The Sims Freeplay- Adding Neighbours

If you are playing on an Apple product you have the choice between Game Center and/or Facebook to add neighbours (although they have now made the Game Center option difficult) and if you are on an Android you will have the option of Facebook only as Google+ is no longer available.

Apple and Androids: Connecting The Sims Freeplay to Facebook

To add a neighbour using Facebook you need to have your game connected to your account, to do this log into the Facebook app then go to settings in the Sims Freeplay (the green button with 3 white dots in it) and you will see these options appear:

Click on the key button (bottom right) and it will say not signed in, press the green log in button and it will go to Facebook then come back to the game and you should see this (check that it is the right account):

NOTE: my Facebook account has been suspended so I am unable to add anymore players, sorry!

Facebook Adding

Once connected, when you add a friend on Facebook, if they play The Sims Freeplay and have connected their game they will be added to your party boat automatically.

Apple: Game Center Adding

NOTE: as of iOS 10 the Game Center app has been removed you can still add neighbours but they have made it a lot harder to do, you now have to iMessage the person you want to add or you can also allow nearby people to add you from Settings > Game Center > Allow nearby people to add you through WiFi or Bluetooth. If you don’t have iOS 10 or above the steps below should still work but you may find players on iOS 10 or above are unable to accept your requests.

Game Center is an app on your Apple product, it should already be on your device.
Open it up and you will see 5 tabs at the bottom of the screen

Me, Friends, Games, Challenges and Turns

  • In the me tab you can set your username, this is what people use to add you, you can also change your photo here.
  • In the friends tab you will see all of your friends you already have and any friend requests you have
  • In the games tab you will see all the games you play and all of your achievements

To add a player you need to know their username or email address, once you do go to the friends tab and in the top right hand corner there is a +

This will open up a new window, in the ‘to’ box write the players username or email and in the big box below you can add a message to that person.

 Once they have accepted your request if they have the game they will appear in your party boat.

You can have 500 friends on Game Center but only 100 appear in your party boat.

Androids: Google Play Games Adding

Google+ has been removed so you can no longer add players this way on an Android (Facebook is your only option) but you can still save your game with Google Play Games

Deleting a Neighbour

To delete a neighbour you just need to delete them from Facebook and/or Game Center

Help! My neighbours can’t see an item in my town, why is that?

They can’t see it because they aren’t seeing the most up to date version of your game, you need to connect to the cloud for them to see this version of your game.

 Please note it can take a while for neighbours to appear in your party boat after adding so be patient!

  2. So from what I gather there is still a problem with the party boat? 😦
    I was wondering if it was a good idea to write an email to EA. They know about the problem, but it’s been what, a few months from what I gather? Do you think we should email them?

When I send friend requests they can’t except it and when I get friend requests I hAve no idea how to except it and we have tried to except it but it wouldn’t work and uuuuuuggggggghhhhhhh I just can’t and we can go on each other’s devices and look at it cause we live together but we still can’t figure it out how do I except the request!?!?

    • What are you sending friends requests from facebook or game center?
      If they are friends with you in that but aren’t showing in the game it is because there is a problem with the party boat not showing neighbours at the moment but hopefully that will be fixed in the next update.

  4. Hi! What if I want to change my facebook account but my game is saved with that specific account? How can I change it without losing my game? (Only because i’m adding neighbours and it’s a personal account. I know it’s just a game, but I want to keep it safe anyway because I had stalkers before and left me super paranoid. Sorry if it sounds silly) Thank you very much, your site has been most helpful!

    • You just need to log out of Facebook in the game and out of Facebook, then log into your new Facebook, connect the game back to Facebook and then you can save your game to that new account.

I have been using game center but I have a friend who didn’t have it and is using Facebook, so I added my Facebook so that we could be friends, well when I added my Facebook account it added like 10 random people from Facebook to my party boat, but not my friend I was trying to add! We have sent each other requests and accepted them but we are still not showing up on each other’s party boats! Are we doing something wrong? Please help! Thanks

  6. I just got the new update yesterday, the one with the castle right? Still not working. All of my other neighbors are there, and it added random Facebook neighbors, but I can’t get this one person to show up on the party boat

  10. I just added a new neighbour on game center, but everytime go on th game to the party boat my neighbour isnt there. Help?

    • I think you should contact EA about this issue, they know about the facebook party boat problem but I am not sure if they know about the game center one

  12. When I try to add friends from Facebook, the sims freeplay shows on the screen. I have to app already I have to go and download it again and when I try to do that it says that its not in my region when i already have the game. I can’t add any friends at all and im not using a apple product only an android. I need help :/

  14. Hi so I got the sims freeplay from Amazon cause I’m on my kindle fire……well I logged into my Facebook and it shows I have no neighbor’s but I added a bunch of people with it……..is it just my device or what do you know?

  16. There is still a problem in the latest update. Wanted to add my sister so I could continue the social tasks and she would help me and I could help her but looks like thats not happening. :@

  18. Hi, sadly when I try to add a facebook friend in the boat nothing change. My friends receive just a request to play at TheSims freeplay, not a request to become my neighbours. Can you give me an advice for avoid this problem? Thanks

I am on a Windows phone… Can’t find anything for adding people or toggles for Facebook settings anywhere on the game app. Logged onto my FB and clicked “Send to Mobile.” But nothing changed, no friends in my party boat and no way for me to bring it up on FB. Restarted my phone, still no change. I have no idea how to do this and no blog or FAQ I’ve found has any info for Windows phones. But I can’t complete the “practice making films in a neighbor’s town” without any friends.. I’m probably just up a creek without a paddle…

    • I don’t think you can connect to facebook using a windows phone, you have to use other players gamer tags to add neighbours, not sure where you add or find your gamer tag though as I don’t own a windows phone- sorry!
