The Sims Freeplay- Tutorial Goals

When you start the game for the very first time you will get these goals to help you with the basics in the game. Complete the tutorial and simtown is yours to explore!

Tutorial Goals

Click on the green house icon:

This opens the create a sim menu so you can add your first sim:

When you click the green tick you will be taken to your sims house where you are shown the controls (pan, rotate, zoom in and out)

This is how the tutorial house looks in 2022 (the 2025 version includes a bookcase):

Now the tutorial goals will appear, goals are a big part of the game and there are a lot of quests to complete once the tutorial is over. Each goal in the tutorial has to be completed before you can move onto the next one

Furnishing homes: Place a free bathtub

Click on the chair with the lamp button to access the home store, find the bathroom section and click on the bath, click on the green tick to place in the house

MOVING OBJECTS

Moving objects: Move the Bathtub

Select move and sell in the home store then click on the bath to move it, click green tick to place

SIMS HAVE NEEDS

Sim needs: Have a quick soak in the bath- 5 secs

Click on the bath and select the option

Changing a sim’s clothes: Browse clothes on the wardrobe

Click on the wardrobe in this house and select browse clothes, click the green tick once you have finished changing your sims appearance or the back button if you don’t want to make any changes

Room editing and creation: Drag to resize a room

Open the home store again and click on the rooms tab, drag on an arrow to resize a room, click green tick to confirm

Using the inventory: place a free window

Open the home store, click on the inventory tab, click on the window section, click on the single tan and click the green tick to place in the house

Adding sims: building houses

Tap on the town map icon then on a blue add house symbol and build a house, the first one is free

Click on the building to quick complete using LP (this time it is free)

Adding sims: Create a sim

Click on the new house and select add new sim. Customise and click the green tick to add them to the game

New adult sims can only be added to empty houses

Inspire a sad sim

Tap the green inspire button and select a cupcake

CUPCAKE

Cupcakes usually cost LP

Managing sims: Tap on the Simtracker (blue folder)

SIMTRACKER

TIP: Check out my video on using the simtracker here!

Calling a sim: tap the whistle on the simtracker to bring a sim to your current location

Swapping sims: Switch sim selection

Click on the sim without the plumbob, click on the green symbol next to their name to switch to the other sim

The sim with the plumbob above their head is the one you are controlling

Developing relationships: Be funny to a sim- 10 seconds

This is an interaction with another sim, click on the other sim and select be funny under friendly

LEVELLING UP

How to level up: tap on level up icon at the top of the screen to view requirements

Once you earn 1,000 experience points and the park is built you will be able to reach level 5

Growing your town: build the Park

Go back to the town map, click on the Park and build it for free

Click on the park to quick complete with LP (this time it is free)

TUTORIAL IS COMPLETE!

This next goal is a weekly task:

Visit the mystery box shop

The mystery box shop is where you can buy items using keys, you earn keys by completing all the weekly tasks each week

TIP: Check out this post for more information on the mystery box shop!

No longer part of the quest but good to know how to:

Claim your check in rewards (mailbox at front of house, first tab is check in rewards)

Claim your daily rewards (mailbox at front of house, second tab is daily rewards)

Collect revenue on the town map (click on the town button that is next to the buy mode button)

Build a workplace (firestation) -2 minute 30 seconds

Get a sim a job at the fire station

The first main quest is Bread Winner which unlocks the cooking hobby, this quest will start automatically from level 6

The Sims Freeplay- Hobbies: Broomstick Flying

BOOK OF SPELLS QUEST – BROOMSTICK CLOSET – TEEN AND ADULT SIMS – PRIZE: WIZARDLY HOME BUILDERS KIT AND 5LP

TIME LIMITED HOBBY – TIME: 7 DAYS – TIME LIMITED PRIZE: CLEANING MOP

GLITCH: The issue with the Broomstick Closet has now been fixed

Once you complete the Spell Casting Hobby you will be able to complete this hobby using your teen or adult sims, to begin this hobby you need to buy the magic broomstick closet from the promotions r us store or the sorcerou s suppli es store for S10,000 and place it in one of your sims houses:

I cannot place the broomstick closet, it says its locked/ limited item, what do I do? You will have this problem if you try and place it from the new items tab, look in your inventory instead to be able to place the broomstick closet in one of your sims houses.

The 7 day time limit will begin as soon as you complete the spell casting hobby, if you complete the broomstick flying hobby in the time limit you will unlock the fantasian cleaning mop:

Your teen or adult sim needs to click on the broomstick closet and select one of the options:

Quick broomstick flight- 4 hours 30 minutes
Long broomstick flight- 12 hours 30 minutes

NOTE: the first time you complete this hobby you can only buy one closet so only one sim can complete this hobby but you can send another sim to a neighbours town to complete this hobby (if they have a broomstick closet) after the first time as many sims as you want can complete this hobby as you can buy as many closets as you want

After the time has passed come back and click the exclamation mark above your sims head to find one of the broomstick flying collectibles. Every time your sims complete one of the options above their broomstick flying hobby skill level up percentage will increase, once they reach 100% they will level up, there are 6 levels. You need to reach level 6 to be able to unlock all of the broomstick flying collectibles, once unlocked you will be able to find them.

The table below shows the level up percentage for each option:

NOTE: it says 138% but you will start from 0% at level 2

The next table shows you for each level what broomstick flying collectibles you unlock (so you can then find those ones too) and also the level up reward that a second and future sims will receive when they level up in this hobby:

NOTE: only the first sim completing this hobby needs to get to level 6 to unlock all the collectibles, future sims will be able to find any collectible even if they are only on level 1 in this hobby (and they can do the shortest option to try and find the collectibles quicker!)

You won’t find a new collectible each time, you will get repeats, if this happens just keep going, you will find them eventually! If it is still taking too long you can use the lucky spin on the row where you cannot find the item, this will cost LPs, when you click on the LP button it will clear the row and give you a random collectible on that row so you aren’t guaranteed a new item (you will get back any other collectibles you already had in that row) Need to earn some LPs to use the lucky spin?

The completed broomstick flying collection is shown below, once you complete the collection you need to click ‘start a new collection/restart breakdancing trophies’ at the top of the hobby collection screen, this clears the board so you can complete the collection again to earn more rewards (you will only get the option to restart the hobby collection when you have completed the collection):

You will earn XPs when you complete a row in the hobby but to complete the collection you need to find all 12 of the collectibles

If you complete this hobby in the time limit you will unlock the Fantasian Cleaning Mop, I personally gave up trying to complete this hobby in the time limit, after getting the same item 5 times in a row, the mop costs S888,888 from the sorcerous supplies store- it wanders around sweeping, although it does also clean up pee and vomit.

The rewards for completing this collection are the wizardly home builders kit and 5 LP:

The first time you complete this hobby collection you unlock the wizardly home builders kit (even if you don’t manage to complete in the time limit) which includes wizard themed exterior walls, wallpaper, flooring, window and door:

Aged floorboards- floors tab of house section
Old stone wall- walls tab of house section
Magic wall- exterior tab of house section
Window (stone)- windows tab of house section
Runic door- doors tab of house section
Secret door- doors tab of house section

From the second time onwards each time you complete the collection you will earn 5LP

Once you complete the Book Of Spells Quest the time limit for this hobby will start straight away, to begin this hobby you need to buy the magic wand podium from the promotions r us store or the sorcerous supplies store for S5,000 and place it in one of your sims houses:

The completed spell casting collection is shown below, once you complete the collection you need to click ‘start a new collection’ at the top of the hobby collection screen, this clears the board so you can complete the collection again to earn more rewards (you will only get the option to restart the hobby collection when you have completed the collection):

You will earn XPs when you complete a row in the hobby but to complete the collection you need to find all 12 of the collectibles

If you complete this hobby in the time limit you will unlock the Imperial Barn Owl, which can be found in the Sorcerous supplies store and pet section of the home store and costs 15LP. Disappointingly it is just like a wall decoration, I was hoping it would fly around the house!

The rewards for completing this collection are the broomstick flying hobby and 5LP:

The first time you complete this collection you unlock the broomstick flying hobby (even if you don’t manage to complete in the time limit) again this is a time limited hobby and the time limit will begin as soon as you complete the spell casting hobby
From the second time onwards each time you complete the collection you will earn 5LP

LEVEL UNLOCKS: 8 UNLOCKS: spell casting hobby TIME LIMIT: 7 days PRIZE: pet dragon

Once you have built the Sorcerous Supplies store this discovery quest will begin. If you complete this quest in the time limit you will unlock the pet dragon! You can still complete this quest once the time limit is up to unlock the spell casting hobby but you won’t get the dragon prize

You cannot complete this quest at the same time as any other discovery quest

The price for building the sorcerous supplies store will vary depending on how many businesses you have already built

HOW LONG DOES THIS QUEST TAKE TO COMPLETE?

Times may vary depending on the star rating an item has

Buy a crystal ball (S5,000) from Sorcerous supplies

Place a crystal ball in a house (you will find it in the decorations section of your inventory once you have brought it)

Look into the crystal ball- 30 seconds
Gaze into the crystal ball- 30 seconds
Pick up the magic wand- 2 seconds
Unlock the door to the wand room: Randomly Rearrange- 2 hours 30 minutes
Pick up the magic wand- 30 seconds (magic wand podium- pictured below)
Use a crystal ball to go home- 1 second
Act casual on a couch- 10 hours
Place the magic wand podium in your house (from hobbies section of inventory, pictured below)

Cast random spells- 13 hours 30 minutes (using magic wand podium)

Talk to a sim about magic wands- 8 minutes (click on another sim)
Use the magic wand (cast random spell on magic wand podium)- 13 hours 30 minutes
Watch emergency broadcast- 2 hours 30 minutes
Visit the park
Call a sim to the park
Formulate a plan- 6 hours 10 minutes (click on a mummy)

Search for a mummy removal spell on the Internet- 13 hours 30 minutes
Perform anti-mummies spell on a magic wand (podium)- 7 minutes
Use the crystal ball to visit the wizards house- 1 second
Read weird world of wands at wizards house- 22 hours 30 minutes
Explain to the wizard- 8 hours 12 minutes
Use the crystal ball to go back home- 1 second
Call a sim to the park
Talk to the wizard- 1 minute 40 seconds
Distract a mummy- 16 hours 30 minutes
Talk to wizard about magic spells- 3 minutes
Distract a mummy- 16 hours 30 minutes
Joke around with the wizard- 10 seconds
Distract a mummy- 16 hours 30 minutes
Pack up the magic wand podium- 30 seconds

Talk to the wizard- 3 hours 10 minutes (he should appear at the house you are at)

QUEST IS COMPLETE!

You can now complete the Spell Casting Hobby (you need to buy a magic wand podium like the one in this quest from the sorcerous supplies store, you do not get to keep the one in the quest) The time limit for the hobby begins as soon as you complete this quest

Prize: Dragons

Where do I find them? In the Pet store (if you haven’t built the pet store yet you can still get the dragons once it is built)

Cost?

There are two 1 star dragons- one costs 50,000, the other costs 25 SP
There are two 2 star dragons- one costs 250,000, the other costs 25 LP
There are two 3 star dragons- one costs 50 LP, the other costs 100 LP

Is the prize worth it? Yes it really is! It is unusual and cute, why wouldn’t you want one? Once you have brought a dragon it will appear at the house, near the mailbox as an egg: You can move it into the house, the dragon takes a day to hatch:

Once it has hatched it will fly around the house, like dogs and cats it will find simoleons and LP:

A sim can interact with the dragon to increase the dragons happiness, they can praise or feed them:

You will now be able to complete the Saved by the Spell Discovery Quest

How do I start this discovery quest?
Build the sorcerous supplies store to start this quest

Does the time limit start when I click to build or once the building has complete?
Once it has finished building the quest and time limit will begin

Can I do discovery quests at the same time as a main quest?
Yes you can

Why can’t I do this discovery quest yet?
You cannot do more than one discovery quest at the same time, if you are currently on another one (the list can be found here) you will not be able to do this one until that one is completed

Do I have to do this quest?
If you don’t start building the sorcerous supplies store you don’t have to do this quest at all but if you have already started building or started this quest you need to complete it before you can move on to the next quest

I haven’t started this quest yet, will it still be available when I want to do it?
Yes it will be, you can choose to start it whenever you like

How do I unlock the door to the wand room?
Select randomly rearrange

How do I place the magic wand podium, I can’t find it!
It will be in the hobby and career items section of your inventory

Why do blue footprints appear when I try to use an item?
Blue footprints appear when your sim cannot access an item you want them to use, you need to either rotate the item or move an item that has been placed in front of it so they can use it.

How do I send my sim to the park?
Go to the park and click on the whistle next to a sim who isn’t busy on the simtracker, this post explains more about the simtracker

Everytime my sim gazes into the crystal ball it says ‘this place is too crowded’ why?
If you already have a sim at the wizards cottage you will get this message, use the simtracker to go to the sim who is already there instead of using the crystal ball

Can I do all the distract a mummy tasks at the same time?
No you can’t, you can only do them one at a time

How do I pack up the magic wand podium?
Click on it to pack up

The magic wand podium has disappeared once I’ve picked it up! How do I complete the hobby?
You will need to buy a magic wand podium from the sorcerous supplies store to complete the hobby

What do I get if I complete this quest in the time limit?
Pet dragons

I haven’t built the pet store yet, will the dragons be in there when I do?
Yes they will

What do the dragons do?
They find simoleons and LPs like dogs and cats

Is there anything in the pet section for dragons?
No, there isn’t

What happens if I don’t complete in the time limit, can I still finish this quest?
Yes you have to finish it to unlock the spell casting hobby before you can move onto the next quest

I didn’t complete in the time limit, can I restart the quest?
No, you cannot redo quests

Can I still get the prize if I don’t complete in the time limit?
No, the only way to get the limited time prizes is by completing the quest in the time limit

I don’t like this quest! Can I just skip it?
No, you have to complete this quest before you can move onto the next one now that you have started it, if you don’t start it you don’t have to do it

Some times are slightly different on my game, why is this?
Times may vary depending on the star rating of the item you are using as the higher star rating an item has the quicker you will complete a goal

Some times are really off/ different goals show for me, why is this?
This will be because the quest has been updated recently, I try my best to keep these posts up to date but it is difficult as I cannot redo every quest each time the game is updated. If you notice any changes please let me know so I can update the post

This quest unlocks the spell casting hobby, does the time limit start straight away once I have completed this quest?
Yes, the time limit for the hobby starts straight away once this quest is complete, you can click no when the hobby pop up appears but this does not stop the timer going down

The Sims Freeplay- Pirate Ship Trading and Ancient Goddess Monument

Once you have completed The Pirate and His Goddess Quest you will have unlocked the pirate ship, the pirate ship is used for trading to be able to build the ancient goddess monument.

Click on the pirate ship to see the trade being offered.

What do you pay?

You trade materials that you use to build the other monuments, such as wind, as well as LPs, SPs and simoleons!

What do you receive?

You will receive a piece needed to upgrade the ancient goddess monument

After you have traded you cannot trade again for 24 hours unless you use the message in the bottle which will call the pirate back straight away with another trade, but this will cost you LPs.

Continue trading to level up the monument

How many levels are there to fully upgrade the monument?

There are 25 levels

Why does it need to be built?

Once fully upgraded to level 25 you will earn bonus hobby skills points after any hobby interaction! Which means your sims will level up in hobbies faster

Also once built you will earn a 1LP reward twice a week:

Saturday between 8pm and 12am
Wednesday between 9am and 1pm

click on the monument to collect your rewards during these times

My opinion?

I am a little disappointed in the pirate ship, I thought it was going to be a public area that could be explored but instead its just for another boring monument! But the bonus hobby skill points and free LPs you earn once you completely build the monument are worth the time taken to build it!

Why does the pirate ship remain once you have finished building the ancient goddess monument?

The ship stays because once you earn the gems the pirate will trade resources for a treasure chest which ‘gives you the chance to earn useful items such as furniture or rare artefacts’

Polina said ‘I managed to open a few treasure chests after the goddess was complete, and it’s just furniture from the store, mostly neo tokyo. Sometimes, it gives you 1LP’
