VACATIONERS GUIDE TO THE OUTDOORS QUEST – SURVIVALIST GEAR – TEEN, ADULT AND SENIOR SIMS – PRIZES: SUSPENSION BRIDGE, LOOKOUT POST, BIRD FEEDERS AND 3LP

TIME LIMITED HOBBY – TIME: 7 DAYS – TIME LIMITED PRIZE: PICNIC BASKET

Once you complete the Vacationers Guide to the Outdoors Quest and clear the area (check out my guide to the campgrounds post for more information) the 7 day time limit will then start straight away, your teen, adult or senior sim needs to complete this hobby in the time limit to unlock the picnic basket at the campground:

Your teen, adult or senior sim needs to click on the survivalist gear at the campgrounds and select:

Explore- 2 hours 30 minutes

TIP: only one sim can complete this hobby at a time, you can send another sim to a neighbours town to complete this hobby (if they have unlocked the campgrounds!)

After the time has passed come back and click the exclamation mark above your sims head to find one of the survivalist collectibles. Every time your sims explore their survivalist hobby skill level up percentage will increase, once you reach 100% you will level up, there are 6 levels. You need to reach level 6 to be able to unlock all of the survivalist collectibles, once unlocked you will be able to find them.

The table below shows the level up percentage:

For example you would need to explore 17 times to reach level 6 from level 5

The next table shows you for each level what survivalist collectibles you unlock (so you can then find those ones too) and also the level up reward that a second and future sims will receive when they level up in this hobby:

NOTE: only the first sim completing this hobby needs to get to level 6 to unlock all the collectibles, future sims will be able to find any collectible even if they are only on level 1 in this hobby

You won’t find a new collectible each time, you will get repeats, if this happens just keep going, you will find them eventually! If it is still taking too long you can use the lucky spin on the row where you cannot find the item, this will cost LPs, when you click on the LP button it will clear the row and give you a random collectible on that row so you aren’t guaranteed a new item (you will get back any other collectibles you already had in that row) Need to earn some LPs to use the lucky spin?

The completed survivalist collection is shown below, once you complete the collection you need to click ‘start a new collection’ at the top of the hobby collection screen, this clears the board so you can complete the collection again to earn more rewards (you will only get the option to restart the hobby collection when you have completed the collection):

The first time you will earn XPs when you complete a row in the hobby but to complete the collection you need to find all 12 of the collectibles

If you complete this hobby in the time limit you will unlock the picnic basket, this can be found at the picnic area at the campgrounds, the option is have a picnic- 10 minutes and two sims can do this at one time

The rewards for completing this collection are the suspension bridge, lookout post and bird feeders and 3LP:

The first time you complete the collection you unlock the suspension bridge, lookout post and bird feeders (even if you do not manage to complete the hobby in the time limit)

Build the suspension bridge to unlock the next area of the campground to clean up and then you can start the Storyteller Hobby!

Once you have completed the Vacationers Guide to the Outdoors Quest you can then open up the picnic area:

Firstly the area needs cleaning:

Gas Bottle- 10 hours 30 minutes x2 = 21 hours
Trash- 8 hours 30 minutes x2 = 17 hours
Garbage Can- 6 hours 30 minutes
Trash- 4 hours 30 minutes x3 = 13 hours 30 minutes
Jerry Can- 4 hours 30 minutes x3 = 13 hours 30 minutes
Broken Lantern- 3 hours 30 minutes
Trash- 1 hour 30 minutes x3 = 4 hours 30 minutes
Trash- 45 minutes x6 = 4 hours 30 minutes
Trash- 15 minutes x2= 30 minutes

Total: 3 days 12 hours 30 minutes

NOTE: use as many sims as possible (max 10) to clean up quicker!

Once you have cleaned the area you can start on the Survivalist Hobby

This is a time limited hobby, you have 7 days to complete the hobby for the first time to unlock picnic baskets
Once you have completed the hobby you unlock the suspension bridge, bird feeders and lookout post
Teens, Adults and Seniors can do this hobby but only one sim can complete it at once

TIP: you can send another sim to a neighbours to complete quicker with two sims!

Click on the compass/ survival gear in the middle of the picnic area:
The only option is explore for 2 hours 30 minutes

TIP: when using LPs you can wait for half an hour to pass then you will only need to use 1LP to speed it up instead of 2!

Once you complete the survivalist hobby you unlock the suspension bridge, bird feeders and deer spring falls lookout (use the lookout to complete the goal to test the depths)

Build the suspension bridge to access the rest of the campground and storyteller hobby.

Once you have access that area it needs cleaning:

Garbage Can- 6 hours 30 minutes x2 =13 hours
Trash- 8 hours 30 minutes x5 =42 hours 30 minutes
Trash- 15 minutes
Trash- 45 minutes x3 =2 hours 15 minutes
Trash- 4 hours 30 minutes x5 =22 hours 30 minutes
Jerry Can- 4 hours 30 minutes x2 =9 hours
Gas Bottle- 10 hours 30 minutes x5 =52 hours 30 minutes
Broken Lantern- 3 hours 30 minutes x3 =10 hours 30 minutes
Oil Drum- 12 hours 30 minutes x3 =37 hours 30 minutes
Trash- 1 hour 30 minutes

NOTE: use as many sims as possible (max 10) to clean up quicker!

Once that area is clear you can start on the Storyteller Hobby

Again this is a time limited hobby, you have 7 days to complete the hobby for the first time to unlock the campfire
Once you have completed the hobby you unlock the tents, canoe and deer meadow
Teens, Adults and Seniors can do this hobby but only one sim can complete it at once

TIP: you can send another sim to a neighbours town to complete quicker with two sims!

Click on the storyteller chair next to the campfire:

There are 4 options, you need to complete one row at a time before you unlock the next option when you complete this quest for the first time

TIP: I wouldn’t use the lucky spin on this hobby, it will be cheaper to just speed up the action with LPs!

Once you complete the storyteller hobby you unlock tents, deer meadow and the canoe

At the entrance to the campgrounds there is an information board where you can:

Examine Map- 5 minutes
Read History- 1 hour 30 minutes
Plan Trip- 2 hours 30 minutes

Once you unlock the stables by completing The Need for Steed quest you can buy horses.

What can horses do?

Horses are mainly used for hobbies:

Horse Tricks– complete for first time to unlock 2 star horses
Vaulting– complete for first time to unlock 3 star horses
Showjumping– complete for first time to unlock the unicorn

Star ratings:

1 Star Horses- can only complete horse tricks hobby
2 Star Horses- can complete horse tricks and vaulting but not showjumping
3 Star Horses- can complete all 3 horse hobbies (horse tricks, vaulting and showjumping)

Happiness

But horses have to be in a good mood to partake in hobbies, if you click on a horse you can see a happiness bar, the lower it is, the sadder the horse will be.

How do you fill up the happiness bar?

Feed horse
Groom horse
Pet horse

Times vary depending on the star rating the horse has

You can also ride a horse!

Select ride horse then your sim will get on the horse, you then click on the ground and the ‘go there’ arrow will show up, that is where the horse will walk to:

When you are done you can click on the horse and select dismount:

Can I get my horses to stay in their stable?

No, the horses like to wander around, they won’t stay in their stable, you will have to ride them into the stable if you want them to go in there.

How do I add a new horse?

You need to build an empty stable (like building a house to add a new sim) you can have a maximum of 6 horses as you can build 6 stables.

I would like to rename my horse, how do I do this?

Click on the horse and rename is the second option.

How do I delete a horse?

The same way you would delete a sim, click on it and on the right next to its name there is a red cross, click that to delete.

LEVEL UNLOCKS: 11 UNLOCKS: opens gate to campground TIME LIMIT: 7 days PRIZE: sleeping bags

To start this quest and unlock the campgrounds you need to build the campground which can be found behind the community center in sim town. If you complete this quest in the time limit you will unlock sleeping bags, you can still complete this quest once the time is up to open the campgrounds but you won’t get the sleeping bags

You cannot complete this quest at the same time as any other discovery quest

HOW LONG DOES THIS QUEST TAKE TO COMPLETE?

Times may vary depending on the star rating an item has

Call a sim to the campground
Introduce yourself to the ranger- 1 minute

Offer to help the ranger- 5 minutes
Clean up the garbage- 4 hours 30 minutes

Clean the garbage bin- 6 hours 30 minutes

Discuss clues with Clay (the ranger)- 5 minutes
Solve the rangers puzzle: (the answer is below so you don’t need to search for clues)

ANSWER: Plants- 5 hours 30 minutes

Investigate the footprints- 11 hours 30 minutes

Ask Clay about the footprints- 1 minute
Research wildlife book- 19 hours (bookcase)

Investigate the trash at home- 5 minutes

Go to the park
Examine footprints- 12 hours 30 minutes

Ask Clay for help- 5 minutes (he should appear at the park)
Watch world of wonders on TV- 19 hours

Go to the park
Solve the tracking puzzle:

ANSWER: BBQ- 4 hours 30 minutes

Search the BBQ- 4 minutes

Sleep through alarm (bed)- 10 hours 30 minutes (can be started early)
Discuss plan with Clay (at the campground)- 15 minutes
Set the bait:

ANSWER: Plants, Fruits and Nuts- 8 hours 30 minutes (on the X)

Pet the deer
Feed the deer- 15 hours 30 minutes
Pet the deer- 1 minute
Talk to Clay- 2 hours 30 minutes
Accept title- 30 seconds

QUEST IS COMPLETE!

Now the quest is complete you can unlock and open the picnic area and clean it to start the Survivalist Hobby, check out My Guide to the Campgrounds post for more information

Prize: Sleeping bags

Where can I find them? In the outdoor furniture section

Cost? S1,500, 12SP, 20SP and 5LP

Is it worth it? Yes! What sim wouldn’t want to sleep outside, Preteens to Seniors can use the sleeping bags. Not sure I will be spending 20SP on a rainbow sleeping bag though!

Once it has finished building the quest and time limit will begin

You cannot do more than one discovery quest at the same time, if you are currently on another one (the list can be found here) you will not be able to do this one until that one is completed

Can I do discovery quests at the same time as a main quest?
Yes you can

Do I have to do this quest?
If you don’t start building the campgrounds you don’t have to do this quest at all but if you have already started building or started this quest you need to complete it before you can move on to the next quest

I haven’t started this quest yet, will it still be available when I want to do it?
Yes it will be, you can choose to start it whenever you like

How do I send my sim to the campgrounds?
Go to the campgrounds and click on the whistle next to a sim who isn’t busy on the simtracker, this post explains more about the simtracker

What do you mean when you say a goal can be started early?
Any goal that you can normally do can be started early because you will have access to it and any goal that you can’t normally do you will have to wait until you get the goal to be able to complete it
The tip with this method is to put the sim doing that action early in a different house that you cannot go to until you get that goal or it will not work

What do you use to set the bait?
Plants, fruits and nuts

What do I get if I complete this quest in the time limit?
Sleeping bags

What happens if I don’t complete in the time limit, can I still finish this quest?
Yes you have to finish it to unlock the survivalist hobby and campgrounds before you can move onto the next quest

I didn’t complete in the time limit, can I restart the quest?
No, you cannot redo quests

Can I still get the prize if I don’t complete in the time limit?
No, the only way to get the limited time prizes is by completing the quest in the time limit

I don’t like this quest! Can I just skip it?
No, you have to complete this quest before you can move onto the next one now that you have started it, if you don’t start building the campgrounds you don’t have to do this quest but once it is built the quest will begin

Some times are slightly different on my game, why is this?
Times may vary depending on the star rating of the item you are using, as the higher star rating an item has the quicker you will complete a goal

Some times are really off/ different goals show for me, why is this?

The Sims Freeplay- Figure Skating Event

THIS EVENT IS NOW OVER

~~The figure skating event is now on for a limited time,~~ it started on the 5th June and will only be available for 9 days

You have to complete the collection just once in the time limit to unlock the ping pong table, basketball hoop and putting green

NOTE: You will not see this quest if you have no completed the an alien concept: weather machine quest yet

The only option for figure skating is 12 hours

Some tips for completing in time:

You don’t have to complete at the snow park but you need to build the snow park to unlock this event
You can use a swimming pool and a weather machine at a house set to snow, this then makes it possible to skate on the pool. This way you can also use as many sims as you can fit on the pool

- If you do have the snow park then 4 sims can skate on the dark circles on the hockey rink

You can also send another sim to a neighbours town if you have no more space to figure skate in your town
To complete the whole collection you need one sim to get to level 6 in the figure skating hobby, I have noticed they do level up fairly quickly but if you want them to level up even faster you may need to use some LPs as speeding up the action will still level them up, this post explains a good way to make LPs fast.

Are the prizes worth it? Yes! Complete the hobby just once to unlock the basketball hoop, ping pong table and putting greens

Cost? First one is free, after that they cost S5,000

Who? Only preteens can use this, the option is Practice Basketball for 1 minute 30 seconds

Ping Pong Table

Where? Living Room section

Cost? First one is free, after that they cost S7,500

Who? Preteen sims and over can play ping pong. 2 sims can play together, one select practice ping pong, and the other selects play ping pong for 10 minutes
