The Sims Freeplay- A Christmas Chill Quest

THIS QUEST IS NOW OVER

Christmas is back in simtown- update your game now to unlock new quests and Christmas items! (I will be creating a post on what is new in this update as soon as possible)
This is the first of two quests this Christmas, you have to complete this quest in 3 days to unlock all the new winter clothes for yours sims!

First set- complete this set of goals to unlock winter clothes for adults and teens

Call the mayor on a phone- 48 seconds

Print flyers using a computer- 4 minutes

Place flyers on lamp post in park- 9 hours 30 minutes (only need to place flyers on one lamp post)

Have a strong hot coffee- 48 seconds

Bake an apple pie (using a stove, select baking)- 40 minutes (can be started early)
Fall asleep in a bath- 2 hours 20 minutes (can be started early)
Open the package (by mailbox)- 12 seconds

Wait for part 2 (next part starts at midnight) NOTE: you can skip this for 10 LPs to start on the next set of goals early. You will not get this goal if you are behind in completing the goals, it will go straight to the next goal.

Second set- complete this set of goals to unlock winter hats and clothes for adults and teens

Call the mayor on a phone- 4 minutes
Send out carol advertising (computer)- 2 hours 50 minutes

Call sims about carolling (phone)- 4 hours

Set up camera in the park (on the x)- 8 hours 15 minutes

Have 3 sims at the park
Use camera in the park (completes as soon you start the task)

Carol for the camera- 5 hours 15 minutes (you need two sims to select this option on the camera- if you are speeding up with LPs you will need to use LPs on both sims to complete the task)

Upload carol video (computer)- 12 minutes

Open the package- 12 seconds
Wait for part 3 (next part starts at midnight) NOTE: you can skip this for 10 LPs to start on the next set of goals early. You will not get this goal if you are behind in completing the goals, it will go straight to the next goal.

Third set– complete this set of goals to unlock winter clothes for adults, teens and preteens

Have 3 sims in the park
Have 3 sims clapping- 1 minute (podium)

Have 3 sims carolling- 6 hours 15 minutes (podium)

Listen to the mayor-5 minutes (podium)

Murmur doubtfully- 15 minutes (select interaction between two sims)

Have 2 sims brainstorm together- 5 minutes (select interaction between two sims)

Play loud rock music on a guitar in the park- 45 minutes

Place a flare on the X- 1 minute

Turn on the flare (click on flare and select turn on)

Unpack the locomotive- 2 hours 30 minutes

LIFE DREAMS AND LEGACIES QUEST – PET PARK: DOG AGILITY AREA – TEEN AND ADULT SIMS – PRIZES: DOG AGILITY OBSTACLES AND 5LP

Once you complete the Life Dreams and Legacies Quest you will be able to use orbs to build the Pet Park, once the pet park is built you will also need to use orbs to build the Dog Agility Area (for more information please click here) Once the dog agility area is built a teen or adult can complete this hobby along with a dog

NOTE: before you can complete this hobby you need a dog in your town (not a puppy) and they need to be wearing a collar that you can buy from the pet salon. Once they are wearing a collar when you click on them you will get the option to send to pet park:

Once one of your sims and the dog are at the pet park you can click on one of the dog agility obstacles and select:

Enter Dog Agility Hobby- 6 hours 2 minutes

When you first start you will have access to the jump, as you complete each row you will unlock a new item at the pet park but you can click on any piece of equipment to unlock any of the medals. For example, to get a tunnel related medal you do not need to click on the tunnel, any piece of equipment can get you a tunnel medal once you have completed the previous row and unlocked the tunnel.
After the time has passed come back and click the exclamation mark above your sims head to find one of the dog agility medal collectibles. Every time your sims enters the dog agility hobby their dog agility hobby level up percentage will increase, once you reach 100% you will level up, there are 6 levels. You need to reach level 6 to be able to unlock all of the dog agility medal collectibles, once unlocked you will be able to find them.

NOTE: click on the dog at the pet park to get the option to send them home once you complete the hobby

The table below shows the level up percentage:

For example you would need to enter 2 times to reach level 2 from level 1

This hobby is slightly different from the rest as you unlock the next piece of equipment when you complete a row but there is still only one option and using a different piece of equipment doesn’t find you a medal in a certain row, this table shows you the medals you need to collect to unlock the obstacles:

NOTE: only the first sim completing this hobby needs to get to level 6 to unlock all the collectibles, future sims will be able to find any collectible even if they are only on level 1 in this hobby

You won’t find a new collectible each time, you will get repeats, if this happens just keep going, you will find them eventually! If it is still taking too long you can use the lucky spin on the row where you cannot find the item, this will cost LPs, when you click on the LP button it will clear the row and give you a random collectible on that row so you aren’t guaranteed a new item (you will get back any other collectibles you already had in that row) Need to earn some LPs to use the lucky spin?

The completed dog agility collection is shown below, once you complete the collection you need to click ‘start a new collection’ at the top of the hobby collection screen, this clears the board so you can complete the collection again to earn more rewards (you will only get the option to restart the hobby collection when you have completed the collection):

The first time you complete a row you will unlock an obstacle in the dog agility area at the pet park, further times you will earn XPs when you complete a row in the hobby but to complete the collection you need to find all 15 of the collectibles

The rewards for completing this collection are the obstacles and 5LP:

The first time you complete this hobby collection you unlock the dog agility obstacles to complete the hobby at home, you can find it in the pet section of buy mode:

Tyre Jump- S30,000
Jump- S45,000
Teeter Board- 15LP
A-Frame- 25LP
Tunnel- 15SP

From the second time onwards each time you complete the collection you will earn 5LP

SAVED BY THE SPELL QUEST – POTION BREWING CAULDRON – TEEN AND ADULT SIMS – PRIZES: WIZARDS FURNITURE PACK, WISHING WELL, RUGS, DOOR AND WINDOW AND 3LP

TIME LIMITED HOBBY – TIME: 7 DAYS – TIME LIMITED PRIZE: WIZARD COSTUME PACK

Once you complete the Saved by the Spell Quest the time limit for this hobby will start straight away, to begin this hobby you need to buy the potion brewing cauldron from the promotions r us store or the sorcerous supplies store for S5,000 and place it in one of your sims houses:

I cannot place the cauldron, it says its locked/ limited item, what do I do? You will have this problem if you try and place it from the new items tab, look in your inventory instead to be able to place the potion brewing cauldron in one of your sims houses.

If you complete this hobby in the 7 day time limit you unlock the Wizard Costume Pack for your sims:

When your teen or adult sim first starts this hobby they will only have one option:

Brew Invisibility Potion- 2 hours 30 minutes

You need to find all 3 different potions to complete the first row in the potion brewing collection to unlock the brew growth potions option, you then need to find those 3 potions to unlock the brew youth potions option and find the 3 youth potions to unlock the final option which is brew levitation potions to find the last three to complete the collection

Brew Invisibility Potion- 2 hours 30 minutes
Brew Growth Potion- 3 hours 30 minutes
Brew Youth Potion- 4 hours 30 minutes
Brew Levitation Potion- 5 hours 30 minutes

NOTE: once you complete the collection for the first time you can find the potions in any order but you will still need to do each option to find the different potions to complete each row

TIP: only one sim can complete this hobby for the first time as you can only buy one cauldron, but you can send another sim to a neighbours town to complete this hobby (if they have a cauldron) after the first time you can buy 3 cauldrons so 3 sims can complete this hobby

After the time has passed come back and click the exclamation mark above your sims head to find one of the potion brewing collectibles in that row. You still level up in this hobby but the hobby level up percentage isn’t important as the potion brewing collectibles don’t unlock depending on your level, when you finish a row of potion brewing collectibles you will unlock the ability to find the potions in the next row.

The completed potion brewing collection is shown below, once you complete the collection you need to click ‘start a new collection’ at the top of the hobby collection screen, this clears the board so you can complete the collection again to earn more rewards (you will only get the option to restart the hobby collection when you have completed the collection):

The first time you complete a row you will unlock a new option to find the next row of potions, further times you will earn XPs when you complete a row in the hobby but to complete the collection you need to find all 12 of the collectibles

If you completed this hobby in the time limit you will unlock the wizard costume pack for toddlers, preteens, teens and adults:

The rewards for completing this collection are the wizards furniture pack, wishing well, door and window, rugs and 3LP:

The second time you complete the collection you unlock the wishing well which can be found in the sorcerous supplies store or the outdoor decorations section for 10LP:

The third time you unlock the cottage door which can be found in the sorcerous supplies store or the doors section for S2,500 and the cottage window which can be found in the sorcerous supplies store or the windows section for S2,500:

The fourth time you will unlock the rugs which are available in two colours and different sizes and can be found in the sorcerous supplies store or the rugs section for S15,000, S10,000 or S7,500:

The green rugs are the same size as the red rugs shown in the picture above

The order you unlock the wishing well, door and window and rugs may vary

From the fifth time onwards each time you complete the collection you will earn 3LP

The Sims Freeplay- Adding Basements

Once you complete the Basement of Kings Quest you can build a basement under your houses, this post explains how to add a basement and all the ways you can customise it!

NOTE: you will not be able to resize a basement or add more rooms until you have completed the quest

Building a basement

Building a basement is a lot like building a room except it is underneath your existing house. You can build the basement anywhere inside the grid area (unless there is a pool above) even if it is larger than the rooms above.

The second orange tab in the house section of the home store is basements. Hold and drag anywhere on the ground to build a basement. Green means the room can be built.

The white dotted lines show you were the rooms are above (the blue line is the outline of the pool):

Drag the white highlighted edged to resize.

What is the cheapest basement? A 2×1 basement will cost S8,000

Adding Stairs

You need to add stairs to the basement to be able to access it. The red areas as shown in the picture below show you were items are on the floor above so the stairs cannot be placed there:

If you want to place stairs somewhere you can’t, you have three options:

1. Move items from the floor above so you have room
2. Choose smaller stairs or an elevator that may fit
3. Build another room in a clearer area (outside the house space so you can access the basement from outside)

Decorating the basement

You do this the same way you would decorate a new room

Deleting a Basement

While on the basement tab click on the basement room you wish to delete and select the red simoleon symbol to sell it. You can delete basement rooms even if there are rooms on the floor above.

LEVEL UNLOCKS: 8 UNLOCKS: potion brewing hobby TIME LIMIT: 7 days PRIZE: wizards cottage

Once you have completed the Book of Spells Quest you will be able to find the wizard in the park to start this quest. If you complete this quest in the time limit you will unlock the wizards cottage, you can still complete this quest once the time is up to unlock the potion brewing hobby you just won’t get the cottage

You cannot complete this quest at the same time as any other discovery quest

HOW LONG DOES THIS QUEST TAKE TO COMPLETE?

Times may vary depending on the star rating an item has

Talk to the Wizard- 1 minute

Examine the crystal ball (next to the wizard in the park)

Ask the Wizard- 1 minute (in park)
Read real world magic- 1 hour (bookshelf)

Invite a sim to a dinner party- 3 hours 15 minutes (select interaction between two sims)

Send two sims to the park
Explain about imagination- 5 hours 15 minutes (select interaction between two sims)

Have two sims sit at the dinner table- 5 minutes (in park) GLITCH- if your sims are unable to sit at the table, leave the park and go back, your sims need to sit down quickly before the other characters can.

Check in with the Wizard- 1 hour 15 minutes
Dream of magic- 19 hours (bed)
Tell a sim about dream- 5 minutes (select interaction between two sims)
Dance wildly in the rain- 12 hours 15 minutes (select interaction between two sims)

Have two sims kiss in the rain- 1 minute (select interaction between two sims)
Talk to the Wizard- 15 minutes (at a sims house)

Talk to the werewolf- 5 hours 15 minutes (park)

Think about the werewolf- 19 hours (seat)

Record a video apology- 5 minutes (werewolf)

Upload video apology- 4 hours (computer)

Show the dates response- 12 hours 15 minutes (werewolf)
High five the werewolf- 3 seconds

Check in with the wizard- 3 hours 15 minutes (park)

Think about the origin of magic- 19 hours (seat)
Tell the wizard about real magic- 12 hours 15 minutes (park)
Use the crystal ball again
High five the wizard- 1 second (wizards cottage)

Leave the Wizards cottage (using the simtracker)

QUEST IS COMPLETE!

You can now complete the Potion Brewing hobby by buying the potion brewing cauldron from promotions r us or the sorcerous supplies store. The time limit for the hobby begins as soon as you complete this quest

Prize: Wizards Cottage

Cost? First one should be free after that they cost simoleons (amount depends on how many other houses you already have built)

Is it worth it? Definitely! The cottage is really nice, it can be built on standard or premium residence, the premium residence has a library at the end of the garden!

How do I start this discovery quest?
Firstly you need to complete the book of spells quest then you can find the wizard in the park to start this quest

Can I do discovery quests at the same time as a main quest?
Yes you can

Why can’t I do this discovery quest yet?
You cannot do more than one discovery quest at the same time, if you are currently on another one (the list can be found here) you will not be able to do this one until that one is completed

Do I have to do this quest?
If you don’t start the quest you don’t have to do it at all but if you have already started it you need to complete it before you can move on to the next quest

I haven’t started this quest yet, will it still be available when I want to do it?
Yes it will be, you can choose to start it whenever you like

I can’t get two sims to sit at the dinner table, everyone sits down before them!
There is a glitch on this goal, leave the park and go back, your sims need to sit down quickly before the other characters can

Why can’t I record a video apology to the werewolf?
You need to click on him and select the option

I can’t find the wizard to high five him, where is he?
All you can do is look around simtown for him, when you find him he should go back to his cottage

What do I get if I complete this quest in the time limit?
The wizards cottage

Where can I find the wizards cottage?
You can find it on the list of premade houses to build on an empty house lot

Why is it always daytime at the wizards cottage?
It just is, it isn’t a major problem though!

What happens if I don’t complete in the time limit, can I still finish this quest?
Yes you have to finish it to unlock the potion brewing hobby before you can move onto the next quest

I didn’t complete in the time limit, can I restart the quest?
No, you cannot redo quests

Can I still get the prize if I don’t complete in the time limit?
No, the only way to get the limited time prizes is by completing the quest in the time limit

I don’t like this quest! Can I just skip it?
No, you have to complete this quest before you can move onto the next one now that you have started it, if you don’t start it you don’t have to do it

Some times are slightly different on my game, why is this?
Times may vary depending on the star rating of the item you are using, as the higher star rating an item has the quicker you will complete a goal

Some times are really off/ different goals show for me, why is this?
This will be because the quest has been updated recently, I try my best to keep these posts up to date but it is difficult as I cannot redo every quest each time the game is updated. If you notice any changes please let me know so I can update the post

This quest unlocks the potion brewing hobby, does the time limit start straight away once I have completed this quest?
Yes, the time limit for the hobby starts straight away once this quest is complete, you can click no when the hobby pop up appears but this does not stop the timer going down
