Once you have completed the Multi Story Renovations Quest and DIY Homes: Peaceful Patios Quest you will be able to find Bree again in the park to begin this quest (you will find her 24 hours after you have completed both of those quests) If you complete this quest in the time limit you will unlock the planters and decorative privacy screens, you can still complete this quest once the time limit is up to unlock balconies but you won’t get the planters or screens
You cannot complete this quest at the same time as any other discovery quest
HOW LONG DOES THIS QUEST TAKE TO COMPLETE?
Times may vary depending on the star rating the item has
- Say hello to Bree- 2 minutes (at the park)
- Ask Bree what’s up- 5 minutes
- Watch a DIY homes marathon- 15 hours (on TV)
- Research competitors on a computer- 10 hours
- Go to the DIY home (call the cab on a phone)
- Brainstorm with Bree- 5 hours 30 minutes
- Have 2 sims at the DIY home
- Explain role to another sim- 35 minutes (select interaction between two sims)
- Examine the cameras- 13 hours 30 minutes (select option on one camera at the DIY home)
- Have 2 sims rehearse flirting- 10 minutes (select interaction between two sims)
- Make out on a couch- 16 minutes (using the make out couch in the basement at the DIY home (if won in patio quest you can do this at home) one sim selects wait for partner, the other sim selects make out for 16 minutes
- Have 2 sims waltz together- 21 hours 30 minutes (select option on stereo with two sims)
- Court another sim- 6 hours 30 minutes (select interaction between two sims)
- Kiss another sim- 1 minute (select interaction between two sims)
- Hide behind a bed- 12 minutes (select option on bed)
- Chat with grim- 45 minutes (click on the grim reaper)
- Read the original play- 1 day (DIY home bookshelf) 19 hours if done on a 3 star bookshelf

Like building a room, green means you can build, red means that there is something in the way, you can also resize a balcony by dragging the white highlighted edges.

You cannot do more than one discovery quest at the same time, if you are currently on another one (the list can be found here) you will not be able to do this one until that one is completed
Can I do discovery quests at the same time as a main quest?
Yes you can

Force closing the app and leaving it a while before checking back in usually fixes this issue

I was told that they changed this in the latest update?

I just started the patio quest because it said wait 2 days to unlock the next part of the campground and I like having my sims busy working on quests to get caught up because I just stated playing a few months ago and I’m only level 32….I have a quick question though!!! I got to the 3rd task that says watch the DIY marathon on a tv and your blog shows 10 hours and mine is taking 15 hours on a 3 star tv….is this normal or a glitch? Do they change the times if you don’t complete the quests when they first release them as punishment or something? Really bummed as I was hoping to complete this quest fairly quickly so I could get back to the campground quests again! Just curious and if they do change them I thought you might want to know so you can update your info for other players who use your blog and haven’t done this quest yet. Thank you for this website btw….it is a lifesaver and the main reason as to why I have unlocked ALL of the special items in their time limits and made it to level 32 in just under 10 weeks….addicted to this game and your help! 😀
Some people seem to be getting one time and other people seem to be getting another so hopefully everyone will have the same next update and I can fix the times on the post
They don’t change the times as a punishment they just like to change them usually if they think they have been too kind or harsh

I accidentally called the sim to his own place and it doesnt count as “leaving” the DIY home. I cannot go back there by calling a cab (not an option anymore) What should I do?

That should count as leaving, as long as all other sims have left too
You might want to try cancelling all your sims actions, that sometimes recognises the goal as being complete when you do that.

Actually, I am beginning to think my game is glitching, so I wouldn’t update the post unless others confirm changes to the times as well 😊.
I changed all those times from the ones you posted, do you have the latest update?
So the times I have been getting are what they used to be? I updated the game to the campground update a week or so ago. Not sure what is happening with it at the moment as examine the cameras came up as 13 1/2 hours. So I let it run overnight, but when I checked this morning less than 10 1/2 hours later, it had completed… It’s really odd!
To be honest I have no idea what is going on, there must be a glitch were some people are getting the old times and others are getting new times- I do hope it is fixed soon because being told I’m wrong constantly is starting to get boring.
There seems to be a glitch in ‘examine the camera’ task because I put my Sim to do this task and came back 2 hours later and it seemed as though the task automatically cancelled, so I had to put my sim at task again and this time just to be double sure I put 2 sims to do this task. I came back 10min later and the task had completed. Strange but glad nevertheless.
How much does a balcony cost?
cheapest is S6000 for 2×1
Anybody, who had a problem with the final quest (4 days to complete), just simply reinstall your game. But first, make sure that you back it up to the cloud before reinstall it.
(I have windows phone version and update the game every time it show up, but still have problem. So I hope it help.)

There should be a tab for the tiles once you finish the quest, if not I don’t know why sorry. You may need to contact EA to see if they can fix this issue for you.

The next objective says “chat with grim” and it says that it’s odd that grim isn’t chasing my sims so I have a chat with grim. There is a figure that appeared in the diy home which can walk through walls and I assume it is grim but when I click this character there’s a speech bubble above my sims with a red circle with a line through it meaning i can’t interact. When I send my sims home this character follow. HELP!!!
You need to send a sim who isn’t a senior sim, it sounds like your senior sim is nearly at the end of their life so that grim reaper is the one that passes them on when they reach the end of their life, not the grim you need to complete the task

make sure you don’t have a senior sim at the diy house and try again

I have built a second floor on my house and I haven’t built rooms everywhere because I want to build a balcony on top of the first floor, beside the second floor. The problem is that there are outside walls that I can’t remove so that I can build a balcony there. Do you know how to remove outside walls?
Without a picture it is hard to understand what you mean, you can email me a screenshot if you like but an exterior wall shouldn’t stop you being able to build a balcony
My Bree is in the park not the community center will that change my quest?
no it does say in the post that Bree should appear in the park.
I’m on the waltz portion of the quest, but no matter which stereo I click on, or which sim I use, it is not giving me the option to “wait for partner” like it says to do…am I missing something that I should be doing first?

Yep, I sure was! But I guess it was a glitch. I just sent them home, exited/restarted the game, and poof! All fixed. LoL

Right after “court another sim” the sim on the balcony is stuck. I can’t switch to her, move her, whistle her away, nothing. Do you have any idea to how I can fix this? Does anybody else have a problem with the “court another sim” task? The game doesn’t seem to recognize that I completed this goal and it’s just stuck there (I can move my sim though unlike to the previous asker)
Did they finish the task and it didn’t recognise it? Or is there still time left? If there is still time left you may have to skip with LPs, if it didn’t recognise it unfortunately you will probably have to do it again.
I had a problem with this part of the quest! I started the action much earlier today, and when I came back to my game, it was still showing the couple has 6 hrs 28 mins left! (The action is for 6 hrs 30 mins.) I just quit and restarted the action. I hope it works this time, or I will never finish in time.
Well now the courting action has finished and it shows the next step (kiss) but one of the courting Sims is stuck like someone above me said. He shows no action on the Sims menu -just a timeline that isn’t moving!
Does the action bar appear when you click on that sim? If it does you may need to skip with an LP to complete this

She should have been in the park when you clicked to start the quest to do this task, did you definitely click on her to start the quest?

Try making all your sims busy by either planting or going to work, that usually fixes this issue, if this doesn’t work you may need to contact EA to see if they can fix this problem for you.

I am stuck at the having two sims make out on the couch. I have one sim wait for the other, but whenever I attempt to have the other sim do so as well, (the same wait for sim option appears for the other sim), the sim shows two feet icons and will not join in. Am i doing something incorrectly?
Are you definitely using two adult sims? Have you tried making the other sim try first? Have you tried clicking on the sim on the couch instead of the couch to get the second option? Have you tried restarting your device and using two different sims?
By the way kindness goes a long way, I do have over 200 comments to reply to right now and everyone else just waits patiently. Sorry but this is my hobby, not my job so I don’t have the time to reply to all comments at once.

Hi, I have a question.
I’m doing this quest and yesterday I left two of my sims doing the “court another sim”. Today one of those sim is stuck, but there is not a bar above his head. In the list with all my sims there is an empy bar under his name, like when they go sit somewhere on their own and you can’t control them for a second. I can’t seem to be able to do anything, can you help me.

I tried it, I followed your post, I finished the patios first then the multi story quest. Before finishing the quests I approached Bree and she told me to finish all of it and meet her in the park, I did it. After building the second floor I immediately go to park but I saw Bree left! She literally walked away before calling my sim to the park 😦 I really wanted the balcony and basement feature 😥 I hope you understand me.

I’m doing this quest now and the Examine Camera part was only like 5 minutes, weird, I wish I could be more helpful and tell you the exact time but I was just watching him go to all the cameras trying to guess which one he’d examine next and POOF it was done, definately less then 10 minutes though. Sorry can’t be exact. You do amazing work on here and I appreciate it immensely.
