have at the moment and the boxes you can open:
- Loot Box requires 1 Key (7x common items)
- Bounty Box requires 3 Keys (3x uncommon items, 10x common items)
- Fortune Box requires 6 Keys (1x rare item, 4x uncommon items, 15x common items)
So what is in each box? The items you receive are random but this gives you some idea of what you could get:

Hi! I am struggling with the “watch movie at midnight”. Does a Sim need to start watchin it excatly 24.00 or should it complete a movie at midnight? How precice is the time really? Is it possible that the game time is not the same as my tablet’s time zone?
The game time is the same as the time on your tablet. I think they probably consider midnight to be about anytime between 12 and 12:59 but I’ve never waited that late to complete this task, I usually do it at about quarter past and that works
Will, for example, a preteen quest pop up even if I do not have a preteen in my town?
Yes a preteen goal could appear as the tasks are the same for everyone, they don’t take into account what stage you are in the game
I have some adult Sims, a toddler and a preteen. My question is if I grow up my preteen, would I face weekly quest missions which needs preteens, even though I wouldn’t have one?
Yes, the goals are random and everyone gets the same ones even if you haven’t unlocked a place or don’t have a correctly aged sim you still may get a goal requiring them
Hi I have a problem when it comes to a party boat.I want to visit a sim and it tells me to download extra content yes I wanna do that but I use Gt.S5280 samsung so it is kinder hard for me to scroll up just to press download because my phone is too small.I really don’t know what to do I’m stuck and a three star toilet I can’t find it.Hope u’ll give me some advice on what to do
Sorry but you are going to have to download the latest update (by going to the play store on your device where you downloaded the game from) as this is the only way you can visit your neighbours who have updated.
And to find a three star toilet you need to look in the bathroom section of buy mode, you may not be on a high enough level to have unlocked the toilet yet though

There’s a goal where you have to have 4 sims hibernating. I used a baby and three regular sims and it didn’t work. Can you not use babies for this?
Not for this one, if you get a task which is have a sim hibernate sometimes you can use a baby but I would put an adult on as well just in case!
What is a MPFreeplayer and where do you find it? Need to play an album on it for the weekly task

Hello, I’m hoping you can help me. I have a social task that says to have a sim do a triple pickle using a diving board. I have used a preteen to do all the choices and have used an adult to do the brief leap and aquatic lunges. Have you gotten this task.

Where can I find the items I won from the box? I received the simeleons and life points, but can’t find the rare items I won (suit of armor + neo Tokyo item) anywhere in the menu.

If you can’t complete it and don’t have enough LPs you can wait until they release the next update to the game as when you update it will complete that goal and you get a new one, until then there isn’t much you can do
I am on social task dig up treasure from neighbor s dog. But for me there are only 4 houses and none of them have a dog. Plus I cant make an FB account so I cant get a neighbor from there. What should I do?
If a neighbour doesn’t have an item you need and you can’t add any new ones, all you can do is skip the task for 10LPs or just leave it and don’t do social tasks.
How do I complete the task: buy a three star living chair?? I’ve done it actually. I even bought more than one (3/4 living chairs) with 3 stars. But it didnt work! The task’s still there…
If you have brought a 3 star chair and it still doesn’t work then this is a glitch, you can either contact EA and see if they can fix it for you, wait for the next update and it will complete this task straight away when you update or skip with 10LPs

You need to wait for your daily reward tomorrow if you have already collected it today

They are used as lights, they don’t do anything apart from light up rooms
How do I pretend to auction a neighbours belongings? I’ve had this social task pending for ages, I remembered an auction stand in the park wen I started the game but none of my neighbours parks have them, it doesn’t really tell u how to do it and Its driving me mad lol thanks

I’m having trouble with the social task video your neighbors town. I have used the camera on the screen, and I have looked for a possible video camera to purchase in the store, but to no avail. Just wondering what to do. Thank you!
There is a video camera in promotions r us under the career section but one of your neighbours needs to have one in their town so you can complete this task, if they don’t you will have to add a neighbour who does or skip with 10LPs
Here’s a question I’ve been wondering about: when the game updates, does it automatically clean up a trash can outside of my home or is someone coming to my town and picking up my trash can as a task? (Because I kick them over and sometimes they go back to being in a normal upright position)
Neighbours cannot affect what happens on your game so it won’t be them, it probably just automatically cleans up after some time
The task I have is Make preteen complain and I’ve been doing that but it’s not working.
There is a glitch where some tasks don’t recognise that you have completed them, unfortunately I cannot fix this for you but you could contact EA to see if they know about the problem on this task so they can fix it, sorry!

you need to buy a frisbee and put it at the house with a dog, click on the frisbee and you can play with it with the dog.
My weekly task says “Grow beans- Nothing like a good, old fashion, bean planting session”
I used the garden patch to grow beans for the 9 hours and it didn’t work. Did I do the right thing? Or is this a glitch?
Yes you definitely did the right thing, maybe you could try it again? If it still doesn’t work this may be a glitch where the game isn’t recognising it as being completed

There seems to be a glitch at the moment where the game isn’t recognising when you complete some goals so this may be one of them, there isn’t much I can suggest really, you could contact EA and let them know this goal doesn’t work, you could try skipping with LPs or you could wait for the next update as it will complete the goal for you when you update your game.
As for the social task you can cause an oven fire by baking brownies, it may take a few goes but it will cause a fire for you to put out
I have two problems. First is my social task ‘Have a Sim design fashion in a neighbor’s house’ because none of my neighbors have fashion studio.
And the second problem is that I have only one neighbor. I have Nokia Lumia 930. Is the problem in my mobile phone or what? How can I add more neighbors on my Party boat?
I am not sure what methods there are to add neighbours on a Nokia but if you go to save to the cloud (https://thegirlwhogames.wordpress.com/2014/09/24/the-sims-freeplay-the-cloud/) it will show you the options.
You may have the option to add from facebook so to do this you need to connect your game to your facebook then any of your friends that play you will see in your party boat (https://thegirlwhogames.wordpress.com/2014/09/23/the-sims-freeplay-adding-neighbours/)
Once you can connect you can add neighbours to be able to complete the design fashion task, without neighbours you only have the built in neighbourhood which isn’t very good.
The weekly task is ‘buy a dog’ which I did but the task didn’t complete.
Any ideas?

What is a kitchen bench? It’s one of my weekly tasks and I can’t find it in the store. Where do I get it? Or do I have to wait until I reach a certain level?
This is misleading because in the store they are called counter tops, the tab for them is next to the kitchen section

I have a task to Go Fishing between 6pm and 12 am and I’ve been trying for a few times now. I tried it at exact 6pm and the next one past 6pm but i still can’t complete the task.

This is not a task for the chocolatier hobby. It’s a task for the stove.
After like 3 days I finally discovered that it really should be “bake” heart shaped chocolates.

It does say in this post under park about this goal, you need to click on a sim at the park to get this option.

Pearls are for the monuments and orbs are used to build the pet park, beach, arcade and carnival.

I’m trying to complete a social task of “Collect a ghost in a neighbor’s town.” The version for my type of phone doesn’t allow me to connect with facebook friends to use their towns so I am stuck using the only neighboring town they provide us. Conveniently enough, none of the homes in that town have haunted items… How do I complete this then? Especially since I don’t want to waste 10 LP’s to skip it!
Without being able to add neighbours you are going to find completing social tasks very difficult, another simtown doesn’t have enough in it to complete all social tasks so you will either have to skip with LPs or just not complete social tasks.
Ok. So I read the post and all the comments. Maybe it’s obvious to some people but not to me. Do the amount of keys also reset at the end of the week, or do they continuously roll over. Thanks!

Also from what I remember I got a Bean Bag, Floral breeze, 35LP, 10SP, $14000, 6 Radio/microphone (for sim town sign), 3 pearls, 3 chisels. (Pretty sure that’s it)

On this weekly task, I’ve had to do LONG tasks that are 18 hours and another 1 that takes a day. Before this I had to have four sims working as athletes but I didn’t have the stadium so I started to build that, and the next day it came up with a tick for the task, but the stadium wasn’t even finished building so none of them were working as athletes yet. is this a glitch? Then I had to bake croissants for 18 hours, then I had a shorter task and then grow strawberries which took a day, and now I have to grow a burger plant that takes 18 hours. I only have two days to complete it and I’m not even halfway because of their task times. Is this a glitch or just bad luck?
Did you update your game before the goal completed? If so, when you open the game after updating it will complete the goal you were currently on.
And it is just bad luck that you have had all long tasks, some weeks you may get really long tasks or a lot of short ones

weekly tasks start a career as a politician sim politicians must have a strong principles and a willingness to change those priciples at the drop of a hat. visit the town hall and make an aspiring politician ……cant figure this out i tried cliking on town hall i bought the mirror did the speech plz help thks
You need to give a sim a job as a politician so go to the career tab, click on an unemployed sim and give them a job at the town hall.

I think you have to buy a chair, not a couch. You won’t be able to find one if you are on a lower level. Weekly tasks aren’t usually easy to complete if you have just started the game.
Do you know if the Fortune Box still has the same prizes ? I was going to open one now. I opened one before and had same things youve listed above. Should I open one now or go for Bounty Box?
