To start this quest and unlock the campgrounds you need to build the campground which can be found behind the community center in sim town. If you complete this quest in the time limit you will unlock sleeping bags, you can still complete this quest once the time is up to open the campgrounds but you won’t get the sleeping bags
You cannot complete this quest at the same time as any other discovery quest
HOW LONG DOES THIS QUEST TAKE TO COMPLETE?
Times may vary depending on the star rating an item has
- Call a sim to the campground
- Introduce yourself to the ranger- 1 minute
- Offer to help the ranger- 5 minutes
- Clean up the garbage- 4 hours 30 minutes
- Clean the garbage bin- 6 hours 30 minutes
- Discuss clues with Clay (the ranger)- 5 minutes
- Solve the rangers puzzle: (the answer is below so you don’t need to search for clues)
ANSWER: Plants- 5 hours 30 minutes
- Investigate the footprints- 11 hours 30 minutes
- Ask Clay about the footprints- 1 minute
- Research wildlife book- 19 hours (bookcase)
- Investigate the trash at home- 5 minutes
- Go to the park
- Examine footprints- 12 hours 30 minutes
- Ask Clay for help- 5 minutes (he should appear at the park)
- Watch world of wonders on TV- 19 hours
- Go to the park
- Solve the tracking puzzle:
ANSWER: BBQ- 4 hours 30 minutes
- Search the BBQ- 4 minutes
- Sleep through alarm (bed)- 10 hours 30 minutes (can be started early)
- Discuss plan with Clay (at the campground)- 15 minutes
- Set the bait:
ANSWER: Plants, Fruits and Nuts- 8 hours 30 minutes (on the X)
- Pet the deer
- Feed the deer- 15 hours 30 minutes
- Pet the deer- 1 minute
- Talk to Clay- 2 hours 30 minutes
- Accept title- 30 seconds
QUEST IS COMPLETE!
Now the quest is complete you can unlock and open the picnic area and clean it to start the Survivalist Hobby, check out My Guide to the Campgrounds post for more information

Where can I find them? In the outdoor furniture section
Cost? S1,500, 12SP, 20SP and 5LP
Is it worth it? Yes! What sim wouldn’t want to sleep outside, Preteens to Seniors can use the sleeping bags. Not sure I will be spending 20SP on a rainbow sleeping bag though!

What do you mean when you say a goal can be started early?
Any goal that you can normally do can be started early because you will have access to it and any goal that you can’t normally do you will have to wait until you get the goal to be able to complete it
The tip with this method is to put the sim doing that action early in a different house that you cannot go to until you get that goal or it will not work

Did you ever get your tents etc built at the campsite? You were struggling last time I checked in here (ages ago …).
The ranger is still hanging around my campsite – is she at yours as well? I can’t find anything else to build.
No because facebook suspended my account so I no longer have neighbours to get social points so I’m not likely ever going to finish building all the tents as one costs SPs

Yes it is possible, I probably used a few to finish longer tasks an hour earlier or so but not many

FYI: I think there is a new version of this quest. 🙂 To solve the (assuming first) puzzle, I currently have three sims at the front gate of the park searching for clues in three spread piles of garbage. I’m on a third round now, with each of the three sims searching for five minutes per round.
The answer to the clue is already in the post so there is no need to search.
I’m curious as to how you got plants. All of my clues indicate everything but plants.
It has been so long since I completed this quest I can’t remember what the clue is but the answer is definitely plants.
Why would I give the wrong answer? That wouldn’t be very helpful!

You will need to finish the quest then the survivalist hobby before you can build the bridge to the other side of the campgrounds

Yes, as long as you complete it, you only need to complete in time to get the prize, it doesn’t stop you unlocking the rest of it.

Hi. I dont have enough sims to do a hobby each. Do you ‘recycle’ the sims? Say, i finished the puppy placemat hobby and got all the items, next is lps. shall I then use him to do new quests and sacrifice his puppy placemat hobby at the highest level? i dont have anyone else doing that hobby, but for now i do not need it.
im just afraid i might need something for a sudden quest etc. i have 5 cooking hobby sim and 4 fashion designer sim, 4 carpentry (because quest needed them) the other hobbies only 1 sim ea. should i recycle those i x use anymore?

I have just completed the quest up to the point where the gate lock is now green and the quest is not showing up as active anymore. I prefer not to start the survivalist hobby until I have some more time to work on it. The hobby hasn’t started and doesn’t show up in the hobby list. Do you think it is safe for me to leave it? Like there’s wouldn’t be some hidden time count down going on in the background would there?

Yes, it is safe for you to leave it for now, until you build the picnic area the hobby will not start as the hobby area is in the picnic area

My Sim just finished watching the TV show for this quest, and I sent her to the park to talk to Ranger Clay (the next step). I tap Clay and she refuses to speak to him. No options come up when I tap him, but she waves her arms and puts up the “no” symbol. I thought maybe it was because she was hungry, sleepy, or otherwise “uninspired,” so I fed her, etc. Still nothing! I’m now convinced this is a glitch in the game…? Have you ever come across this? What do you suggest?
What age is this sim? Try with another adult sim, that may work

Hi!! Im on lvl 37 on a previous update: The Police station. And just recently, they announced that the outdoor event are coming soon. And all the requirements including building the deer spring falls and completing this vacationers guide to the outdoor quest, which I am not done. What should I do now? Can you help me?

Hey! The Outdoors Event allocated me only 3 days, when its second subquest the Vacationer’s Guide is a 7 day event. That’s unfair! If the game had only given me forewarning, I would have opened the camp grounds weeks ago! I demand my time back!
If you started late you won’t get the full time, it will probably be back again though one day as there have been problems with this event this time around.

Thanks! Have you checked everywhere in the park for the tracks? If they still aren’t there try restarting your device and go back to the park, if they still don’t appear you may need to contact EA to see if they can fix this issue for you.

He just stays there, he doesn’t really have a purpose once you complete everything!
