The Sims Freeplay- Guide to Preteens

This is just a quick post to tell you about preteens.
image

How do I create a preteen?
To be able to age a toddler into a preteen you need to have completed the preparing for preteens quest
You will then be able to bake a birthday cake on a stove which takes a day and costs 5LPs. Once the birthday cake is made click on it and then you can click on your toddler and select the option to have birthday, they will then age into a preteen. This post explains in more detail birthday cake ageing

If you have completed the life dreams and legacies quest then you no longer need to bake birthday cakes, they will age automatically.

What is next?
They will probably look strange so take them to a wardrobe to change their hair and clothes.

How do I look after them?

Needs– preteens can look after themselves without an adult to help using the items below to increase their needs:
Hunger- fridge
Bladder- toilet
Energy- bed, chair, coffee machine
Hygiene- bath, shower
Social- talking to another sim, phone
Fun- lots of things including tv, computer and trampoline!

image

If you click on the preteen you will see the option to have birthday, only use this when you want to age them.

What hobbies can a preteen do?

What school do preteens go to?
Simtown elementary- once built you need to enrol them the same way you give an adult a job, use the preteen study desk to increase a preteens grade faster.

Pros: Can look after themselves without help from adults, have lots of hobbies to choose from.

Cons: They don’t make a lot of money apart from going to school and finding new collectibles in hobbies.

It would be great if they could plant or bake to make money too!

Preteens can interact with toddlers, teens, adults and seniors, they cannot interact with babies. Read the Relationships post for more details.

I hope this helps!

Please note this quest list was correct at time of writing, it may change.

PLEASE NOTE: if this quest doesn’t appear for you that is because your game is no longer compatible, EA have stopped updating it with the latest quests.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT THIS QUEST

please read before asking

I have missed this quest! Why can’t I start it yet?
You cannot miss main quests they have to be completed in order. You need to complete all previous quests (list can be found here) and reach level 15 before you can start this quest

Can I complete this quest even though I am passed level 15?
Yes, you just need to complete all previous quests then this quest will start automatically

Why are there two versions of this quest?
Some quests have two versions, as when the makers have updated the times for quests they haven’t updated them on all devices so some players still get the old times

I can’t afford simtown elementary, how can I earn more simoleons?
This post may help

Can I build the elementary school early?
No, you cannot build the elementary school until you get the goal in this quest

I already have one of the items it wants me to buy in this quest, will I have to buy them again?
Yes you will do, but don’t buy them before you get the goal

Why do blue footprints appear when I try to use an item?
Blue footprints appear when your sim cannot access an item you want them to use, you need to either rotate the item or move an item that has been placed in front of it so they can use it

How do I make cheese on toast?
Select cooking on a stove, make sure you have a toaster at that house to use or you will not be able to make cheese on toast

What do you mean when you say a goal can be started early?
Any goal that you can normally do can be started early because you will have access to it and any goal that you can’t normally do you will have to wait until you get the goal to be able to complete it
The tip with this method is to put the sim doing that action early in a different house that you cannot go to until you get that goal or it will not work

I have played the sims on a computer but it doesn’t complete the goal, why?
Are you sure you are playing the sims, not sim city?

I don’t like this quest! Can I just skip it?
No, you have to complete this quest before you can move onto the next one

Some times are slightly different on my game, why is this?
Times may vary depending on the star rating of the item you are using, as the higher star rating an item has the quicker you will complete a goal

Some times are really off/ different goals show for me, why is this?

This will be because the quest has been updated recently, I try my best to keep these posts up to date but it is difficult as I cannot redo every quest each time the game is updated. If you notice any changes please let me know so I can update the post

Watch my step by step video of version 2 of this quest here:
