LEVEL UNLOCKS: 15 UNLOCKS: simtown express, downtown area and hospital profession workplace TIME LIMIT: 5 days PRIZE: toddler train conductor outfit

NOTE: if a pop up appears about this new quest click NOT NOW, if you do click YES and it takes you to downtown DO NOT BUILD THE HOSPITAL! Go back to simtown and build the simtown express first. If you build the hospital you will not be able to get back to downtown to complete construction on the hospital and will be unable to build the simtown express as the hospital is being built. If you have built the hospital early contact the makers to see if they can fix this issue for you

To begin this discovery quest you need to build the simtown express (this is located on the bottom left of town next to the restaurant) If you complete this quest in the time limit you will unlock the toddler train conductor outfit, if you don’t complete in the time you will still unlock the simtown express and downtown but you won’t get the outfit

You cannot complete this quest at the same time as any other discovery quest

HOW LONG DOES THIS QUEST TAKE TO COMPLETE?

Times may vary depending on the star rating an item has

Call the train company- 48 seconds (using a phone)

Meet Thomas, the tiny conductor- 15 minutes

Ask about safety lessons- 2 hours 15 minutes (Thomas)

Read a book about trains- 8 hours 30 minutes (using a bookshelf)

Find a snack for Thomas- 1 hour 50 minutes (using a fridge)

Ask for safety lesson 1- 5 minutes (Thomas)

Demonstrate single seating- 10 hours (click on a seat)

Ask for safety lesson 2- 5 minutes (Thomas)

Send a sim to the park
Watch the train demonstration- 14 hours 45 minutes (train set in park)

Ask for safety lesson 3- 5 minutes (send a sim home and find Thomas)

Stand behind the yellow line- 16 hours 45 minutes (appears at the front of the house you are at)

Search for the train key- 1 hour 50 minutes (bed)

Apologise to Thomas- 6 hours 15 minutes

Give cookies to Thomas- 1 minute (Thomas)
Ask for final lesson- 5 minutes (Thomas)

Practice holding on- 1 day (click on Thomas)

Guess Thomas’s age- 1 hour 15 minutes (I don’t think it matters which one you pick but he does say he is 5 and 3/4 earlier on!)

How do I start this discovery quest?
Build the simtown express to start this quest

Why can’t I do this discovery quest yet?
You cannot do more than one discovery quest at the same time, if you are currently on another one (the list can be found here) you will not be able to do this one until that one is completed

Help! I have built the hospital before the simtown express now I cannot build the simtown express, what should I do?You will need to contact the makers so they can fix this issue for you

Can I do discovery quests at the same time as a main quest?
Yes you can

Do I have to do this quest?
If you don’t start building the simtown express you don’t have to do this quest at all but if you have already started building or started this quest you need to complete it before you can move on to the next quest

I haven’t started this quest yet, will it still be available when I want to do it?
Yes it will be, you can choose to start it whenever you like

I can’t complete the train demonstration, why?
Thomas needs to be at the park to be able to complete this, if he isn’t, go back to the house he was last at, find him and then go back to the park. If he still doesn’t arrive at the park, click on the whistle on the simtracker to bring him there.

What do I get if I complete this quest in the time limit?
Toddler train conductor outfit, the one that Thomas wears in this quest

What happens if I don’t complete in the time limit, can I still finish this quest?
Yes you have to finish it to unlock the downtown area and hospital before you can move onto the next quest

I didn’t complete in the time limit, can I restart the quest?
No, you cannot redo quests

Can I still get the prize if I don’t complete in the time limit?
No, the only way to get the limited time prizes is by completing the quest in the time limit

I don’t like this quest! Can I just skip it?
No, you have to complete this quest before you can move onto the next one now that you have started it, if you don’t start building the simtown express you don’t have to do this quest but once it is built the quest will begin

The Sims Freeplay- How Much Time Does Each Quest Take To Complete?

I have been asked many times if I could add to each post how long each quest takes to complete if you did each task back to back, I decided it would be easier to just list them all in one post, that way I can just add a link to each post.

THIS MAY NOT BE ACCURATE FOR YOU- Four things to remember:

You may be using a lower star rated item (which takes longer) so this will not be as accurate for you
If a quest involves building a place I cannot add in how long it will take because the time taken depends on how many buildings you already have built, this will be stated next to the time on this post
Times may change- every update each quest seems to change slightly so the times may not be accurate if no one has told me of the changes to a quest I cannot update this post (all times are correct for the latest version I have posted)
Some quests have two versions at the moment so please read the quest post to find out which version you have

Bread Winner– 16 minutes 21 seconds

Money Grows on Trees– 1 hour

Love Is In The Air:

Version 1- 44 minutes 43 seconds
Version 2- 14 hours 24 minutes 46 seconds

Neither version includes time taken to build the community center as it varies depending on how many places you have already built

Teenagers:

Version 1- 2 days 19 hours 35 minutes 42 seconds

There was only one difference between versions for this quest so you may have noticed only one version is shown in the post, the only difference is the task talk to a tree on a housing lot, in version 1 it takes 5 hours 30 minutes and in version 2 it takes 12 hours

Higher Education:

Version 1- 1 day 20 hours 26 minutes 30 seconds
Version 2- 2 days 15 hours 56 minutes 30 seconds

Neither version includes time taken to build the town hall if you haven’t already as it varies depending on how many places you have already built

The Pirate and His Goddess:

Version 1- 2 days 17 hours 23 minutes 42 seconds

Time limit- 4 days

Version 2- 5 days 11 hours 46 minutes 30 seconds

The back to back times for this quest only go up to write a song as it is impossible to say how long it will take you to complete the rest of the tasks as for those you need to complete the teen idol hobby

Time limit- 6 days

Ghost Hunters:

Version 1- 2 days 18 hours 3 minutes 25 seconds

LEVEL UNLOCKS: 11 UNLOCKS: romantic furniture and submit houses feature TIME LIMIT: 2 days PRIZE: hot tub

This quest unlocks the ability to submit your houses for a chance for them to be added to the architect houses tab so other players can build them! Find the realtor in the park to begin this quest. If you complete in the time limit you will unlock the hot tub, you can still complete this quest once the time is up to unlock the romantic furniture and the ability to submit your houses but you won’t get the hot tub

You cannot complete this quest at the same time as any other discovery quest

HOW LONG DOES THIS QUEST TAKE TO COMPLETE?

Times may vary depending on the star rating an item has and whether a sim is inspired or not.

Ask Lucius about hubbub- 1 minute [inspired: 57 secs]

Go to work at the real estate (click on the pulsing suitcase of a sim who is a real estate agent) NOTE: keep them at work so you can see the sign for the next task

Read a real estate sign- 6 hours 30 minutes [inspired: 6 hrs 11 mins] (the sign will appear by the mailbox once a sim has gone to work as a real estate agent)

Discuss home takeover with a sim- 1 minute [inspired: 57 secs] (select the interaction between two sims)
Search for well groomed sim on simbook- 9 hours (computer)

Extend or build a room
Have a sim take a selfie- 10 seconds [inspired: 9 secs] (click on currently selected sim)

Post selfie on Lucius’s Sim Book- 6 hours

Become incensed- 2 minutes [inspired: 1 min 54 secs]

Check fine print on a sign- 12 hours 30 minutes [inspired: 11 hrs 53 mins] (the sign will appear by the mailbox once a sim has gone to work as a real estate agent again)

Buy an item from the home store
Submit house via sign (you don’t even need to submit at this stage, just click on the sign then click the green arrow to complete the task, if you don’t do it now you can submit a house later- make sure a sim is at work as a real estate agent first so you can see the sign)

QUEST IS COMPLETE!

Submit your home for a chance for it to be featured in the architect tab so anyone who plays can build your house! Click here for more information on this feature

Prize: Hot Tub

Where can it be found? In the outdoor furniture section

Cost? First one is free then cost S65,000

Is the prize worth it? This quest is really easy to complete in the time limit, as long as you have a sim to go to work as a real estate agent when you need to click on the sign! The hot tub is fairly expensive but I do think it is worth completing in time to unlock it as the first one is free!

If you don’t complete in the time limit you will still receive the romantic beds, seats and fairy lights:

Beds can be found in the bedroom section and cost S17,500 each

Fairy lights can be found in the lighting section and cost S21,000

Romantic seats can be found in the outdoor furniture section and cost S15,00 each

The hot tub prize isn’t free, it will cost you S65,000

Yes you have to finish it to unlock the option to submit your houses and romantic furniture before you can move onto the next quest

To begin this discovery quest you need to find the puppy in the park. If you complete this quest in the time limit you will unlock the puppy and kitten outfits, you can still complete this quest once the time limit is up to unlock the puppies, kittens and hobbies but you won’t get the outfits

You cannot complete this quest at the same time as any other discovery quest

HOW LONG DOES THIS QUEST TAKE TO COMPLETE?

Are you currently completing the An Alien Concept: Weather Machines Quest? Don’t start this one yet! They both need Osiris to complete

Say hello to the small dog- 1 minute

Call for the puppy- 5 minutes

Pet the small dog in the park- 45 minutes

Read the puppy’s collar- 5 minutes

Wait for the owner at the park- 9 hours (bench)

Pick up the puppy- 4 seconds

Return home with the puppy

click the house with arrow button on simtracker

Let the puppy on the ground- 3 seconds (click on sim holding the puppy)

Check lost puppy ads on a computer- 9 hours

Buy a food dish (S5,000 from pet section)

Check a refrigerator for puppy food- 4 minutes

Place puppy food in the dish- 1 minute

Read a book on puppies- 19 hours

Check voice messages- 4 minutes (phone)

Call back the number- 4 minutes (phone)

Sit with the puppy- 19 hours (pick the puppy up then click on the couch) NOTE: if you cannot find the puppy, you will need to contact the makers to see if they can fix this for you

Completing this quest also unlocks two hobbies; Puppy Pals which is the timed 7 day hobby that starts as soon as you complete this quest (buy a puppy from the pet store and the Puppy Play Mat from promotions r us and place in the house with the puppy to start this hobby) and Internet Kitten which doesn’t have a time limit to complete (buy a kitten from the pet store and the Kitten Play Box from promotions r us and place in the house with the kitten to start this hobby)

Frequently Asked Questions about Discovery Quests

Can I do discovery quests at the same time as a main quest?
Yes you can

Why can’t I do a discovery quest yet?
You cannot do more than one discovery quest at the same time, if you are currently on another one you will not be able to do this one until that one is completed

Do I have to do a discovery quest?
If you don’t start a discovery quest you don’t have to do it at all but if you have already started it you need to complete it before you can move on to the next quest

I haven’t started a discovery quest yet, will it still be available when I want to do it?
Yes it will be, you can choose to start discovery quests whenever you like, there is no rush!

I didn’t complete in the time limit, can I restart the quest?
No, you cannot redo quests

Can I still get the prize if I don’t complete a quest in the time limit?
No, the only way to get the limited time prizes is by completing the quest in the time limit

I don’t like this quest! Can I just skip it?
No, you have to complete this quest before you can move onto the next one

What do you mean when you say a goal can be started early?
Any goal that you can normally do can be started early because you will have access to it and any goal that you can’t normally do you will have to wait until you get the goal to be able to complete it
The tip with this method is to put the sim doing that action early in a different house that you cannot go to until you get that goal or it will not work

Some times are slightly different on my game, why is this?
Times may vary depending on the star rating of the item you are using as the higher star rating an item has the quicker you will complete a goal

Some times are really off/ different goals show for me, why is this?
This will be because the quest has been updated recently, I try my best to keep the posts up to date but it is difficult as I cannot redo every quest each time the game is updated. If you notice any changes please let me know so I can update the post
