YOU NEED TO COMPLETE THE IN STITCHES QUEST BEFORE YOU CAN BEGIN THIS QUEST
Completing this quest unlocks automatic ageing so your sims can age and die as well as the ability to give your sims personalities and earn orbs to build new places; the pet park, arcade, beach and carnival. If you complete this quest in the 5 day time limit you will unlock the singing salmon which makes your sims inspired! You can still complete this quest once the time limit is up but you won’t get the singing salmon
How long does this quest take to complete?
Right now you can reverse your sims back to the beginning of their life stage for FREE so they don’t have to die if you don’t want them to!
Times may vary depending on the star rating an item has.
- Call a friend on a phone- 4 minutes
- Send invitations on a computer- 4 minutes
- Send 5 sims to snow park
- Tend the bar in the snow park (stay tending the bar for the next task)
- Order a cocktail at cabin (snow park)- 32 seconds (you can only do this task when someone is tending the bar)
- Ask Osiris about new inventions- 6 minutes 12 seconds
- Open the age controller (see steps 1 and 2 in the image below)
- Advance an adult sims age
- Send a sim to the park
- Examine the glowing orb- 1 day 20 minutes (can be found on the pier in the park)
- Give the orb to a senior (that sim will pass away during this quest)
- Open the life dreams menu (see image below)
- Choose a life dream
- Fulfil a life dream- you could get any one of these life dreams, I have included how to complete them (times may vary):
- I want to read Sci Fi books from a preteen bookshelf- 4 hours (Select Sci Fi from preteen bookshelf)
- I want to debunk theories of relativity while drinking tea- 13 hours 20 minutes (Select debunk theory of relativity on teapot)
- I want to write letters to sci fi celebrities on the computer- 7 hours 12 minutes (Letters to celebs option on computer)
- I want to get all Dr Whoozits memorabillia via the internet and send it to a museum- 11 hours 42 minutes (Select the option on a computer)
- I want to talk to tech support about computer systems on the phone- 4 hours 30 minutes (Select the option on the phone)
- I want to create an edible board game army by baking gingerbread sims- 6 hours (Bake Gingerbread on a stove)
- I want to read encyclopedias from bookshelfs- 3 hours (Select encyclopedia on a bookshelf)
- I want to argue with park statue constantly about the virtues of Dr Whoozits- 8 hours 20 minutes (Click on the thinking man statue in the park)
- I want to have many scientific breakthroughs in the bath- 9 minutes (Select the option on a bath)
- I want to strategize chess on a chessboard as often as possible-6 hours (Select the option on a chess board)
- I want to have marathon movie sessions on a TV- 8 hours (Select Movie Marathon on a TV)
- I want to tell a lot of sims all about Ms Vampire Slayer- 10 hours (requires another sim, select option)
- Have a senior ask Osiris for help- 5 minutes
- Tap on the beach, carnival, arcade or pet park on island
- Have a senior ask Osiris for help- 20 seconds
- Fulfil a life dream- (the same as you did before)
- Have a scientific breakthrough in the bath- 9 minutes
- Debunk theory of relativity while drinking tea- 10 hours 30 minutes
- Tend to garden- 1 hour (plant)
- Prepare family dinner- 6 hours (stove)
- Complete a cycle of life (goodbye senior sim!)
- Have 4 sims in one house
- Be nice to a sim- 1 minute
- Have a baby- 1 day (can be started early) (having a baby through the pregnancy event will complete this)

First I want to thank you for all the help you’ve given me on these quests, you’ve saved me so many hours of anguish 🙂
I’m in the middle of this quest, and I’m concerned about how I’m going to be able to have a baby and still complete it in a reasonable amount of time. I need to get through two more levels before I can even add another sim again…does this quest make an exception and let you have one anyway or do I have to wait?

No, it doesn’t make an exception but when your sim dies your sim count should decrease so you can add the baby but the problem with that is you won’t be able to start having the baby early, if you wanted to have the baby before the sim died you would need to delete an existing sim in your town.
I just completed this quest and wanted to let you know that sometime since the the baby steps update they have changed some of the times. I used all three star Items, which might account for some of the differences, but not all of them.
“Send invitations on a Computer” is now only 4 min.
“Ask Osiris about new invention” is back down to 6 min 12 sec
“Have a scientific Breakthrough in the bath” was only 9 min
“Debunk Theory of Relativity with a tea set” was 10 hr 30 min
the add a baby was also not free (48000 i had 27 sims in my town), I would have started it early if i knew that had changed. 😦

Even though I am not in this quest yet I just have a question.
When one of your sim dies can you revive it with lifestyle points or is there someway a sim can visit the dead sim like in a cemetery and is there a funeral or it just dies like that 😵 and no sim cares?

Hi! So glad to find a page like this… I need a help with this quest Im currently in, the “Life Dreams & Legacies”…Im actually at the last task which is to have a baby but I cant do it. I have a married couple and even bought a new wood crib (which cost me 5LP!!) thinking it would work but did not. Im at Level 40 now and still even have 1 slot for new sim (26/27). What am I missing? Please help, I still have 2 days for this quest. Thank you!
In what was won’t it work? Does the option to add not appear? Or when you click on the add baby button does it give a reason why you can’t add the baby?
I’m having the same problem. The add a baby button doesn’t appear. I even moved a sim out of town, hoping it would help and the button still isn’t there.

I had to age one of my married Sims for this quest and thought I’d be able to reverse it. It’s giving me the option to age back to the beginning of the Senior stage. I don’t want to have a married couple with one senior and one adult. Is there any way to make him an adult again?
No sorry, you cannot reverse a sim to a previous life stage
I love your blog. I have made a couple of comment/questions but they don’t appear to be getting answered, so I have another question and posting here: I have all of my sims busy doing thing always, but some of them aren’t hardly aging at all and others are aging very rapidly. (Adult age group) Do you know why?
I have definitely answered all your questions.
The ones that are ageing faster must be doing actions that take longer than the sims who are ageing slowly, for example if sim 1 went to work every day and didn’t do anything else they would age slower than sim 2 who works in the day then goes home and plants beans during the night. Just finished this quest and the sim that passed away had a cat which I now can’t find when I visit the house. I didn’t even think of it when I picked that sim but do they remove the pet as well?
No they don’t, the pet should still be in the house, is the animal print sign still on the house when you look on it from the town map?

I am having trouble with the Life Dreams and Legacies quest.

So I’m.in the life and dreams quest and I had all 5 sims at the snow Park… They asked Osiris about his invention and then the next part is to age my simple, but it doesn’t give me the option when I click Osiris… I’ve closed the game and reopened it and it still doesn’t work… Any idea?
Osiris doesn’t age your sim, you need to go to the age controller (on the panel which shows you your sims jobs, hobbies and relationships, there is a new tab to advance a sims age) The picture in the post under the goal ‘Advance an adult sims age’ you need to click on the button in step 3 and click advance to complete this goal.
I accidentally deleted my sim who I chose to age during this quest and now don’t seem to be able to age another in its place in order to complete the quest. Help?! Thanks! 🙂

The sims aging does sound more interesting after reading that but I definitely don’t want that to happen until I’ve completed all the other quests and built everything else up first.
Maybe one day when I’ve done everything else that I can, I might go for it then.
I’ve got quite attached to my sims but I could always recreate them once they’ve died I suppose.
Would be nice to give them a life purpose as well once I’ve completed everything else.

I don’t mean to sound rude and understand that you can be busy but I would really appreciate it if you responded to this one! So here it goes. I am just about finished the l,d&l quest (I’m on the have a baby task ) and I have started giving my Sims personality’s and dreams I have completed a few of the tasks but its not showing any progress of the dreams so I’m kinda confused. You can’t give your sims personalities or life dreams until you complete the life dreams quest, as completing the quest unlocks that.

You need a add a baby using a crib in the house of a married couple.
Hi I already have a baby ready to be made in a cradle (green button above cradle) for the last task “have a baby” would it be complete if I went in and made one??? Thanks for your blog it’s really helpful. I’ve used it for most of the course of my game.
Leave it with the green button until you get the task otherwise you will have to add another baby

Hi there. Not really a question but more of an opinion…… as i trust your opinions, do you think it’s worth while to do this quest or stay away from it. Is it difficult to play the game after this quest is done. I had done all my quests but that one on a previous game but had to restart. I’m still debating whether or not to go ahead with this quest and I’d like an honest opinion regarding it.
Honestly this is such a difficult question to answer, I have done this quest, I didn’t want to at first but I did it and now I am used to them dying, I have built all the places with orbs now I am working on getting the platinum orbs to pause my sims so I can start to rebuild my town, it takes a long time to earn the orbs needed to pause a sim so it is a lot of effort but its not difficult to play as you will get used to it.

How long since you’ve completed this quest….. to give me an idea of how long it would take to get the orbs to pause my sims age.
I did this when it first came out, so March 2014 but there was a period when I didn’t play that game for a while and just concentrated on my newer game so it probably wouldn’t take you 2 years!
I decided to go ahead with the quest and have finished it so now working on life dreams.
Q1. Would it be better to build the arcade and such first or work on getting platinum to pause my sims?
Q2. As an adult…. does the bar increase by just 1% for all tasks?
1. That is what I did but it is up to you, there is no time limit on building those places but remember you will need sims to reach senior age to be able to earn an orb so if you decide to pause some first you should still have some who can age.
2. No it doesn’t, shorter tasks increase the % by the smaller amounts but the longer tasks increase it by more but the amount varies depending on the life dream and what orb they are working towards as it takes longer to earn a platinum orb than it would a bronze.

No, you cannot set life dreams for babies, you can for all other stages
Select browse clothes on a wardrobe to give an adult sim a personality and then you can give them a life dream

Hey, I can’t find the link to your page anymore with which quest should I stop at if I don’t want life and legacies to start. Like, I don’t want to do that whole new game orbs and all. I just want to do all old school normal tasks and not get seniors and death and all this new nonsense. I remember reading on your blog that if you stop at a certain quest, you don’t advance in the game but your sims don’t die. I just wanna go as far as I can quest-wise before aging and dying is introduced. And just rack ups money to finally slow down and do thing I can’t afford right now like upgrade my houses etc. 🙂 thank you so much

Hi!Just wanted to ask about the information panel.Im nowhere near this quest since I’m currently in the unicorn one When do you get that panel because I don’t have mine yet (I’m on iPad)
Do you mean the whole info panel or just the age controller part? You won’t get the age controller part until you get onto this quest, you will have the info panel that shows your sims jobs, hobbies and relationships.
I’m actually referring to the whole panel (sim tracker I think) because mine is on the bottom left and the one in the quest would be much more effective.
That version is for iPods and other small devices because there isn’t room for the panels to be the other way.
I need to have a baby but when I buy crib, there is no option above the crib to make a baby. Does anyone know why? Btw, crib is in the maried couple’s house.
Do they already have children or live with other adults? Only 4 sims can live in a house at once so you cannot add a baby if there is no space.

Babies cost simoleons once you complete this quest.
Adults don’t die, all sims age to each life stage and when they finish their life stage as a senior sim they will then die.

Hey there, thank you so much for making this blog, it’s been of great help to me and now I actually know and can calculate each task in the timed quests.
About the life and legacy quest, I have a tip if someone wants their sims to still be alive for a longer time so they can complete the other hobbies. I am currently on the Road To Fame quest and the time has run out. I have completed 91% of the quest but if I don’t finish it, I can buy myself more time to do other things. (As you know every quest must be completed before moving on to the next)
I hope this is helpful and can save people the trouble of hurrying through the last few quests. I also feel like its a good alternative to escape ‘death’.
When the sims pass away, is there a graveyard that appears or do the sims just dissapear??
The sim will just disappear.
Thanks for all of the help with sims I wouldn’t ever finish in time if it wasn’t for you! I did this quest a couple of weeks ago and I just wanted to point out that the singing salmon is SO worth it! You can buy one for every sim and you will never have to use the bathroom, eat, shower, or anything else ever again!! So just a word of advice to other simmers who are on this quest or are about to start it: start having the baby early! And go as fast as you can to complete it in time for the singing salmon. SO WORTH IT! even if you have to spend Lps. 🙂

Wow, I really appreciate all the work you have done! It has been amazing help since I started the game. I was so clueless about events and I’m glad I finally searched the internet for help. I was brand new during the last long hair event (fashion designing). I was still really clueless during the romance island, but I found your blog about 4 days into it! I didn’t even realize you could buy more than one banana tree! I got with the program and got everything up until the wedding venue.
Anyway! I am stopped in the in stitches quest because all that I have read about LD&L! I want to do that quest one day after I have built up my town. I am curious about Death taking over houses after sims die. Is their anyway to avoid that? Can you still add people to that house? Is their anyway to get the house back from death (grim I guess)?

Death doesn’t take over the house, he just comes and sends sims to the afterlife, once they have moved on he will leave (as long as no other sims are close to dying) you can then add a new sim to that empty house

Hey I have given two of my senior sims the life dream of having scientific discovery in the bath which takes ten mins. They have been doing it constantly but they are still stuck on 86% which is what they were as an adult. One of them has a silver orb and is going for a gold one so I really need to complete his life dream. Am I doing anything wrong? Also is there a way of changing their dream without changing their personality and setting them back to the start? Thanks!
This life dream is so short it takes a long time to increase the percentage, especially when they are trying to earn a gold orb. You are just going to have to keep going because you cannot change their life dream without having to start from 0% again.

Hi, im current doing this quest and im not sure how to have a baby. I have married couple who already has a child and he’s a teenager now. Do i have to propose one of my sims couples to have a baby?
Sims need to be married to be able to have a baby, if your married couple only has one child and no one else lives in that house you can add a crib to that house and add a baby to that house.
If i buy an expensive crib, wil infants become cheaper? Thanks

You can advance them for free when they complete their life dream for that stage or when they are ready to age automatically, otherwise it will cost you 2LPs
You do have to pay LPs to reverse sims but you have to use orbs to pause their life
Seniors have to complete 9 days worth of actions before they will die

First of all, I love your blogs/posts!! They really help me. I had 2 question about aging. I’ve had an adult sim since I started the app, and I was wondering if all my sims start aging as I start the L D&L quest or will it also add the time when I started the app. Also, when my sims go to work and school, will those actions also count towards aging, or is it only like watching tv and showering and stuff like that. I am currently almost finished with the In Stitches quest and will be starting he Life, Dreams, and Legacies quest and have one question. Are there any buildings/town structures that’ll be needed during the quest? That way I can build them before completing In Stitches so I don’t have to worry about running out of time during Life, Dreams, and Legacies.

Did you read the post? The post shows you what you have to do in the quest so it shows you the places you need to complete the tasks, those places are the snow park and park, both places you will already have.
i want to complete the “in stitches” quest, but not begin the “life dreams and legacies” quest. so is it possible that as soon as i finish the quest, i can avoid opening the next one? i hope there’s a way to avoid the final quest because i don’t want to be pressured with the aging process on all my sims on a constant basis.
Unfortunately this isn’t possible because as soon as you complete in stitches and are on level 26 or over this quest will begin (even if you aren’t on level 26 yet this quest will still start once you reach that level) and when the quest begins your sims will start to age.
yeah, don’t u just hate that? the only thing i’m upset about is that i had to give up on winning the patchwork teddy bear, which is what i wanted. i’ve stopped at 50% during the in stitches quest, so i’ll probably just stay there so i can continue playing the game without any worries. it’s a shame i may never get the quilting hobby either; i would’ve liked to create a senior sim resembling my gramma and have her doing that.
I know, it is a shame! On my previous game I started on the bird feeding quest as I really didn’t mind missing that prize incase I decided I wanted to do the in stitches one for the prize one day (I never did though!) unfortunately I lost that game due to it not saving correctly so the one EA gave me was already at level 25 with the in stitches quest completed so I had to do the life dreams quest as it started when I reached level 26 😦

I’m sorry, but this quest needs to be updated. There are now 3 more steps which are: have 4 sims in a house, be nice to a sim, and have a baby.
Those tasks are already in this post, please read the whole post before telling me I am wrong when I’m not.
I love all you posts and if is wasn’t for this all my sims would be dead… But I was wondering if you delete the sim that you will age can you get another sim to age? I have accidentally done this and I don’t want to miss out on the salmon

Thanks! Oh I’m not sure, I’ve always aged the sim who I advance in the quest but if you deleted the sim before they are given the orb you may be able to give the orb to another sim, hopefully! I don’t know if this will work though, sorry! If it doesn’t work you may want to contact EA to see if they can fix this issue for you.
