The Sims Freeplay- Adding, Using and Changing the Paving on In-Ground Spas

Early Access to Beta Provided by EA/ Firemonkeys (Presented by EA GameChangers)

If you complete the Poolside Paradise Live Event (starts 7th May) in the time limit you will unlock In-Ground Spas which can be placed on any empty space outside your sims houses, this post guides you through how to add the spas, how to change their paving and how to use them.

1.You firstly need to complete the Poolside Paradise Live Event to unlock the spas, if you haven’t completed it yet you need to wait for the event to return so you have another chance to finish it.

2.Place an in-ground spa from the tab in the outdoors sections of buy mode. You can choose from the Small Square Spa or the Rectangular Spa:

3.You can now change the paving, there isn’t a spa paving tab but you can use any paving from the pool paving tab. Select the paving you want to use and click on the spa then on the green tick to change the paving:

Using a Spa

You will get 3 options when you click on a spa, turn on/off (click turn on to make it all bubbly) and quick relax for 24 minutes or completely unwind for 1 hour 40 minutes. Select the option you want your sims to do and they can chill out for a bit! Only teenagers, adults and seniors can use the spa

How many sims can fit in a spa? The Small Square Spa fits 4 sims and the Rectangular Spa fits 6 sims

This house can be built on a standard or premium residence, you will find this under the driveway homes tab when selecting which house to build. The first one is free then they cost simoleons depending on how many houses you have already built. You can add up to 4 cars to this house lot!

The other three car parking spaces need to be unlocked by purchasing with simoleons:

  • Additional Space One: S250,000
  • Additional Space Two: S750,000
  • Additional Space Three: S1,500,000

Once you purchase an additional space you will be able to add another car but you need to have more than one adult/senior sim living in this house to add more than one car otherwise it will just switch their car to the new one you have just brought. For example if you wanted 3 cars in this house you need 3 adult or senior sims living in this house.

The only difference between this house on a standard and a premium residence is the garden, there is outdoor furniture behind the bungalow. You will find the in-ground spa available on both the standard and premium residence which can be moved:

Completing this event also unlocks the in-ground spas in the store (check out my post on how to add and use the spas here) as well as Grey Concrete pool and patio paving, Tall Oak Slats (window), Oak Slats Double (door), Black Cube Partition, Black Fan and Gold Rubix Mirror Double (decorations) Oak Sunside Table (dining room) Black Danging Lamp (lighting) and Oak Floorboards (flooring)

Constructor Coins

You earn constructor coins by:

Personal Progress prizes

Completing Daily Goals

Coin Plant Patches

Earning Constructor Coins? Previously on these events I used social points on the Mega Spin Plant to win constructor points. I earn social points by completing the cooking hobby and earning LPs, I can then turn the LPs into SPs using the social point plant on a normal garden patch- this was when it cost 5LPs- the social point plant now costs 20LPs so you may want to try the option below first instead:

Or you can use 450 candles for the Spin Plant (a good way to use up any spare candles) which will also earn you constructor coins but the amounts are less than they are from the Mega Spin Plant

What is the minimum and maximum amount of coins you can earn on the mega spin plant? The minimum is 10 and the maximum is 500

Now on the coin flower patch you can see the chances of getting the different combinations on each spin plant, click on the green i button to see:

Laura Craft? You may have noticed at the front of one of your houses there is a board with a bubble of a person holding arts and crafts items above it, this is Laura Craft, you can buy her for real money to help you complete the event. When you buy her, you select the item you want her to make from the options: 200 candles,  300 pottery, 450 jewelry or 500 glassware (the amounts seem to differ for most of you and I have no idea why that is!) (you will unlock all the options once you have unlocked all the stations) and you will be able to collect them after 2 hours.

Do I think she is worth it? They have improved Laura Craft a lot since the first event (although it would be great if she made constructor coins) she used to be able to collect every 8 hours, they have now changed this to 2 hours so she is more useful now so if you are struggling then you may want to splash out and give her a try but remember you will only get her for this event, you will have to buy her again to use her for a live event in the future. I personally don’t ever buy her, if I don’t manage to earn enough items or coins in the time limit I just wait until the next time the event is available!

If I brought Laura Craft in the last event do I get her for free or do I have to buy her again? You have to buy her again for this event.

Check out my Guide to Completing Live Events (including tips!) HERE!

If I don’t complete this event this time will I have to start from the beginning when it returns? No, you will start from where you got to this time!

The Sims Freeplay- Completing a Pregnancy Event [TIPS & MY EXPERIENCE]

The makers of The Sims Freeplay have recently increased the amount of sims needed to complete the support tasks in pregnancy events, they were hard enough anyway so I wanted to see if it was possible to complete a 9 day pregnancy event now. Below you can find a list of the daily goals and support tasks I had to complete each day and my times for completing them but firstly I wanted to share some tips on how to complete pregnancy events in the time limit to earn the baby bonus.

Check out my Guide to Pregnancy if you want to know more about how to start pregnancy events

Tips for Completing Pregnancy Events:

  • Start the pregnancy event at a time you will be able to open the game every day, for example if you start at 6pm on the Thursday you will need to complete all the goals for day 1 before 6pm on the Friday to keep on track and because you have 24 hours if you can start the next day at exactly 6pm you have a better chance of completing the goals in the 24 hour period.
  • Complete the daily goals in the order best for you, you don’t have to complete them in the order shown so take a look at each daily goal on the list (stuck on how to complete a daily goal? click here to see my list of daily goals and support tasks)- if you can check back soon do a short one but if you are going to bed do a longer one
  • Have as many sims as possible completing the support tasks at the same time (they have made this so much harder recently by increasing the amount of sims needed) if the task needs 15 sims then if you have 15 sims free make sure you use them all to complete the task at the same time (don’t use the pregnant sim though, they need to complete all the daily goals) make sure you check a few times that you have enough sims completing the task so you don’t have to waste any time redoing the task for one sim you missed!
  • Have all your sims completing the support tasks in the same two houses with all the items you need, this way you aren’t wasting any time between tasks:

  • Set a timer on your phone for when the task will complete so you know when to check back in and start the next one
  • Use 3 star items (if possible) 3 star items give you the shortest amount of time to complete the task (I was using 2 star computers and phones for the support tasks but you will save yourself a few minutes if you can use only 3 star items)
  • Keep an eye on the support tasks milestones bar, it should be in line with where you are on the daily goals so you know you are on track:

Check out my Guide to Pregnancy if you want to know more about how to start pregnancy events

I have documented my experience completing a pregnancy event below to give you some idea of the sort of goals you will get but remember that the tasks and times will differ for you, you will get any combination of goals from this list

ST= Support Tasks (these tasks are completed by any sim, all these have to be completed a number of times)
DG= Daily Goals (these have to be completed by the pregnant sim)

Day 1– 9:12am

ST– Sew Clothes: 15 times-3 hours 20 minutes

I was completing the Daring Do’s Event so I had to stop this with most of my sims to start the support tasks

DG– Consider Simvitation designs for the baby shower on a couch- 1 hour

10:13am DG– Throw up in a toilet. Thank you morning sickness!- 1 hour 50 minutes

I had to use another sim who was completing the Daring Do’s Event to have 8 pairs of sims completing this this time around. I am already frustrated with how ridiculous they have made this task, this was before the patch update that was meant to make this task easier but you will see later on after the patch was meant to happen I got the exact same task again

3:31pm DG– Relax on a couch and consider baby names- 2 hours 40 minutes

5:17pm ST– 8 sims finished ‘Share parenting advice with another sim’, need to complete 8 more times now

This was the day I was completely fed up with this pregnancy event, I always get the short tasks when I want to sleep and when I wake in the morning I get long tasks!! You may have seen me post my frustration on Instagram and Twitter:

12:23am ST (76% complete) Share parenting advice with another sim: 16 times- 4 hours 35 minutes

AGAIN this task required 16 pairs of sims (32 sims in total) which is more sims than I had available and more sims than most people have in their town! I got this goal after the patch update was meant to be released so I am annoyed that it still requires so many sims, I’m guessing they only changed it for those who needed 20 sims to complete this task. 16 pairs of sims is still unreasonable and I am still going to need to complete this twice! I put 10 pairs of sims on to complete this so let’s just hope it doesn’t glitch this time!!

7:15am Daily Goals complete! 1,240 Maternity Tokens earned

ST– 10 sims finished ‘Share parenting advice with another sim’, need to complete 6 more times now

2:56pm Support Task Milestone reached! 5,880 Maternity Tokens earned

ST (82% complete) Like Simterest Post: 19 times- 3 hours

5:14pm DG– Ask another sim to help check RSVPs for the baby shower- 30 seconds

DG– Ask another sim to photograph belly- 4 hours 15 minutes

6:00pm ST (85% complete) Practice calming a tired sim: 16 times- 6 hours 30 minutes

9:30pm DG– Bake a ‘baby shower cake’ in an oven- 5 hours

11:00pm Bedtime- will be up in an hour to complete the Support Task

I am completely amazed that I actually managed to complete this pregnancy event in the time limit, it was a very long 9 days and to be honest I was a bit fed up with the whole thing from day 1 when I got the share parenting advice goal and my annoyance continued throughout the week especially each time I woke up in the middle of the night to complete a task. I was able to complete this event without any SP as I could freely check the game most of the time during the 9 days, if I was having a normal week then this would not have been at all possible. For the average player I just cannot see how this is at all achievable, it was bad enough before but now they have increased the amount of sims needed for all the support tasks and increased the cost of the Doctor’s appointments and Yoga Sessions it seems to be impossible without spending SP- which is obviously the point! I don’t know what is going on at EA right now but this game is becoming as money grabbing as The Sims Mobile, I know that they need to make money to pay their staff but making events impossible pushes players away, it does not make them spend money.

Will I be completing another Pregnancy Event anytime soon? No! I think I might actually dislike them more than live events and that is saying something!

Baby Bonus Explained

As I completed all the Daily Goals and Support Tasks in the time limit my new baby has earned the baby bonus which means they complete actions faster and earn more XP and they also don’t suffer from low motives which means if they won’t be grumpy if their needs haven’t been fulfilled. They keep these bonuses for life and you can tell if a sim has the baby bonus as there is a gold ring around their picture on the simtracker:

The Sims Freeplay- Chocolatier Special Hobby Event

THIS EVENT IS OVER

The time limited chocolatier hobby event to unlock the gingerbread furniture is back from the 25th March but it is only available for 7 days. You need to complete the chocolatier hobby collection 7 times in the time limit to unlock all the gingerbread furniture packs.

If you completed this event last time you will not get it again, if you unlocked some of the packs last time you will only have to find the ones you have left, for example, if you unlocked 6 packs you will only have to complete the hobby one more time to get the last pack

Click here to see all the prizes

You need to firstly accept this event, click yes then you can buy a chocolatier bench from the promotions r us store if you haven’t already:

It can then be found in your inventory under hobby and career items so you can place it in your house. Once placed you can select ‘make chocolate’ for 3 hours 15 minutes:

Never completed this hobby before? Read my Chocolatier Hobby post here

12 CHOCOLATES= 1 GINGERBREAD FURNITURE PACK

TIPS FOR FINDING THEM ALL IN THE TIME LIMIT:

  • Buy as many chocolatier benches as possible, the maximum is 15 so you could have 15 sims completing this hobby at once
  • Have a sim in a neighbours town if they have a chocolatier bench so you can have an extra sim working on it
  • Have at least one sim working on getting to level 6 so all chocolates are unlocked (you only need one sim to reach level 6) you may need to use LPs to speed your way through the levels- I waited until the time was 1 hour 59 minutes and used 1 LP to speed up one sim so they reached level 6
  • If you do want to speed it up, wait at least 15 minutes until the timer is 2 hours 59 minutes or below then it will only cost you 2LP instead of 3! This post may help if you want a quick way to earn LP
  • Remember to click ‘start new collection’ on the top of the hobby collection list once you have got all the pieces otherwise you won’t find any new items, this post explains how to do that
  • Most importantly: just keep going! I know it’s annoying when you get the same one constantly but you will eventually get the ones you need
