Early Access to Beta Provided by EA/ Firemonkeys- may differ from actual version
In this post I will explain how the two types of pregnancy work! The Add a Baby option is still available if you still want a baby without pregnancy

You firstly need to complete the Two and a Half Sims Quest and A Bump-y Ride Discovery Quest to unlock pregnancy, once you have you will find these three options when you click on a crib:
- Pregnancy Event
- Pregnancy
- Adding a Baby
Pregnancy Event:

- Takes 9 days to complete, each day represents one month of pregnancy
- There are daily goals and support tasks to be completed
- Daily goals have to be completed by the pregnant sim, there are 9 days of goals to complete
- Support tasks can be completed by all other sims
- If you complete the daily goals every day and all the support tasks the new sim (baby) will earn baby bonuses- they will earn more experience points when they complete actions, complete actions faster, are not affected by low motives (low needs) and they will have these bonuses for life!
- You don’t have to finish a days goals on time, if you are behind you will start on the next day as soon as the previous days goals are complete BUT you cannot complete day 9 once the time is up, the baby will be born straight away once the time is up
- Completing the goals and tasks earns you maternity tokens which are used to buy maternity clothes and nursery furniture from the maternity store
- Once you reach day 4 your sim will reach the second trimester and will grow a baby bump and change into their maternity clothes
- Once you reach day 7 your sim will reach the third trimester and the baby bump will get bigger!
- If you don’t manage to complete this event in the time limit you will miss out on the baby bonus but the baby will still be born
- If you can wait until a pregnancy event is offering a maternity prize pack for completing in time, there is usually one available each update. You can find all the prize packs available in this post
NOTE: You can only complete one Pregnancy Event at a time
Stuck on a daily goal or support task? Check out my list here that explains how to complete each goal!
Want to see an example of a full 9 day pregnancy event and tips to completing one? Click here to read my completing a pregnancy event post
TIP: If you cannot afford the simoleons for the appointments select the LP option instead, this post may help if you need to earn some LP quickly!
Pregnancy

- Takes 6 days
- There are no daily goals or tasks to complete so you cannot earn maternity tokens
- Pregnancy skips the first trimester so your sim starts with the baby bump and after 3 days the bump will get bigger
- The baby will be born once the 6 day time limit is up
NOTE: You can only have one Pregnancy Event but can have many pregnancies at one time
Remember:
- You need to complete the A Bump-y Ride Discovery Quest to unlock pregnancy, build the Maternity Store to start this quest
- Only adult female sims can become pregnant but they don’t have to be married!
- Pregnant sims have maternity leave so they cannot participate in professions, careers, hobbies or live events until they give birth
- Once the quest is over you can still earn maternity tokens to buy all the items from the maternity store by completing another pregnancy event (206,740 tokens are needed in total to buy everything from the maternity store)
- Find my TIPS to completing 9 day pregnancy events here
- TIP: If you cannot afford the simoleons for the appointments select the LP option instead, this post may help if you need to earn some LP quickly!
Check out my Guide to Pregnancy video here:
Your blog is great. Been playing for a year, love your hints. But seriously, this pregnancy event is RIDICULOUS. You should put a warning on the top of your blog that it is going to cost you stupid amounts of money and/or social/life points. I am on day 4 and the sim has been extorted every day to either pay a yoga instructor 250,000 simoleans
Or use 12 lifestyle points. I have been required to pay the doctor and/or the yoga instructor every day. Since I started the event right after using all of my money to build the store, I’m out.
And really? 13 other Sims required to do task after task after task? This is irritating at best. I wonder where I can write these people to complain. As another commenter above said, it’s just a way to take the “free”out of freeplay. Looks like my pregnant Sim is going to be permanently stuck at 4 months.
Readers, don’t waste your time.just buy the baby.
I completely agree with you, I have passed on your feedback to the makers along with my own
I have a pregnant sim. Shes on her ninth day (not all of the tasks are completed) , and she hasn’t given birth. The cot i clicked on to start this event was placed in a house i demolished without remembering the cot was still in there (but i have a new cot) so do i need that same cot? I need my sim to give birth so i can have other pregnant sims.
Unfortunately you need that crib in order for your sim to give birth, the makers are aware of this issue with players who have removed the crib and are working on a fix
we need that fix asap. i need more pregnant sims.
I know, they are working on it. I don’t work for EA so I can’t get it fixed any faster, sorry!
I’ve had the same issue. Any idea on when this problem will be fixed? My sim is still pregnant and not able to give birth due to being relocated to a new home without the original crib.
Sorry I haven’t heard anything yet!
Finished the pregnancy quest and my new baby won’t complete her xylophone hobby. Stays at 0% with no bubble appearing. It only takes three hours instead of 3:10.
I’ve been told that even though it says 3 hours it does still take 3 hours and 10 minutes so if you leave them for the extra 10 minutes it should be able to complete.
When the pregnancy is over does your sim automatically revert back to the original outfit they were wearing?
I ask because the sim I was planning to compete with is wearing the black/green “medieval” bodice that’s only available to teenagers now but used to be for adults. I used a life orb to keep her and the outfit alive and don’t want to lose it.
Thanks so much
Yes it does but if the outfit is no longer available it may not be able to find it. Hopefully it will!
I accidentally deleted the crib that I had during the event, and when I add a new one, I’m not getting the pregnancy icon over it. How do I get a crib with the icon?
Unfortunately you need that crib in order for your sim to continue with the event and give birth, the makers are aware of this issue with players who have removed the crib and are working on a fix
Can a pregnant sim also help with support tasks?
Yes they can
I love the new baby! The green diamond even sparkles!! The timer needs to be adjusted on the baby’s hobby. It says it only takes 3 hours to play the xylophone, but the bubble won’t appear until about 10 minutes after it reaches 0%. The normal time for the hobby is 3 hrs, 10 min.
I have let the makers know about this issue, hopefully it will be sorted soon!
I have that same issue – do you think I should report it as well, or just wait for them to fix it?
You can report it if you want to
I completed all the support task and the pregnancy task on time within the 9 days. I only received 39,840 maternity tokens by the end of the event, minus the few tokens spent on the first maternity clothes required to purchase. I need more maternity tokens in order to purchase from the maternity store. How do I earn more without another sim getting pregnant?
Thanks for all your help over the last few years!!!
Nick
You can’t earn any more tokens if you do not complete another pregnancy event as this is the only way to earn them
You’re welcome!
Do you still get to choose weather the baby is a boy or a girl and the name ?
Yes, once the baby is born you are taken to create a sim so you can customise the baby
How do you get another sim to take pictures of the bump plz. I can’t seam to find it. Thank you.
Have your pregnant sim click on another sim and select the interaction, this post explains how to complete all the daily goals and support tasks: https://thegirlwhogames.blog/2018/06/28/the-sims-freeplay-pregnancy-event-daily-goals-and-support-tasks-list/
I finished my 9 day event and my sim won’t go into labor labor
Did you complete all the support tasks?
So mine is stuck pregnant… it’s been 10 days and she won’t have the baby. Unfortunately, i didn’t know it had to be the original crib that starts the event and I got rid of it… what do you suggest to make her not be pregnant anymore…?
Unfortunately you need that crib in order for your sim to continue with the event and give birth, the makers are aware of this issue with players who have removed the crib and are working on a fix
I completed the pregnancy, and have a baby with the bonus. Her action timer sticks on 0 until the normal time has passed, negating the action reduction.
Are you trying to complete the xylophone hobby? There is a glitch on this where it says the hobby takes 3 hours but it actually takes 3 hours 10 minutes so you have to wait the extra 10 minutes for the baby to finish
I aged her up to toddler. I have a normal toddler, and doing the supersim toddler playhouse actions take the same actual time. All toddler actions actually take the same time, although the pregnancy toddler shows 5% less time on the tooltip.
With the xylophone action, a normal baby does it in 3:10. It claims bonus babies complete actions faster, but they don’t. It shows 3 hours then takes 3:10. It shows 3:48 then takes 4 hrs for Supersim hideout, like a normal toddler.
Yes there seems to be an issue with the timings for the bonus babies, if this is still happening you may want to contact the makers to see if they can fix this issue
What if by some human error I accidentally tap on the crib and begin a 9-day Pregnancy Event with a sim? Is there any way to cancel that?
Unfortunately no, you will have to complete the event
How do you know if the baby has the baby bonus? I didn’t finish all of my daily tasks on time but I managed to catch up and complete them all within the 9 day timer. Does my baby not have the bonus?
If you completed all the goals and tasks in the time limit your baby will have the bonus, once born you can see if the baby has the bonus on the simtracker, their is a golden circle around their picture and when you are playing as the baby the plumbob above their head will be extra sparkly
My Pregnancy menu is messing up, every time I try to open it for more goals and support tasks it crashes my whole game. After the 9 days are up and I make her go into labour, do u think once I start a new pregnancy this issue will stop?
Thank u so much for all your help!!
Have you updated your game recently? There was an update a few weeks ago that should have fixed this issue
What is the benefit of doing this event? I used alot of Lps the first time I completed the event. And I don’t see the point.
Completing the quest unlocks the other pregnancy option so you can have pregnancy sims without completing the event and completing the events earns you maternity tokens to buy items from the maternity store but I agree with you its expensive!
I love that the mommy sim stays inspired throughout the pregnancy!
My unmarried sim who lives with her parents had a baby. Now it says the baby is her sister and the grandparents are her parents! That’s kinda creepy.
Oh that’s weird!
Hi, I’m confused about the support tasks, I’ve just started the pregnancy quest, I’ve almost finished the last of the 1st day daily chores but what do I have to do to get those 10 likes and what is a Simterest post?
Select the option on a computer, support tasks have to be completed several times so this one you need to do 10 times so you can either use 10 sims to do this at one time or have 1 sim do this 10 times or 5 sims do this 2 times each, it will complete once you have done this 10 times. All support tasks and daily goals and how to complete them can be found here: https://thegirlwhogames.blog/2018/06/28/the-sims-freeplay-pregnancy-event-daily-goals-and-support-tasks-list/
how do i get my pregnant sim to take a relaxing walk around the park lake? there isn’t an option showing for her to do that task when she is at the park?
Send your pregnant sim to the park and click on the lake to get this option, all tasks and how to complete them can be found here: https://thegirlwhogames.blog/2018/06/28/the-sims-freeplay-pregnancy-event-daily-goals-and-support-tasks-list/
I don’t understand how you managed to complete the event in a day? I’m still on the 5th day when I should be on the 8th day. I won’t be able to finish the event on time.
I didn’t! This is the early access version, this isn’t my game, I just get access to this version to create these posts and videos before the update is released so I get a lot of currency on that to speed my way through it quickly to create that content.
Hi. I have a question. I have two female sims leaving together (they’re best friends) and one of them is in a relationship with male. I want them t have a baby. When I put a crib in girls’ house and then click I can choose female I want to get pregnant, but there is nothing about father, will her boyfriend be father or baby will have two mums, since women leave together? Also, can a single female have baby without any relationship?
Yes single females can have babies but it will probably say the other female is also the mother because they live together.
Hi!
I did a pregnancy event and completed all the tasks. But then the baby wasn’t born, she’s just still very pregnant. I can’t work out how to make her have the baby! I thought it was because when she was pregnant my sintown was full, so I waited until someone died. When there was one space available after a death, I thought that she would have the baby…. but no luck!
Any suggestions?
Thanks xxx
P.s I love this blog, thank you so much for making it.
Have you completed all the support tasks too? They won’t give birth if you still have support tasks to complete
Am I the only one that has to spend over S140,000 to have an appointment with the doctor or yoga instructor. I’ve already spent around 300,000 simoleons on just three appointments for three days and I am broke and cannot continue having appointments for my Sim. Is this maybe a glitch or is it just my game because I really do want to continue all of the tasks for each day. Additionally I have seen multiple YouTube videos were people have a appointment that only cost around 50,000 simoleons.
No you aren’t the only one, the appointment cost varies for everyone but I think the further you are in the game the more expensive it is but I don’t know for sure the reasoning behind it
Hi! Do you know if two sims can be pregnant at the same time and what will happen with support tasks? Can they be done at the same time?
Two sims can be pregnant at one time but you can only complete one pregnancy event at one time.
For the event I had to use LPs to unlock a sim. It is now the end of my event and I don’t quite get the tasks done in the 9 Days. It said that the even was over and a message came up to go to the cot. I clicked on that and it kicked me out of the game. When I brought the game back up my sim appears to be stuck preganant. Anyone had this issue or know how to resolve it?!
You need to complete all the goals and tasks before your sim can give birth
Hi! Thanks for all the great tips and information! I completed a pregnancy event, all the daily goal and supporting tasks within the time frame, actually several hours early. It told me I didn’t have space for a new sim though I had one space. I deleted a sim and still nothing. The event tab is gone, my sim is still pregnant and won’t go into labor. I didn’t remove the crib either but when I click on it, it prompts to start a new event. And if I try to select the same sim it says they are already pregnant. Any advice?
How frustrating! You may need to contact the makers so they can fix this issue for you, this post explains how to contact them if you are unsure: https://thegirlwhogames.blog/2016/05/29/the-sims-freeplay-contacting-ea-firemonkeys/
Hey! By any chance did you hear back about this issue? Or did it resolve? Same exact thing is happening to me right now and I haven’t heard back yet from them about it 😦
Does anyone know how many total maternity tokens are acquired at the end of a complete event? I’m trying to find out how many pregnancy events I’ll need to go through in order to buy all of the items in the maternity store. It’s going to take me forever!
I have estimated that 6 pregnancy events will need to be completed to earn all the items and clothing, you earn 38,320 by completing all the daily goals and support tasks
Do you have to complete ALL of the tasks for the pregnant sim within 24 hours to get the bonus? I can’t tell if I am on track or not since I finished the last event for the first day on the second day (but I started that task on the first day).
No, you have to complete them all in the 9 day time limit to get the baby bonus, if you don’t manage to complete them all in time you will still need to complete the pregnancy event before your sim can give birth but you won’t get the baby bonus.
This quest is ridiculous. I am sorry I have wasted so many resources already and don’t want to continue. Is there a way out? What happens if I just don’t finish?
I know, it is very expensive! Unfortunately now you have started it you will have to complete it before you can move on, your sim will be pregnant until you complete all the daily goals and support tasks
Hi @weightlessmagic! I want to start off by saying your posts have helped me through SO much over the past couple of years! Anyways, my question is this: when you choose to do the pregnancy event again, do you still have the option to purchase things from the maternity store? Or is it lost after your first attempt? Asking because I am nearing day 8, but haven’t made nearly enough maternity tokens to even cover the first line of clothing.
I’m glad I could help! You won’t earn all the materinty tokens you need from one event you have to do many events to earn all the tokens you need so yes you can buy items from the store until you have unlocked them all
Hi, after I have unlocked all items from maternity store will there be different items when I start a new pregnancy event?
There won’t be any new items until they add new ones to the game once you have unlocked them all
My Sim has been pregnant for over 2 weeks. I can’t click on the crib (it says I’ve reached the max Sims for my town, but I’m only at 30 of 32). Her pregnancy bar is fully red and her bump is huge. I have not moved or sold or inventoried the crib.
Why can’t she have this baby? Is this a glitch?
Mo
Have you completed all the daily goals and support tasks? You need to complete those before your sim can give birth
My sim is pregnant and I didn’t complete the support task in time. I did finish the daily goals and still have t he original crib but my sim won t give birth. I moved the crib a couple of times but I can’t click on it to make her have the baby.
You need to complete all the support tasks and then your sim will give birth.
It doesnt even give me the option to finish the event. And I was able to start a new one with another sum. Would I be able to use that one for this aim to give birth?
Starting a new one probably won’t help, the latest update just released should fix all issues regarding the pregnancy event, if you are still having these problems once you have updated your game you may need to contact the makers to see if they can fix this issue for you, this post explains how to contact them if you are unsure: https://thegirlwhogames.blog/2016/05/29/the-sims-freeplay-contacting-ea-firemonkeys/
the same thing is happening to me too 😦
If I have a sim who is engaged and is pregnant with a baby will the engaged sim be the father ?
They should be
Why can’t my pregnant sim turn on the lights I. Her house? Every time I go to turn the light on when I am in character as my pregnant sim, it isn’t allowed. I’m confused
The options on the lights are on, off or auto light, the sim doesn’t turn them on or off themselves, there is no action for this
The same thing happened to me! My pregnant sim was in the house alone and I was not able to turn any of the lights off. I had to call another sim to the house to do it.
My sim has finished the 6 day pregnancy but when I click on the Mum with the love heart in her stomach above the cot it to create the baby it just brings up the pregnancy options as if I’m adding a new baby but my sim is already pregnant (the cot that I am clicking on is the original one with the Mum and love heart sign above it.??
Thanks
Are you clicking the cot while you are controlling the pregnant sim or a different sim?
do you have to complete the support quests every day aswell or just the daily tasks for a baby to get the specila things?
There isn’t a set amount of the support tasks you have to complete each day you just have to complete them all by the end of the 9 day time limit
So my pregnant sim had 1 day and 21 hours left till the baby had to arrive. But then, me being curious and dumb, I clicked add a baby (the 24 hours one). What will happen now? Because I also had another baby in the house. Does that mean my couple will have 3 children? Child 1 the baby boy already in the house, child 2 the baby in the pregnant mums bump, child 3 the baby delivered by the stork.
Oops, what did happen? Has your sim been able to give birth? If not you might have to delete the baby you added so your sim can give birth.
I chose the 6 days pregnancy
And i storage the crib
Now she can’t delivery the baby
Why I should to do ?
The latest update just released should fix all issues regarding the pregnancy event, if you are still having these problems once you have updated your game you may need to contact the makers to see if they can fix this issue for you, this post explains how to contact them if you are unsure: https://thegirlwhogames.blog/2016/05/29/the-sims-freeplay-contacting-ea-firemonkeys/
I have a Sin that just completed the 6 day pregnancy and it gave me a notice that said something about having sim lay in a cot and welcome new baby but I don’t have a cot. Not sure what to do to have this baby!
Do you know where you put the crib that you started the pregnancy from?
I started he pregnancy event for 9 days and I’m done and still have a couple days left. Is there any way to go ahead and have the baby? I don’t want to just sit around and wait.
You should be able to give birth early if you completed all the daily goals and support tasks, if you haven’t completed all these you cannot give birth until you do.
I have finished support tasks and daily goals but my sims is still pregnant. The game said that I have reached my sim limit but I used my LP to unlock sims. So Y is she still pregnant?
There is an issue with the sim count in this latest update, it says that a lot of players have reached their sim limit when they haven’t, you could contact the makers and see if they can fix this issue for you or wait for the next update as hopefully it will be fixed then
I destroyed the crib I stared the quest with I’ve completed but my aim is still pregnut and I can’t get rid of her baby bump anymore what can I do to fix it
The latest update just released should fix all issues regarding the pregnancy event, if you are still having these problems once you have updated your game you may need to contact the makers to see if they can fix this issue for you, this post explains how to contact them if you are unsure: https://thegirlwhogames.blog/2016/05/29/the-sims-freeplay-contacting-ea-firemonkeys/
Is there one 45,000 simoleon task everyday?
The price varies but yes there is one simoleon task a day
i have a glitch and my first pregnant sim is in her last trimester. i wasn’t able to complete all the goals yet, the event ended and my sim won’t give birth. i can’t delete her because she’s pregnant and i don’t know what to do.
You need to complete all the daily goals and support tasks before your sim can give birth, the time limit is just for the baby bonus.
After completing this quest, am I not allowed to add an adult sim to an existing house, like I was before the quest? Sometimes I like to add babies and adults, if that makes sense. Thanks!
Have you reached your sim count since you added the baby? If so then you will not be able to add another sim until you level up
What is baby bonus? Can your show some pictures?
If you complete all the daily goals every day and all the support tasks you will earn bonuses for that baby, they will earn more experience points when they complete actions, complete actions faster, are not affected by low motives (low needs) and they will have these bonuses for life! There is a picture under the goal ‘view baby bonus’ in this post: https://thegirlwhogames.blog/2018/06/18/the-sims-freeplay-a-bump-y-ride-quest/
I was doing the pregnancy quest and didn’t finish the support tasks in time and now she’s just stuck pregnant? What do I do how does she have the baby
You need to complete all the support tasks before your sim can give birth
I also completed the daily tasks, thought the support tasks were optional, so I did as many as I could. Task is over, the game said quest complete time to have the baby. Been 2 weeks since the quest ended & she’s still pregnant, no baby. Still have original crib in the same spot. I click on crib it says no room pay zero SP, because over VIP 10. I click the pay sp… Still no baby. This woman can’t do anything and I can’t delete her.
I know you’re gonna say have to finish support tasks but there’s no quest to access support tasks cuz quest ended.
This must be a glitch because you should be able to complete the support tasks to finish it before it disappears as the time limit was only for the baby bonus. The latest update released earlier this week should fix all issues regarding the pregnancy event, if you are still having these problems once you have updated your game you may need to contact the makers to see if they can fix this issue for you, this post explains how to contact them if you are unsure: https://thegirlwhogames.blog/2016/05/29/the-sims-freeplay-contacting-ea-firemonkeys/
My sim was finally able to have her baby. I don’t know what changed. I clicked lower on the crib and it worked. I don’t know if this is because I was clicking too high on the crib or if the glitch was fixed somehow by the game .
The new update fixed a lot of the issues with pregnancy.
after my baby was born, he is now shown as living in a completely different house and doesn’t have a surname! but his relationship tab says who his parents are, and when i’m controlling him and i click on one of them to interact it says they are his “mom” and “dad”.
i want to use the house he apparently “lives” in (by himself, which is conveniently next door to the house he is supposed to be living in, with his parents and uncle) for another sim and i can’t move her in (or anyone else even his family) because he lives there and i can’t move him out because hes only a baby. any way to fix this?
How strange, I suggest you contact the makers to see if they can fix this issue for you, this post explains how to contact them if you are unsure: https://thegirlwhogames.blog/2016/05/29/the-sims-freeplay-contacting-ea-firemonkeys/
I am on the third day of pregnancy event, but the pregnant sim’s belly doesn’t have a bump yet. Other sims can rub her belly, but it’s as small as others’.
Is it normal? Do I have to wait a few days for belly to get bigger?
Once you reach day 4 they will get the baby bump
