Once you have completed the Book of Spells Quest you will be able to find the wizard in the park to start this quest. If you complete this quest in the time limit you will unlock the wizards cottage, you can still complete this quest once the time is up to unlock the potion brewing hobby you just won’t get the cottage
You cannot complete this quest at the same time as any other discovery quest
HOW LONG DOES THIS QUEST TAKE TO COMPLETE?
Times may vary depending on the star rating an item has
- Talk to the Wizard- 1 minute
- Examine the crystal ball (next to the wizard in the park)
- Ask the Wizard- 1 minute (in park)
- Read real world magic- 1 hour (bookshelf)
- Invite a sim to a dinner party- 3 hours 15 minutes (select interaction between two sims)
- Send two sims to the park
- Explain about imagination- 5 hours 15 minutes (select interaction between two sims)
- Have two sims sit at the dinner table- 5 minutes (in park) GLITCH- if your sims are unable to sit at the table, leave the park and go back, your sims need to sit down quickly before the other characters can.
- Check in with the Wizard- 1 hour 15 minutes
- Dream of magic- 19 hours (bed)
- Tell a sim about dream- 5 minutes (select interaction between two sims)
- Dance wildly in the rain- 12 hours 15 minutes (select interaction between two sims)
- Have two sims kiss in the rain- 1 minute (select interaction between two sims)
- Talk to the Wizard- 15 minutes (at a sims house)

You can now complete the Potion Brewing hobby by buying the potion brewing cauldron from promotions r us or the sorcerous supplies store. The time limit for the hobby begins as soon as you complete this quest

Cost? First one should be free after that they cost simoleons (amount depends on how many other houses you already have built)
Is it worth it? Definitely! The cottage is really nice, it can be built on standard or premium residence, the premium residence has a library at the end of the garden!

How do I start this discovery quest?
Firstly you need to complete the book of spells quest then you can find the wizard in the park to start this quest
Can I do discovery quests at the same time as a main quest?
Yes you can
Why can’t I do this discovery quest yet?
You cannot do more than one discovery quest at the same time, if you are currently on another one (the list can be found here) you will not be able to do this one until that one is completed
Do I have to do this quest?
If you don’t start the quest you don’t have to do it at all but if you have already started it you need to complete it before you can move on to the next quest
I haven’t started this quest yet, will it still be available when I want to do it?
Yes it will be, you can choose to start it whenever you like
I can’t get two sims to sit at the dinner table, everyone sits down before them!
There is a glitch on this goal, leave the park and go back, your sims need to sit down quickly before the other characters can

No, you cannot redo quests
Can I still get the prize if I don’t complete in the time limit?
No, the only way to get the limited time prizes is by completing the quest in the time limit

Yes, the time limit for the hobby starts straight away once this quest is complete, you can click no when the hobby pop up appears but this does not stop the timer going down

Hey, once you’re finished with the hobby can you post if there’s any objects in the wizard’s cottage that are not available on the furniture pack and which ones are those? I unlocked the cottage but I’m not sure if can be bothered to build it since it’s pretty expensive for me, might just design one by myself if I’m not missing out on any cool furniture.
A lot of the items in the house you cannot buy such as the bathroom, bedroom and dining room so it is well worth building
Is this quest a Discovery Quest? If I’m not mistaken, The Book of Spells is a Discovery Quest. You mentioned this one couldn’t be done until The Book of Spells had been done. So, I just wanted to check on that so I knew which quests couldn’t overlap each other, for I also know Discovery Quests can’t. Thanks again for your blog, it is VERY helpfull!!

So I’ve completed the saved by the spell quest except for high fiving the wizard. When I sent my sim to the wizard’s cottage, the wizard wasn’t there. I’ve searched elsewhere online and see that other people have this issue, too, but I haven’t been able to find an answer. I figured if anyone can figure it out, it would be you!

I’ve just started this quest. I’ve spoken to the wizard and the option to examine the crystal ball has popped up which I clicked. Every time I do though it throws me out the game and stops all the other activities my other sims are doing!!! Which is really annoying because some were half way through tasks and now I have to start again! Do you know what I should do? I’ve restarted the game and my phone!
It’s eating into my time limit!! And I want the Wizards house aggghhhh

I usually suggest restarting your device but as you have done that and it didn’t work you may need to contact EA to see if they can fix this problem for you, sorry!

I completed almost all of the Saved by the Spell, The last step I have to high five the wizard. As indicated, I went to the cottage but there is no wizard to high five. I have looked all over for him. Any suggestions or is it a glitch?

I’ve had the wizard’s cottage for a few hours now, and I really like it. It’s very rustic. I did have to expand some of the rooms. I expanded the bathroom to connect it with the rest of the house. I wasn’t really feeling the whole “outhouse” thing. I also added a corridor and a transition room to link the library to the rest of the house. I generally prefer all sections of the house to be connected. It has worked out nicely as the transition room gave me space to put a magical bookcase without disturbing the general setup of the library. I did expand the library though so that I could fit a magic wand podium. Has anyone noticed that it’s always daylight at the cottage? It’s currently night time, but the cottage is still magically bathed in daylight. I wonder if that’s permanent.

I hope they can repeat that time again because there is a lot of people got bug like that too and its not their device fault…
Maybe you should contact EA and ask them if there is anything they can do as it wasn’t your fault!
For anyone whose wizard is missing for the “high five the wizard task” – I FINALLY FOUND HIM! In an act of desperation I just went to every house and other building, and I found him at the castle! As soon as I found him, he started walking home/leaving. Then I had a sim go to the park, and crystal ball to the cottage and there he was! I just read someone else found him in one of their houses, so it might be random. Just look around!

I got up to the last task (high five the wizard) on the new quest ‘saved by the spell’ but I can’t find the wizard anyway! I went to his cottage and he was not there, I also checked the park,some of the houses and the sim tracker to see if I could control where he is but no. So annoying 😦 I have tried closing the app and re-opening it but again, no! Also because of this problem I didn’t complete it within the special timeframe. Please, any suggestions? Thank you x

Just curious, what is you town value, because in your picture, it showed the houses being really cheap, but then all my houses are at LEAST 400,000 simoleons but I’m hoping you’ll tell me that the cottage is just cheaper, because tbh, I spend all my money really fast and don’t have any lol-Thank you!!!!

I’m just confused…I build the wizards cottage but it doesn’the look like the pictures you have here…or the preview before building it…well…it does have the house the trees and all that good stuff…the ONLY difference is the outside grounds and the fence surrounding it…it looks clean..it doesn’t have that fall look…I’m not sure I’m explaining correctly…sorry…the wall surrounding the cottage is the wall from the Latin villa and I don’t like it…why did it look like this!? (Sad sad)

The Mysterious Island has a default theme which overrides the Wizards Cottage theme when it is built on the Island.

I built the wizards cottage on a premium residence. Buy when I viewed it before building it, it had a special fence/boundary that no other house has and some fallen leaves around it..but now that I have build it, it has the same fence/boundary as any other premium residence house has and the leaves are missing too….so I viewed the house again for building on another lot and it agains shows the new fence and the leaves…..
Is anyone else facing this problem or is it just me?? My town value is very high so I spent a lot of money to build it and it also took 3 days. And now im very sad about it bc I wanted it perfect… 😦
did you build it on the mysterious island? If so the mysterious island has a default theme which annoyingly overrides the Wizards Cottage theme when it is built on the island

I exited and then went back to the park. When the table is empty click to sit down and then click for the other sim to “join in”. the wizard is still at the park , I did the potion brewing but don’t have any of the wizards costumes
