The Sims Freeplay- Birthday Cake Ageing

There are 3 ways of ageing a sim:

  1. Birthday Cake (which is what we are going to focus on in this post)
  2. Auto Ageing– once the life dreams and legacies quest has been completed
  3. Advancing age early– once the life dreams and legacies quest has been completed

Before the life dreams and legacies quest has been completed you will need to use birthday cakes if you want to age your sims but you can’t age every sim until a quest has been completed:

Once you have completed a quest for toddlers you will have unlocked the ability for your baby to become a toddler but you now need a birthday cake

A birthday cake can be found under the baking section on a stove, it is near the bottom of the list and will cost you 5LP and takes one day to bake:

Once your sim has made the cake click on the symbol above the stove showing the cake to store it, you can then use it straight away or save it for later.

Now you need to click on the sim you want to age and you will see the option to have birthday:

Click on this and a pop up will appear, it will ask you if you want to use the birthday cake to age that sim.

 If you do, click yes.

If you don’t, click no.

Once you click yes your sim will magically grow up to the next life stage.

And that is how you age a sim using a birthday cake!

Do you need a cake for each sim you age or just one cake?
You need a cake for each, once your sim has aged the cake will have been used.

How can I find out how many birthday cakes I have stored?
If you click ‘have birthday’ on a sim it will say how many cakes are available, just click no if you don’t want to use a cake to age that sim.

Once I complete the life dreams quest do I still need birthday cakes?
No you don’t, you can advance a sims age early for 2LP but if you wait for them to complete their life dream for that stage or wait until they are ready to age automatically you can advance them to the next life stage for free.

    • Of course, once you have completed the life dreams and legacies quest your sims can age automatically once their timer for that life stage is up and you can also age them early after this quest once their life dream for that stage is complete 🙂

  4. Can you use a birthday cake you purchased from the grocery store? I noticed when I had purchased some rocky road for a quest, it did not count, I had to bake it. I am curious if it’s the same for the birthday cake.

    • Yes, Maybe you should read this post on how the supermarket works: thegirlwhogames.wordpress.com/2014/09/01/the-sims-freeplay-supermarket/ as you still have to bake the rocky road you just get it cheaper than if you brought it from the oven 🙂

  8. If your already past the life and legacy dream and your sim appears with a birthday cake sign above your sim does that give you one birthday cake or what I’m not sure what this means but I have done it with quite a few sims.

  18. I had no birthday cakes made, but when I started playing today I noticed that my infant had a birthday cake above it. When I go to my simtracker, it says ‘ready to age’ under his name. I’m about 76% done with the Life Dreams & Legacies quest.

  19. A quest for Toddlers has been sitting in my Quest Waiting Que. I’m at level 14 now. I also noticed it looks as though the birthday cake should be available but it’s grayed out with no level requirement on it. What am I missing to be able to do this quest that’s just been sitting in the que?

    • YOu need to complete the quest you are on first, quests need to be completed in order, if it is 2nd in your queue then you can do it in two quests time.
      And the birthday cake won’t unlock until you do that quest.

  22. Wait what does it mean by “age automatically” does it mean there’s a time limit for each age your sim has? If so, how long?Or is it like the birthday cakes were you choose when your sims age?

  23. i baked cake yesterday but i don’t know what happened. i checked today and there’s no circle thing on the stove. im pretty sure i baked it yesterday cus i lost 5 LP already :<

  31. I had 2 sims making birthday cakes and they where almost done then it just went away the sims was ready for work and I had no cakes when I should have 2 cakes I paid 5 lp for each cake and I got ripped off

  32. Hi.. i was baking once just for fun and when i ended it and clicked on the bubble to finish my pancakes they disappeared and im worried i spent 5LP on brithday cake and I won’t have it anyway please help me

    • they do just disappear, but you get money and XPs from them but birthday cakes are stored so ready for when you want to use them but you don’t get money for baking one.

  33. Hi! I really love your blog it’s extremely helpful!!:) and I’m just wondering CAN you actually get twins on the sims freeplay? Oh!! How ’bout triplets??!! Or quadruplets?! Nah probably not:(

      You can’t really have twins but you can buy two cribs and make two babies, but you can’t have more than two babies per household as you can only have 4 sims living in a house at one time.

  34. Hi, yes I’m almost done with the quest for toddlers do I have to use a cake to turn her into a toddler because I don’t have 5 LP points.
