To begin this discovery quest you need to build the private island, you can find the island next to the bridge to the mysterious island. Completing this quest unlocks the private island which is a new house lot. If you complete this quest in the time limit you will unlock the private island villa lot to build on the island. You can still complete this quest once the time limit is up to unlock the island and build a house on it you just won’t unlock the villa
You cannot complete this quest at the same time as any other discovery quest
The cost of the private island varies depending on how many houses you have already built

Is it worth it? The island villa has a platform that you cannot build yourself but if you don’t manage to complete in the time don’t worry as you can still build a house on the private island using the private island empty lot
TIP: if you want to build your own but finished in the time limit, build the island villa anyway and store all the furniture as most of the villa items cost SPs and LPs

Frequently Asked Questions about the Private Island Villa:
- What can I build on the Private Island? You can only build the empty private island lot or private island villa
- I want to move the platform underneath the house or extend it! The platform cannot be deleted, extended or put in the inventory, you also cannot move it. To be able to edit something similar build the empty private island and add a balcony instead- this can be edited as shown in my video here
- Can I put different stairs on the platform? The stairs that come with the villa are the only ones that are compatible with the platform, they can be moved, placed in your inventory but cannot be sold.
- I cannot find the villa stairs after storing them, where are they? You can find them in the exterior stairs tab, check out my adding exterior stairs post if you are unsure how to place them
- Can my sims walk on the platform? To walk on the platform there must be a balcony connected to the stairs. If you have not completed the DIY Homes: Lovey-Dovey Balconies Quest you will not be able to edit or delete the existing balcony.
- Can I edit the platform? No the platform cannot be edited.
- Can I build a basement on the island? Yes you can!
- Can I build a multi story house? Yes you can, click here to see my two story villa I created
- Can I put the platform in my inventory and use it on another home lot? No, it cannot be stored
- Can I build a patio? Yes you can!
- Can I move any of the items on the island such as the shower or towels? No you cannot as these are outside of the grid.
- Does the private island have access to a car? No- I think we should be able to have a boat! That would be so cool!

Yes, it is one of the villa items you unlock when you complete the quest, even if you don’t complete in the time limit.
Hello! I am on level 15, on Need for Steed, and the Grooving Guru quest. My first infant I got with the 2.5 sims quest, Piper, is still an infant. I want to complete the Nanny Knows Best quest so I don’t have to buy another infant to do so! I am halfway through Grooving Guru, but I don’t know if I should build this island first or do Nanny Knows Best. Do we only have a certain amount of time to do this discovery quest or is it staying? I want your opinion. Plus, any sims freeplay tips for Need for Steed, Grooving Guru, or this one? Love your blog by the way, and woohoo first comment! Sorry if this was long!!
It is completely up to you what order you complete discovery quests in, I personally wouldn’t complete any until I finish most of the main quests because you probably don’t have a lot of money right now and its best to use it to buy things to complete the main quests in time rather than focus on discovery quests, also if you leave them until you have completed the main quests you will have something to do once they are complete. Discovery quests stay around until you complete them so there is no rush. Although if you really want to complete one now I would suggest you do Nanny Knows Best over the new one as the island will cost you a lot and you have a restaurant to save up for!

It is completely up to you which discovery quest you do next, you don’t have to do most of them in any order! I would suggest you look at a few of the posts, see the timings for tasks and then you can try and decide which one best fits your schedule right now: https://thegirlwhogames.blog/2015/11/15/the-sims-freeplay-discovery-quests/ as some of them don’t require you to build something before you start, you just take to a sim in the park

You won’t miss out on it, you can click on the island itself to start the quest, if you don’t have enough money yet then there is no rush to start it, this quest will be available when you are ready.
How come mine says I have to spend 700,000 but in your picture it’s only 350,000? I really want to do this but don’t have that much right now 😦 does everyone have different amounts?

Wow, it cost me $900 I couldn’t afford to buy up every single thing so I was really selective and the more lots I buy the cost goes up.

Its hard to say how much it will cost you as it varies depending on how many other places you have already built, if you aren’t currently completing a discovery quest you can click on the island and see how much it will cost you- you don’t have to build it straight away.

Hi! Thank you so much for your blog! It’s extremely helpful. I have a question regarding this quest. Is it a live event quest? As in, will it expire after 8 days (EA website says it’s an 8 day event starting Jan 30)? I’m still in the middle of the balcony quest and am wondering if I need to use LP to speed it up so that I don’t miss this new quest. If it’s still available after 8 days, will the prize villa still be available too? Thanks!
This is a discovery quest so it will be available until you complete it so there is no rush.

The time limit starts when you click on the island to finish the construction. This is a discovery quest so there is no rush to complete it.
I read that there are certain dates for certain parts. What happens if I don’t build the island within those dates?
This is a discovery quest, it will be available until you complete it so there is no rush.
What do you by doing the quest back to back
Complete a goal then do the next one as soon as you finish that one, working out how long a quest takes is just adding up how long each task takes to complete so if you don’t do them as soon as the previous one is complete it would take you longer and you may not complete in the time limit.

How did you design your own house?
I built the empty private island instead of the island villa.
Ran into a problem and hope you can shed some light on it. I finished the quest and built the island villa, but it was so small I wanted to expand it. I went into expansion mode and the white lines were there, but it wouldn’t let me expand it in any way. I ended up deleting all the rooms and started from scratch making a two story dwelling, but I was unable to place the 4-paneled glass doors on an exterior wall. It would only place on an interior wall. I was able to place the windows on the exterior, just not this or any other door for that matter. After spending a lot of time and over $1M simoleans, I gave up in frustration and demolished the whole thing, which I now regret because I now have to spend over $4M simoleans to get the empty lot. Any thoughts as to why the door problem occurred.

If you deleted the balcony from the platform it won’t allow you to place the doors on the exterior wall, you would need to build a balcony on the platform around your house and then you can add the door, this is because sims cannot walk on the platform without having a balcony on it. If you don’t want the hassle of the platform you might want to build the empty private island instead

Today is Wednesday. At midnight last night it said I had three more days to finish the quest. Does that mean I’ll have all day Saturday to finish as well?
The time limit starts as soon as you begin the quest so it will probably end sometime on Saturday but it depends when you started it.
I ended up realizing that it would end at 11:00 AM on Saturday morning. I would have made it with three hours to spare, but I used a free time extension last night just in case I couldn’t get to the game first thing this morning, which actually did end up happening, so I’m glad I extended it.
Anyways, I ended up completing the quest within the time limit, and the villa is in the process of being built, so I’m happy.
I’m anxious to miss out on this Villa, since I NEVER was able to get a housing template as a prize and I’m really trying to get this AWFULLY long quest done with. It feels like the 9, 10, 15hr actions make it take forever and I have 2 days left. After I finished the giving the cupcake to the sim, I had to go straight into a 15hour(the second time) action. Thankfully I had 77 LPs and I only used 7, once the timer was down to one hour. Now I need my sims to cook again so it my LP don’t drop down.
It seems like EA really make sure people can’t finish early, so they add in all these long actions since there is no way for someone to start the quest and to miss a day or two. The Previous Toddler quest I was able to finish a day early. The time is tight for this one.
All quests are possible to complete in the time limit, if you did all the goals back to back this one would take you 6 days 6 hours 25 minutes so there is time to not be on constantly but you would need to play everyday.
I finished the Event and I decided on the free villa template.
I just finished the quest and it looks like all the unlocked items are simolean only now instead of costing sp and lp. For example the bed is 85000 and the double sinks are 13000.

Hi I completed in time and got the island and villa… but I now see that I either have to create a new sim or relocate a sim to get on it. Did I miss a step? I thought this was going to be a place I could send my sims for a romantic get away but it seems not.

Have you built the house on the island yet? Once the quest is over you have to build the house before you can add sims to it.
Hi, yes I built the house and the option is there to either add a new sim or relocate a sim. Since I already have a 28 sims, I didn’t want to make anymore.
I was hoping that the island would have been a destination like The Tropical Romance Island. But it appears it is not the case.

How do I Access the basement once I add it to the island villa
You need to add stairs in the basement, you will probably have to have the stairs come out on the sand as you won’t be able to access them under the villa due to the platform.
Hello, I completed the quest in time so I could build the villa for free, but I don’t like the empty space at ground level. Do you think one or two rooms could be added after eliminating most of the support columns? Otherwise I could as well start building from scratch like you did, even if it is more expensive. Thanks in advance for your help!
The problem is you cannot delete or change the platform so if you don’t like how it looks it would be easier to just build the empty private island and build your own.

Have you built the house on the island yet? Once the quest is over you have to build the house before you can add sims to it.
yes, I have already built the free island villa. I have even tried to relocate sims but can’t seem to do that either 😦
Are you currently at your sim count for that level? If so the option to add a new sim will be greyed out but you will be able to relocate a sim, just make sure they aren’t doing anything first and then they won’t be greyed out too.

I bought the Villa and relocated one of my cars there. I wasn’t sure where it would be parked, so I went to look. I could ‘t find it, until I did: it was in the ocean!!

Hi. Thanks for another great quest guide! If you opt to build the premade house, do you know if you can you still edit it as normal neighbourhood houses: modify rooms, add floors/basement, etc., or are those options only available when building your own design? I’m assuming some redesign is possible because other premades can be modified but just wondering if you know for sure.
You’re welcome! You can edit it but you cannot edit or delete the platform the house is sitting on.
I’m not sure if this has been asked, but I made another floor and I literally just want to move everything up as is to that new floor, BUT the windows can’t be behind a chair or side table (like they are when you build the house). Do you know how to glitch it?
Unfortunately when editing it isn’t possible to put these windows behind other objects right now, it may be a glitch as we had the same issue before with some windows we unlocked so if it is a major issue for you you may want to contact the makers to see if they can sort this out otherwise you might need to rearrange the room slightly.

Does the house reappear? Is it just showing the platform? This is meant to happen as it is showing you the ground floor when you go downstairs to the shower.

It was either available for a limited time in a mystery box that you earn by completing weekly tasks and earning keys or from the online store for real money

I can’t pass from go to the park. Every time I go nothing comes out. How can I start this because it seems to be stuck on that task but is not letting me do it. I build the island villa already.

My friends have a lot of villa items that I didn’t unlock, but neither do you have them. Do you know which quest is needed for them? I know that I am missing one bed, and few pink villa couches.
There was a mystery box (one that you unlock with keys by completing weekly tasks) a while ago that contained these villa items, that mystery box is no longer available.

The correct part is yes you have to, but you don’t have a choice, the quest auto begins once the island is built, 5he game give you no choice.

The sims free play is pushing ads every minute or two no matter what you are doing in the game… I found that so annoying I uninstalled it, and never playing again, it’s bad enough ea does other annoying things to players who play their games, but this was the final straw. Good way to end a game… total boycott.
I’ve finished the quest and took the pre-built option. I wanted to make it bigger and wound up deleting the 2 rooms. Now I can not add any rooms to the platform and when you look at the island from the map it has a huge hole in the platform where the 2 rooms were. Please help.
On top of the platform is a balcony so you might be trying to build a room on a part that the balcony is still on, once you complete the lovey-dovey balcony quest if you haven’t already you will be able to delete the balcony and add rooms to the platform
I have finished the balcony quest. But I still can’t add anything to the platform. No rooms, no balcony, no patio. I literally can’t do anything to it.

I’ve figured out how to solve this problem!! I had the same thing and it was driving me nuts, I even deleted and reinstalled the app with no luck. So, if you build a room on the sand floor, just a small one, you can then go to the roof level (would be second floor) and then the space where the room can be built on the platform is on that level. It’s weird that it doesn’t let you go up the floor without a ground level structure but heyhoe. Hope this is making sense.

I only wanted to let those who bought the private island before starting this quest know that you may lose the island and beach house after completing the quest. It may be because I didn’t finish the quest in time, who knows. But it is a possibility because I did. However, I messaged Firemonkey, I believe that’s the name, and they were nice enough to at least give me what the island was worth in simoleons back. I suggest avoiding buying the private island before this quest if you can. I’m not really sure why the island was available to buy beforehand, but this is just for those who got mad like I did lol just message them! It’s better than losing it all.
You have to buy the island to be able to begin this quest, if you don’t complete in the time limit you will get the empty island and not the private island house template.
