     • No, you can only be VIP if you spend real money.

2. This was a really excellent and thorough explanation on how the VIP points work. Thank you! I doubt if I’ll ever use them though. Your tip on having sims do cooking and other hobbies has given me more than enough LP’s and cash to work with so I can finish up all of the quests and timed hobbies within the time limit. Then I just earn them all back before the next quest. 😀

3. Are there any tips for how to get to higher VIP levels more cheaply or is it the same cost no matter how you do it? For example £320 in total to get to VIP level 10 (2000 points = 4x £80 packs which give you 500 VIP points each)

   • I worked out if you brought simoleons or LPs for £10.99 27 times it would only cost you £296.73 to reach VIP 10 (the four packs of £79.99 is the most expensive way)

5. Help! I managed to level up to Level 5 on the VIP perks (205 points) but my additional sims are not available! Im still stuck at only 34…and its not allowing me to add any more as it still says my Sim town capacity is 34. Im currently on game level 54. What do I do to get my additional sims?

6. Great post, very helpful!
   I think the VIP perks are very cool, it’s a way to reward people who financially support the game without taking anything from those who can’t afford to pay real money. I feared they could change the times for the cooking hobby once it became so popular, to force people buy LPs, but instead they came up with something entirely new and I think this is great. Kudos for EA and thanks for you for this post.

7. Thank for all the work you do on this blog!!! It’s so helpful!!! I was hoping you could answer a question about time extensions. I have VIP perks and have time extensions available. But I’m wondering if I use them if they replenish over time. Or do I just have the amount available and once I use them they’re gone? Thanks!!!!!!

8. Hi Weightlessmagic, I heard about the new Pet onesie Quest coming tomorrow, and I only have six of the collectables on the puppy hobby do I need to finish it? I might not be able to by tomorrow.
   I see 12 collectables. I will try the 1 hour 15 minute one tonight to see if I can get a new collectable, but so far it isn’t as challenging as the Spell casting one.

9. Do you know if past purchases can transfer over to this new point system? I have spent hundreds on the game and it would be very annoying if they are basically telling me to spend more money because they came up with a new concept. Do you thing I could redeem them or something?

      • You will get 10 free hobby spins in total (1 for each vip level that they unlock at) but they can only be used once.

18. I have VIP 6 that means I can have 4 kids right? ( 2 + 4 = 6). But it wont let me add another baby. Does it matter if i only have a one story house or is my game glitched?

    • I think you can only have one additional sim per house from VIP 5 and onwards, each VIP level past that does not allow you to add a new sim to your houses each time you level up

    • It says there, it doesn’t decrease, the more money you spend the more VIP perks you unlock.

    • That boat was part of an event that was around a while ago but that is not available to complete right now, they will probably bring it back again one day though but you will have to wait for that next event before you will be able to build it.

24. If I’m being really honest, this is another way to get us to spend money, by giving us rewards. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a nice thought and addition, but, really? At least they don’t force us to spend money like they did last time. However, almost everything I go on will have at least one thing about a VIP perk.

25. Just want to say thanks. Every time I want an answer or help with sims free play I can try 10 sites but yours always gives me the correct and most detailed answer. However I would like to know what currency your working with. I’ve seen pound symbols and dollar signs. I need to know so I can convert it to Australian dollar. Anyway thanks again

    • You’re welcome! Not all the pictures in this post are mine as I asked players to send me pictures of their VIP perks as they are at higher VIP levels than me, I live in England so my currency is British Pound.

26. How do you get rid of the vip perks? My sim finish work early at the police station and it said now in order for my sim to go to work again they need vip perks. Please help

    • Just wait for the next day, you can only send your sim once a day without VIP perks, wait and you will be able to send them again.

      • I’m glad it helps, I think you may lose your vip level if you reset your game but I don’t know for sure as I wouldn’t dream of resetting my game!

27. I am trying to go to work as a police officer in te newest update. Is saying I have to buy a VIP package to earn points to be a police. Is this true? Will I have to spend real money to be a cop or can I play without any VIP points?

    • No you don’t need to. If you are VIP you can send your sims to work twice a day (VIP level 1), upgrade more than one workstation at a time (VIP level 7) and use the mega spin plant (VIP level 2) but you do not need to: https://thegirlwhogames.wordpress.com/2016/06/14/the-sims-freeplay-police-update/

      • You need to wait until the next day, you can only send your sims to work once a day unless you are VIP then you can send them twice, did you read the post I linked? It does say this.

28. Hi! I just have a quick question: for example, if you bought something that gave you 60 vip points, will that give you level 3 or only level 1 and 2? (15+30) I mean, is the points needed a total or is it like if you have 30 vip points do you get level 2, or just level 1 for 15 and have 15/30 for level 2?     • You would be on level 3 as the points are all added on so if you had 30 VIP points you would get level 2, you wouldn’t need 15 more to reach level 2.

29. Hey there, Great blog!

    This page is not completely up-to-date. For example you now get the ”extra shift” as a VIP 1.

    I just bought some things for the first time to get to the VIP 1 perk. I’m very disappointed because it still costs 20LP to use this extra shift. Not such a great bonus as I thought it would be!

    I’m interested if this is also the case for some other perks like the ”collect all” button. Apparently it was to easy to think you get these for free when you have paid to get the VIP-status…..

    • Yes I’m very aware this post isn’t completely up to date, this is because I haven’t had the time to update this yet (these new perks were only added in the last update)

    • It’s worse than that: you pay, they go back to work, and whatever progress they’d made toward a badge is gone. They start over on helping people – right back to 0/15 or 0/25. I wasted 60 LPs to discover this. I was not happy.

        I m on level 30,have had 23 sims snd 15 houses.I got the limit sims reached.I just bought the VIP 5,so that can add the more sims,as said on VIP 5 bonus,additional 1 sim per house to unlock the additional more sims.But it didn’t work,I am still not able to add the sims,also my sims even could not have the double shift on working a day as usual on VIP 3 or VIP4.
        What’s wrong?

      • You have reached the sim count for that level, you will need to level up to be able to add another sim to your town, once you have space for another sim you will be able to have 5 in a house.
        It still costs LPs to do a double shift and this is only available for the police and movie star careers.

31. I just want to upgrade to the VIP level where I am able to send all my sims to work at once, do you know what level that is?

32. Can’t upgrade, buy more points, try the new Market Town, or even get on Cloud because in the last three days, the load screen appears and then says, “Unfortunately, Freeplay has stopped.” Phone is a Galaxy 6 and works just fine otherwise. What to do now? Thanks.

    • You don’t, if you don’t want to be VIP then you just don’t buy anything from the online store.

35. I just got to VIP10 but I never got my additional sim per town. My town still says 34/34 and I cannot add any new sims. The option is grayed out on all open houses. What am I doing wrong?

36. Good morning, I’ve been seeing packages/gifts in front of one of my houses this morning. I “open gift” for 12 seconds, and nothing happens, but there is another new gift there! What are these?

    • This must be a glitch as usually a present only appears for the sims freeplays birthday in December: https://thegirlwhogames.blog/2016/12/15/happy-5th-birthday-the-sims-freeplay/
      You could either contact EA about this glitch or just leave the gift unopened.

37. Hello I have VIP 6 but it won’t let me add another baby to my house. I currently have five, two parents and three kids. I was able to add the third child with VIP 5. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks!

    • You cannot add another sim to that house as you added your extra child at VIP 5, you don’t get another one at VIP 6, you need to reach VIP 14 to be able to add 2 extra sims to a house.

39. When you say one additional sim per house, does that mean I can create 17 new sims if I have 17 houses? So for VIP levels 6,7,8,9, and 10 I can create 17 new sims ~each~ time I upgrade? And then for levels 11, 12, 13, 14, and 15, its a certain amount per town.
    Or does this mean that I’ll have the same amount of sims, but I can house 5 rather than 4 in a single house? So I won’t get the option to create more sims, I’ll just have to keep leveling up? and then for levels 11-15, that’s when I’ll be able to create more sims?

    • It means you can have the same number of sims but 5 in a house instead of 4 and yes additional sim per town means your sim count increases so you can add another sim.

40. First off, your blog is amazing! Thank you so much for all that you do. Answering all of our questions too, you must have the patience of a saint 😜!

    I have a question about VIP 15–reading through the perks, it says 2 additional sims per house. On lower levels before it, it says either 2 additional sims per house or 1 additional sim per house. My question is: are they just re-listing the perks you have already gotten from lower VIP levels, or is it actually another additional 2? Does that make sense? I’m sorry, I’m trying to explain as best I can ☺. Maybe a better way to ask it is what is the absolute maximum number of sims you can have living in a house once you reach VIP level 15? Because if each VIP level after the first few adds an additional sim, by the time you get to 15, it would seem that you should have about a dozen sims able to live in one house, which wouldn’t make sense. I hope you can understand my confusing explanation!💖

      Sorry for the confusion, I have just updated the post for you and included the words NEW and UPDATED next to the perks that are new or the perks that are available previously but increase as the VIP level increases
      So the 2 additional sims perk isn’t new or updated, it is the same perk as you get at VIP 14 so once you reach the final VIP level you can still only have 2 extra sims in your town

41. So now the only way to get VIP points is to spend real money on a game the specifically states that the game is free to play right in the games name. They should change the name to Sims, the Somewhat Freeplay.

    I would first like to say thank you for help, you are my go to for just about everything! I would have been lost without you and your tips, advice and sheer love of The Sims. I can’t believe it but I actually found something that you either have never had a problem with or I am just beyond help! ☹️I bet it’s the latter! So the Girl who Games my question is this, when you level up to where you receive a Social flower seed ( and it does say free seed ) where in the world is it? When I get to the plant it is required that I spend LP’s for a spin. I have been on a level that this seed was available but just let it go, I have now moved up a level and now I feel like just letting it go is foolish. I do thank you in advance for taking away any time to answer my question.

48. One question. I already have 2 sims on police job, but I can’t put a thirx one on duty without the game forcing me to this vip perks to purchase, which I won’t do. What can I do? Honestly I’m still getting used to this game.

    • Only two sims can work at the police station at one time, all other sims will need to work offsite or you will need to send them to work once the others have finished their shift.     • Are you asking about the sims mobile? As you can have a lot more sims in the sims freeplay! There is no way to play with more than 4 sims at a time in the sims mobile, even if you wanted to spend money there isn’t an option.
