VIP perks are unlocked when you buy items from the online store with real money, anything you buy with real money now gets converted into points (the more money you spend the more points you earn) and the more VIP points you have, the higher level VIP you will be, earning you more perks!
You can see on the bar at the top of your screen how many VIP points you have.
What are the levels and what are the perks for each?
If it says NEW next to a perk it is new so you will get it when you reach that VIP level
If it says UPDATE you already have access to the perk but you will earn more when you reach that VIP level

Each Perk Explained:
Additional Sim per Town- the maximum amount of sims you can have in your town will increase to 35 if you reach VIP 10!
Daily Social Point Flower Seed- From VIP 8 you will receive a free social point flower seed each day (usually costs 5LPs) to earn social points (the flower can be found on a garden patch)
Daily Monument Resource- Each day from VIP 7 you will get 1 or 2 (depending on your VIP level) random resources to help you complete a monument on the mysterious island e.g. gold or pickaxe
Collect All Revenue Button- a new button will be added to the town map from VIP 6 to allow you to collect all revenue from buildings at once!
Additional Sim per House- you will be able to have 5 sims living in each house at one time instead of 4 once you reach VIP 5.
Time Extension- if you run out of time on a quest or hobby you can use a time extension once unlocked from VIP 3 to add more time (each time extension adds 24 hours to a quest or hobby) NOTE: you can only use each time extension once and they don’t replenish so choose wisely!
Daily Rainbow Cake Slices- rainbow cake keeps a sim inspired (their needs won’t decrease) for 24 hours
The image below shows how to use a rainbow cake:
- Click on the sparkly sim button
- Select the cake button
- The Rainbow Cakes of Inspiration pop up will appear and at the top it tells you how many rainbow cakes you have available. Click on the green add button on the sim you want to inspire
- Click the green button at the bottom of the pop up to confirm the inspiration
Your sim will now have a green sparkly background on the simtracker
If you added cake to the wrong person at step 3 you can press the red minus button as seen in step 4 but once you click confirm inspiration you cannot undo this and you won’t be able to use the cake again.
Bigger Rainbow Cake per Sim- this means that you can give a sim more than one rainbow cake at one time so they will stay inspired for longer (you can have up to 7 at the moment so they can be inspired for a whole week!)
Free Hobby Lucky Spins- use these to do a lucky spin on a hobby collection of your choice, instead of costing LPs you can do it for free
Bonus Social Points in Store Packs- when you buy social points from the online store you will get a % free with every VIP level. Underneath how many social points you are paying for it will show you how many you get for your bonus:
Bonus Lifestyle Points in Store Packs- when you buy lifestyle points from the online store you will get a % free with every VIP level. Underneath how many lifestyle points you are paying for it will show you how many you get for your bonus:
Bonus Simoleons in Store Packs- when you buy simoleons from the online store you will get a % free with every VIP level. Underneath how many simoleons you are paying for it will show you how many you get for your bonus:
Daily Simoleons Allowance Bonus- you will get a % increase in the daily allowance you collect from the mailbox everyday
Exclusive Clothes- can be found in the wardrobe for free:
Red Carpet Couture- available for adults (can be found in the outfits, tops, pants and shoes sections of the wardrobe)
Hip Hop Threads- available for toddlers and adults
City Smart Styles- available for preteens, teens and adults
Profession Perks- these perks are for the police career, read this post for more information on the police update
Double Shift- from VIP level 1 your sims can work 2 shifts instead of 1 in 24 hours at the police station but it will cost you 20LPs to send for the second shift!
Mega Spin- this perk unlocks the VIP only mega spin in the resource exchange at the police station from VIP level 2, this gives you better resources than the normal spin but again it will cost you LPs- 15LPs!
Simultaneous Constructions- this perk unlocks from VIP level 7 and unlocks the ability to build or upgrade more than one workstation at the police station at a time, without this perk you can only build or upgrade one at a time and have to wait for one to finish before constructing the next.
Chance of Extra Profession Resources- this unlocks from VIP level 11 and gives you the chance of getting extra resources from the sims you help while working at the police station.
Thank you to everyone who sent me pictures to add to this post! If anyone else has any pictures (or more information) of VIP perks that aren’t already in the post feel free to send them to me and I will add them!
Thanks for reading!

Hy! Can you please help me with something at sim free play?
December 12, 2015 at 11:06 am
what do you need help with?
June 25, 2016 at 10:33 pm
Hi ,I want to be a vip 4 but I don’t want to waste money on buying things that get you vip things. Is there any way how to be vip 4 without wasting cash $ ?
June 26, 2016 at 2:07 pm
No, you can only be VIP if you spend real money.
December 12, 2015 at 4:44 pm
This was a really excellent and thorough explanation on how the VIP points work. Thank you! I doubt if I’ll ever use them though. Your tip on having sims do cooking and other hobbies has given me more than enough LP’s and cash to work with so I can finish up all of the quests and timed hobbies within the time limit. Then I just earn them all back before the next quest. 😀
December 19, 2015 at 4:31 pm
You’re very welcome 🙂
December 16, 2017 at 3:36 am
Hey, can you help me on how to get VIP points? I don’t have any and I can’t purchase things at the store.
December 18, 2017 at 11:18 am
To get VIP points you need to purchase items in the online store with real money.
December 15, 2015 at 11:38 pm
Are there any tips for how to get to higher VIP levels more cheaply or is it the same cost no matter how you do it? For example £320 in total to get to VIP level 10 (2000 points = 4x £80 packs which give you 500 VIP points each)
December 23, 2015 at 3:52 pm
I worked out if you brought simoleons or LPs for £10.99 27 times it would only cost you £296.73 to reach VIP 10 (the four packs of £79.99 is the most expensive way)

Help! I managed to level up to Level 5 on the VIP perks (205 points) but my additional sims are not available! Im still stuck at only 34…and its not allowing me to add any more as it still says my Sim town capacity is 34. Im currently on game level 54. What do I do to get my additional sims?
Please and thank you!
December 27, 2015 at 12:07 pm
you will need to contact EA about this issue unfortunately as I am unable to fix technical issues.
December 28, 2015 at 11:38 am
Great post, very helpful!
I think the VIP perks are very cool, it’s a way to reward people who financially support the game without taking anything from those who can’t afford to pay real money. I feared they could change the times for the cooking hobby once it became so popular, to force people buy LPs, but instead they came up with something entirely new and I think this is great. Kudos for EA and thanks for you for this post.
December 30, 2015 at 3:29 pm
Thank for all the work you do on this blog!!! It’s so helpful!!! I was hoping you could answer a question about time extensions. I have VIP perks and have time extensions available. But I’m wondering if I use them if they replenish over time. Or do I just have the amount available and once I use them they’re gone? Thanks!!!!!!
January 7, 2016 at 7:27 pm
You’re welcome! No they don’t replenish, you only get to use them once unfortunately!

Hi Weightlessmagic, I heard about the new Pet onesie Quest coming tomorrow, and I only have six of the collectables on the puppy hobby do I need to finish it? I might not be able to by tomorrow.
I see 12 collectables. I will try the 1 hour 15 minute one tonight to see if I can get a new collectable, but so far it isn’t as challenging as the Spell casting one.
January 19, 2016 at 9:14 pm
No, the event involves the Internet Kitten hobby, not the puppy pals one so you don’t need to rush to finish that one right now: https://thegirlwhogames.wordpress.com/2016/01/19/the-sims-freeplay-animal-onesie-event/
February 12, 2016 at 6:01 pm
Do you know if past purchases can transfer over to this new point system? I have spent hundreds on the game and it would be very annoying if they are basically telling me to spend more money because they came up with a new concept. Do you thing I could redeem them or something?
February 12, 2016 at 8:45 pm
No sorry they don’t, you could always contact them about it though
February 15, 2016 at 3:46 am
Can I use time extensions on the tropical romance island quest?
February 15, 2016 at 9:06 am
I’m not sure, I would assume you could though
February 15, 2016 at 10:38 pm
You should be on Sims payroll! I get my answers from your very informative page. Thank you for what you do!
February 20, 2016 at 7:34 pm
Does VIP 5 mean I will be able to have 3 kids? (One additional sim per house)
February 23, 2016 at 1:24 pm
Yes it does.
February 22, 2016 at 1:37 am
Wow so it it would cost me $2, 400 dollars to fully vip perk this game to 15, with buying 100 dollar lp packages or the like? Not even like the perks are that great to a point.
February 29, 2016 at 1:42 am
My vip points weren’t added after my purchases , please help
March 1, 2016 at 12:12 pm
Go into settings and click restore purchases, that should help.
June 16, 2016 at 1:54 pm
Thank you so much! I bought the starter pack when I first started and it didn’t show up, this worked for me and now I can buy whatever I want! Great blog by the way 😋

Hey weightlessmagic, I didn’t finish the peaceful patio request on time but I used my time extension to get the prize but I still can’t access it. Do you have any suggestions??
March 6, 2016 at 3:53 pm
Unfortunately this sounds like a technical issue which only EA will be able to fix so you will have to contact them, sorry!

March 30, 2016 at 7:11 pm
This might sound really stupid but how do I actually become VIP?
March 31, 2016 at 11:54 am
Did you read the beginning of the post? Buy items from the online store for real money to become a VIP.
April 3, 2016 at 11:35 pm
I have VIP 6 that means I can have 4 kids right? ( 2 + 4 = 6). But it wont let me add another baby. Does it matter if i only have a one story house or is my game glitched?
April 9, 2016 at 9:41 am
I think you can only have one additional sim per house from VIP 5 and onwards, each VIP level past that does not allow you to add a new sim to your houses each time you level up
April 5, 2016 at 9:04 pm
Does the VIP get used for something or will it stay there forever? Hope I made sense. Cause I have VIP and I am scared to do anything with it cause I feel like it will get used up.
April 8, 2016 at 10:00 am
It says there, it doesn’t decrease, the more money you spend the more VIP perks you unlock.
April 20, 2016 at 5:27 pm
Thanks! Your posts are really helpful!

Why i cant build sea voyage boat? i already reach level 34 and it say ‘wait for the next event”?
May 1, 2016 at 3:55 pm
That boat was part of an event that was around a while ago but that is not available to complete right now, they will probably bring it back again one day though but you will have to wait for that next event before you will be able to build it.
May 22, 2016 at 12:00 am
Hi! Do you know what’s the maximum amount of sims per town (without purchasing any VIP perks). Couldn’t find this information anywhere. Thanks!
May 22, 2016 at 6:51 pm
34 is the maximum
June 11, 2016 at 10:43 pm
If I’m being really honest, this is another way to get us to spend money, by giving us rewards. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a nice thought and addition, but, really? At least they don’t force us to spend money like they did last time. However, almost everything I go on will have at least one thing about a VIP perk.
June 15, 2016 at 10:58 am
The makers have to be paid somehow!
June 17, 2016 at 12:25 am
Just want to say thanks. Every time I want an answer or help with sims free play I can try 10 sites but yours always gives me the correct and most detailed answer. However I would like to know what currency your working with. I’ve seen pound symbols and dollar signs. I need to know so I can convert it to Australian dollar. Anyway thanks again
June 19, 2016 at 9:02 am
You’re welcome! Not all the pictures in this post are mine as I asked players to send me pictures of their VIP perks as they are at higher VIP levels than me, I live in England so my currency is British Pound.
June 17, 2016 at 5:38 am
How do you get rid of the vip perks? My sim finish work early at the police station and it said now in order for my sim to go to work again they need vip perks. Please help
June 19, 2016 at 8:58 am
Just wait for the next day, you can only send your sim once a day without VIP perks, wait and you will be able to send them again.
June 28, 2016 at 4:39 am
I am trying to go to work as a police officer in te newest update. Is saying I have to buy a VIP package to earn points to be a police. Is this true? Will I have to spend real money to be a cop or can I play without any VIP points?
June 28, 2016 at 8:56 am
No you don’t need to. If you are VIP you can send your sims to work twice a day (VIP level 1), upgrade more than one workstation at a time (VIP level 7) and use the mega spin plant (VIP level 2) but you do not need to: https://thegirlwhogames.wordpress.com/2016/06/14/the-sims-freeplay-police-update/
June 28, 2016 at 1:30 pm
Thanks! However, my sim has an orange briefcase and when j click to send him to work to train the only Option is to buy VIP? There’s no other way for me to send him
June 28, 2016 at 1:31 pm
You need to wait until the next day, you can only send your sims to work once a day unless you are VIP then you can send them twice, did you read the post I linked? It does say this.
July 13, 2016 at 2:34 am
Hi! I just have a quick question: for example, if you bought something that gave you 60 vip points, will that give you level 3 or only level 1 and 2? (15+30) I mean, is the points needed a total or is it like if you have 30 vip points do you get level 2, or just level 1 for 15 and have 15/30 for level 2? Thanks, and btw ur blog is awesome and so helpful! 😀
July 13, 2016 at 7:05 pm
You would be on level 3 as the points are all added on so if you had 30 VIP points you would get level 2, you wouldn’t need 15 more to reach level 2.
You’re welcome and thanks, I’m glad it helps!
July 18, 2016 at 2:38 pm
Hey there, Great blog!
This page is not completely up-to-date. For example you now get the ”extra shift” as a VIP 1.
I just bought some things for the first time to get to the VIP 1 perk. I’m very disappointed because it still costs 20LP to use this extra shift. Not such a great bonus as I thought it would be!
I’m interested if this is also the case for some other perks like the ”collect all” button. Apparently it was to easy to think you get these for free when you have paid to get the VIP-status…..
July 18, 2016 at 2:48 pm
Yes I’m very aware this post isn’t completely up to date, this is because I haven’t had the time to update this yet (these new perks were only added in the last update)
Police VIP perks can be found in this post anyway: https://thegirlwhogames.wordpress.com/2016/06/14/the-sims-freeplay-police-update/
And the collect all button is free.
July 18, 2016 at 5:52 pm
I’m sorry if i offended you. That wasnt my intention! Just trying to inform you.
Keep up the good work 🙂
July 20, 2016 at 10:12 am
The post has now been updated.
November 11, 2016 at 7:08 pm
It’s worse than that: you pay, they go back to work, and whatever progress they’d made toward a badge is gone. They start over on helping people – right back to 0/15 or 0/25. I wasted 60 LPs to discover this. I was not happy.
August 22, 2016 at 8:40 pm
Your posts have been super helpful for me (recently installed the game). Thanks for making this very useful blog, and keep up the great work 🙂
August 24, 2016 at 6:32 pm

August 24, 2016 at 11:43 pm
Hi weightlessmagic, thx for the blog to answer.
I m on level 30,have had 23 sims snd 15 houses.I got the limit sims reached.I just bought the VIP 5,so that can add the more sims,as said on VIP 5 bonus, additional 1 sim per house to unlock the additional more sims. But it didn’t work,I am still not able to add the sims, also my sims even could not have the double shift on working a day as usual on VIP 3 or VIP4.
What’s wrong?
Thanks in advance for answering .
August 25, 2016 at 2:58 pm
You have reached the sim count for that level, you will need to level up to be able to add another sim to your town, once you have space for another sim you will be able to have 5 in a house.
It still costs LPs to do a double shift and this is only available for the police and movie star careers.
October 1, 2016 at 4:14 am
I just want to upgrade to the VIP level where I am able to send all my sims to work at once, do you know what level that is?
October 2, 2016 at 11:54 am
There isn’t a VIP perk for this.
October 24, 2016 at 1:43 am
Can’t upgrade, buy more points, try the new Market Town, or even get on Cloud because in the last three days, the load screen appears and then says, “Unfortunately, Freeplay has stopped.” Phone is a Galaxy 6 and works just fine otherwise. What to do now? Thanks.

what happens after reach vip level 15 sims freeplay, do we continue to get VIP points to save for the future in case new VIP levels are added?
November 8, 2016 at 6:07 pm
I guess so as they will probably add more VIP levels in the future but I don’t know for sure.

Okay Thanks!

Wierd question; how do I disable VIP?
January 12, 2017 at 1:26 pm
You don’t, if you don’t want to be VIP then you just don’t buy anything from the online store.
January 14, 2017 at 12:07 am
VIP doesn’t downgrade after time without buying or can’t have moderator reset me?
January 15, 2017 at 5:17 pm
No, VIP is a good thing! Why don’t you want it?
February 23, 2017 at 10:56 pm
I just got to VIP10 but I never got my additional sim per town. My town still says 34/34 and I cannot add any new sims. The option is grayed out on all open houses. What am I doing wrong?
March 15, 2017 at 9:36 am
You will need to contact EA about this issue then if you haven’t got this VIP Perk.
March 15, 2017 at 9:45 pm
Did you figure out this as I’ve got to VIP 10 and can’t add another sim either
March 14, 2017 at 1:08 pm
Good morning, I’ve been seeing packages/gifts in front of one of my houses this morning. I “open gift” for 12 seconds, and nothing happens, but there is another new gift there! What are these?
March 15, 2017 at 9:23 am
This must be a glitch as usually a present only appears for the sims freeplays birthday in December: https://thegirlwhogames.blog/2016/12/15/happy-5th-birthday-the-sims-freeplay/
You could either contact EA about this glitch or just leave the gift unopened.

Hello I have VIP 6 but it won’t let me add another baby to my house. I currently have five, two parents and three kids. I was able to add the third child with VIP 5. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks!
May 1, 2017 at 12:10 pm
You cannot add another sim to that house as you added your extra child at VIP 5, you don’t get another one at VIP 6, you need to reach VIP 14 to be able to add 2 extra sims to a house.

You’re welcome!

When you say one additional sim per house, does that mean I can create 17 new sims if I have 17 houses? So for VIP levels 6,7,8,9, and 10 I can create 17 new sims ~each~ time I upgrade? And then for levels 11, 12, 13, 14, and 15, its a certain amount per town.
Or does this mean that I’ll have the same amount of sims, but I can house 5 rather than 4 in a single house? So I won’t get the option to create more sims, I’ll just have to keep leveling up? and then for levels 11-15, that’s when I’ll be able to create more sims?
Thank you!

It means you can have the same number of sims but 5 in a house instead of 4 and yes additional sim per town means your sim count increases so you can add another sim.

First off, your blog is amazing! Thank you so much for all that you do. Answering all of our questions too, you must have the patience of a saint 😜!
I have a question about VIP 15–reading through the perks, it says 2 additional sims per house. On lower levels before it, it says either 2 additional sims per house or 1 additional sim per house. My question is: are they just re-listing the perks you have already gotten from lower VIP levels, or is it actually another additional 2? Does that make sense? I’m sorry, I’m trying to explain as best I can ☺. Maybe a better way to ask it is what is the absolute maximum number of sims you can have living in a house once you reach VIP level 15? Because if each VIP level after the first few adds an additional sim, by the time you get to 15, it would seem that you should have about a dozen sims able to live in one house, which wouldn’t make sense. I hope you can understand my confusing explanation!💖

Thanks and you’re very welcome! 🙂
Sorry for the confusion, I have just updated the post for you and included the words NEW and UPDATED next to the perks that are new or the perks that are available previously but increase as the VIP level increases
So the 2 additional sims perk isn’t new or updated, it is the same perk as you get at VIP 14 so once you reach the final VIP level you can still only have 2 extra sims in your town

Thank you so much, that helps alot!

So now the only way to get VIP points is to spend real money on a game the specifically states that the game is free to play right in the games name. They should change the name to Sims, the Somewhat Freeplay.
September 8, 2017 at 2:25 pm
The only way to get VIP points has always been to spend money but you can still play the game without spending any money!

Hi how often can you use the hobby lucky spins and are they a one off or do you get them daily. I’ve just got vip 11 and got 5 free hobby spins but none showed up today so wondered if you get more than 5 in total, thank you
November 16, 2017 at 4:08 pm
I believe you only get 5 in total.

I won’t be able to buy Vip perks is there any other way ?? I’m at the place in the job profession where I need Vip to build the rooms but I can’t afford to buy the Vip packs any suggestions for me ?!
October 29, 2017 at 6:29 pm
You do not need to be VIP to do this, you just have to wait until you finish upgrading or building another workstation, check out this post for more information on the profession careers: https://thegirlwhogames.blog/2016/07/24/the-sims-freeplay-guide-to-profession-careers/

Hi,
I would first like to say thank you for help, you are my go to for just about everything! I would have been lost without you and your tips, advice and sheer love of The Sims. I can’t believe it but I actually found something that you either have never had a problem with or I am just beyond help! ☹️I bet it’s the latter! So the Girl who Games my question is this, when you level up to where you receive a Social flower seed ( and it does say free seed ) where in the world is it? When I get to the plant it is required that I spend LP’s for a spin. I have been on a level that this seed was available but just let it go, I have now moved up a level and now I feel like just letting it go is foolish. I do thank you in advance for taking away any time to answer my question.
Please take care and have a wonderful day.
Regards
Julianna

You’re welcome! I believe with the social flower seed you receive it with your daily reward each day from the mailbox, have you not found it there?

Hello! There can be one family in one house. Is it possible to increase the number of families in the house without completing additional homes for this?
December 23, 2017 at 12:02 pm
No it isn’t possible as you can only have 4 sims living in a house at one time without VIP perks.
