Once you have built the Sorcerous Supplies store this discovery quest will begin. If you complete this quest in the time limit you will unlock the pet dragon! You can still complete this quest once the time limit is up to unlock the spell casting hobby but you won’t get the dragon prize
You cannot complete this quest at the same time as any other discovery quest
The price for building the sorcerous supplies store will vary depending on how many businesses you have already built
HOW LONG DOES THIS QUEST TAKE TO COMPLETE?
Times may vary depending on the star rating an item has
- Buy a crystal ball (S5,000) from Sorcerous supplies
- Place a crystal ball in a house (you will find it in the decorations section of your inventory once you have brought it)
- Look into the crystal ball- 30 seconds
- Gaze into the crystal ball- 30 seconds
- Pick up the magic wand- 2 seconds
- Unlock the door to the wand room: Randomly Rearrange- 2 hours 30 minutes
- Pick up the magic wand- 30 seconds (magic wand podium- pictured below)
- Use a crystal ball to go home- 1 second
- Act casual on a couch- 10 hours
- Place the magic wand podium in your house (from hobbies section of inventory, pictured below)
- Cast random spells- 13 hours 30 minutes (using magic wand podium)
- Talk to a sim about magic wands- 8 minutes (click on another sim)
- Use the magic wand (cast random spell on magic wand podium)- 13 hours 30 minutes
- Watch emergency broadcast- 2 hours 30 minutes
- Visit the park
- Call a sim to the park
- Formulate a plan- 6 hours 10 minutes (click on a mummy)
- Search for a mummy removal spell on the Internet- 13 hours 30 minutes
- Perform anti-mummies spell on a magic wand (podium)- 7 minutes
- Use the crystal ball to visit the wizards house- 1 second
- Read weird world of wands at wizards house- 22 hours 30 minutes
- Explain to the wizard- 8 hours 12 minutes
- Use the crystal ball to go back home- 1 second
- Call a sim to the park
- Talk to the wizard- 1 minute 40 seconds
- Distract a mummy- 16 hours 30 minutes
- Talk to wizard about magic spells- 3 minutes
- Distract a mummy- 16 hours 30 minutes
- Joke around with the wizard- 10 seconds
- Distract a mummy- 16 hours 30 minutes
- Pack up the magic wand podium- 30 seconds
- Talk to the wizard- 3 hours 10 minutes (he should appear at the house you are at)
QUEST IS COMPLETE!
You can now complete the Spell Casting Hobby (you need to buy a magic wand podium like the one in this quest from the sorcerous supplies store, you do not get to keep the one in the quest) The time limit for the hobby begins as soon as you complete this quest
Prize: Dragons
Where do I find them? In the Pet store (if you haven’t built the pet store yet you can still get the dragons once it is built)
Cost?
- There are two 1 star dragons- one costs 50,000, the other costs 25 SP
- There are two 2 star dragons- one costs 250,000, the other costs 25 LP
- There are two 3 star dragons- one costs 50 LP, the other costs 100 LP
Is the prize worth it? Yes it really is! It is unusual and cute, why wouldn’t you want one? Once you have brought a dragon it will appear at the house, near the mailbox as an egg: 
You can move it into the house, the dragon takes a day to hatch: 
Once it has hatched it will fly around the house, like dogs and cats it will find simoleons and LP:
A sim can interact with the dragon to increase the dragons happiness, they can praise or feed them:

If you don’t start building the sorcerous supplies store you don’t have to do this quest at all but if you have already started building or started this quest you need to complete it before you can move on to the next quest
I haven’t started this quest yet, will it still be available when I want to do it?
Yes it will be, you can choose to start it whenever you like
How do I unlock the door to the wand room?
Select randomly rearrange
How do I place the magic wand podium, I can’t find it!
It will be in the hobby and career items section of your inventory
Why do blue footprints appear when I try to use an item?
Blue footprints appear when your sim cannot access an item you want them to use, you need to either rotate the item or move an item that has been placed in front of it so they can use it.
How do I send my sim to the park?
Go to the park and click on the whistle next to a sim who isn’t busy on the simtracker, this post explains more about the simtracker
Everytime my sim gazes into the crystal ball it says ‘this place is too crowded’ why?
If you already have a sim at the wizards cottage you will get this message, use the simtracker to go to the sim who is already there instead of using the crystal ball
Can I do all the distract a mummy tasks at the same time?
No you can’t, you can only do them one at a time
How do I pack up the magic wand podium?
Click on it to pack up
The magic wand podium has disappeared once I’ve picked it up! How do I complete the hobby?
You will need to buy a magic wand podium from the sorcerous supplies store to complete the hobby
What do I get if I complete this quest in the time limit?

Yes they will

Yes, the time limit for the hobby starts straight away once this quest is complete, you can click no when the hobby pop up appears but this does not stop the timer going down

Uhh the new 2015 update in order to build the mall I need to finish the book of spells quest …so I’m on the wand one..so anyways it was in one of my houses and I demolished it now I can’t find the wand in my inventory pls help!😩😨😰😣

I did the same thing, deleted my house which had podium and there is no hobby section in my inventory, now I can’t do mall quest and am stuck. I don’t want to reset. Help!
when you delete a house all the items in that house go into your inventory so it should be there

I don’t know about that but you can wait for it to hatch then click on it and select relocate to move it to a different house.

I have 3 days left to complete this quest, and I started distracting the first mummy today. It went well, I calculated that I can finish the quest in time. Half of the distraction passed so I thought I’d check on my sim in the park but when I went there, the distraction task just deleted itself, so I had to start it all over again. I’m really annoyed because I never experienced something like this before in the game, and I’m damn sure I didn’t delete the action, it the contdown worked well, and now I think I won’t finish in time to get the dragons
Anyone else had the same bug maybe? I don’t know what happened, I hope not visiting the park until the distraction finally ends will fix this problem.
yes lots of people have had this problem, stay away from the park until the task is done
I stayed away from the park but it was no use indeed because when the sim tracker showed that the action was finished, I went there, but it was like I did nothing, like the game didn’t acknowledge I did the task, and there were all 3 mummies there and an exclamation mark popped up on one mummy like at the very first time, and I had to start over again. Had to use LPs to finish the mummies, still struggling with the last one, but I don’t care, I just want the dragons. 😀

I can not locate my podium Im up to the “preform anti mummies spell on a magic wand” task but I can not find my podium it’s not in any of my houses and it not in my iventory please help been stuck here for weeks
a previous goal was to place it in a house, which house did you put it in? It will probably still be there.
I had the same problem. The house I put it in was demolished, what do I do? it’s not in my inventory.
it should be in your inventory, when you demolish a house everything in it goes into your inventory

it won’t work if you finish reading it before you get the task, you need to make sure your sim is still reading when you get the task or you will have to do it all over again.

maybe, maybe not, it is impossible to know, but the higher star rating the dragon the more LPs it is likely to find

So in order to build the sorcerors supplies store it says you have to complete the a dance to remember quest… Which I did (and now I’m on to the mysterious island quest). But when I click to try to build the store it’s still unchecked next to complete dance to remember quest. But I definitely completed it. Any idea why it’s not checked off/I can’t build the store?

I wish I’d found your site sooner!! I have 3 days left on the Book of Spells quest but I just started reading the Weird World of Wands. I would have started it sooner like you said and had a chance of getting the Dragons unlocked 😦 so now I’m definitely not going to make the end goal with an 8+ hr and 3x 16+hr quests still to go. This is a great site!! I’ll be coming here before quests now instead of after when it’s too late!! 😀

So do u automatically get the pet dragon when u complete the quest cuz I got it in time but yeah none showed up I’m having the pet store available to me in the morning (took me a while to get money to unlock it) but will it be there? Will I have to pay for it or will it be free?

I am about to complete Book of Spells. I thought Ocean View came next which is what it says at the top under quests to complete. Is that right or should it be a Dance to Remember? Sorry, a bit confused here. Very new to this game. Thanks.
book of spells and dance to remember are both discovery quests so you can do them at any point in the game, ocean view is a main quest, main quests have to be done in order, discovery quests don’t have to be done at all

You can’t restart a quest but you can restart the game, go into settings and click reset but you will lose all your progress.
Darn! I had begun the Weird World of Wands reading too early! By the time I needed to travel back to the wizard’s home my Sim had already finished. I then got the prompt to read it, and now I have to do it again. What a waste of a day!

I’ve been dealing with a weird glitch that might have costed me the dragon prize..
It’s on the search for a mummy removal spell on the internet” goal . I’ve tried 3 times , wtf.
I start the action , save the game on the cloud and exit carefully to do what I have to do while my sim does his thing ,when I come back to check how much time is left the sim is not doing the action and is just roaming around. Same happened with my other sims , I had them all plant tomatoes and when I checked back the plants were half grown and ”frozen” and the sims were not doing their planting, they were just wandering .
How do I contact EA? and what is their contact email for these kind of glitches?

I have completed it and did complete it in time. I have unlocked the dragon and have one, I have the broomstick and went to the end. It’s still telling me I need to get the wand still. I own two already, when I go back to the Wizards house it’s not there and won’t allow me into the room. This is frustrating me because I can’t move forward to unlock the castle any advice???
If you completed the quest are you not on the hobby now? To complete that you need to place the wand in one of your houses and get a sim to use it
