NANNY KNOWS BEST QUEST – XYLOPHONE – BABY SIMS ONLY – PRIZES: PLAYMAT, OUTFITS AND 3LP
TIME LIMITED HOBBY – TIME: 7 DAYS – TIME LIMITED PRIZE: INFANT BOUNCER
Once you complete the Nanny Knows Best Quest the time limit for this hobby will start straight away, to begin this hobby you need to buy a xylophone from the promotions r us store for S2,000 and place it in one of your sims houses:
I cannot place the xylophone, it says its locked/ limited item, what do I do? You will have this problem if you try and place it from the new items tab, look in your inventory instead to be able to place the xylophone in one of your sims houses.
If you complete this hobby in the time limit you will unlock the infant bouncer:
Once placed in your house your baby sim needs to click on it and select the option:
- Play Xylophone- 3 hours 10 minutes
NOTE: the first time you complete this hobby you can only buy one xylophone so only one baby can complete this hobby, after that you can buy 3 xylophones so 3 babies can complete this hobby at one time
After the time has passed come back and click the exclamation mark above your sims head to find one of the musical expression collectibles. Every time your sim finishes playing the xylophone their musical expression hobby skill level up percentage will increase, once they reach 100% they will level up, there are 6 levels. You need to reach level 6 to be able to unlock all of the musical expression collectibles, once unlocked you will be able to find them.

The next table shows you for each level what musical expression collectibles you unlock (so you can then find those ones too) and also the level up reward that a second and future sims will receive when they level up in this hobby:

NOTE: only the first sim completing this hobby needs to get to level 6 to unlock all the collectibles, future sims will be able to find any collectible even if they are only on level 1 in this hobby
You won’t find a new collectible each time, you will get repeats, if this happens just keep going, you will find them eventually! If it is still taking too long you can use the lucky spin on the row where you cannot find the item, this will cost LPs, when you click on the LP button it will clear the row and give you a random collectible on that row so you aren’t guaranteed a new item (you will get back any other collectibles you already had in that row) Need to earn some LPs to use the lucky spin?
The completed musical expression collection is shown below, once you complete the collection you need to click ‘start a new collection’ at the top of the hobby collection screen, this clears the board so you can complete the collection again to earn more rewards (you will only get the option to restart the hobby collection when you have completed the collection):
You will earn XPs when you complete a row in the hobby but to complete the collection you need to find all 12 of the collectibles
If you complete this hobby in the time limit you will unlock the Infant Bouncer, which can be found in the infant section and costs S4000. An adult has to put a baby in it then they can bounce for 1 minute or 15 minutes:
The rewards for completing this collection are the play mat, outfits and 3LP:
- The first time you complete this collection you unlock the play mat (even if you don’t complete in the time limit) this costs S5500 and can be found in the infant section. The option is play with toys for 10 minutes and an adult can join in play session:
- The second to the seventh time each time you complete this collection you unlock a new outfit for your female and male baby sims:
- From the eighth time onwards each time you complete the collection you earn 3LP
Time Limited Hobby Events– the musical expression hobby appears in these events, to complete these you have to complete the musical expression hobby a certain amount of times during the time limit to unlock all of the prizes, you can find a list of time limited hobby events here. If you want to complete these time limited hobby events then have one sim get to level six in this hobby before the next event starts to be in with the chance of completing it!

Thank you for this blog, it’s invaluable. I’m not busting a gut, trying to get this done in time, mainly because I don’t intend to have that many babies in my town! That being said if I didn’t have to waste so many LP’s on lucky spins, I’d still do it. I’ll let you all know if I manage it without!

I used lp to finish this quest because I was worried about finishing because I will be out of town. When I use lp to finish a hobby I find it best to use lucky spin especially if not leveled up in hobby. I find I use less lp because there are only 3 possible options to win but when speeding up a task using lp especially in a hobby there are many possible outcomes. I know you don’t recommend it in your blog and I have tried both ways when I want to finish a hobby fast. These are my personal results but I use less lp when doing lucky spins unless it is a quick hobby such as under 2 hours. Love your blog! Thank you for having this to help us!
After wasting 18LPs getting the same piece I definitely didn’t have the same luck using lucky spin on this one!

I’m currently doing this quest, it’s kicking my butt. I have less than 3 days to finish and I still need three songs. I keep having to use LP’s. It seems all limited time prizes are getting very hard to get now.
Is it worth using LPs on this bouncer? Just don’t want to waste my cooking LPs on something that doesn’t do much.

Is there a black circle around the plates? If so, there are loads of plates in that pile so when you clean up one it doesn’t look like it has done anything but it has, you just have to keep cleaning them and the black circle will start to fade then disappear completely when only a few plates are left

I used a ridiculous amount of LP’s to get it done within the time limit also. Even if you keep the infant going on it 24/7 the only option is the 6H30M task which would only allow you 25 tries to complete the collection. I used probably 8-9 tries on the last item alone. It’s going to take forever to complete it 6 more times to get the outfits. On the other hand, it is nice to have the infants able to do things other than just laying in the crib though.
If you complete this hobby in the limited time, do you get the baby bouncer and play mat in the same time? Or do you have to start a new collection to get the play mat?

I don’t want to be negative but this baby hobby is nothing short of challenging. I keep getting the same thing. Have a day in a half left to unlock 6 more. Sorry to complain, I know you are not EA, but this quest is a bit frustrating. It keeps popping up the same thing. I have not used any LPs to rush the quest but maybe need to or maybe I need to say forgettaboutit! Sorry just venting. I can only imagine how many LPs you had to use to finish. Is there any way to take care of the infants bathroom needs?
You cannot do anything about this, the baby will go in their diaper when they need to, you just have to change their diaper afterwards to increase their hygiene.

I am trying to get the baby to crawl. It’s currently in the crib, I select an adult sim and the option to let baby crawl isn’t there. I’m trying to do the music hobby for the baby
you need to select pick up sim when they are in the crib, then you can click on the baby when the adult is holding them and select let them crawl
Can you buy more than one xylophone and have more than one baby working on the quest? Or do it in a neighbors town? Can babies even travel to neighboring towns?
You can once you complete the hobby for the first time but you can’t do it in a neighbours town as babies cannot go to a neighbours
Sorry, but on the part where you can restart the collection six different times to get more outfits, is that under the same time limit with the bouncer and play mat? Or does it, hopefully, restart to seven days?

Dammit, I have 15 minutes left and my sims have been cooking non-stop all day to get lps to level my baby up and I have ONE SONG LEFT and the (un)lucky roll just kept giving me repeats and now I’m all out of lps. No chance I’ll complete the cooking hobby four times in the time I have left. Ugh.

I have gotten the same thing the last 5 times, so it is a given I will not be getting the bouncer. Don’t have the lp to use. They have made this hobby impossible to get without spending money which I can’t afford.

Hi! I am having a hard time earn lps for the Musical Expression task. Every time I get lps I have to use them up the second I get them. I so far I was only able to get one picture on the xylophone and I have 5 days left. Do you know what happens exactly if you can’t finish it and is it going to effect anything with the baby or things you can buy for them.

The only thing is you won’t get the baby bouncer
I’ve been using LPs like mad but probably still won’t finish on time. I have 6 cooks making LPs continually and I am speeding the babies up. I say babies because three have aged out to toddlers in this process. Then the new one has to start again. It’s just a dumb process.

These xylophone quests pretty much require the babies (3) to be paused with platinum orbs in order to keep them from aging before you finish.
My baby will be ready to age into a toddler before I complete this quest 😩
I was able to finish this hobby it was very frustrating having to use so many lp. I must have used around 150 to 200 lp to finish it with a day to spare but I think that EA needs to change something m
How do you start the quest as I’ve completed the many knows best one about a week ago and I bought the instrument needed to start the quest but when I started it it only said that I could win the Matt and I would love the bouncer as I’m so close to finishing all the songs. I wanted the bouncer but was about to travel out of town and I knew there would be times i wouldnt be able to log in and play. So before going on my trip the quest popped up and i hit the back button at the top left of the box as if not to accept it so that it would start. I figured i would start it when I return. When I returned i saw that I had only 5 days left. Reading all of these posts about how the time is tight even with a full 7 days I know i wont finish it within 5 days without using massive lp which I dont have. Is there a proper way to not start a timed quest until you are ready to? Alot of times they seem to get thrown at me regardless if I am ready to start it or not.
The ‘not now’ button is incredibly misleading because it actually starts as soon as you finish the quest if you press not now or yes.
There is no way to not start a timed hobby, unless you stay on the last goal of the quest until you are ready (but that means missing out on the quest prize)

This quest is simply IMPOSSIBLE to finish! My baby keeps playing the same songs over and over and over. Even when I use LPS, I still get the same songs. I’m sooooo frustrated with this quest it’s unbelievable !!!
Is there anyway I can still get the baby jumper? I REALLY want it, but I didn’t get the last song until ALMOST A WEEK AFTER the quest ended! That is so unfair!

Thanks for the blog, it has been so helpful in completing quests. Does the infant you use to start this quest at the beginning have to complete it, my infant is aging fast. Also, in the life dreams quest after you complete should you give all your remaining sims life dreams? I did and that seems all I get done is trying to complete their dreams in time instead of hobbies and jobs. I think this update changed the game completely. Thanks again for all your helpful hints.

No the infant doesn’t have to be the same
Its a good idea to give all your sims life dreams once you complete the quest, once they complete their life dream for that stage they will still usually have plenty of time to complete hobbies, or you can just have some sims complete hobbies while the others do life dreams

no sorry, completing the hobby in the time limit is the only way to get the bouncer
How do you keep up with hobbies while all your sims are working towards life orbs? I need your expert advice! I’ve been neglecting hobbies while I go through many generations of sims.
You can have some sims who don’t complete life dreams and just work on hobbies or there is usually plenty of time to complete hobbies once your sim has completed their life dreams for that stage

I have 2 babies working on the hobby, both aged before reaching level 6 thus I cannot complete it to get a new outfit (unless I use LPs). I started the hobby with a new baby but since they’re on level 1, they won’t be able to unlock the level 6 songs. Please help.

Thanks! No you aren’t the only one- I completed it on my game that I haven’t complete the life dreams quest on otherwise I don’t think I would have managed it without several LPs!
I used LPs to reverse the age of the baby back to the beginning of the baby stage.
