Do you often visit a neighbours town and you cannot find the items you need to complete social tasks in one place? This post will stop you being that neighbour and instead be able to create a house full of all the social items needed so you can become the best neighbour in simtown!

The house ideally needs to be at least 2 storys so you can add a firepole
Garden Items:
- A pool with an inflatable pool toy and a diving board
- A pool for your neighbours to clean (doesn’t have to be a dirty pool)
TIP: I think its best to have 2 pools, one clean and one dirty so if your neighbour is looking to swim they don’t have to clean the pool first
- Poolside Recliner
- Sleeping Bag
- Garden Patch to plant:
TIP: again you could have two garden patches, one that they can use to plant and the other one with a sim eating plant that they can negotiate with it (grow lettuce until it turns into a sim eating plant)
Pets:
- A Cat
- A Dog and a Frisbee
Main Career and Hobby Items (these can be brought from the promotions r us store once they have been unlocked):
- Auction Podium
- Guitar
- Easel
- Telescope
- Camera
- Soccer Ball
- Fashion Studio
- Fire Hydrant
- Mirror
- Woodworking Bench
I’m not sure exactly how many of the hobbies appear in social tasks so I’ve only listed the most commonly asked for hobby items here but I would recommend you have all the hobby items you can in this one house. My house below is still a working progress, each time I unlock a new hobby I add that item to the house, some may not be needed to complete tasks but they will be helpful for neighbours completing time limited hobby events!
- Haunted Items– for the ghost hunting hobby (these can be found in buy mode, look for the red ghost symbol!)

TIP: It is best to have 2 ovens, a normal one so your neighbours can bake items and the other one that is on fire (cook brownies until they cause a fire so your neighbours can extinguish it)
Also its great if you have some places in your town such as The Mall, Community Center, Campgrounds and Snow Park built!
What about a pet farm? When it was possible to have more than 2 pets in a house some players created pet farms which neighbours like to visit to find treasure from these pets quickly, it isn’t possible to make one anymore.
Once you have finished editing your house you will need to Save to the Cloud so your neighbours can see the changes you have made.

I wish we could name the streets and number the houses so we could easily direct neighbors to the appropriate house. It would also make it much easier for us to remember a house we’ve created for a special hobby or task.
That would be helpful!
A lot of people label it “SP” made out of rooms on the roof. Personally I labeled it “SP” with patio tiles, because it was cheaper. It takes up more ground space though.
I’ve also seen people use firework machines, but they must have gotten them from special events.

Most of the Sim neighbor houses I have seen are two buildings shaped like an S and a P for Sim Point. It makes them very easy to find.

No, nothing you do at a neighbours house affects their game.
Have combined both my work house, and my comp house ( for neighbors ) together. My basement is for neighbors ( have everything they need with a few items on ground floor like pool, lawn furniture and outdoor hobbies. )
Only thing I am missing is sleeping bag. Where do I find one of those? BTW, your 2 story looks great!!
The next thing is to get some neighbors… that will be interesting 😬
That’s a great idea! 🙂 If you complete the vacationers guide to the outdoors quest in the time limit you will unlock sleeping bags which you can then find in the outdoor furniture section
Appreciate your complement about my Work/Comp house combination. Also is the only house I have with light blue roof, all others have same brown wooden roofs. Makes my Work/Comp house very easy to find as it stands out when people arrive to visit.
Completed Vacationer’s Quest a while back, but not in time to get sleeping bags. Maybe they will offer them in the market or something. Just have to wait and see. My somewhat new motto in life: “Wait for it…. ” LOL and Thanks for info. Have a good one.
Definitely another great idea- it is always a pain when you have to go searching for the right house! Mine is the first house in my town but after hearing the great ways from all of you about how you make your houses stand out I think I will be editing mine a bit more!
Now you mention it I have seen them appear in the market events before so hopefully you will get that event at some point too! Definitely a good motto to have with this game 😉

I have a social task to “have a sim design fashion in a neighbor’s house” but I can’t find a sewing machine in any of the homes of neighbors in the default neighbor world. I don’t have any real world neighbors in the game

Hi! Is there a social tasks list? I’m now on my 3rd ‘my-neighbours-dont-have-that’ task and I’ve been skipping them with LPs, but if I knew I’d be skipping tasks forever, I’d just quit doing those. (Love your blog, btw!)

I don’t believe you actually need a dirty swimming pool for the “clean a pool” task. As long as you go through the motions and complete the task, you get credit for cleaning even an already clean pool. I’ve had it work on a pool with a pool cleaner in the bottom. (Unless someone has evidence to the contrary!)
Previously you needed a dirty pool but yes it does work with a clean pool now.
I love your helpful blog. I am on the social task, practice putting out a fire. Can you tell me where to find a fire hydrant?
