Once you have completed this quest you will be able to start the ghost hunting hobby! If you complete this quest in the time limit you will unlock the haunted house. You can still complete this quest once the time limit is up to unlock the hobby but you won’t get the haunted house

- Send a sim to the park
- Hide in the public toilet in the park- 36 seconds
- Buy the spooky painting (from the decorations section- red ghost icon in corner- free)
NOTE: items in the store with the red ghost symbol are haunted items, once you complete this quest you can click on these objects to search for ghosts to complete the ghost hunting hobby
- Hide from the painting- 40 seconds
- Drink a herbal tea- 2 minutes
- Complain to the toilet- 5 hours
- Complain to a spooky painting- 5 hours 30 minutes
- Get 4 sims in the park
- Hold a conference on a soapbox in the park- 19 hours 36 minutes
- Look for ghosts with a video camera (in the park)- 16 hours 30 minutes
- Buy another spooky painting- free
- Buy spooky bookshelf- S200
- Read fine literature- 9 hours 30 minutes (using a 3 star bookcase, it takes longer on spooky bookshelf as it is only a one star bookcase (can be started early))
- Buy spooky chains- S180
- Tell jokes to the spooky chains- 4 hours 30 minutes

Is the prize worth it? Yes it really is, its a cool house with lots of haunted items already in it, if you count up the amount of items that cost LP in the house, buying this house is cheaper than making a similar one yourself!
Cost? The first one is free then after that it costs simoleons, price varies on the amount of houses you already have built

I have missed this quest! Why can’t I start it yet?
You cannot miss main quests they have to be completed in order. You need to complete all previous quests (list can be found here) and reach level 22 before you can start this quest
Can I complete this quest even though I have passed level 22?
Yes, you just need to complete all previous quests then this quest will start automatically
How do I send my sim to the park?
Go to the park and click on the whistle next to a sim who isn’t busy on the simtracker, this post explains more about the simtracker
Why do blue footprints appear when I try to use an item?
Blue footprints appear when your sim cannot access an item you want them to use, you need to either rotate the item or move an item that has been placed in front of it so they can use it
What do you mean when you say a goal can be started early?
Any goal that you can normally do can be started early because you will have access to it and any goal that you can’t normally do you will have to wait until you get the goal to be able to complete it
The tip with this method is to put the sim doing that action early in a different house that you cannot go to until you get that goal or it will not work
What do I get if I complete this quest in the time limit?

Yes you have to finish it to unlock the ghost hunting hobby before you can move onto the next quest

No, you cannot redo quests

No, the only way to get the limited time prizes is by completing the quest in the time limit

My sims game keeps freezing & all the sims that was at work have all come home so they don’t get any money
Mine does that a lot, you need to remember when it does it the most, mine usually does it when I go to the town map, click on the mailbox (so I can’t collect my daily rewards) and snow park as well if I have 4 sims living in a 2 story house so I have to try and avoid those things, it’s annoying but it’s less annoying than your game crashing every 5 minutes 🙂

You need to complete the alien concept: weather machine quest to unlock the weather machine which unlocks from level 16

Is there something in front of the painting?
Try moving the painting to another spot in the house, that worked for me.

Oh,that’s easy! Just move anything that’s in front of the painting to somewhere else!

Hey! 🙂 I’m level 28 on Sims Free Play and really want to go ghost hunting and complete the quest so I can buy the haunted house. I already have a few haunted items (from collecting 10 keys and receiving items) but It won’t let me hunt for ghosts even when the haunted items are fully charged — I also have yet to come across the ghost hunting quest —- am I missing something? I’m confused lol

Does anyone know if there is a difference in the contents of the haunted mansion if you buy it on one of the smaller (non-seaside) plots? It’s a 10 lp difference, so it’s tempting to go with the smaller plot, but is it the same house and items?

Hi how do u get the haunted house I just completed the quest and I can’t find the house anywhere. I did complete the quest in time. It said congratulations you’ve unlocked ghost hunting but the next window that comes up that usually says congrats you’ve completed the quest in time and get a prize or oh no you didn’t complete the quest in time, never showed up. So I was kinda confused. I know I comepleted the quest in time but I can’t find where to buy the house. I looked at the different house plots and even on the online store. But it doesn’t seem to be anywhere. Could it be a glitch or am I doing something wrong.
If you click on an unbuilt house plot it will show you the list of all the houses you can build so have a look through that list as it should be in there
I looked but the haunted house isn’t there.

This is a glitch, the only way you can fix it is by contacting EA, keep trying, they will get back to you eventually.

Yay!! I just finished the quest in time to be able to buy the haunted house! Bbt have a quick question, in the ghost hunting hobby, you get three ghosts (going by the rows) and then you ‘win’ the opportunity to buy things like Halloween floors and wallpaper, and Halloween party table etc —- what about the elevator one? If I didn’t do the quest for elevators in time, will I still be able to get the haunted elevator? Just wondering lol thanks! 😀

so my game was glitched and couldnt complete the ghost hunting quest on time. the only item i could buy from the home store is the stack of magazines. however after the christmas update my game has been back to normal again. is there anyway i can get the haunted house because obviously i have missed the deadline? i have tried contacting ea about this matter and before aswel when i had problems but they just dont reply back. i do apologise about my grammer.
Sorry there isn’t a way to get it unless you restarted your whole game from the beginning.

I’m stuck on reading fine literature. I looked for it on the bookcase (the regular 3 star one I have) and it wasn’t there… Help? I also looked for it on the spooky bookcase and it wasn’t there either, any ideas where I might be able to find it?
are you using an adult sim? It is on every bookcase
I just wanted to suggest something that might work for those that are having a glitch problem. Try uploading to the cloud, clear your Sims Freeplay data from your device (delete). Re-install and download the saved data from the cloud. This may help if you haven’t tried it, give it a go.
Is this the quest you get werewolf and vampire costumes?
the werewolf costume should already be in the costume and swim store but you don’t get a vampire one

I just finished this quest and the haunted house cost 47lp to build on a premium lot. Not sure if that has to do with the value of my town, but if not I just thought I’d let you know there was a price increase! It’s still totally worth it!

Hi this doesn’t appear on my list I already did the adulthood and I’m on the senior quest as of now. Out of no where the long hair quest popped up when the hair quest wasn’t shown as one of the upcoming quests. Does that mean I might get the haunted house quest eventually? I would really love to get this house!
Do you already have haunted items and the ghost hunting hobby? If you do then you probably got it before they added this quest to the game, in that case you won’t do this quest and unfortunately you can’t get this house, sorry!
In the ghost hunters quest it says to read fine literature, that is not an option with the spooky bookcase. Am I missing something or should I just use a regular bookcase for this task?!
You option should be on the spooky bookcase, but it does say in the post I used a normal 3 star bookcase as it was quicker.

Your blog is my go to for this game! thank you so much for it! Im looking at my quest line up right now and i cant seem to find this ghost hunters quest on it. It lists adulthood available from level 21 and then goes to seniors available from level 23. Nothing on the 22 for me. Does this mean this hobby is not going to be available for me? 😦 Would you know why this is the case?
