You will also be able to complete the Woodworking hobby using the benches at the community center
You unlock stairs and firepoles even if you don’t finish the quest in time
Once you complete the patio, balcony and basement quests you will unlock 4 more stairs:

Time Limited Prize: Elevators and Escalators
Is the prize worth it? Yes, there are some really nice elevators and escalators available but you do have to buy them, it also is quite tricky to complete the quest within the time limit especially if it takes you ages to save up and build the community center.
Where can I find them? In the stairs section of the home store.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT THIS QUEST
please read before asking
I have missed this quest! Why can’t I start it yet?
You cannot miss main quests they have to be completed in order. You need to complete all previous quests (list can be found here) and reach level 17 before you can start this quest
Can I complete this quest even though I have passed level 17?
Yes, you just need to complete all previous quests then this quest will start automatically
I can’t afford the community center, how can I earn more simoleons?
This post may help
The game says I have to complete the multi story renovations quest to be able to build the community center, what is the problem?
There is no problem, you have to start the multi story quest and the first goal is to build the community center so you cannot build it until you get that first goal in the quest
How do I send my sim to the community center?
Go to the community center and click on the whistle next to a sim who isn’t busy on the simtracker, this post explains more about the simtracker
I don’t understand what you mean when you say you can do both call the home store/ hotline goals at once to save time?
This goal appears twice so it is like being able to start a goal early that you have access to (read the question below if you don’t understand this) to do this you need two sims and two different houses:
1- When you get the goal to call home store you can set sim 1 to do the task
2- In a different house which you need to stay away from until you get the second goal you can have sim 2 also do the task
3- When sim 1 is done you complete the goal the first time
4- Wait until you get the goal again to call home store and you can go to sim 2 to complete it straight away!
What do you mean when you say a goal can be started early?
Any goal that you can normally do can be started early because you will have access to it and any goal that you can’t normally do you will have to wait until you get the goal to be able to complete it
The tip with this method is to put the sim doing that action early in a different house that you cannot go to until you get that goal or it will not work
Does it matter if the banana bread burns? Will the goal still complete?
The goal will still complete even if it causes a fire
I crafted the 1st set of woodworking items before I got the task to, my game now won’t complete the goal, what should I do?
You will need to find the next 3 items in the second row to complete this goal
What do I get if I complete this quest in the time limit?
Elevators and escalators
What happens if I don’t complete in the time limit, can I still finish this quest?
Yes you have to finish it to unlock the ability to add up to 5 floors to your houses as well as unlocking stairs and firepoles before you can move onto the next quest
I didn’t complete in the time limit, can I restart the quest?
No, you cannot redo quests
Can I still get the prize if I don’t complete in the time limit?
No, the only way to get the limited time prizes is by completing the quest in the time limit
I don’t like this quest! Can I just skip it?
No, you have to complete this quest before you can move onto the next one
I completed the quest but I cannot place stairs, why?
Firstly make sure you have rooms upstairs and also give this post a read, it explains how to add stairs to a house
Some times are slightly different on my game, why is this?
Times may vary depending on the star rating of the item you are using, as the higher star rating an item has the quicker you will complete a goal
Some times are really off/ different goals show for me, why is this?
This will be because the quest has been updated recently, I try my best to keep these posts up to date but it is difficult as I cannot redo every quest each time the game is updated. If you notice any changes please let me know so I can update the post
The next quest is Teenagers so you can age your preteens to teenagers!

[…] The next quest unlocks multi story levels for your houses, the Multi Story Renovations post can be found here: https://thegirlwhogames.wordpress.com/2014/04/26/the-sims-freeplay-multi-story-renovations-quest/ […]
I was upset when I didn’t complete this quest in time. I did not care much for some of the quest prizes, but this one (for the elevators) was particularly upsetting not to finish in time. I had saved up extra premium points and was doing all the shortcuts so I had done all but the last task nearly two days ahead of time. Then I was busy trying to earn simoleans and LPs for the following quest requirements when I actually forgot to finish this quest (I got distracted by some outdoor chores).
By the time I remembered, I was so upset I actually quit playing for a few weeks. Finally, out of desperation to salvage the game, and without wanting to completely restart from scratch just for elevators, I let it stay on that last task for a few more weeks while I earned enough simoleans and LPs to carry through the next several quests.
Still, distraught over this minor error on my part, and ranting profusely about the unjustness of the limited time prizes and the consequential requirements of starting over (losing EVERYTHING); I just settled and moved on – though with much less enthusiasm than I had enjoyed for nearly 5 uninterrupted months prior.
Then, a small glimmer of hope opened on the horizon… the Halloween quest offered a spooky elevator prize. Well, though this felt like a booby prize compared to the other elevators, it did offer me a chance to have elevators in my houses that were designed like shops and other businesses. Before the shopping mall was added to the game, I was making my own smaller indoor malls on house lots…though no escalators, I could at least use the spooky elevator to simulate normalcy (less the haunted aspect).
So, for those who are just now getting through this quest and are finding that you can’t or didn’t finish on time (too little simoleans/LPs/time), just be saving up for a backup elevator that might be available next October.
Of course, it would be nice if EA and their cronies would unlock some of the older prizes after a while, the exclusive advantages of those who started playing much earlier than everyone else is getting boring.
I’m about the same, have been playing a ridiculous amount since installing, have by and large managed to complete the quests on time, then this quest comes and I have no chance of completing as I’d drained my $ completing other concurrent quests, will be lucky to even get to the $500k I need just to build the community centre within 6d let alone complete the rest of the tasks! I have about 100 LPs in the kitty but looking at the tasks I’d have to throw the lot and then some to try to get the quest done in time. Six days seems very tight when you don’t know in advance that you’re going to need the cash, I guess the lesson to learn is to always have $600k tucked away for a rainy day, many quests seem to start with building something. Would be fairer if the quest countdown started from the time that the building was finished. I’m on level 35 and it will take 2.5 days to build!
I’m on this quest now and I’d have no chance to complete it on time, if not for neighbours pet farms! Thanks to the addition of the mall (and maybe other inclusions, since the original quest line was set) the sheer amount of time required to build the center, makes it impossible for me to complete this quest, without quite a lot of LPs.
I agree EA should make prizes re-available sometime. I’ve missed out on at least the owl, the dragon, the unicorn picture and the villa. Tasks failed to register, for both the owl and the dragon and after getting nowhere with support, I simply gave up! I don’t understand why EA don’t just make the tasks reoccur after a certain amount of time?
I agree! EA should have some kind of warning on the last two days of the previos quest, like: For the next quest, you’ll need to build _________! Start saving your money now!
And for the Latin Villa, it’s pretty easy. For those that didn’t start A Dance To Remember yet, see if you can finish the quest at night. Then use the Extended Mambo option with a salsa jukebox to start the hobby. Your sim will gain experience and get a trophy! If you are able to, check up on your sims before school, collect the medal, and do extended mambo again. When you get home and they are finished, do the shorter one. Keep doing this until you get all the prizes. If You don’t get all within the limit, use lucky spin about an hour before the timer expires. You should also start saving up your social points when you start this quest because if you get the villa, it costs 175 sp! I unlocked it two months ago and I play every day of every week. Yet I’m still short 55! And now that the current goal requires a tween ( and I don’t want to age a toddler until Juliet Sanchez gets her baby brother and all the families are complete) I depend on the one, single social point I get from watching ads. *Sigh*
Thanks for the blog it helps a lot.
you’re welcome!
how much was your community center? i have 12 people and on level 24….
Sorry I can’t remember how much it cost me, the price depends on how many buildings you have already built
I’m on Level 26 and it cost me 300,000 (2,896,000 town value). Cut into my savings!
How many Sims do you need for the community centre?
It depends on how many buildings you have already built
If you dont finish it in time, can you still get stairs?
Yes you just won’t get the elevators or escalators
How much do stairs cost
from 30,000 to 195,000
What about fire poles? In the quest queue, it said I would also get fire poles, but you haven’t mentioned them…
you get firepoles and stairs regardless of when you finish the quest
I’m quite disappointed, Im on this level now and know for a fact I won’t finish in time. The second I started the quest I starting building the community center right away as I had saved up before hand. It’s taking over 2 days which leaves not even 4 days to complete it which is impossible. I know there’s nothing you can do but it’s completely unfair as this is probably one of the best prizes. Just wish it was possible without spending around 40 LPs.
My friend and i have a problem.
I build a house and my friend wanted to see my house ,but then my house was gone!!!!!
Do you know what the problem is??
Do you mean the house you created can’t be seen on your friends game? The problem is they aren’t seeing the most up to date version of your game so you need to connect to the cloud so they can see it, this post explains how to do it: https://thegirlwhogames.wordpress.com/2014/09/24/the-sims-freeplay-the-cloud/
Hi. I have already sent this but I cannot for the life of me remember which post i said it on. So I’ll say it again, is there anyway to link your sims through email? I am to young to have Facebook and my tablet recently broke and I thought I had lost my sims (my tablet is fixed now).
Thanks so much for your blog, I would have given up ages ago if it wasn’t for you!
I don’t remember answering that question before
No sorry there isn’t
You’re welcome
I have crafted the second set but it won’t let me move on for an other quest , what do I do? I crafted the first set before this task
You might have to just keep doing the hobby until it completes the goal
I don’t understand what you mean when you were talking about the two sims and “call the home store.” Can you explain it again?
One sim calls the home store at one house, another sim calls the home store at another house, leave the second sim calling until you get the goal the second time to call the home store, then go to the second sim and they will complete the goal straight away.
Do you have to get to the second home store goal before the second sim finishes the call? I don’t understand how it is possible
No you just stay away from the house where the sim is doing that goal, they will finish early but don’t go there until you get the goal or you will have to do it all over again.
I haven’t done the quest yet but I was wondering can u get stairs or slides or anything for 2 story houses? I really want to know
Like it says in the post complete the quest to unlock stairs
complete in time to also get elevators and escalators.
Dear lord….thanks for listing all the times. I’m building the community center right now(2 days 5 hours) and there’s NO WAY you can get this quest done in six days without spending at least 50 LP. Just adding up what you’ve listed above comes to almost five days alone NOT including building the center. Sheesh…thanks for all the great info, but since the elevators are so expensive i wonder if it’s really worth it since I have to garden constantly to build up money
Help me !!!!!! When I press on the phone I don’t get the option ‘ call home store’
Please reply soon thanx
It may be called ‘hotline’
Thank you 👍
you’re welcome!
Sorry I said that by accident! What I was meant to say is how much does the second floor cost? Is it the same as the ground floor?
P.S thanks for the blogs I wake up go on sims look what task I’m on log into the girl who games ! Its really helpful so I can start tasks like banana bread and call home store early! 🙂
A second floor costs 300,000 and a third floor costs 100LPs
You’re welcome! I’m glad it helps! 🙂
Hi! I’m just curious about the dimension sizes of stairs/escalators/elevators.
Could you put them in your post? Please and thank you.
I have added those to the post for you.
I was wondering do you think I will do the quest in the prize time limit because it takes 2 days and 18 ours to build my community center I build it write away by the way😞
this is a difficult quest to complete in the time, you may need to use some LPs to speed up some tasks to get it done in the time limit
Adding the time to do each task plus the time for building the community center, even if I managed to start a quest right after the end of the previous, it would take around 8days to finish it without LPs. Not very fair
Do you know if any house types come with an elevator and if there is, will the elevator be transferable? So sorry if this question has been asked already, I tried reading some comments to check if it has. Also, I love you and this blog! Super helpful and you help make this game more fun! ❤
None of the houses comes with an elevator, but if it did you could move it, same with stairs
Thanks! I’m glad it helps 🙂
I’m sorry to bother you, but I have a question that is nothing to do about this quest. I’m on the Ringlets of fire quest and i put some of my sims to do it, just like you did. When I’m done, i wish i could change their hobbies. Will i lose every hair I’ve got or will them stay with me, even if i change the hobbies and “lose all progress” I had? Thanx :*
in future please comment on the right post, there is a post for the ringlets of fire.
yes you can change their hobby once you have completed the quest and will keep all the hair.
Thank you! And again, I’m sorry
Hi, i have recently explored a neighbours town to find she has a house with 6 stories. How is this possible? I tried to see if one of mine would go past the 3 but it seemed to just highlight the third floor that was already present and not a fourth. Thanks in advance. 😀
They have cheated to get more floors, it is something that I definitely wouldn’t recommend doing!
Ahhh, well that is annoying. I really like getting creative with the houses i do, and there is not too much going on in this house i mentioned, it was just the fact she has six floors! Thanks for your response 🙂
Yeah, I usually find that most people who have so many floors on their houses don’t even make them look nice, they are usually empty- what is the point in cheating then? 😛
Hi, 😃 first of all, I’m literally in love with your blog. (Crazy in love xD) I would like to buy the Two Story Mansion but it costs me 149,500S is that normal that it is so cheap? I’m a level 27 and my town cost about 2 million S … I have 106 000 S right now …. Is it a glitch that it is so cheap? I’m so excited but scared that it’s a glitch ….
I don’t think it is a glitch, the price depends on how many other houses you have already built, but you don’t need to be scared once you have enough money buy it 🙂
OMG thank you I love you so much 💙💙💙💙💙
I missed this quest cause the comunity center taked more than 24 hours to build . So will I ever get the elevators ? I can buy then I somewhere ? I just hope I win them in the xmas an halloween
No sorry you can’t get them anywhere else.
When making a second floor, do you just buy the stairs you want or do you have to pay an additional fee including the cost for the stairs?
you have to buy the second floor which costs 300,000 and then you have to buy stairs
Is there a specific place I have to put the stairs in order to buy them? I finished this quest and purchased a second floor but no matter where I try to put stairs, it stays red and doesn’t give me the option to purchase them and place them where I want. Help!
Read this post: https://thegirlwhogames.wordpress.com/2014/08/30/the-sims-freeplay-adding-stairs/
Just wanted to let you know that the time varies for the phone call. Mine was only nineteen hours.
Btw I think your blog is AWESOME it makes sims so much fun and gives me a chance at actually getting the extra time limit prize
I have looked at other websites but your is by far the best
Thank you😃
Thanks for letting me know
Thanks! You’re welcome 🙂
Hi, I’ve done this quest within the time limit but I can’t find my escalators and elevators anywhere in the homestore! Why is that?! I’m so upset since I spend lots LPs to finish the quest on time… 😦
they should be in the stairs section
I can’t find the two story mansion do u have to finish the multi story renovation first
yes you have to finish that quest first
Hi. Just a follow up question like Lisa’s about the baby and the crib. How do I move the crib (with the baby) to the second floor?
click on the crib, select the up floors button and it will be on that floor, click the green tick to place it
That’s my problem, note that baby is on the crib, and if i click the crib there’s no option for going to the second floor. I noticed that the baby can be remove but still cant be brought up the second floor.
you should have the upstairs button (as shown in the post) in the corner of your screen at all times while at the house that has a second or third floor
select the crib, click the button to go up and the crib should go up too
Oh i found the problem. I thought the up/down button isn’t showing whenever click the crib. Turns out it actually still does appear but on the bottom left part only when i click the crib, instead of its usual place on the upper right part. Thanks!
I can’t find the community center, are you sure it’s not the competition center?
no it is the community center, you can’t go into the competition center, this post will show you where it is: https://thegirlwhogames.wordpress.com/2014/06/26/the-sims-freeplay-town-map/
Could you save time having a sim bake banana bread at a separate house and leaving them alone too like you do with the 2nd sim on the phone until you get to the banana bread goal? Then go back for them and save another 20 hours?
yes
How much is the community center? how much was it for you?
I can’t remember how much it cost me but I think it is over 100,000
K thx
Hi thanks so much for yourhelpful blogs if it wasnt for you i would of quit the sims a long time ago and i think many other people would of done the same. Thanks so much ur the best!
you’re welcome! thanks 🙂
It says I have to complete this quest to be able to build the community center
you need to start this quest and get the goal to build the community center before you can build it.
I’d somehow managed to get to level 37 before hitting this quest (I think it was all the cooking) so even though I had enough cash to start building the community centre at once, it took FOUR DAYS and now I only have three to do everything else. Not sure I’ll manage it. 😦
that’s annoying
If you don’t get the elevator pack when you finish the quest in time, will you still be able to buy the elevators?
no sorry you can’t
For this quest, you mention about having a sim in a remote house do the “call the home store” at the same time as a sim in a primary house. Would something like this work for all the quests? Where you have sims in different houses doing different steps of the quest (ones that don’t require prior steps to have been completed to open the dialogue option) but not clicking on that house until the proper time?
Yes it will work: https://thegirlwhogames.wordpress.com/2014/11/11/the-sims-freeplay-starting-goals-early/
Is there a way we can buy them even if we don’t make it on time? Like from iTunes or something??
no you can’t, sorry
Not sure if my game glitched but I went straight from the “creative chat with sim” to “talk to wumples,” completely skipping the second time you have to call the home store hotline. Anyone else have this happen?
Hey I am on this quest and I have to get the first set of woodworking items so what is the fastest way to get the first line and thanks so much theese really help me 😀
Have as many sims as you can doing the 10 minute option would be the quickest way, you’re welcome!
Calling the homestore hotline takes 21 hours with my 3 star phone
updated.
Just wanted to update… I can’t build my community center until complete the multiple story renovation quest.. I am sooo confused on how to start it. If I click on bree she says I have to complete the multiple, story quest… Dang game tell me! Btw to all who are complaining about it being impossible to complete quests in time… Its because the game, isn’t really free. If you want to have fun in the game you have to actually buy Simoleons, LP and SP
you need to get the goal to build the community center in the quest before you can build it.
As teresa said, to build the community center it says we have to complete this exact quest, how can we get to the quest when it now requires the multiple story quest to be completed before building the community center? Some of these quests are probably all in queue, just dont get it because I have purchased $ and LP and have 14 quests… i only have 2 active tasks because I completed the weekly tasks early. sucks when you can on;ly build one place at a time… i think somethign changed with quests because every tutorial for this says to build the community center. Us newer users cant build it until we do this quest and now have no idea how to even start it. Bree is wandering the park waiting for the balcony quest after building the community center. I feel stuck in the game, probably am going to lose interest now…
You have to get the goal in the quest to build the community center before you can build it
What quest are you on now? As quests have to be completed in order so this quest should be in your queue.
I’m currently on the quest to build the restaurant… but I don’t have enough to $ build it now because I just blew money on a pool because I only had 2 active quests. It does show in quest cue, but guess I won’t be getting there anytime soon until I have real $ to use in the game. $350K for a stupid restaurant is ridiculous lol
This post may help you make money: https://thegirlwhogames.wordpress.com/2014/02/27/the-sims-freeplay-15-ways-to-make-money-and-lps/
The quest won’t start for me.. Nothing has happened. Is there a way I can trigger to start? I may have already done it but missed the time limit. Does this mean I can’t get a second chance?
Do you have the ability to add second and third floors to your houses? if so you have done the quest, if not you haven’t
If you have you can’t do the quest again
if you haven’t you will need to complete previous quests before you can do this one
If you can only get four sims per household can you get more when you add a floor?!
No four is the maximum regardless of how many floors you have
[…] THE BALCONY QUEST: you need to have completed the multi story renovations quest then you will find Bree at the community […]
[…] start this quest you need to have first completed the peaceful patios and the multi story renovations quests (it may take a few days for this quest to show once that quest has been completed, I would […]
If I have completed the first set of woodworking items and 1 on the second row do I just have to find the second 2. do I have to do the next line aswell
Thanks .
If you found the first row before you got the goal then yes you will need to find the second row.
Are there new elevators in this new update recently? If so can you post some pictures of them because I’m coming up to this quest and I want to know if the elevators are worth it❤️❤️
No there isn’t.
I can not get the quests to appear in the active tasks at all! i have reinstalled and everything…. but these darn quests are not appearing. I have contacted firemonkeys…. 😦 i can’t build patios or anything…. My friend is having the same problem we are stuck
have you found Bree in the park to start the patio quest?
