Once you have completed the Multi Story Renovations Quest and DIY Homes: Peaceful Patios Quest you will be able to find Bree again in the park to begin this quest (you will find her 24 hours after you have completed both of those quests) If you complete this quest in the time limit you will unlock the planters and decorative privacy screens, you can still complete this quest once the time limit is up to unlock balconies but you won’t get the planters or screens
You cannot complete this quest at the same time as any other discovery quest
HOW LONG DOES THIS QUEST TAKE TO COMPLETE?
Times may vary depending on the star rating the item has
- Say hello to Bree- 2 minutes (at the park)
- Ask Bree what’s up- 5 minutes
- Watch a DIY homes marathon- 15 hours (on TV)
- Research competitors on a computer- 10 hours
- Go to the DIY home (call the cab on a phone)
- Brainstorm with Bree- 5 hours 30 minutes
- Have 2 sims at the DIY home
- Explain role to another sim- 35 minutes (select interaction between two sims)
- Examine the cameras- 13 hours 30 minutes (select option on one camera at the DIY home)
- Have 2 sims rehearse flirting- 10 minutes (select interaction between two sims)
- Make out on a couch- 16 minutes (using the make out couch in the basement at the DIY home (if won in patio quest you can do this at home) one sim selects wait for partner, the other sim selects make out for 16 minutes
- Have 2 sims waltz together- 21 hours 30 minutes (select option on stereo with two sims)
- Court another sim- 6 hours 30 minutes (select interaction between two sims)
- Kiss another sim- 1 minute (select interaction between two sims)
- Hide behind a bed- 12 minutes (select option on bed)
- Chat with grim- 45 minutes (click on the grim reaper)
- Read the original play- 1 day (DIY home bookshelf) 19 hours if done on a 3 star bookshelf
- Offer grim a new role- 5 minutes (click on the grim reaper)
- Act out the scene with the grim- 12 hours 30 minutes (click on the grim reaper)
- Reshoot kissing scene- 5 minutes (select kiss on another sim)
- Comfort grim- 10 hours 30 minutes (click on the grim reaper)
- Email scenes to the network- 36 minutes
- Build a balcony at home (on a two story house)
To build a balcony, touch and drag anywhere within the highlighted areas
Like building a room, green means you can build, red means that there is something in the way, you can also resize a balcony by dragging the white highlighted edges.
And like building a pool you can join balconies together

How do I start this discovery quest?
Once you have completed the multi story renovations quest and the patio quest you need to wait 24 hours then you can find Bree (the woman in the hard hat) in the park to start this quest
Why can’t I do this discovery quest yet?
You cannot do more than one discovery quest at the same time, if you are currently on another one (the list can be found here) you will not be able to do this one until that one is completed
Can I do discovery quests at the same time as a main quest?
Yes you can
Do I have to do this quest?
If you don’t start the quest you don’t have to do it at all but if you have already started it you need to complete it before you can move on to the next quest
I haven’t started this quest yet, will it still be available when I want to do it?
Yes it will be, you can choose to start it whenever you like
How do I call a cab to the DIY house?
Using a phone
The goal court another sim is stuck, what can I do?
You may need to use an LP to speed up this goal
I selected listen on Grim rather than chat now I can’t cancel this, help!
Force closing the app and leaving it a while before checking back in usually fixes this issue
How much does it cost to build a balcony?
The cheapest is S6000 for 2×1
I had all sims leave the DIY home but it didn’t complete the goal, why?
Try and have all your sims not doing any action, this sometimes makes the game recognise you have completed that goal
What do I get if I complete this quest in the time limit?

What happens if I don’t complete in the time limit, can I still finish this quest?
Yes you have to finish it to unlock the ability to build balconies before you can move onto the next quest
I didn’t complete in the time limit, can I restart the quest?
No, you cannot redo quests
Can I still get the prize if I don’t complete in the time limit?
No, the only way to get the limited time prizes is by completing the quest in the time limit
I don’t like this quest! Can I just skip it?
No, you have to complete this quest before you can move onto the next one now that you have started it, if you don’t start it you don’t have to do it
Some times are slightly different on my game, why is this?
Times may vary depending on the star rating of the item you are using, as the higher star rating an item has the quicker you will complete a goal
Some times are really off/ different goals show for me, why is this?

I saw somewhere on your blog yesterday that simss no longer change last names when moving in. I tried moving sim friends in together and they got the first ones lastname. Is it confirmed that they actually keep their last name on some players games?
Can more than 4 sims live in a house now that you can make 5 levels?
Also when the new update first came my Latin Villa got completely messed up. The pavement in front of the house is gone and nothing can move or be used in the house. The car is parked in the middle of the living rome. I contacted EA a few weeks ago and they said they will fix it and the problem is on their end and not the devices. They also wrote on their website that it will be fixed in the next update. Is everyone having a useless latin villa or just many players?
I tried restarting device, reinstalling game and even trying android instead of ios and the error was still there. I am writing this beause i noticed other people asking about the latin villa 😊

no it doesn’t matter because the goal completes before you click on the bubble

I have finished all the quests and got the balconies and basements and done it well within the time to get the DIY house – Do they let you give it free or should it come up on the choices when building a new house – I can’t find it in the options – Is that because the quest hasn’t finished or have I got it wrong
you get the first one free, it comes up as an option when you build a new house but only on a premium plot
Can you help me please? I am stuck on the basements quest and I just don’t know what to do! I just finished the task of giving food to Bree. My sim finished the task and the game gave me the next task (tell a joke to Bree) but I can’t do it because Bree is stuck eating! My time is running out and there’s no way to skip the task with LPs like with the weekly tasks. I’ve tried everything I can think of. Any suggestion would be appreciated. Love your blog!

Event though I completed the peaceful patios quest, patios don’t appear in the building section… I don’t know why, because I also completed the balconies quest and it’s working normally. What should I do? Is it a glitch?

I’m on the basement of kings quest (so you may not be able to help) and I just fed Bree the coffee and strawberries. It’s now asking me to tell her a joke but she’s still eating even though I’ve finished. I can’t click on her to tell her the joke and I really want to complete it in time to unlock the DIY home. I’ve already tried restarting my device and that did nothing. Is there anything else you could recommend I do?

As of this update, if I try to move food like pizza or quiche around by tapping, the food changes to plates. But if I drag it, the food is fine. Also, I can’t buy the planters/ make out couch from the home store. In fact, I can’t get anything from the home store except the starter kit things, like Adidas or the Dolphins pool things. Would you happen to know why?
Do you mean the online store? You can no longer buy quest prizes in the online store, the only way you can get those prizes is by completing the quests in the time limit

You will just have to keep checking back, she takes a while to appear after the patio quest has been completed
Does talking to the grim reaper make the sims start auto aging? I haven’t done the life dreams and legacies quest and don’t want my sims to auto age.

I changed my balcony tiles with Grey Slate then I added a 2×1 balcony then suddenly my whole balcony became the cheapest one! 😭 I spent so much on those tiles then suddenly sims just took it and replaced it with the cheapest ones

Hello, I got stuck with making my balcony, wanted extend it so put few posts but i couldn’t make any bigger balcony. Any idea what could cause it?
you can only build the balcony inside the yellow lines so you may be trying to go past the lines

My sims got stuck courting at the DIY house/Lovey DOVEY Balcony quest! When I opened the game the drop-down notice said they were done, their buttons were blinking like they were done, and when I tapped on each Sim the thingy (term?) that says how much time left and gives the option of completing the task with LPs said the task was done, but it still wanted 1 LP to complete the task. Has anyone else had this happen?
Closing and restarting the game, restarting my iPad, etc., did not fix it. I gave up and spent an LP to finish the task.

I figured it out- I had sent the second sim to work because he was just sitting around for 10 hours. As soon as I sent a second sim back to the DIY home the timing went back and finished up.

Hi! Has anyone had this problem with the last step of the Balconies quest? For whatever reason, my “Wrap Things up with Bree” task is 4 Days 7 Hours 57 Minutes! I’ve tried it with a new Sim and reset my game and it still is to take that long. Any ideas or help?

Help! I have a weird glitch. When i try to wrap things up with Bree at the end of the quest, it says that it will take 4 days 7 hours and 57 mins, instead of just 15 mins. I’m not going to be able to finish in time with that. Also i tried to close the app and restart my phone, but the glitch is still there. 😦

The timing on each of the tasks are much longer for me?? For example the first was 15 hours and the second task is 10 hours instead of 4? I’m just worried I won’t be able to finish it on time. Just seeing if this is happening for anyone too?

I just did this quest in 6/18/2015. And emailing scenes now takes 41 minutes at diy house and 36 minutes at home.

When it says about waltzing to a stereo, it doesn’t give me an option to wait for a partner. I am in the DIY house, have tried both stereos and made a sim leave then go back.. Any ideas on what to do?
It won’t give you the option, just click waltz and it will say the first sim is waiting and then select it again with the second sim and they will dance together
