This quest unlocks the sim sign and teen idol hobby for your teenage sims to complete, most of this quest is completing the hobby. If you complete this quest in the 7 day time limit you will unlock premium 3 star instruments. You can still complete this quest once the time limit is up to unlock the hobby but you won’t get the premium instruments

- Buy a stack of magazines- these can be found in the living room section of buy mode (costs S600)
- Make a teenager read teen celebrity magazine- 4 minutes 33 seconds (click on the stack of magazines and choose the teen celebrity option- only a teen can read this!) [click blue skip button to complete instantly]
- Make a teenager watch funny cat videos- 1 hour 40 minutes (on the computer)
- Send a teenager to the park
- Create a plan to become famous- 6 hours 10 minutes [inspired: 5 hrs 52 mins] (using the blackboard in the park on the pier)
YOU HAVE NOW UNLOCKED KEYBOARDS:
- Buy a keyboard from the home store (in the hobby and career items section) (cheapest costs S650)
The next goals have you completing the Teen Idol Hobby, each time you use one of the instruments you unlock in this quest you will write a piece of music, once you find all pieces of music you will have completed the hobby collection.
- Write music (using the keyboard to find notes- cheapest keyboard takes 1 hour) [inspired: 57 mins]
- Write 3 pieces of music (you have to find a new note to be counted as a piece of music using the keyboard so you need to find 2 more new pieces of music, when you have found all 3 you will unlock the next instrument)
YOU HAVE NOW UNLOCKED BASS GUITARS:
You unlock different instruments with each line of notes you find, the higher star rating the instruments have, the faster your sim will write music
Once you’ve found all the keyboard notes you will unlock the bass guitar which you can buy from the hobby and career items section of buy mode (cheapest costs S650) (cheapest takes 2 hours [inspired: 1 hr 54 mins] to make music) then when you have found all the bass guitar notes you unlock the drum kit and so on..
- Write 6 pieces of music (you need to use the bass guitar to find the next 3 pieces)
YOU HAVE NOW UNLOCKED DRUM KITS:
You can buy a drum kit from the hobby and career items section of buy mode (cheapest costs S650)
- Write 9 pieces of music (you need to use the drum kit to find the next 3) (cheapest takes 3 hours [inspired: 2 hrs 51 mins] to make music)
YOU HAVE NOW UNLOCKED ELECTRIC GUITARS:
You can buy an electric guitar from the hobby and career items section of buy mode (cheapest costs S650)
- Write 12 pieces of music (you need to use the electric guitar to find the next 3) (cheapest takes 4 hours [inspired: 3 hrs 48 mins] to make music)
YOU HAVE NOW UNLOCKED MICROPHONES:
You can buy a microphone from the hobby and career items section of buy mode (cheapest costs S650)

Once you complete this quest you unlock the Sim Sign
You will find the sim town sign near the premium residences by the estate agency- you need to upgrade it to get the chance to earn a bonus in revenue. When you upgrade it to level 3 you unlock the teen idol mansion- the first one is free! To upgrade the sim sign you need to collect the resources, to find these resources you can redo the collection and when you finish a line you get a resource or you can find them randomly when you do an action!

Time Limited Prize: Premium Instruments
Is the prize worth it? they are 3 star instruments so you can complete a collection quicker without buying the 3 star instruments that cost LP (but there is no difference between premium and 3 star instruments apart from the cost)
Where can I find them? In the hobby and career items section
Cost? Keyboard (S6,000) Bass (S6,500) Drumkit (S6,000) Guitar (S6,200) and Microphone (S5,500)

You cannot miss main quests they have to be completed in order. You need to complete all previous quests (list can be found here) and reach level 20 before you can start this quest
Can I complete this quest even though I have passed level 20?
Yes, you just need to complete all previous quests then this quest will start automatically
I can’t place the magazines in my house, why?
You need to put them on a table or counter, you cannot place them on the floor
My sims won’t read the magazine, help!
Do blue footprints appear? Read the answer below
Why do blue footprints appear when I try to use an item?
Blue footprints appear when your sim cannot access an item you want them to use, you need to either rotate the item or move an item that has been placed in front of it so they can use it
Help, all items are greyed out apart from the magazines! What should I do?
Buy the magazines again, this should allow you to access the rest of buy mode
Do I need a teen for this quest?
Yes, in this quest you complete the teen idol hobby for the first time so a teen is required to complete all the goals
Can I have more than one teen doing this at once?
No, only one teen can be the teen idol and complete this hobby at one time
I have done the task write 3 pieces of music but it will not complete, why?
You need to write 3 different pieces, you cannot just do the task 3 times
Why can’t I buy the microphone yet?
You need to find all 3 pieces of music on the keyboard, then all 3 on the bass guitar, then all 3 on the drum kit, then all 3 on the guitar and then you will be able to buy the microphone
I cannot find one of the pieces, what should I do?
Some take longer to get than others to find so just keep going, you will find them eventually!
What do I get if I complete this quest in the time limit?

What is the difference between the 3 star instruments and the premium instruments?
Apart from cost (3 star instruments cost LPs) there is no difference

The bonus is 200 simoleons not 200 LPs, it takes absolutely ages to upgrade the sign because you need to collect all the items that appear randomly
How do u get the bass guitar
By unlocking all the keyboard notes
I have all of the keyboard notes unlocked and a check by the bass guitar but don’t know how to get it

My teen idol is all the way to level 6. There is no bass guitar to complete the six songs. I have unlocked it but It’s not in the teen section of the home store and it’s not in the hobby store. How do I fix this??

Can I complete this quest by using intstrumants at my neighbours house so I can avoid spending 10lps buying each instruments.
You don’t have to buy the expensive instruments for 10LPs you can use the cheap ones, it just takes longer. You won’t be able to do this at a neighbours

So I’ve already finished the quest and I want to finish the grid again to get the cameo and the other reward required to level up the sim town sign but my teen won’t play the drums or guitar! I’ve already gotten all the notes for the mic, bass, and keyboard but he refuses to play those two! Do you now why?
Does a red cross or blue footprints appear above his head? If so you may need to move the item and place it somewhere else where he can access it!
How do you get the stuff you need to build the town sign
You get the stuff by completing actions, you get them at random but if you start collecting the notes again you can get some of the pieces you require!
Hi. How long did it take for you to get all the pieces for the sign? I’ve been at it for hours and havnt got a single piece. 😦
I haven’t completed my sim sign yet- it takes forever! A way you could speed it up is by completing the teen music collection again, when you complete some of the rows of notes you can get a piece you need!
Hi. Great blog. I have been trying forever to complete this quest and my teen just won’t make more songs. I have the “expensive bass, keyboard and drums” he plays constantly. What’s wrong? The quest is still there so I think I still have to complete it but if I EVER do will I still be able to get the sign and mansion too? Any help would be awesome. Thanks again
There is no way to speed this up, you just have to keep trying I’m afraid, you will get them eventually!
And yes I think you can get the sign and mansion when you complete it
I’m having the same problem trying to complete all the notes. And I also have the “most expensive” insturments you can purchase. I have been trying to get them all since this started months ago and it is really starting to aggravate me to tell you the truth. I just need 2 more notes to complete and have been trying for over a month now just to get those 2.. I’m irritated over this!

Firstly are you playing a normal guitar or the teen one? If its the normal one you can’t play that for a hobby
I think you need to an adult sim to play a normal guitar in another town

I didn’t complete the quest in time so I didn’t receive the prizes but am I able to get the resources by practicing on the prize instruments in a neighbors town to complete the sign? Or can I practice on the regular teen instruments at home to be able to upgrade the sign?
You can just practice on the regular ones at home

Hi all. Two problems. Number 1, on the road to fame quest. I have all the notes but 1 singing note and every time I try to use the mic it doesn’t give me the last new note. What’s up???
Second, it says I need to read celebrity magazine at neighbors but I look in all the houses and no magazine. What to do?? I don’t have enough LP to pass over it.
Sometimes it takes a while to get a note, just be patient and keep trying you will get it eventually
If your neighbour doesn’t have one then you can’t do this goal, you could find another neighbour who has it
How do u unlock the teen mansion I mean what do u have to do to collect those items
You can complete the collection again to receive more of the items you need, you can also get them at random by doing actions
I’m on the road to fame quest. I have completed all the songs up to the vocal. My teen is level six, all I need is the microphone to finish getting the last three songs. But I can’t find it anywhere! If you didn’t completely on time you can still complete the quest you just won’t get the prizes for finishing within a certain time

You need to write 6 different pieces of music, look at the collection table and see how many you have because it probably isn’t 6 yet

I finished this quest just today but I can’t seem to find the teen idol house or whatever it’s called. There’s nothing in there except the 2 story unfurnished house & the 3 story. No teen idol house. Why?
Do you have access to the sim sign, on the far right of the town map- you need to build this first to be able to unlock the teen mansion

Ive been singing on a level 2 mic for 2days now i have one day left to complete the teen idol challenge…i notice in the hobby part she not leveling up im half way two level five (hobbies) and i have one song left to unlock but nothings happening im just stuck! Any suggestions???
It’s probably just going up really slowly but you don’t need to get to level 6 to find the microphone notes you just have to keep going, you will get it eventually!
Sigh~ I can’t complete the goals on time.. I missed the prize.. Is there any chance I can redeem the prize again?
You can now only buy each of the premium instruments for LPs you can’t get them for free after the time is over

Go to the menu on the right hand side, go to the hobbies tab and go down to the teen idol sim, click on the blue circle image and the collection will appear, you can see what you need from there

If you redo the musical collection you will be able to find some of the parts you need, this is the easiest way, but you can find them randomly by doing actions
My teen quest is stuck..it says I have 3 more notes to find..ive completed all and now almost done with the the other sets ..hope that made sense..im also on level 6 on teen music hobby…but its stays at “3 more notes left” and ive gotten 9 notes after that…what happened?
So it says you have 3 notes left you need to find? If you look at the collection it will show you how many you have left. Multiple finds of one note don’t count as a new note
Ive completed the whole set…then it said if I wanted to start a new set…and ive got one left for vocals then im done again for the second time..but yet it still says 3 notes left since the first set (guitar, drums, keyboard, mic)

What are you trying to get? Have to unlocked all the instruments yet?
I can’t really tell you how to do it because it’s random, you will get them eventually you just have to keep at it, it’s a bit strange that you have been on it so long though, maybe it’s a glitch, try contacting EA to see if they know what’s up
I just started the Road to fame quest yesterday. I know that once I complete the quest and build the sign and upgrade it you unlock the teen idol mansion.
The first time the quest first came out I was already upgrading to level two and deleted the game…anyways point is… even though this late into the quest do I still get the FREE teen idol mansion or I just get to unlock it?(Btw id be very upset to find out I unlock everything just to wait till I have 80 lps that will take me forever to collect) :(( I need an answer pweeease
You should still get the free mansion, if you unlock the sign then that’s how you get the free mansion, I’m not sure what would be the point of the sign if you didn’t get the mansion free

Well the first one should be free then they cost LPs but they may have changed this recently
2 star instruments make music faster so you could complete the collections quicker but it won’t guarantee you get the pieces you want 🙂
I’ll soon find out if the mansion is still free as I am getting closer to unlocking it! Apparently it isn’t free anymore which is annoying
It wouldnt have let you buy the baby if you had reached the limit so the limit was reached when you brought the baby, the limit increases as you level up 🙂

Oh I have no idea sorry 😛 It really does depend on how many you find doing random actions as well so it would be difficult to say, and I have no idea how many of each piece are needed to upgrade it but you do get one of each when you complete each collection so you could roughly guess 🙂

Nope you can do that, the teen idol just has to play the instruments 🙂
I see some other people have glitches too. I finished all the chords and it didn’t move me on to the next quest. I am in the process of finding them all again.

I can’t get the microphone to unlock… it says the notes I need are electric guitar ones and the microphone is that prize but nothing for a week. I used the microphone at a friends house for vocal ones..ugh
So have you been using the electric guitar to find the notes? Maybe you are using the bass guitar by mistake
