TIME LIMITED HOBBY – TIME: 7 DAYS – TIME LIMITED PRIZE: WIZARD COSTUME PACK
Once you complete the Saved by the Spell Quest the time limit for this hobby will start straight away, to begin this hobby you need to buy the potion brewing cauldron from the promotions r us store or the sorcerous supplies store for S5,000 and place it in one of your sims houses:
I cannot place the cauldron, it says its locked/ limited item, what do I do? You will have this problem if you try and place it from the new items tab, look in your inventory instead to be able to place the potion brewing cauldron in one of your sims houses.
If you complete this hobby in the 7 day time limit you unlock the Wizard Costume Pack for your sims:
When your teen or adult sim first starts this hobby they will only have one option:
- Brew Invisibility Potion- 2 hours 30 minutes
You need to find all 3 different potions to complete the first row in the potion brewing collection to unlock the brew growth potions option, you then need to find those 3 potions to unlock the brew youth potions option and find the 3 youth potions to unlock the final option which is brew levitation potions to find the last three to complete the collection
- Brew Invisibility Potion- 2 hours 30 minutes
- Brew Growth Potion- 3 hours 30 minutes
- Brew Youth Potion- 4 hours 30 minutes
- Brew Levitation Potion- 5 hours 30 minutes
NOTE: once you complete the collection for the first time you can find the potions in any order but you will still need to do each option to find the different potions to complete each row
TIP: only one sim can complete this hobby for the first time as you can only buy one cauldron, but you can send another sim to a neighbours town to complete this hobby (if they have a cauldron) after the first time you can buy 3 cauldrons so 3 sims can complete this hobby

After the time has passed come back and click the exclamation mark above your sims head to find one of the potion brewing collectibles in that row. You still level up in this hobby but the hobby level up percentage isn’t important as the potion brewing collectibles don’t unlock depending on your level, when you finish a row of potion brewing collectibles you will unlock the ability to find the potions in the next row.
The table below shows you the level up reward that your sims will receive when they level up in this hobby:

You won’t find a new collectible each time, you will get repeats, if this happens just keep going, you will find them eventually! If it is still taking too long you can use the lucky spin on the row where you cannot find the item, this will cost LPs, when you click on the LP button it will clear the row and give you a random collectible on that row so you aren’t guaranteed a new item (you will get back any other collectibles you already had in that row) Need to earn some LPs to use the lucky spin?
The completed potion brewing collection is shown below, once you complete the collection you need to click ‘start a new collection’ at the top of the hobby collection screen, this clears the board so you can complete the collection again to earn more rewards (you will only get the option to restart the hobby collection when you have completed the collection):
The first time you complete a row you will unlock a new option to find the next row of potions, further times you will earn XPs when you complete a row in the hobby but to complete the collection you need to find all 12 of the collectibles
If you completed this hobby in the time limit you will unlock the wizard costume pack for toddlers, preteens, teens and adults:
The rewards for completing this collection are the wizards furniture pack, wishing well, door and window, rugs and 3LP:
The first time you complete this hobby you unlock the wizards furniture pack (even if you don’t complete in the time limit) These items can be found in the sorcerous supplies store :

Complete the collection 3 more times to receive more magical based items for your homes:
The second time you complete the collection you unlock the wishing well which can be found in the sorcerous supplies store or the outdoor decorations section for 10LP:
The third time you unlock the cottage door which can be found in the sorcerous supplies store or the doors section for S2,500 and the cottage window which can be found in the sorcerous supplies store or the windows section for S2,500:
The fourth time you will unlock the rugs which are available in two colours and different sizes and can be found in the sorcerous supplies store or the rugs section for S15,000, S10,000 or S7,500:
The green rugs are the same size as the red rugs shown in the picture above
The order you unlock the wishing well, door and window and rugs may vary
From the fifth time onwards each time you complete the collection you will earn 3LP

Arrrggggg. I only JUST finished the infant and toddler hobbies for all the outfits about a week ago. I’m on my fourth set of sims trying to finish off the last two makeup designs at the mall. Oh well, this one is only three sets at least.
I don’t know it I’m the only person having this problem, but has anyone else been having the game constantly crash and cancel actions whenever you’re doing a timed quest, especially on the second floor of the mall? And as soon as I run out of time, the game runs just fine? I’ve had this problem for the past few updates, is this a glitch in my device, the game, or a way for them to get you to pay for extensions?
That is very strange! I don’t know what is causing it as I cannot fix techincal issues but you could contact EA and ask them about this to see if they can sort it out for you
If ever you find the game has crashed and cancelled all your actions, as long as you have saved your game to the cloud since starting the actions, here’s a tip for you (this is for android devices – other devices will be different, but the same principle applies)…
Exit the game
Go to settings then application settings
Find Sims Freeplay, click on Force Stop, then answer Yes to the warning.
Now click on “clear data”
Restart the game, log in, and then choose to download data from the cloud.
Once all the updates are downloaded & applied, your game will be back to where it should be by this point (e.g. if you uploaded data 4 hours ago, 4 hours will have passed in-game).
Yep. Not at the mall, but I have reported the same issue. Finally realized it coincides with them releasing a new update, or even an announcement of a coming special event. Normally, I just get cooking and pay to finish tasks early with the LPs, but it just happened with the spa event… so I lost all the progress on collecting gems. Hurrying THAT costs SPs, and a LOT of them. Not too happy at moment!
These timed events seem to be getting harder and harder to finish on time. I have 27 hours and still have 4 more to get. I keep getting the same ones over and over. Really frustrating
Please help i can’t do any event at the time because of the recent updates that bring glitch to my game! No matter how many times i tapped the “tap to enter” button nothing ever happened! Is’nt the button suppose to trigger the events?? I had asked the same problems to SFP official facebook account many times but they never aswered my comments! Please help i could’nt get any limited-time prizes and i really want those!
Maybe you should just try starting the hobby instead of tapping on it to start?
Getting the last levitation potion drives me crazy! I’ve been brewing for like one hundred times and i still don’t get it.
I’m doing this hobby for the fourth time now.. the first time to unlock the costumes and wizardly home items, the second time i hoped unlocking the wishing well, but i got the rugs instead. The third time i did the hobby for the same hope, unfortunately i unlocked the cottage door and window. And right now i’m doing the hobby for the last time, now i will surely get my hands on that well.
And yes, getting the same things over, over, and over is extremely annoying! I’ve been brewing for like a month!
I think it’s a bummer that we can’t get so many of the cottage items, like the fridge, the bed, the wardrobe, the toilet, the bathroom sink… Maybe EA is saving them so they can make another timed event were we need to do more potion brewing over and over to get those items… *rolls eyes*
Oh, and after you complete the hobby for the first time you can have 3 potion brewing cauldrons per town, which makes it faster to complete the hobby again. Thanks for the tips, your blog is always very helpful.
The potion stand disappeared from my home store.. I looked at the home store after I finished the quest to see everything & it was there.. Went to a different house to buy a few things & it was gone. The same thing happened in my home store with the pink princess toddler bed. I can’t buy it in the home store when I’m at a house, but I can go into the kids store to buy it. Has this ever happened to anybody else?

I only have the invisibility option! The 3 others don’t show up!
You need to find the first 3 on that option before the next option unlocks.
Hi I dunno if I’m doing something wrong but whenever I start the game I seem to be back to attending a dinner party at the park. I did that ages ago, well just a week ago. It happened twice so I learned to upload my recent game then just download it the next time I play. It was so frustrating because I had accomplished a bunch of other goals (on time) when it first happened. I almost lost the unicorn rocking chair AND the ginger bread house AND the wizard’s cottage. I keep uploading my game and the further I go, the longer I have to wait to download my current game. BTW, huge fan.
I think you will need to contact EA about this issue, it sounds like your game isn’t saving properly but I am unable to fix technical issues but hopefully they can help you!
Is the gingerbread bed and other stuff from gingerbread house is no longer available at home store?
You can only get the items in the gingerbread house if you build the house, you can’t buy them separately
I have unlocked all collection in the potion brewing hobby but i still can’t buy potion brewing cauldron more than 3. Anybody know why?

I’ve been trying this one for 2 days now and I only have gotten the invisibility bottle and the camouflage flask. And I only have the option of 2hours 30min for brewing. Is this normal or what, cause I don’t think I’m gonna get this one since I only get those two.
Yes you need to unlock the first three before you unlock another option.
Been stuck on the third option brewing hobby set for 5 days doing it every 4 1/2 hours round the clock and still cannot get the last one. Keep getting the same one over and over and over. Still have all of the last set to go now with no time left to do it. So not fair. Any tips on what I did wrong?
You aren’t doing anything wrong, this hobby takes so long to complete, I used LPs to get it done in the time limit but I have spent months trying to complete it 3 more times to unlock the other times as I am not wasting my LPs on it. All I can suggest it just keep going, you will complete it eventually!
This one seem just as challenging as the Baby’s Hobby Musical Expression and I’ve just unlocked the last infant outfit! Prior to my one year break it took several months on these two hobbies. Now i am done the Musical Expression. The third hobby that also takes awhile is the Finger Painting one. I still have 3 outfits to get, and I do get the same item over and over, but I find it rewarding to see the toddlers and babies in the cute outfits, they look much better than the sleepers/one piece suit. I didn’t complete the quest for the wizard house template, but I did get the outfits. If I were to add the furniture in one of my sims home which set of bathroom items would match? I couldn’t find any bathtubs and sinks that will be ok, maybe the Japanese bath tub? I wish they would include everything in one set.
Yes I think the Japanese ones are going to be the closest match, and I agree they should have more matching items!
I’m having some trouble. So whenever I press the potion brewing cauldron it doesn’t let me have 4 options like on your photo, it only gives me one option which is “brew invisibility potion” and all I’ve been doing is getting the invisibility potion again. Can you help me in any way?
You need to find all 3 invisibility potions before you unlock the next option and so on. The first three rows (9 potions) need to be found before you will have all 4 options
I am so frustrated. I have been doing the potion brewing task for the last 7 days, I have literally spent every waking hour on it & I am one potion away from completing it but I only have 6 hours left so if I don’t get it in my next attempt I lose out on the clothes?! This is so unfair, I am no sick of this game trying to rinse me of all my lp’s and money!!! It is a complete joke. Has anyone else had this problem? And will ever get the chance to get the costumes again? X
This hobby seems to just take forever to complete, I had to use so many LPs to get it done in the time limit the first time around and I have only just completed the hobby 3 more times for the other items- never again!

Hi all your blogs are very helpful but I’ve been doing the potion brewing hobby for 4 days now and I still can’t seem to find the rare one on the first line of potions. It’s really frustrating!

Not sure if it will help anybody. But I was able to start this hobby before starting any of the wizard quests. Like I said, I didn’t even started on the save by the spell quest since I was trying to save up for the sorcerous store. To be honest I didn’t even know if it was a glitch. But what happened was that I went to my neighbors town and found their potion brewing cauldron. Started working on it without initiating any time limit until I get my first hobby icon. Then my promotion r us store had the new item which is the cauldron. After that I did what others had mentioned (one sim working on the hobby at my town with the new cauldron I brought, the other one working on it in my neighbors town). I was lucky enough to not spend any LPs on it and had a day to spare. Hopefully it would help anyone who’s trying to complete this quest in time or even ahead of time like I did. I am currently starting on building my sorcerous store and because of this glitch-like incident, I can have my sims work on save by the spell quest with awesome wizard looks. *PS* thanks the blog owner for helping me get thru all of my quests in time (except one due to game crash >< ) with tremendous amount of useful information. Truly grateful for all the resources. Cheers.

None of my sims will perform the potion brewing, I’ve completed the saved by the bell, got the dragon, they wouldn’t cast spells except through the quest one the quest is complete I bought the items and the refuse
You need to rotate the cauldron so they can access it to use it.
I can’t get the larger flask and I’ve tried forever -_-
Just keep brewing the growth potion, hopefully you will get it soon.
Hi, I want to confirm what is the max level for the monunments that is on the island, there are 4 of them?

I haven’t completed the monuments myself yet but at level 25 you unlock the volcano, but I believe you can still level up after that, although I am not sure what the highest level is, sorry!

No you don’t, you need to complete in the time limit to get the costumes, you will get the other items once you complete the hobby, in the time limit or not.
I have done the spell casting & broom stick flying hobby I completed them both in time, but I can’t find the potion cauldron in the Wizards store or in promotions r us… Am I missing something what should I do?
You need to complete the saved by the spell quest (this is not the same as the book of spells quest) to unlock the potion cauldron.

How do we obtain the secret book/door item? I saw it in one of the architect homes, yet it doesn’t seem to be listed in any of the rewards here.

I’m so glad I found this post! The Potion Brewing hobby takes along time, but I’m still working on getting the furniture with the rugs, well and door. I saw three photos together, they didn’t specify if I’ll get all three. Are they random?
You will get all three but you get one each time at random.
I have all the items from this and the spellbook quest, but i don’t have the Wizards cottage. Is there a way to get that now or will this quest be back so i can try to get the cottage?
Unfortunately if you didn’t complete the quest in the time limit you will not be able to get the wizards cottage.
Anyone know how much your level % goes up for each potion choice? I have gotten all the potions once and I’m working on set #2 but I’m still level 5. Just curious how much each potion contributes to your level-up. I know it doesn’t matter really…
Sorry I don’t add the % increase for hobbies that don’t require you to reach level 6 to complete so I don’t know
I am at Alchemist Assistant and only have two items , camouflage flask and invisibility bottle! I only get these two items every time! At this rate I will never finish. Have you ever heard anything like this?
