The Sims Freeplay- Between the Lines: Tale of Knights Update

Firstly sorry I missed the last update, I was on my honeymoon! This is a fantasy regal themed update including a major (and arguably problematic) change called Season Passes, keep reading for more information.

SEASON PASS

Every update will now have a Season Pass, you may have seen these in other games, basically they are a complete money grab!

There are two passes, Free and Premium, everyone gets access to the free pass but you will need to spend real money if you want to unlock the Premium pass for a chance to earn those items.

Daily tasks have changed again to include tokens as prizes for completing them, these tokens are used to level up on the pass. There are 4 daily tasks for free pass players and 2 extra daily tasks for premium pass players. Daily tasks change every 24 hours.

There are also Season tasks which will be available for the duration of the season pass event or until you complete the task, these are usually longer tasks but you will earn more tokens for completing them.

There are 60 levels in total, each time you level up you will unlock a prize (for the premium pass, you unlock a prize at most levels on the free pass but not all of them)

What do I think?

The prizes in my opinion aren’t even that great, there are a lot of doubles- so the same item in a different colour. Is it worth $9.99? I don’t think so! But the problem is players will feel pressured into buying it every update for fear of missing out.

My main issue with the season pass is that everything else now seems to be an afterthought- the new craft challenge doesn’t even have names for the packed they are just ‘pack 1, pack 2a..’ and the prizes for all events are now mainly community market upgrade items, cupcakes or mystery keys which are useful but I would be more likely to complete an event if they contained some great build or create a sim items- even the items that are available are not interesting. All the good prizes are now behind a paywall and considering it is called the Sims FREEplay it really is not in the spirit of this game. At the moment I am sad that this game is nothing like it used to be, some changes have been needed but others make this game less enjoyable to play.

NEW WOODWORKING HOBBY

On the Fence Woodworking Hobby event (not available yet) starts on 4th September for 7 days, complete the woodworking hobby 7 times to unlock all the prize packs as shown in the image below (post coming soon)

NEW CRAFT CHALLENGE

The On Regal Grounds Craft Challenge (not available yet) will start on 12th September for 10 days, complete to unlock frankly very disappointing regal themed items! (post coming soon)

NEW PREGNANCY PRIZES

Complete the 9 day pregnancy event in the time limit and earn the baby bonus between 5th- 18th September to unlock these prizes:

If you start the 9 day pregnancy event anytime during the time frame you have the chance of earning the maternity items in that pack if you complete the event in the time limit, for example if you start a pregnancy event on the 18th September and complete in the time limit you will earn the items above

You need to have completed the first pregnancy event in the A Bump-y Ride Quest before you can earn the maternity prizes

Returning events?

The Mysterious Masquerade Craft Challenge (not available yet) will be returning on 26th August for 10 days, complete to unlock masquerade themed items and house template

The Mean Curls Hair Hobby Event (not available yet) will be back on 24th September for 7 days, complete the fashion designer hobby to unlock all the hairstyles for your adult sims

The Arthouse Nouveau Craft Challenge (not available yet) will return on 1st October for 10 days, complete to unlock nouveau themed items and house template

Pregnancy Pack 40 will be back- complete the 9 day pregnancy event in the time limit and earn the baby bonus between 2nd-12th October to unlock these prizes:

What else is new?

A small amount of players will see the new build mode they have been working on, it won’t be fully released until they get feedback and fix issues so don’t worry if you don’t see it yet!
