Once you have built the Sorcerous Supplies store this discovery quest will begin. If you complete this quest in the time limit you will unlock the pet dragon! You can still complete this quest once the time limit is up to unlock the spell casting hobby but you won’t get the dragon prize
You cannot complete this quest at the same time as any other discovery quest
The price for building the sorcerous supplies store will vary depending on how many businesses you have already built
HOW LONG DOES THIS QUEST TAKE TO COMPLETE?
Times may vary depending on the star rating an item has
- Buy a crystal ball (S5,000) from Sorcerous supplies
- Place a crystal ball in a house (you will find it in the decorations section of your inventory once you have brought it)
- Look into the crystal ball- 30 seconds
- Gaze into the crystal ball- 30 seconds
- Pick up the magic wand- 2 seconds
- Unlock the door to the wand room: Randomly Rearrange- 2 hours 30 minutes
- Pick up the magic wand- 30 seconds (magic wand podium- pictured below)
- Use a crystal ball to go home- 1 second
- Act casual on a couch- 10 hours
- Place the magic wand podium in your house (from hobbies section of inventory, pictured below)
- Cast random spells- 13 hours 30 minutes (using magic wand podium)
- Talk to a sim about magic wands- 8 minutes (click on another sim)
- Use the magic wand (cast random spell on magic wand podium)- 13 hours 30 minutes
- Watch emergency broadcast- 2 hours 30 minutes
- Visit the park
- Call a sim to the park
- Formulate a plan- 6 hours 10 minutes (click on a mummy)
- Search for a mummy removal spell on the Internet- 13 hours 30 minutes
- Perform anti-mummies spell on a magic wand (podium)- 7 minutes
- Use the crystal ball to visit the wizards house- 1 second
- Read weird world of wands at wizards house- 22 hours 30 minutes
- Explain to the wizard- 8 hours 12 minutes
- Use the crystal ball to go back home- 1 second
- Call a sim to the park
- Talk to the wizard- 1 minute 40 seconds
- Distract a mummy- 16 hours 30 minutes
- Talk to wizard about magic spells- 3 minutes
- Distract a mummy- 16 hours 30 minutes
- Joke around with the wizard- 10 seconds
- Distract a mummy- 16 hours 30 minutes
- Pack up the magic wand podium- 30 seconds
- Talk to the wizard- 3 hours 10 minutes (he should appear at the house you are at)
QUEST IS COMPLETE!
You can now complete the Spell Casting Hobby (you need to buy a magic wand podium like the one in this quest from the sorcerous supplies store, you do not get to keep the one in the quest) The time limit for the hobby begins as soon as you complete this quest
Prize: Dragons
Where do I find them? In the Pet store (if you haven’t built the pet store yet you can still get the dragons once it is built)
Cost?
- There are two 1 star dragons- one costs 50,000, the other costs 25 SP
- There are two 2 star dragons- one costs 250,000, the other costs 25 LP
- There are two 3 star dragons- one costs 50 LP, the other costs 100 LP
Is the prize worth it? Yes it really is! It is unusual and cute, why wouldn’t you want one? Once you have brought a dragon it will appear at the house, near the mailbox as an egg: 
You can move it into the house, the dragon takes a day to hatch: 
Once it has hatched it will fly around the house, like dogs and cats it will find simoleons and LP:
A sim can interact with the dragon to increase the dragons happiness, they can praise or feed them:

If you don’t start building the sorcerous supplies store you don’t have to do this quest at all but if you have already started building or started this quest you need to complete it before you can move on to the next quest
I haven’t started this quest yet, will it still be available when I want to do it?
Yes it will be, you can choose to start it whenever you like
How do I unlock the door to the wand room?
Select randomly rearrange
How do I place the magic wand podium, I can’t find it!
It will be in the hobby and career items section of your inventory
Why do blue footprints appear when I try to use an item?
Blue footprints appear when your sim cannot access an item you want them to use, you need to either rotate the item or move an item that has been placed in front of it so they can use it.
How do I send my sim to the park?
Go to the park and click on the whistle next to a sim who isn’t busy on the simtracker, this post explains more about the simtracker
Everytime my sim gazes into the crystal ball it says ‘this place is too crowded’ why?
If you already have a sim at the wizards cottage you will get this message, use the simtracker to go to the sim who is already there instead of using the crystal ball
Can I do all the distract a mummy tasks at the same time?
No you can’t, you can only do them one at a time
How do I pack up the magic wand podium?
Click on it to pack up
The magic wand podium has disappeared once I’ve picked it up! How do I complete the hobby?
You will need to buy a magic wand podium from the sorcerous supplies store to complete the hobby
What do I get if I complete this quest in the time limit?
Pet dragons

Yes they will
What do the dragons do?
They find simoleons and LPs like dogs and cats

Yes you have to finish it to unlock the spell casting hobby before you can move onto the next quest

Yes, the time limit for the hobby starts straight away once this quest is complete, you can click no when the hobby pop up appears but this does not stop the timer going down

some people say you can and others say they can’t because when you try and do the crystal ball task it will tell you the wizards house is too crowded so you could always try and see if it works!

I got the three star dragon and it took 24 hours to hatch too so I’m pretty sure it’s the same for all dragons. (Because you wrote in your post “the one star dragon takes a day to hatch”) just thought you that could be helpful.

It won’t let me go back to collect the podium, I’ve joked around with the wizard & finished the quest but don’t have access to wizards house through the crystal ball anymore. I’m on the next bit of the quest with 2 days to complete for a barn owl but can’t afford to buy a podium. Please help
you need to buy the podium from the sorcerous supplies store, you can’t go back to the wizards house once you finish the quest.

When I tried to place the crystal ball, I was unable to do it. Then I figured out that when I bought the crystal ball it had gone into my INVENTORY and not the regular items for sale under Decorations. Look to the Inventory, my friend!
Hello just found website. But my sister and I was wondering does the book of spells come back or is it one time chance? I got the dragon but my sister didn’t complete it in time and was hoping it will come back so she could get the dragon.

Hi, I clicked ‘not now’ on ‘the book of spells’, ‘a dance to remember’ and ‘the sunset mall’ quests, because I was busy with others. Did I start the timer on all of them?! I am extremely OCD, so I really need to complete every quest in the limited time… I don’t know if there was anything else I clicked ‘not now’ to -> I’m at level 13. The only discovery quest I’ve done is ‘Nanny knows best’.
Also, I haven’t built the mall or the sorcerous supplies buildings, so I’m mainly worried about the ‘dance to remember’ quest.
No, you haven’t started the timer on any of them, the quest will only start once you either click ‘begin quest’ on a person or when you build a place such as the mall. But on a lot of the discovery quests as soon as you finish them you get a pop up about a hobby, if you click not now on that the timer will still start so just a warning!
Do u need lps to complete the quest in the time?

Help: even tho there’s no other Sim in the wizard’s house, it keeps popping up a message saying that the place is too crowded/ only one sim allowed. Why?

I had the same issue and it was the little purple monsters! I had to collect the candy for that quest before I could continue with the Book of Spells quest. It can be frustrating trying to complete both quests at the same time. It is possible to complete both at the same time though! I’ve been using some LP’s to help me get through it. Best of luck!
I wasn’t able to get back to the wizard’s house due to the Halloween quest but wanted to share that if you can complete the steps that involve the purple monsters you’ll be able to use the crystal ball again. Misty doesn’t prevent you from getting there, seems to only happen when the monsters are running around. Hope this helps someone 🙂

you can’t delete it, it will probably be in your inventory under hobby and career items

Someone help! I went to the wizards house and I left while my sim was reading the book and now they are stuck there!! Only one sim cant visit the wizards house at a time so I cant get back.

Hey i complete the quest but i dont get any mail in mail box and i dont have any dragon now i have to build pet store to buy it even those i complete before the time’s up
The mailbox is where your daily reward appears every day, the dragon will not appear next to it until you build the pet store and buy a dragon.

My sim is at the wizard’s house reading the “Weird World of Wands” and since it’s 22 hours, I thought about going back to the town and taking care of my other sims while she is doing this quest. Do you know if I will mess up the spell quest if I leave and return again? I’m leery of trying it, so I thought I’d see if you might have tried this and knew what the outcome might be.

Hi, lately ive been having this problem with this quest after the christmas update. My sim was halfway through reading the weird world of wands book when my freeplay got updated and my sim stopped reading the book. Now she is also stuck in the wizards house and i can’t seem to get her out with the crystal ball. And i also missed the time limit for the quest due to the glitch,and ive also tried restarting my device. Now what should I do?
Can you not get her out by clicking the whistle next to her picture on the simtracker?

This event takes up like 6 days straight, does that mean i always have to calculate the finish time to carry out the mission continuously? Is there any step I can prepare beforehand? Like Act casual on the couch or Watch emergency broadcast
Non of the tasks can be started early so you will probably have to use some LPs to speed it up if you want to complete in the time limit

I took a little break from this game and returned today. I updated to the holiday version, and I built the sorcerer’s shop, but I cannot find the magic and monsters quest anywhere in the game. I’ve even checked the quest queue. Do you know why this is or how to get the quest? I’d be really bummed to miss out on this!
