The Sims Freeplay- Guide to Pregnancy

Early Access to Beta Provided by EA/ Firemonkeys- may differ from actual version

In this post I will explain how the two types of pregnancy work! The Add a Baby option is still available if you still want a baby without pregnancy

You firstly need to complete the Two and a Half Sims Quest and A Bump-y Ride Discovery Quest to unlock pregnancy, once you have you will find these three options when you click on a crib:

  • Pregnancy Event
  • Pregnancy
  • Adding a Baby

Pregnancy Event:

  • Takes 9 days to complete, each day represents one month of pregnancy
  • There are daily goals and support tasks to be completed
  • Daily goals have to be completed by the pregnant sim, there are 9 days of goals to complete
  • Support tasks can be completed by all other sims
  • If you complete the daily goals every day and all the support tasks the new sim (baby) will earn baby bonuses- they will earn more experience points when they complete actions, complete actions faster, are not affected by low motives (low needs) and they will have these bonuses for life!
  • You don’t have to finish a days goals on time, if you are behind you will start on the next day as soon as the previous days goals are complete BUT you cannot complete day 9 once the time is up, the baby will be born straight away once the time is up
  • Completing the goals and tasks earns you maternity tokens which are used to buy maternity clothes and nursery furniture from the maternity store
  • Once you reach day 4 your sim will reach the second trimester and will grow a baby bump and change into their maternity clothes
  • Once you reach day 7 your sim will reach the third trimester and the baby bump will get bigger!
  • If you don’t manage to complete this event in the time limit you will miss out on the baby bonus but the baby will still be born
  • If you can wait until a pregnancy event is offering a maternity prize pack for completing in time, there is usually one available each update. You can find all the prize packs available in this post

NOTE: You can only complete one Pregnancy Event at a time

Stuck on a daily goal or support task? Check out my list here that explains how to complete each goal!

Want to see an example of a full 9 day pregnancy event and tips to completing one? Click here to read my completing a pregnancy event post

TIP: If you cannot afford the simoleons for the appointments select the LP option instead, this post may help if you need to earn some LP quickly!

Pregnancy

  • Takes 6 days
  • There are no daily goals or tasks to complete so you cannot earn maternity tokens
  • Pregnancy skips the first trimester so your sim starts with the baby bump and after 3 days the bump will get bigger
  • The baby will be born once the 6 day time limit is up

NOTE: You can only have one Pregnancy Event but can have many pregnancies at one time

Remember:

  • You need to complete the A Bump-y Ride Discovery Quest to unlock pregnancy, build the Maternity Store to start this quest
  • Only adult female sims can become pregnant but they don’t have to be married!
  • Pregnant sims have maternity leave so they cannot participate in professions, careers, hobbies or live events until they give birth
  • Once the quest is over you can still earn maternity tokens to buy all the items from the maternity store by completing another pregnancy event (206,740 tokens are needed in total to buy everything from the maternity store)
  • Find my TIPS to completing 9 day pregnancy events here
  • TIP: If you cannot afford the simoleons for the appointments select the LP option instead, this post may help if you need to earn some LP quickly!

  1. So if sims no longer need to be married in order to have babies does that mean my sims who are partners & are living together could have a baby with the game still acknowledging that the male sim is the baby’s father?

  2. Thank you for your blog and videos! They have helped me so much in this game, I would like to ask: if we can have single mothers, can we now have 3 children as long as there is a single mum and not a married couple? Thanks, Jas 🙂

  3. If I’m at the maximum number of sims can I start a pregnancy event or do I have to get rid of a sim first?

  4. Unfortunately the appointment IS in the live version, and it is really expensive. For me it costs more than 120.000 simoleons. I did not check yet but if these appointment goals appear several times in one event a baby is hard to afford.
So why do my medical sims work in the hospital for some pocket money if they could earn 120.000 within a couple of hours with a private practice? 😉

Overall I think all the tasks are impossible to accomplish in a nine days row if you have a real life. To me it seems to be quite a rip-off aiming for social points/real money.

Do you have any idea what can be done with the maternity coins when everything in the maternity store has been purchased? If there is no further use for them it would make further pregnancies quite pointless. Can the token be sold like the orbs?

    • Sorry I misunderstood when they told me appointments would be removed- they were talking about the aerobic and ultrasound appointments not the doctors appointment which is still available, sorry about that!
I completely agree though, unless you can play all day or have lots of SP to speed through they aren’t easy to complete in the time limit and the cost of appointments is ridiculous!
Well I would say it will take a while to earn all the maternity tokens needed and many pregnancy events will need to be completed so they probably haven’t thought of what to do with left over tokens yet

  5. This is so great! I am building the maternity store and I can hardly wait for it to be done so I can start the quest

  6. I can’t complete the Support tasks because it crashes when I click the Pregnancy Event and I can’t do anything about it. I tried deleting and reinstalling the app but it’s still the same. Do you have any idea what to do about it? Thanks.

  7. It says you have to complete all task from the previous day. It won’t go straight to the next. Also I can’t afford the doctor she cost 25’800 to do a checkup.

      • I forgot to write somewhere down when I stared yesterday. Can I see somewhere, when will be the day over? Like by the other events daily tasks resets in… time

      • Sorry I was told that it would reset if you don’t complete the tasks in a day but it doesn’t, you need to complete all the tasks on day 1 before you can move onto day 2

      • Hi! Love your blog. It’s always the first place I check out when new events are released. Thanks! 🙂

I’m not sure if it’s different now live versus what you saw in beta but re Daily Tasks – it does make me go back and finish the previous day’s tasks before proceeding to the current day. I’ve been behind twice, the current day’s # is highlighted, but upon clicking it I’m told I need to finish the previous day’s tasks first. Upon completion, the current day’s tasks open up.

It makes me curious whether the bonus will be available if all nine day’s worth are completed, even if they’re not all done on time.

One suggestion for EA would be to display a daily task timer if timing is critical to achieving the goal.

      • Thanks! 🙂
I know, unfortunately I can only go with what I have been told and I was told that it goes straight onto the next day if you don’t complete that day in time so that is what I told people but I have since learnt that this was incorrect and I’m sorry.
As for the bonus, I would assume you have to complete in the 9 days to receive this but again I don’t know, sorry I’ve not been much help!

      • Hi! Just a quick update in case no one else confirmed yet:

The baby bonus will be given as long as all tasks are completed within the nine day period. It’s okay if you don’t complete each day’s tasks on time as long as you’re caught up in the end. If you’re behind, you must complete the prior day’s tasks before you’re allowed to proceed.

Also, the order of tasks is different each time you undertake the challenge. I’m repeating it (to earn more maternity store tokens) and they’re different this time.

        Thanks again! 🙂

  8. This is so exciting! I can’t wait to update my device!… But I do have one question: after the discovery quest is over and you are no longer earning tokens, can you still buy maternity clothing?

  9. How do you get more maternity tokens? I ran out and it seems like I can’t get anymore. I’ve seen other people have up to 600,000 tokens and can buy all the items in the maternity store.

  10. if i start the quest later at night, will i still have a full 24 hours to do all the daily goals?

  11. Does the support task list reset daily too?
Or is it just the pregnant s sim that has to finish them daily?

  12. Hello, how do you have ~514.000 points/money there? I am at day 5. And i only have like 15.000. thanks, for the help! 🙂

  13. In the pregancy event explanation. You said “If you do not manage to complete all the daily goals one day then it will go straight onto the next day so you will not be able to earn the baby bonus for that event”. In this i take it as i can not complete the daily goals then in exchange i cant get the bonus. Right now im on in this event. The goals which the one you should check up. I dont have money so i think its fine i didnt get the bonus but when the day2 comes. It said that i NEED to complete it. So i dont have choice and complete it now on day 2 i have to call yoga instructor. And the goals prince rising. Im afrain by the next few days the goals with calling whoever it is will getting expensive each day. What should i do if i dont have more money? Does it meant i cant complete this event? Will it always be like this everytime i want do pregancy event?

    • Sorry I was told it goes straight onto the next day if you don’t complete a day but this turned out to be incorrect, you have to complete all the daily goals before you can move onto the next day, if you complete all the tasks and goals in the 9 day time limit you will get the baby bonus, if not you will still have to complete all the daily goals and support tasks before the baby will be born.
If you cannot afford the simoleons for the appointments there is always the LP option, if you don’t have enough LP this post may help you earn some quickly: https://thegirlwhogames.blog/2015/01/14/the-sims-freeplay-how-do-i-have-so-many-lps/

  14. Your suggestion that we create storage areas to keep work stations between live events has been extremely helpful.

I’m still in the process of completing the A Bump-y Ride Discovery Quest, and I was struggling to keep an accurate track of the maternity support team members completing Support Tasks.

I used your suggestion as the basis of creating a couple of maternity centers filled with fridges, ovens, couches, dining room tables, phones, snacks for the support team and of course the pregnant sim, and a birthing room in each for the current quest and future pregnancy events.

    I really appreciate your blog!

  15. I can’t get my sim to go for a relaxing walk inhe Park – if I don’t do this – I will miss out on the bonuses how do I do this?

  16. How did you manage to skip to the 8th day when you still had 9 days left? And could you please tell me how can I complete all the support tasks?

    • You can speed up the waiting time on each day with LP, I completed each days goals and then I used LP to get to the next day straight away
A tip with support tasks is use as many sims as possible, if you have to do something 5 times then use 5 sims to complete it quicker but they are hard to complete in the time limit!

  17. Must the support tasks be completed daily or over the 9 day period? (Thanx for your walk-throughs they are extremely helpful x)

  18. i have a pregnant sims but i do not have the crib used to check her progress. Will she give birth after the 6 days with any crib or since i do not have the earlier crib she will remain pregnant for ever?
I even tried deleting the sim but it will not work, do u think i should wait?

    • Unfortunately you need that crib in order for your sim to give birth, the makers are aware of this issue with players who have removed the crib and are working on a fix

  19. i couldn’t comment on your YouTube channel but why haven’t the appointments been removed in the update?

    • Sorry I misunderstood when they told me appointments would be removed- they were talking about the aerobic and ultrasound appointments not the doctors appointment which is still available, sorry about that!

    • You cannot miss the quest, you just need to build the maternity store and it will begin. It is a discovery quest so it will be around until you complete it, there is no rush

  20. Hello. So I started the pregnancy event and during the event I moved the family with the pregnant sim to a new house. I demolished the old house that had the crib in it. Now my sim is supposed to give birth but the crib doesn’t have the event icon over it and nothing is happening! Do I have to delete the sim and start all over again?

    • Unfortunately you need that crib in order for your sim to give birth, the makers are aware of this issue with players who have removed the crib and are working on a fix

  21. I saw that someone previously asked how to get their sim to take a relaxing walk around the park lake but I don’t see if there was an answer. When I go to the lake I don’t get any pop ups or anything prompting me to select any actions. How do I get her to walk around the lake?

  22. Is it even possible to complete all of the support tasks within the 9 days? I am doing the, continually (with all sims working on them in one go) and I’m almost at day 4 but only 19%. It feels like each task barely increases the percentage. Is it even worth it to try for the baby bonus?

  23. Hi I have deleted the house in which the crib for the baby was . And now my sim is forever pregnant. Please help me i cant delete them

    • Unfortunately you need that crib in order for your sim to give birth, the makers are aware of this issue with players who have removed the crib and are working on a fix

  24. I apologize if this has been addressed elsewhere, but I’m on day two of the pregnancy event goals and for some reason I cannot get my sim to call the yoga instructor. It’s my final goal before I move on to the 3rd day of goals. Any advice? Thanks!

    • Is the option not appearing on the phone? If it is once you select call yoga instructor they will appear at the front of your house so you can click on them and select the option

  25. I don’t have enough maternity money to buy the stuff in the new store and I completed the event already

  26. If I didn’t finish all the appointments and tasks for the 9 day quest, at the end of the 9 days do I still get to have my sim be pregnant?

  27. Is there an estimate on how many pregnancies I would have to complete to get all the items? How many sims do I need to sacrifice in the name of more furniture? ^_~
I’m yet to finish the first, and I’m trying to figure out how many token one get per pregnancy. If I have more pregnancies during an event do I earn double the tokens?

    • I have estimated that 6 pregnancy events will need to be completed to earn all the items and clothing. You can only complete one pregnancy event at a time so having multiple pregnancies during an event won’t earn you more tokens

  28. I have a question. It says “Take a relaxing walk around the park lake.” And it’s not showing up how to or am I supposed to do it myself? I don’t know what to do. Thank you.

  29. So, is there event not like the other sims freeplay events where it ends and you can’t do anything else? Or can I do the pregnancy event over and over?

    • Once you complete the A Bump-y Ride quest you unlock the pregnancy event and pregnancy options on a crib so you can complete these as many times as you want once the quest is over.

  30. I accidentally delete the crib and my sim is still pregnant, and the baby arrival icon won’t show up

    • Unfortunately you need that crib in order for your sim to give birth, the makers are aware of this issue with players who have removed the crib and are working on a fix

  31. What happens if you finish the event, but not in time? Does it still allow you to do another pregnancy option in the future, or does it simply only allow you to have a baby sim the ‘traditional’ way (vis a vis adding a sim to a crib, without getting to see your sim pregnant)?
