BOOK OF SPELLS QUEST – MAGIC WAND PODIUM – TEEN AND ADULT SIMS – PRIZES: BROOMSTICK FLYING HOBBY AND 5LP
TIME LIMITED HOBBY – TIME: 7 DAYS – TIME LIMITED PRIZE: BARN OWL
Once you complete the Book Of Spells Quest the time limit for this hobby will start straight away, to begin this hobby you need to buy the magic wand podium from the promotions r us store or the sorcerous supplies store for S5,000 and place it in one of your sims houses:
I cannot place the magic wand podium, it says its locked/ limited item, what do I do? You will have this problem if you try and place it from the new items tab, look in your inventory instead to be able to place the magic wand podium in one of your sims houses.
If you complete this hobby in the 7 day time limit you will unlock the imperial barn owl:
Your teen or adult sim needs to click on the magic wand podium and select one of the options:
- Quick Spell- 2 hours 30 minutes
- Spell Casting Session- 8 hours 30 minutes
NOTE: the first time you complete this hobby you can only buy one magic wand podium so only one sim can complete this hobby but you can send another sim to a neighbours town to complete this hobby (if they have a magic wand podium) after the first time as many sims as you want can complete this hobby as you can buy as many magic wand podiums as you want
After the time has passed come back and click the exclamation mark above your sims head to find one of the spell casting collectibles. Every time your sims complete one of the options above their spell casting hobby skill level up percentage will increase, once they reach 100% they will level up, there are 6 levels. You need to reach level 6 to be able to unlock all of the spell casting collectibles, once unlocked you will be able to find them.
The table below shows the level up percentage for each option:

The next table shows you for each level what spell casting collectibles you unlock (so you can then find those ones too) and also the level up reward that a second and future sims will receive when they level up in this hobby:

NOTE: only the first sim completing this hobby needs to get to level 6 to unlock all the collectibles, future sims will be able to find any collectible even if they are only on level 1 in this hobby (and they can do the shortest option to try and find the collectibles quicker!)
You won’t find a new collectible each time, you will get repeats, if this happens just keep going, you will find them eventually! If it is still taking too long you can use the lucky spin on the row where you cannot find the item, this will cost LPs, when you click on the LP button it will clear the row and give you a random collectible on that row so you aren’t guaranteed a new item (you will get back any other collectibles you already had in that row) Need to earn some LPs to use the lucky spin?
The completed spell casting collection is shown below, once you complete the collection you need to click ‘start a new collection’ at the top of the hobby collection screen, this clears the board so you can complete the collection again to earn more rewards (you will only get the option to restart the hobby collection when you have completed the collection):
You will earn XPs when you complete a row in the hobby but to complete the collection you need to find all 12 of the collectibles
If you complete this hobby in the time limit you will unlock the Imperial Barn Owl, which can be found in the Sorcerous supplies store and pet section of the home store and costs 15LP. Disappointingly it is just like a wall decoration, I was hoping it would fly around the house!
The rewards for completing this collection are the broomstick flying hobby and 5LP:
- The first time you complete this collection you unlock the broomstick flying hobby (even if you don’t manage to complete in the time limit) again this is a time limited hobby and the time limit will begin as soon as you complete the spell casting hobby
- From the second time onwards each time you complete the collection you will earn 5LP

Hi! I was wondering if we only get 7 days to complete the Spell Casting Hobby AND the Book of Spells Quest or do we get 7 days for the quest then an additional 7 days to complete the hobby? Thanks!
I forgot to ask, are there other owls available for purchase after we complete the Book of Spells Quest or is this the only owl we can get? From what I’ve been reading it looked like owls would be available in the pet store but I feel I might be a little confused between the latest update, the latest quest, and the new hobby. So many new things at once!

That is the only owl avaliable, it costs 15LPs, it can be found in the pet section of the home store, not the pet store.

Hello! You get 7 days for the quest then 7 days for the hobby
Im a bit confused about this…i do have 1 podium thing…but 1 sim?? Because i have like 6 hrs to complete the process to get the owl and they would keep giving me the same spell thing so i only have 5 of 12 done isit worth using lps to hope i finish? I only have 10 :[ instead of using 3 for a random item i was going to use 2 and keep doing quick spells will it work? Or is it even worth it? Is the owl even worth having either? And is this the ONLY way i can get one? I have a toddler but my cake is grey so i cant age him to open the pet store so idk if i can get an owl there in the future can i? Or does ea just hate me -__-
Yes one sim using the podium at one time, they do it so it is harder for you to get the owl
The owl isn’t really worth it as it costs Lps and it doesn’t really do anything, it isn’t found in the pet store, it is in the pet section of the buy mode
Sorry forgot to mention i have 3 sims now trying to do spells on the same podium does this mean i cant get the owl now no matter what? If so can i have the 2 sims forget the hobby so i can complete the owl quest?
There isn’t much point in using 3 sims on one podium, I would just concentrate on getting one sim to level 6 at that hobby
But the owl isn’t really worth it anyway

Hi Claire Bear 🙂 I saw your message in Girl who Games..I also do not see the magic podium option to buy in my game either… But if you go to town to the Hobbies Store ( next to pet shop) you can buy one there. You can also use a neighbor magic spell podium in addition to yours to speed up the quest. Add me if you like, I have two spell podiums, the houses with sims wearing magic costumes. If my sim is using it, just click on them and they will move away, it does not affect my game. Hope this helps!

I almost got mine done just a few more been having a full lot worth of cooks working 1 min each to get 5 lp per set fast but still struggling i only just got finished with the hobbie quest yesterday and got the dragon waiting for it till hatch
I finished the spell quest and I purchased the broomstick at the spells tore but I can’t get it and I paid 10,000 for it twice

You can work this hobby twice as fast if you have a neighbor with a magic wand podium. I currently have one sim at home casting spells and another one at a neighbor casting spells.

Yup, that’s what I do with other hobbies like fishing, bird feed, fashion designer ing, when we had that long hairdos quest…..& i couldn’t afford Another designer table hahh.

Yeah…I used up all my LPs just to complete it in time because my game went crazy (I was almost done with something but I had to start over…so I didn’t even have to speed things up if that didn’t happen in the first place…) so I don’t know why this is happening to me…I really wanted a dragon too 😦

I have a question on using LP to finish this hobby. I’ve never done that before. If I use the LP’s does it finish off the whole row, or does it just give me one completed item in that row? I still have 5 days and 5 of the 12, but may resort to that at the last minute if I have to because I’d like to have the owl. Thanks!
It just gives you one, but it gives you a random one, not always the one you want so it may give you one you already have so keep that in mind
I selected “not now” yesterday for this task and yet today I discovered it has reduced by a day and I haven’t said yes to starting it. So now I have six days to get the owl. It must be a glitch or something

No it isn’t a glitch, you have 7 days from the moment you finish the quest, but I will add that to the post so others are aware!

I spent LPs to finish the spell casting instantly over and over until I got them all in time, only to find that the owl costs 15 LP. I decided it wasn’t worth it and reset to before I started spending LPs because I ended up using almost 100 LP just to get the owl!! Did you find the owl to be worth it??
I haven’t brought the owl yet as I’m saving my LPs to complete the next hobby in the time limit but what I have heard from others is that it is just like the parrot, it doesn’t do anything apart from allowing your sims to communicate with it so I don’t think it sounds worth it really

I haven’t finished the broomstick hobby yet but another person has told me it cost them 888,888 so I don’t think it increases in value with your town.
I just think a prize should be free, it is annoying spending lots of Lps to complete the hobby in time for something that costs so much!
I agree 🙂 I don’t normally use LPs to finish a hobby but with the time limit, I wanted to make sure I finished in time. If I had know the cost of the the magic broom, I wouldn’t have ; I wanted to let your followers know , so they could decide if it was worth it for them 🙂 At least the owl and cheapest LP dragon was in a reasonable price range.
Well I have got one of the pieces about 5 times in a row so I don’t think I’m going to waste my LPs trying to get the broom, its really not worth it!

Help, I Clicked the option spell casting session and my sim is now on level 2, i just unlocked one object in level 1, could I still get the other 2 left for level 1 and now I’m on level 2?

You can place a second (or more) magic wand podium.
I’m on GameCenter as Boristimmy. My podium is in the house just south of the Community Center. I’ll probably be using it, though. How does that work in a neighbor’s house?
It won’t show you using it when a neighbour visits your town
After getting all the spells and I did use some life points the barn owl is available for me but costs 15 life points !!!!!! I don’t have enough now to get it 😦

The Owl costs 15 LP to buy which I find ridiculously expensive after having spent LP to finish in time. And the next ‘special item’ (Self-mopping broom or something) also has a time limit again, too. I’m starting to think it’s not worth it at all…

I have a dilemma. I have the podium however I can’t click on it to have a sim teenager nor adult to complete the action what can I do to fix this.
Can they access the podium? if blue footprints appear then you need to rotate it so they can get to the front of it
I just wanted to say that the prize for completing the broomstick flying hobby in time (also 7 days) is so lame. So after trying so hard and playing the game a lot lately, trying to get as many lp as I could by cooking so I’ll be abble to finish the hobby in time (the shortest option in 4 hours 30 minutes and only 1 sim can do the hobby for the first time) I finnaly finished today and guess what the magic mop costs 888.888 simoleons. Really EA? I’m so disappointed! So guys don’t try too hard on this one, the prize is so expensive it may take me months to actually buy it as I already need 350.000 for the snow park and some more for the high school and whatever comes next …if I even want the stupid mop anymore, I’m not too anxious to spent so much money on it even if it’s only sim money it will take a while to get that amount.
The restaurant was very expensive also, having to unlock each area with as much money (or close anyway) as the restaurant. But now I’m really annoyed!

Would you recommend doing the Quick Spell- 2 hours 30 minutes or the Spell Casting Session- 8 hours 30 minutes to complete this hobby collection?
The 8 hour 30 option will level you up quicker so I would use that to get to the next level, once you are on a level I would do the 2hour 30 option to get all pieces for that level
I am at level 5 and and will do the 8.5 hour session (overnight) and I still get stupid Tasteless Apple!!! So I follow up with the 2.5 hour session and again…….a stupid level 1 item!! UGH!!! I guess the only real solution is to throw LP’s at it!

I really wanted that pet owl, once i got it found that he’s just like the parrots, nothing special to do with it but have conversations…..I wish that we could at least have it sit on our sims arms or Something, you know?

I have wasted so many LP’ s on this, and was as diligent as I could be but I’m still missing the last “eye”. So disappointed here. With just over an hour left to complete I guess I won’t be getting the owl. Luck was with those of you who got all twelve pieces!

I enjoyed the fashion designer hobby challenge to unlock the hairstyles, with 10 sims doing the 10 min options I thought it was hilarious! But this time with only one Sim at a time doing 2.5 hour spells at a time, I’m just so frustrated. I’ve even been checking it during the night to try to finish on time but I get endless strange toadstools /rant

Hello! I know it doesn’t have to do with the last post, but I am kind of desperate… I have 19 Sims, and I am on level 32, and everything was fine, I have recently completed the Life Dreams and Legacies Quest and now my Sims can age. So, the matter is: One of my sims has all of her need full, but she seems tired. She was the first sim I ever created, and I wonder if this has something to do with herself aging – although other Sims have aged just as much and are still normal. Anyway, I don’t know what’s going on, I’ve tried coffee, sleeping and even the singing salmon, but she still acts tired. If you could please help me, that would be great! Please, help me!

I find it very annoying that if you don’t finish in time, you can’t get the bar owl at all! I love birds, and bird watching, and barn owls are among some of my birds, so I’m very unhappy that I can’t get it. I would pay for access to it. I don’t know why they don’t have it in with those extra packs, like the extra swimsuit packs and those clothing packs.
