Once you have built the Sorcerous Supplies store this discovery quest will begin. If you complete this quest in the time limit you will unlock the pet dragon! You can still complete this quest once the time limit is up to unlock the spell casting hobby but you won’t get the dragon prize
You cannot complete this quest at the same time as any other discovery quest
The price for building the sorcerous supplies store will vary depending on how many businesses you have already built
HOW LONG DOES THIS QUEST TAKE TO COMPLETE?
Times may vary depending on the star rating an item has
- Buy a crystal ball (S5,000) from Sorcerous supplies
- Place a crystal ball in a house (you will find it in the decorations section of your inventory once you have brought it)
- Look into the crystal ball- 30 seconds
- Gaze into the crystal ball- 30 seconds
- Pick up the magic wand- 2 seconds
- Unlock the door to the wand room: Randomly Rearrange- 2 hours 30 minutes
- Pick up the magic wand- 30 seconds (magic wand podium- pictured below)
- Use a crystal ball to go home- 1 second
- Act casual on a couch- 10 hours
- Place the magic wand podium in your house (from hobbies section of inventory, pictured below)
- Cast random spells- 13 hours 30 minutes (using magic wand podium)
- Talk to a sim about magic wands- 8 minutes (click on another sim)
- Use the magic wand (cast random spell on magic wand podium)- 13 hours 30 minutes
- Watch emergency broadcast- 2 hours 30 minutes
- Visit the park
- Call a sim to the park
- Formulate a plan- 6 hours 10 minutes (click on a mummy)
- Search for a mummy removal spell on the Internet- 13 hours 30 minutes
- Perform anti-mummies spell on a magic wand (podium)- 7 minutes
- Use the crystal ball to visit the wizards house- 1 second
- Read weird world of wands at wizards house- 22 hours 30 minutes
- Explain to the wizard- 8 hours 12 minutes
- Use the crystal ball to go back home- 1 second
- Call a sim to the park
- Talk to the wizard- 1 minute 40 seconds

You can now complete the Spell Casting Hobby (you need to buy a magic wand podium like the one in this quest from the sorcerous supplies store, you do not get to keep the one in the quest) The time limit for the hobby begins as soon as you complete this quest

Where do I find them? In the Pet store (if you haven’t built the pet store yet you can still get the dragons once it is built)

- There are two 1 star dragons- one costs 50,000, the other costs 25 SP
- There are two 2 star dragons- one costs 250,000, the other costs 25 LP
- There are two 3 star dragons- one costs 50 LP, the other costs 100 LP
Is the prize worth it? Yes it really is! It is unusual and cute, why wouldn’t you want one? Once you have brought a dragon it will appear at the house, near the mailbox as an egg:

Once it has hatched it will fly around the house, like dogs and cats it will find simoleons and LP:
A sim can interact with the dragon to increase the dragons happiness, they can praise or feed them:

It will be in the hobby and career items section of your inventory
Why do blue footprints appear when I try to use an item?
Blue footprints appear when your sim cannot access an item you want them to use, you need to either rotate the item or move an item that has been placed in front of it so they can use it.
How do I send my sim to the park?
Go to the park and click on the whistle next to a sim who isn’t busy on the simtracker, this post explains more about the simtracker
Everytime my sim gazes into the crystal ball it says ‘this place is too crowded’ why?
If you already have a sim at the wizards cottage you will get this message, use the simtracker to go to the sim who is already there instead of using the crystal ball
Can I do all the distract a mummy tasks at the same time?
No you can’t, you can only do them one at a time

I followed this walkthrough and set alarms! Did everything right and still didnt get my dragon! 😥 im so upset! Did anyone else have this problem? The last mission i did was the last one in the walkthrough and within the time limit! Please help!

I’m currently on the open the wand door part. I tried one sorting option, but it didn’t open, so I’ve got someone yelling at the door now. I found what I think were the main clues, but they didn’t make sense gien the options. 😦
I thought the clues were easy to understand, but you may not have found them all but yelling at the door will work it just takes longer
The items on sale at the sorcerous supplies shop are a bit rubbish so far. Hopefully they’ll do something more interesting when you complete the quest!

While my concern may not be a problem, I’d like to ask if the cloud copy of my game is saved real time. The new update is taking forever to update and I don’t want to miss out the Quest for toddlers gift which I am so close to get (had to stop playing because of the Book of Spells update), so I’m thinking of DL Sims Freeplay in another device and just load my previous saved game.
If otherwise, any advice on how to make the update faster? Connecting via DSL does not seem to help me at all and I’m stuck at 20%. 😦
Lastly, is there a reason why some items (e.g. neotokyo cabinet, orange table lamp) do not appear in the stores even if you’ve unlocked them? Is this related to the quests? I’m already on Level 21.

Yes it is, if you are struggling to download the game on that device I would try on another one, alot of people are having trouble downloading this update, the only suggestion is to uninstall and reinstall if you are sure you saved to the cloud so you don’t lose your game.
With the latest update when items unlock has changed so a lot of the things that you could previously use are now locked but as you haven’t got onto the new update yet are you sure you have unlocked them? or did you just buy a house with those items in it?
I always use your site as insight on how to beat sims at its own game. I’ve won every prize since I started visiting your blogs.

The part that says use the magic wand, after you’ve cast random spells and talked to another sim, how do you use the magic wand? I clicked on magic wand podium and it only gives me the option to cast random spells.

What’s the difference between cast from speeds for 13.5 hr and use magic wand for 13.5 hr? I went to the spell podium but it says still says cast random spells.
Cast random spells is the right option.
Usually sort these things out for myself but not sure what to do. When we were originally transported to the wizard’s house, the dog came with us, solved clues no problem, got wand but can’t work out how to transport the dog home again, he’s stuck there. Is this supposed to happen?
strange, have you tried clicking on the dog and selecting relocate? This should at least get the dog back to your town then you can move it back to the house you want it
Aargh, no, good idea. Unfortunately just before I read this, I completed the quest & can no longer visit the wizards house. Poor lost puppy! Irritating!

Possible glitch. I got to the point where I was to talk to another sim about magic. My sim wasn’t near any others, so taking him to others the option disappeared (It may have to do with also moving the wand podium to another house). I did the cast random spell again and it skipped right to watch emergency broadcast once the random spell task was done. Only really saved me the 8 minutes of talking to a sim, but I was glad I didn’t lose another 13.5 hrs.

It is possible but I used some Lps to speed up a few tasks just to fit my schedule

Hi, I am from Australia, and your blog is a great help to enjoy the game! I finished the new quest, and when it asked me whether I wanted to start the new casting hobby, I clicked later. Today I started the hobby, but the time still remains as 7 days. Was I supposed to click something to start the time? Thank you!

I know! Its a shame they have done this, they should have warned before the update about the memory issue so at least the game could still be played! Hopefully in the next update they will sort this issue out!
