This quest unlocks the sim sign and teen idol hobby for your teenage sims to complete, most of this quest is completing the hobby. If you complete this quest in the 7 day time limit you will unlock premium 3 star instruments. You can still complete this quest once the time limit is up to unlock the hobby but you won’t get the premium instruments

- Buy a stack of magazines- these can be found in the living room section of buy mode (costs S600)
- Make a teenager read teen celebrity magazine- 4 minutes 33 seconds (click on the stack of magazines and choose the teen celebrity option- only a teen can read this!) [click blue skip button to complete instantly]
- Make a teenager watch funny cat videos- 1 hour 40 minutes (on the computer)
- Send a teenager to the park
- Create a plan to become famous- 6 hours 10 minutes [inspired: 5 hrs 52 mins] (using the blackboard in the park on the pier)
YOU HAVE NOW UNLOCKED KEYBOARDS:
- Buy a keyboard from the home store (in the hobby and career items section) (cheapest costs S650)
The next goals have you completing the Teen Idol Hobby, each time you use one of the instruments you unlock in this quest you will write a piece of music, once you find all pieces of music you will have completed the hobby collection.
- Write music (using the keyboard to find notes- cheapest keyboard takes 1 hour) [inspired: 57 mins]
- Write 3 pieces of music (you have to find a new note to be counted as a piece of music using the keyboard so you need to find 2 more new pieces of music, when you have found all 3 you will unlock the next instrument)
YOU HAVE NOW UNLOCKED BASS GUITARS:
You unlock different instruments with each line of notes you find, the higher star rating the instruments have, the faster your sim will write music
Once you’ve found all the keyboard notes you will unlock the bass guitar which you can buy from the hobby and career items section of buy mode (cheapest costs S650) (cheapest takes 2 hours [inspired: 1 hr 54 mins] to make music) then when you have found all the bass guitar notes you unlock the drum kit and so on..
- Write 6 pieces of music (you need to use the bass guitar to find the next 3 pieces)

You can buy a drum kit from the hobby and career items section of buy mode (cheapest costs S650)
- Write 9 pieces of music (you need to use the drum kit to find the next 3) (cheapest takes 3 hours [inspired: 2 hrs 51 mins] to make music)
YOU HAVE NOW UNLOCKED ELECTRIC GUITARS:
You can buy an electric guitar from the hobby and career items section of buy mode (cheapest costs S650)
- Write 12 pieces of music (you need to use the electric guitar to find the next 3) (cheapest takes 4 hours [inspired: 3 hrs 48 mins] to make music)

Once you complete this quest you unlock the Sim Sign
You will find the sim town sign near the premium residences by the estate agency- you need to upgrade it to get the chance to earn a bonus in revenue. When you upgrade it to level 3 you unlock the teen idol mansion- the first one is free! To upgrade the sim sign you need to collect the resources, to find these resources you can redo the collection and when you finish a line you get a resource or you can find them randomly when you do an action!

Time Limited Prize: Premium Instruments
Is the prize worth it? they are 3 star instruments so you can complete a collection quicker without buying the 3 star instruments that cost LP (but there is no difference between premium and 3 star instruments apart from the cost)

Cost? Keyboard (S6,000) Bass (S6,500) Drumkit (S6,000) Guitar (S6,200) and Microphone (S5,500)

You cannot miss main quests they have to be completed in order. You need to complete all previous quests (list can be found here) and reach level 20 before you can start this quest
Can I complete this quest even though I have passed level 20?
Yes, you just need to complete all previous quests then this quest will start automatically
I can’t place the magazines in my house, why?
You need to put them on a table or counter, you cannot place them on the floor
My sims won’t read the magazine, help!

Why do blue footprints appear when I try to use an item?
Blue footprints appear when your sim cannot access an item you want them to use, you need to either rotate the item or move an item that has been placed in front of it so they can use it
Help, all items are greyed out apart from the magazines! What should I do?
Buy the magazines again, this should allow you to access the rest of buy mode
Do I need a teen for this quest?
Yes, in this quest you complete the teen idol hobby for the first time so a teen is required to complete all the goals
Can I have more than one teen doing this at once?
No, only one teen can be the teen idol and complete this hobby at one time
I have done the task write 3 pieces of music but it will not complete, why?
You need to write 3 different pieces, you cannot just do the task 3 times
Why can’t I buy the microphone yet?
You need to find all 3 pieces of music on the keyboard, then all 3 on the bass guitar, then all 3 on the drum kit, then all 3 on the guitar and then you will be able to buy the microphone
I cannot find one of the pieces, what should I do?
Some take longer to get than others to find so just keep going, you will find them eventually!
What do I get if I complete this quest in the time limit?

What is the difference between the 3 star instruments and the premium instruments?
Apart from cost (3 star instruments cost LPs) there is no difference
What happens if I don’t complete in the time limit, can I still finish this quest?

You need to complete the teen idol hobby several times, each time you complete a row in the hobby you earn a resource to build the sign, this post explains this in more detail

I NEED HELP !!! MY SIMS TEEN WON’T PLAY THE BASS GUITAR. EVERYTIME I TRY SHE SAYS NO. I HAVE ALREADY COMPLETED THE KEYBOARD NOTES. I BOUGHT THE CHEAPEST GUITAR. I DON’T KNOW WHAT TO DO NEXT.
If she has footprints in the bubble above her head when she says no try moving the guitar or store it and place it again to see if that helps. If it is a red cross in the bubble then unless the sim you are trying to get to play the guitar isn’t a teen I don’t know what could be causing this!

I unlocked the drums but they aren’t in the teen section. Help!
Are you sure you have found all the bass guitar notes to unlock the drums? And it came up with the message saying drumkit unlocked? If so then they should there! They are towards the end of the teen section.
Im having the same problem! I unlocked the drumset almost a week ago, it shows its unlocked but i cant find it anywhere….im starting to get frustrated. I did all the notes for the guitar & at the end you see the drums pic with a √, so when i went to buy it, it is nowhere to be found. Help….?!?!?!???
Well it should be there, im not sure why its not sorry! The only thing i can suggest is are you looking in the right place? In the teen section or the promotions store. If its still not there you should probably contact EA to see if they can help!

You should find it after the keyboards in the teen section- I don’t know why it wouldn’t be there! Try looking in the hobby shop- it might be in there.

Hey, so I basically went to my neighbors in the party boat and played the all the instruments and unlocked all 15 songs or whatever including the photoshoot thing but when I go back to my own town it still shows “write 15 songs” as a goal even tho I have completed them. Now I bought a micphrone and my sim is singing but it still shows the same goal..what do I do?m
I think it’s because you did it at your neighbours it doesn’t recognise that you have completed it. I had 2 goals a neighbour goal saying ‘deep sleep at a neighbours house and a normal goal at the same time ‘deep sleep in a bed’ I thought by completing the neighbour one it would complete both but it didn’t complete the normal goal. You might have to find all the microphone notes again in your own town!

Are you talking about the teen celebrity magazine because it’s the stack of magazines in the living room furniture section. Get your teen sim to click on the magazines then the option will appear! I hope that’s what you meant!

Have you found the magazine? Once you have placed it in your house make sure that you get a teen sim to read the teen celebrity magazine- no other sim can read this one!

Have you been doing the island monuments collection? because it is a lot like that, the items for the sim sign appear randomly above a sims head when they complete an action, it is completely at random and takes ages to collect them all- I only have 2 of each at the moment! You can speed it up with LPs if you are in a hurry.
My sim can’t get the electric guitar rare note he’s been playing for 2days trying to get it and I Keeps getting Bar chord notes! Help!:(
If you want to do it faster you could buy a more expensive guitar, but try and be patient- the rare ones are always the hardest to get but you will get it eventually!

Are you reading the right magazine in the stack? it is called teen celebrity. Remember that only one teen can be the teen idol so it won’t work if both of them are doing it

The sign requires parts that you collect when you complete random goals, like the island monuments. It takes ages to collect all the parts you need, you can speed it up by using LPs.
i have all the checkpoints and the materials but i cannot build the sim sign or the teen house
You need to get the sim sign to level 3 to build the teen house
To upgrade the sim sign you need to first collect all the pieces you need (click on the sim sign to see what you need) then once you have all the pieces it will give you the option to upgrade it, then you need to collect more items to upgrade again and so on
I still can’t not get the bass guitar and it’s checked do I need to report this to the Sims free play or how do I do it

Only one teen can complete the teen idol goals, once you have completed the goals another teen can probably play the instruments but I only have one teen sim at the moment so I’m not sure!

Has anyone had a chance to try this? I have 2 teen sims and would like to double them up to pump out the necessary pieces for the mansion, but I got nervous when the game said “There can be only one” and other teen idols may lose their talents. I was hopeful because they used the word “may”, but I didn’t want to risk it. Has anyone else been more carefree with their sims? Thanks!
You can only have one teen be famous
Hi. I had a chance to try this out and it worked! Send your second teen to a friend’s town and have them play the keyboard (since it’s the shortest time). That teen sim will learn the Teen Idol hobby tree and the previous Teen Idol will keep their hobby. I now have 2 teens learning songs on the same hobby tree.
In the teen idol quest I need to read the teen celebrity magazine but it will not appear in my magazine stack. I have bought 3 stacks of magazines now and it will not give that option. Help it has a time limit!
I’m going to make a post especially for this as I get asked this question so much, make sure your teen idol is the one selected to click on the magazine and then the option will appear!

Are there any cheats to finding the notes faster. I have 5 left and in the past day and a half, I haven’t gotten any new notes.
They arent really cheats but, you can buy more expensive instruments that cost LPs, the time they take is quicker and you are likely to find the rare notes quicker or just spend LPs to complete the action instantly.
Im stock in 12 pieces in my road of fame I dont get any other nots and I keep doin the same thing over and over please help
You may want to upgrade to a more expensive instrument, this makes it easier to get the rare notes!

It took me about a week I think, I didn’t use LPs either, you just have to keep your sim at it- mine was constantly playing the instruments until I found them all. It takes ages but don’t give up!

You get the items for the sign randomly when you do actions, it takes ages to update the sim sign unless you use LPs!

I was wondering how the photoshoot occurs. I understand the building of the sign, but I cannot seem to find the photoshoot access, and it is unlocked.
The photoshoot is a part of the sim sign, you need 5 of each of the things (including the photoshoot) to upgrade the sim sign

This doesn’t work for me I did all the things until play 15 and I finished the quest but I didn’t get the free instruments I still have the crappy ones; on the sign I have one of everything but the middle one help me please I want the Mansion SOOO bad
You may have taken too long to get the free instruments (you had to complete within a week I think)
You just need to keep doing actions to get those things for the sim sign, it takes ages, you could speed it up with LPs
