Once you have built the Sorcerous Supplies store this discovery quest will begin. If you complete this quest in the time limit you will unlock the pet dragon! You can still complete this quest once the time limit is up to unlock the spell casting hobby but you won’t get the dragon prize
You cannot complete this quest at the same time as any other discovery quest
The price for building the sorcerous supplies store will vary depending on how many businesses you have already built
HOW LONG DOES THIS QUEST TAKE TO COMPLETE?
Times may vary depending on the star rating an item has
- Buy a crystal ball (S5,000) from Sorcerous supplies
- Place a crystal ball in a house (you will find it in the decorations section of your inventory once you have brought it)
- Look into the crystal ball- 30 seconds
- Gaze into the crystal ball- 30 seconds
- Pick up the magic wand- 2 seconds
- Unlock the door to the wand room: Randomly Rearrange- 2 hours 30 minutes
- Pick up the magic wand- 30 seconds (magic wand podium- pictured below)
- Use a crystal ball to go home- 1 second
- Act casual on a couch- 10 hours
- Place the magic wand podium in your house (from hobbies section of inventory, pictured below)
- Cast random spells- 13 hours 30 minutes (using magic wand podium)
- Talk to a sim about magic wands- 8 minutes (click on another sim)
- Use the magic wand (cast random spell on magic wand podium)- 13 hours 30 minutes
- Watch emergency broadcast- 2 hours 30 minutes
- Visit the park
- Call a sim to the park
- Formulate a plan- 6 hours 10 minutes (click on a mummy)
- Search for a mummy removal spell on the Internet- 13 hours 30 minutes
- Perform anti-mummies spell on a magic wand (podium)- 7 minutes
- Use the crystal ball to visit the wizards house- 1 second
- Read weird world of wands at wizards house- 22 hours 30 minutes
- Explain to the wizard- 8 hours 12 minutes
- Use the crystal ball to go back home- 1 second
- Call a sim to the park
- Talk to the wizard- 1 minute 40 seconds
- Distract a mummy- 16 hours 30 minutes
- Talk to wizard about magic spells- 3 minutes
- Distract a mummy- 16 hours 30 minutes
- Joke around with the wizard- 10 seconds
- Distract a mummy- 16 hours 30 minutes
- Pack up the magic wand podium- 30 seconds
- Talk to the wizard- 3 hours 10 minutes (he should appear at the house you are at)
QUEST IS COMPLETE!
You can now complete the Spell Casting Hobby (you need to buy a magic wand podium like the one in this quest from the sorcerous supplies store, you do not get to keep the one in the quest) The time limit for the hobby begins as soon as you complete this quest

Where do I find them? In the Pet store (if you haven’t built the pet store yet you can still get the dragons once it is built)
Cost?
- There are two 1 star dragons- one costs 50,000, the other costs 25 SP
- There are two 2 star dragons- one costs 250,000, the other costs 25 LP
- There are two 3 star dragons- one costs 50 LP, the other costs 100 LP
Is the prize worth it? Yes it really is! It is unusual and cute, why wouldn’t you want one? Once you have brought a dragon it will appear at the house, near the mailbox as an egg: 
You can move it into the house, the dragon takes a day to hatch: 
Once it has hatched it will fly around the house, like dogs and cats it will find simoleons and LP:
A sim can interact with the dragon to increase the dragons happiness, they can praise or feed them:

If you don’t start building the sorcerous supplies store you don’t have to do this quest at all but if you have already started building or started this quest you need to complete it before you can move on to the next quest
I haven’t started this quest yet, will it still be available when I want to do it?
Yes it will be, you can choose to start it whenever you like
How do I unlock the door to the wand room?
Select randomly rearrange
How do I place the magic wand podium, I can’t find it!
It will be in the hobby and career items section of your inventory
Why do blue footprints appear when I try to use an item?
Blue footprints appear when your sim cannot access an item you want them to use, you need to either rotate the item or move an item that has been placed in front of it so they can use it.
How do I send my sim to the park?
Go to the park and click on the whistle next to a sim who isn’t busy on the simtracker, this post explains more about the simtracker
Everytime my sim gazes into the crystal ball it says ‘this place is too crowded’ why?
If you already have a sim at the wizards cottage you will get this message, use the simtracker to go to the sim who is already there instead of using the crystal ball
Can I do all the distract a mummy tasks at the same time?
No you can’t, you can only do them one at a time
How do I pack up the magic wand podium?
Click on it to pack up
The magic wand podium has disappeared once I’ve picked it up! How do I complete the hobby?
You will need to buy a magic wand podium from the sorcerous supplies store to complete the hobby
What do I get if I complete this quest in the time limit?

Yes, the time limit for the hobby starts straight away once this quest is complete, you can click no when the hobby pop up appears but this does not stop the timer going down

This quest is impossible to complete in time, unless you don’t sleep, or if you spend a lot of LP’s. But that’s by design. EA wants you to spend real $$ to buy LP’s to finish all these quests. It’s business. Evil preying on kids, but business.
You can do it, although I don’t think my sims have ever slept.
Currently I have 19 hours left and I am on last three quests. I figured roughly about 11 hours of quest time (I came here to look at the times of others to see if I was going to need to use lp) I haven’t used any yet and don’t think I am going to have to. I just wanted to share. I think if you access it once each part is done you do have adequate time. It is just really tight with not much wiggle room
What If you don’t have the pet shop for after you complete the quest???

Hi i asked a question before, but it didnt get answered, maybe it was overlooked but i kinda figured out the answer through the other posts here, im jist wondering, im currently lvl 8 and is near finishing the quest for the dragons in the time limit, but i dont have the pet shop yet. What i was wondering is, when i build the pet shop, would the dragons be there?

Dragons aren’t free they cost:
There are 2 1 star dragons- one costs 50,000, the other costs 25SPs

You don’t find an egg, you have to buy a dragon from the pet store, if you don’t have the pet store you have to build it before you can access the dragons.

No it’s correct, it costs social points (SP) not life points (LPS)
I know its not free its not showing up in the pet store ive spoken to ea on the phone and firemonkeys forum and no one will help me i know i completed the quest cause the notification popped up after the last mission any suggestions? There is no dragon tab in the pet store.

Hiiiii!!! I just started this quest and I was instructed to pick up the wand for the first time AFTER finally opening and getting through the door. I selected pick up wand and the podium disappeared but it didn’t say it was added to my inventory and it’s still telling me to pick up wand. Please help 😦

Hi, I completed the quest. Unfortunately not in time to get the dragons though. The wizard has given me the podium (can’t find it anywhere). The wizard is now gone but I am stuck in the wizard house and can’t use the ball to get back. It just won’t give me the option. Did I miss something?

There is no tab for dragons in your pet store? You may need to contact EA then to see if they can help you

It is at the wizards house, then you pick it up and it goes into the hobby section of your inventory then you place it from there into one of your houses

No you have to complete in time to get the dragon.
I finished that quest and was asked if wanted to do another quest, i said no twicecause i was busy finishing other quest. How do u get it toask again?
It’s not a quest, it’s a hobby that you have to complete in the time limit, buy the wand podium from the Sorcerous supplies, place it in a house and select an option, that will start it.
I feel like complete moron the wizard is at the park, smh, missed the deadline no dragon pet for me. 😦 thanks for the help and the forum. Its great.

Ok so I completed the quest and I guess I didn’t do it in time to get the dragon, but the wizard gave me a podium and a magic wand, but I can’t find them anywhere. Have you completed the spell casting hobby? If not you have to complete that for the first time to unlock the broomstick flying hobby, if you have done that you can buy a magic broomstick closet from the Sorcerous supplies store and place it in one of your houses to do the hobby
Hello!! I won’t be able to finish this quest in time because of the later three 16 hour parts but I am still wondering what the pet dragons do AFTER they grow up. Do they act like dogs and cats and find LP and money or can you do new and special actions with them. Thank you for your time!!

Can I do the 2nd and 3rd Distract a Mummy ahead of time?? But not altogether at the same time. I’m planning to give a difference of 2 hrs in every task in order to have an ample time of doing the tasks in between and extra time in case I forget to check my game at the exact time a certain task is finished.. 🙂

Do you have to be on the game to finish the quest, so can I set it to do the talk to the wizard with 4 hours till the time limit ends and come back on in 5 hours time will it only then count as finished or when they finished the task? And thank you your blogs are really helpful

Sorry I don’t know of any! If you have done the bread winner quest though you can do the cooking hobby with lots of sims and in a very short time you get 5LPs for completing!

Hi. I know this page is about the specific quest but I wasn’t sure where else to ask it. I finished this quest in time and was granted a dragon. I purchased one from the pet store and waited for it to incubate and hatch at my sims house. Everything went according to plan. My dragon has found me lots of simoleons in my house and yard. But not my dragons happiness bar is way down and I can’t figure out how to inspire or praise the dragon like other pets or sims. There are no items in the pet store for dragons. So what do I need to do? What am I suppose to be doing? Why is my dragon unhappy? Can you please help me? Thank you so much for all that you do! If you click on the dragon when he isn’t busy digging you should be able to feed him, that will make his happiness increase, hope that helps!

its not the broomstick hobby for the owl, its the spell casting hobby to get the owl, you need to buy a wand podium from the sorcerous supplies store

A tip for some people, you can start “Read weird world of wands at wizards house- 22 hours 30 minutes” at the same time as “Search for a mummy removal spell on the Internet- 13 hours 30 minutes” as long as you finish the reading task NO SOONER than the “Use the crystal ball to visit the wizard’s house”.
Only one person can be in the wizard’s house at a time. But! While you have one sim reading at the wizard’s house, go back to sim town and have a second sim attempt to enter the wizard’s house with the crystal ball. They won’t be able to go to the Wizards house, & a message will pop up telling you so, however the game still counted it as the task completed. Hope this helps and works for someone else 🙂
I completed the quest but never got my dragon egg. Any reason this may be? I worked hard to get it. And also anytime we can access the hobbie quest? I decided to do it later but not for sure how to access it again.
You don’t get a dragon egg, you need to buy a dragon from the pet store to get the egg.
You need to buy a magic wand podium to start it, but just a warning the timer starts when you finish the quest so if you choose not to start it straight away it will be harder to complete in time
