Buying Clothes

To buy clothes you can:

    1. Click on the blue symbol in the entrance way to the mall as shown in the image below:

image2.Select the store tab in the wardrobe:

20150121-102954.jpg3.Visit the costume and swim store or hair salon

It says NEW next to clothes you have recently unlocked in the store or brought in the wardrobe

image
I know this is a screenshot of makeup but it works the same as clothes

When you buy a new item it is then available in your wardrobe for as many sims as you want (who are of the same gender and life stage) to use at the same time, instead of having to buy the item for each sim like you previously had to.

  1. I’m sorry, I tried reading all your comments helping the other people, I’ve tried everything you said, but the Burger Bar icon won’t come up. I went upstairs, i clicked on the bench to the left, but nothing happened, so I tried letting the sim ‘rest from shopping’ but still nothing 😦 I did finish the quest in time limit.

  2. I was having a problem with the juice bar, as well. I couldn’t build anything because I kept getting the message that the juice bar was under construction. When I called a Sim to the mall, nothing appeared in the juice bar area, and I didn’t have an up arrow for the second floor. I was getting frustrated and desperate, and here’s what ended up working for me: I sent a Sim to the mall and had him go to the burger bar, then I tapped in the juice bar area. At that time, the green flashing unlocked icon appeared, so I tapped on it, and the juice bar appeared.

I hope this helps other people who are having this problem. I’ve been enjoying this blog, so thank you for keeping it updated!

  3. Thank you so much for your help. I could see you’ve had to repeatedly answer the question about the Juice bar. I eventually clicked on all the benches upstairs to figure it out. Initially I was clicking on the bench on the left side where the Juice bar should be. Others might find it helpful to know it’s the bench upstairs nearest to the bowling alley.

  4. this is really weird but when i was visiting my neighbour’s town, i went into her mall in her town and for some it unlocked all the clothes from all the level one shops, even though i’ve only built one shop so far on the first level…

  5. How do you get 2 sims t sit together at a table? I tried and I can only get one sim a a time to sit and either order a burger or shake for one.

  6. I am really really low on simoleons, and I was wondering where you got all the simoleons to get all the stores. I want to build them too so I can finish tasks, and I have to build the swim centre in order to make my sims preteens, but I don’t have 300,000 simoleons.

    Help?!

    TheBrokeSim

  7. I hope youd be able to finish the second floor soon! Im excited for the sim town cinema! But im still working on the first level still..happy simming!

  8. How do I clean up the 2nd floor of the mall after I got rid of the Sims eating plant ? I have the kids play center help please ?

  9. Hi!
I have 5 or 6 shops allready built in my mall. Recently I was very focused on earning money and automatically pressed NO when another discovery quest popped up. It said something about sunset mall, I didn’t even managed to read, my finger was faster then my brain then :). Now I regret myself and worry about missing a quest forever.
Do you probably have an idea what it was?.. And will it pop up again?
    Thank you!

      • Hi, I had rejected the Pretty Little Planters quest at first, but then I build the escalator(s) and the quest started. The problem is, there’s really no second floor to be found. There’s only white tiles and there ain’t a poster or any other thing I need to see to complete the quest. There’s nothing extra I can build in the mall… Sooo, what to do? I think something might have gone wrong? Please help 🙂

  10. Your blog was really a helpful guide. Your my go to blog whenever I need help playing the sims free play.
You got my two thumbs up. Salute to you doing fantastic job.

  11. Hello! I was wondering, once I unlock stores from the catwalk hobby and build them, are the clothes free in my wardrobe or do I have to still buy them from the store?

    Thank you!!

  12. I haven’t played in a while. I guess I can’t access all my make up and hair colors now until I complete the make up quests. I see them but when I tap, they won’t change. I guess more of comment than question. Just annoyed I had spent sims money and LPs and they are there. However cannot access them. Thanks for all you do!

  13. Hello! I recently bought the Mall and have made it past the cat walking hobby and am able to now buy stores. My friend, who also plays, has santa outfits that she got in the outfits section of the mall directory, but I am missing the outfits category all together from both the Mall and the Costume store. Do you think this is just a glitch within the game or did I miss something? I can get outfits from their wardrobes at home, but I only have a few options there and when I switch to the store mode the outfits category disappears once again. If you could give me some direction on this I would be grateful! Thanks.

  14. Hi
I really love your page. It’s VERY helpful.
I would like to know if you gone post about the styles of time quest?
    Please and Thanks

  15. When I opened the Shoulder Pad store and it shows you the preview with the 2 different kinds of shirts, the skirts, the pants, and the shoes, I got really excited. But when I went to buy the stuff for my sims, only the 1st row of shirts were available. I’m very disappointed that I only received 1 kind of shirt. Any idea on how to get the rest of the stuff? Is it a glitch?

  16. Hello! Is there a way to unlock the INDOOR SKYDIVING CENTER if you don’t complete the quest in time?

Thank you in advance by the way! You seriously rock girl!!

    xoxoxoxo

  17. I’m sure you hear this so often, but please allow me to say it once more..you do an AMAZING job with this blog! You are so thorough and helpful. Thank you for all of your help!

  18. You make playing Freeplay sooo much more fun! Thank you for all your time, organization and insights!! I really would be lost in this game w/out you!

I’m just starting to build my 1st shop in the mall, and I’m wondering if you know if it is possible to delete any of the unappealing, original clothing items from the wardrobe to make more room for the newer clothes that I will be eventually purchasing and my sims will actually be wearing? Thank you very much for your generous help!

  19. My Escalator Can’t Use..I Have Finish My Quest And All First Floor Shop..But I Can’t Go To Second Floor..Because My Escalator Is Not Working..

  20. So every time you buy a new store do all the clothes from the store come free or would you have to buy those clothes? If the clothes do cost, then around how much would a shirt be?

    • Only that item you buy will become free and go into your wardrobe once brought. The price for all clothes varies, you will have to build a store and look in the store section of the wardrobe to see how much individual items will cost.

  21. I’m on lvl 29 and I got the mall discovery quest as soon as the construction completed some levels ago. Now I’m not getting this quest anymore – how can I trigger it again?
(I wanted to do another (the puppy) quest first, so when the mall discovery quest popped up I simply exited the game on my mobile phone. I wanted to do the mall in my own time. )

Apart from this particular question, do yu happen to have any hint for me related to these quite agressively pushed time-limit quests?
I’m starting to lose my patience for the game as it is, I’d rather just played it in my own time and click on the bubble of the available quests whenever I want to…I can’t even open the game for days, and when I finally have15 minutes, suddenly I have 4 days left from a quest I didn’t even want to do yet.
Is it at all possible to build things that always mention finishing the current (forced…) quest as a condition? For example, the Castle on the island is available from several lvls below my current. Since the game always starts a new time-limit quest automatically whenever I finish a quest, it’s just simply not possible to build it…Other getting rid of the game, is there any possibility to stop these forced development quests?

    • All the quests in this post are discovery quests: https://thegirlwhogames.wordpress.com/2015/11/15/the-sims-freeplay-discovery-quests/ which you do not have to do at all, this includes the mall quest, if you built the mall the quest would have begun once you clicked to finish building the mall, this quest should still be in your goal tab for you to do right now, if you didn’t start building the mall you won’t get the quest until you build the mall (the post I linked explains how you start each of the discovery quests)
But if you feel overwhelmed by quests don’t do the discovery quests now, they will still be there once you finish all main quests and want something else to do.

There are timed hobby events that start automatically which are only available for a limited time, again you don’t have to do these but you unlock prizes if you complete them in the time limit, these are usually repeated. You can’t stop these from appearing but if you don’t have the latest version of the game it won’t appear on your game

All the main quests: https://thegirlwhogames.wordpress.com/2014/02/11/the-sims-freeplay-main-quests/ have to be completed in order before you can move onto the next one but you don’t have to complete them in the time limit if you aren’t bothered about the prizes, you can just take your time.

Don’t worry about when it says a quest unlocks at a certain level- you could be on level 50 and still doing the preparing for preteens quest- it really doesn’t matter!

I hope that helps somewhat, just complete things in your own time and hopefully you will enjoy it more

      • Thank you for the helpful reply and also for your kind words – I was nearly at the end of my patience when I wrote this. Now I’ll be a bit more laid-back about the prizes (some of them are not my cup of tea anyway) – so at least I don’t feel like I’m rushed. I think my problem also had to do with my ignorance, thank you for pointing out the Quests section. It’s indeed useful to check which quest belongs to which category, so I could even plan ahead, thus managing my playtime better 🙂 /clicking ‘No’ for building sg that I know would have pulled in a quest right after the building is finished is kinda liberating….Times change 😀 saying ‘no’ to a quest today can feel as liberating as burning their bras must have felt our grannies in their days! D

  22. Any insight as to why I can’t build the last part before the bowling alley on the first floor? I’ve finished the catwalk hobby and have everything cleaned up but it’s still acting like I don’t and won’t let me build. Should I try to contact EA?

  23. Hi I can’t unlock area 3. I have cleaned area 2 and that is checked off. I have also built 5 stores but that requirement is not showing complete. The 5 stores are on both the first and second floor. Should that matter?

Thanks for your blog it’s awesome.

  24. Hello..i need a solution. I’ve built a sunset mall, and i’ve cleared all 1st floor and open all stores..but something weird happened to my sunset mall. My left escalator on 1st floor and right escalator on 2nd floor don’t want to be opened.. there are no a green unlocked key sign on them. I can’t access to the 2nd floor and clear the trash up nor open the stores too.. how can i fix the problem?

  25. Do I need to build all the shops before I can start the makeup hobby? I have 2 stores and the catwalk open on the ground floor. I have no stores on the 2nd floor but I’m able to go up there but it won’t let me unlock the makeup kiosk. 😦

    • You need to unlock the upstairs and complete the pretty little planters quest then clean area 1 of the upstairs and you will then be able to build and clean area 2 which contains the makeup kiosk then you can build that

  26. I hard my lower escalators unlocked And the next day they were blocked off again like they were never unlocked. I had most of the stores unlocked and only one area left on the second d floor to clean. Now since my first floor escalators locked again I can’t continue cleaning. How can I unlock them again?

  27. I’ve been having sims constantly doing the fashion hunter hobby for weeks now, and there is one more “style” that I still need to earn. Is there any tricks to getting a particular one? Perhaps a certian store to start the action at? Or is it all to do with patience? Thank you for your help!

  28. Thank you for all the posts related to the sunset mall it’s been so useful! I’ve not long completed the sunset mall quest and I’ve started to unlock and clean the downstairs areas.. So excited to get round to building the shops once they are unlocked and getting some of those gorgeous new fashion items!

  29. I’ve seen some people with different dresses than what I have! I didn’t get the free dress (the yellow one with the black bits on the bottom for IOS) I’ve also seen other people with dresses I haven’t had😭 Why? People are getting thing I don’t have! This is annoying!

  30. So I started the pretty planters quest and once I built the escalator my burger and juice bar disappeared. Was this supposed to happen I worked really hard for those

  31. Thanks for your great blog! I have a weekly tasks goal to “take a single photo at the mall”- I have tried every option in the photo booth i can find but can’t complete it. Not sure what I’m doing wrong.

    • You’re welcome! The game isn’t recognising when you complete some goals right now- you could contact EA and let them know a goal doesn’t work or you could try skipping with LPs or you could wait for the next update as it will complete the goal for you when you update your game.

  32. Also I was wondering how long does it take to unlock the mall? my friend said its two days or 3 days can you tell me?

  33. Why can’t i go inside the stores in the mall. Nothing is activated when clicking on the entrance… I can buy but only when i chose to change clothes, at home. No fun.

  34. I can’t clean the second floor of the mall by the movie theater. I already have it unlocked because I was able to clean up like 8 messy areas but now none of those exclamation points in the bubbles pop up so I can click on something to clean. I’ve even tried clicking on the messy areas and nothing. What am I doing wrong? Do I have to pay for the stores before I can clean the rest of it up, or what? Please help! thanks!

    • Do you have a sim at the mall to clean the places you click? You don’t need the exclamation mark to appear, you should just be able to click on something to clean it up when you have sims at the mall. There are two different areas on that side of the mall though so it may be that you have only unlocked one of them so far

      • It seems the whole area is unlocked. I thought maybe I needed to unlock the escalator first, then I thought maybe the photo booth. Still nothing. I have like 5 stores I still need to buy so maybe I’ll see after that. There are stores on the other side that still need to be unlocked (not bought, but unlocked) and I can’t unlock them until I clean up the messes, so idk

      • Maybe you need to build the stores first? But I think I cleaned up first when I did it although this was a long time ago so I can’t actually remember now. You could always contact EA if building the stores doesn’t work.

  35. Hi there!!

I had a question… I just got the fashion hunter hobby unlocked but for some odd reason my fourth escalator wont unlock…do i need to progress in that more? Thank you for all your help!! 😊
