The Sims Freeplay- 15 Ways To Make Money and LPs!

I always get asked “how do I make money and LPs quickly?” so I have come up with a list of the main ways you can make money and LPs!

  1. Buy them– you could always buy them if you are struggling, if you were to buy one of them I would go for LPs over simoleons as LPs are harder to make!
  2. Level up– when you level up you get LPs. You can level up quicker by reaching relationship milestones that give you 100+XPs and by completing rows in hobby collections
  3. Complete goals– each goal you complete gives you a reward, whether it’s money, LPs or XPs and when you complete a selection of the weekly goals you receive more money and LPs.
  4. Increase town value– you receive LPs when you reach certain values!
  5. Garden and bake– if all of your sims are gardening you can earn loads of simoleons. If you are busy put your sims on gardening and baking tasks for that length of time, e.g. While you are sleeping make all your sims plant beans for 9 hours. Or if you have a spare hour or so you could set up a plant growing plot for lots of your sims as shown below and grow some carrots or corn over and over to make even more money! Remember if sims are inspired they earn more money!

  6. Pets finding treasure– the more expensive the pet the more likely they will find LPs but they mostly find simoleons
  7. Go to work– the more they go to work the more money they will make as they get promoted
  8. Party boat– the more neighbours you have the more prizes you get, you mostly get simoleons from this but it is possible to get LPs
  9. Competition center– this will give you a certain hobby and you enter a sim who has the highest level in that hobby for 24 hours and it will give you a position and a reward, if you are first you will get 3 LPs! You still get a reward wherever you are placed in the competition.
  10. Bingo hall– you can enter your seniors in this for a day, I have never won at bingo yet though!
  11. Hobbies– you get simoleons for finding a new piece and once you’ve completed the collections to collect the main prizes, complete it again for an LP reward! The cooking hobby is my favourite because you can make lots of money and LPs relatively quickly with several of your sims working on it at once!   12. Collect revenue from car drives– if you buy the 1 story mansion you get a free car with it, you can use that to drive about town, click on the music notes and collect the money- the more expensive the car the more likely you will find LPs
  13. Daily reward– the mailbox gives you simoleons every 24 hours, the amount is based on your town value, the higher your value the more money you get but there is a limit on this
  14. Money from houses (house revenue)- click on the money and XPs signs on the town map for simoleons
  15. Free Simoleons/ LPs/ SPs from the paperboy- a paperboy appears in your town with a film reel in a bubble above his head, click on this to watch an advert, once you have watched it you will earn either furniture, simoleons, LPs or SPs! 

Don’t cheat! Using the time cheat is more trouble than it is worth, if you use it other things will go wrong with your game, for example:

  • Buildings take longer to build
  • Daily rewards don’t arrive
  • Babies take longer to arrive

It is possible to get lots of money and LPs without cheating, you just have to work hard.

This method still works but they have unhelpfully made the social point flower cost 20LPs now instead of 5 so a bit more cooking is needed!

  1. I would just add to this that I got a whole lot of LPs by completing the weekly goals and saving up my keys until I had 10.

  5. Hey, I finished my weekly goals for this week and I am still continuing to do the quests even if it’s already 100%. Should I continue doing that? Or wait again next week to earn the rewards?

    But my question is: yesterday I changed the hour just to dee I did not play much and after that I turned the hour to the correct time, will I find out those consequences? And if I do, how do I stoo them?

    • If you didn’t want the consequences you shouldn’t have used the time cheat, this post does tell you some of the problems that can occur with your game but if you didn’t play much it should be okay 🙂

  8. Hi I’m Hermione, Your website is awesome btw! Here’s the question: My pre-teen was at home and I clicked on the stove and it said this item can only be used by Seniors, adults and teenagers..so I invited my teenager over and clicked on the stove and it did nothing… is this the same for everyone or is there a way for my teens to cook?

  10. This requires a bit of money at the start, but I have a house put aside with only ‘haunted’ objects. The entire house is filled with them. I have about 8 sims all hunting for ghosts at the same time. You get simoleons and or lifepoints when you hunt the ghosts (three taps- three chances for either lp or simoleons), lifepoints for leveling up your hobby skills and 5 lps for getting all the ghosts. When there’s a couple of them hunting all at once, it’s rather quick.

  11. This is bad… really bad!!! After weeks of trying 2 save simoleons to build the stables I have given up, therefore I went to the online shop to buy the £2.99 package but I only had 3 options!!! The cheapest one cost 13.99!!!! . I am lvl 29 and also can’t buy social points and LPs!!! Is there anyway to get the 3.00 option back? 😥 😦

    • That’s really annoying :/ there isn’t alot I can do really, if it isn’t avaliable anymore you can’t get it back. Personally I wouldn’t bother buying simoleons, just get all of your sims planting! And take your time, after all if you rush through all of the quests you will probably get bored of the game once they are over 😛
      Sorry but I always reply as soon as I can, I do have loads of other things to do so I can’t always reply as soon as you comment 🙂

      • I suppose your right! I’ll keep them planting! Btw I wasn’t saying you don’t normally reply quickly.. in fact you always reply super quickly!!!!
        Also, is there anyway for ny ghost hunting Sims to level up any faster Bcuz I can only find the 3min 30secs option!
        I get LP from completing hobby collections!

      • You just have to do the 3 minute ghost hunting over and over, if you have a free hour just do that and they will soon level up- its annoying that there is no long option for this!

      • Ikr I will spend some time on them levelling up! Also…. is it just me or has the price of adding a second story gone down?

      • Okay, so the price for building a second level is still the same as it always was for me (300,000 simoleons), and I still have the free button thingy, did I miss an update and not have the version available or something? Or have I just missed a lot? (I have the “need for steed” quest available, and the one with pools -version)

      • I dont think the second story price changed that much, it just reduced from 1,000,000
        The free button is back now so you haven’t missed anything 🙂

    Yeah, I use these techniques a lot. I’m really close to level 12, and I have 79,000 simoleons at the moment. I’m saving up for the two-story mansion when I’m level 17. I’m also saving LPs for any extra things I might like 😉

  15. I know you posted things about gardening to make money but this is my strategy :
    Choose a sim house and go into it
    Buy as many garden plots as you have sims( not including people who can’t garden exp. tots)
    Place those in rows and have all your sims over to garden

    Also garden beans overnight

  16. Hey. Name’s Shadow, not lying, but uh I’m level 6 just started Sims(awesome!) I need to know how to get a good house fast like the designer house 32 l.p. but I’m stuck with the cheap house, I need simoleans but I have to sell stuff in other homes. I need help to get more and planting takes to long, what do I do? YOUR BLOG IS AWESOME!!!! 😉

    • Well this post you have commented on has all of the ways to make money, but you are never going to get the designer house on level 6- it takes a lot of time and effort to make a really great sim town! 🙂

      • Well I have a friend who has the designer house and he didn’t have to pay for them using real money. Instead he seemed to have watched videos and did ftee offers and whatever and seemed to get l.p. and got simoleans so put that on your blog. It will help. Currently I have made 26 l.p. SERIOUSLY PEOPLE WATCH VIDEOS!!!!!!! so far i’ve watched rr3, Simpson, and bejewled but after that, u have to complete offers

  18. I just noticed that on the town map if you tap very rapidly on the free simoleans or xp (3 to 5 times depending on how fast your fingers are) you can double, triple etc your bonuses 🙂

  19. I am on level 10, I have 13 thousand something simoleans but my sister keeps on buying useless stuff for her house so I don’t think I’ll ever be able to do the Need For Steed Quest or whatever.

  21. OMG NONE of my neighbors have a mirror to complete the “practice speech in mirror, task.. IDK what. To do( I EVEN TRIED TO BY A MIRROR AND PUT IT IN ANOTHER ONE OF MY SIMS HOME)!!! Nope sooooo doesn’t work

  23. Firstly I think they should have the Lotus plant free at Least Once a day. And what would be wrong with adding a new kind a plant that gives a chance to get SP at a neighboring town? Maybe this can be suggested to EA. I mean getting SP by doing tasks only is not a very likely way to stock up. And some nicest furniture costs sp or lp. That should be changed also….pay simoleans OR lp/sp. Thanks and don’t ever quit this blog.

I know you already have the option “Collect revenue from car drives” but there’s an additional twist to this one… Your teen can learn to drive using the car which does require another adult to be with them but it lasts for 6 hours (as opposed to the regular driving time of 3 minutes). During those six hours you can get A LOT of extra simoleons (not sure about LPs as I haven’t gotten any but I would assume they too could show up). Just wanted to mention it. Thanks for all your hard work!

    • Also I have a neighbors who has a LOT of pets, she said when she began playing there were no limits to how many pets a household can have. So when I’m there doing SP goals I ‘hang out’ at this home and just pop the little balloons from the animals ( even deer) And I collected maybe 40 lp in an hour, and tons of money, couldn’t count that, but if you can fine someone with pet farm it’s a great income method.

I would like to add that when I recently started playing this game, I did not find the stray dog as stated in one of your walkthroughs. I don’t know if I did something wrong lol.

  28. First I want to say I find your blog a wealth of information. Especially the quest quides and value of the prize.

    I also wanted to mentioned, for those looking to save up, I purposely didn’t complete Need For Steed on time and then spent days just having my Sims garden and work, etc to save up in anticipation for A Quest for Toddlers. I will probably do that again on quests either with ‘lame’ rewards, or ones I won’t finish in time. Doing this I did level up quickly though (level 23 and about to finish Quest for Toddlers).

  30. I visit my neightbour (who have the bonus-makers on the mysterious island) I’ve 4 chances to get 490xp and/or 490§ at MY neighbour in 30 sec just by seed bell peppers:-)

    • Mine excellent neighbour is Thea Thomas (Gamecenter: 4chinate I find her at your “I want neighbours”) and now it is 540§ I got when I “win” money 🙂 this my fastest way for making money 🙂 the chance to get 4120§ pr minute if you plant bellpeppers is FANTASTIC!!!

  31. I have to give you cuddos for the time you have put into helping others enjoy the game. As a former simsoholic, I have relapsed recently with sims freeplay and enjoying it so far. Your blog helped out in setting things in motion and now I don’t feel the “poor sim” struggle anymore. I know some simmers out there still struggle, so this is how I rack my mula. I plant beans when I go to sleep, make sims go to work when I work, and I spend an hour or two in the afternoon cooking (not for realz! lol) I have to say that cooking is the single most efficient way to get LPs fast. I put 10 people in one house, make them all cook toast for 1 min, and in as little as 15 minutes you can get 5 LPs. (you get a finger tapping marathon going) I do not even bother cleaning up…. I have plates EVERYWHERE, but I give my sims plenty of room so it doesn’t get on the way. As soon as a sim tops the cooking skill, I change hobbies then go back to cooking. So I get the rewards all over again (you get an LP when a sim reaches level six) … multiply by 10 cooking at once – yeap that’s the math. Also actor and athlete are my top choices for careers (top dollar for less hours). I always make sure that my # of sims are maxed out, and as soon as I get a new sim, I head over to the club. It is the best way to build relationships fast! so more XP = faster level ups = monies and lps. Anyway -hope this helps!

    • Yep cooking as a hobby and actor as a career are my choices too, I studied all careers and hobbies and these seem to be the most profitable so far. I have a sim for every other hobby and career too so I can use for competing and tasks. Driving with more sims at once is also good to get lp but cooking seems to be the fastest one if you’ve got some time to spear.

  34. If I have to move time forwards or backwards once every 6 months to keep my time normal will it count as the time cheat? I really hope not

    • I have told you how to get a 3 star bed already, did you read my reply?
      Go to the buy mode (where you buy items), go to the bedroom section, there you will find beds, they all have stars next to them, you need to find one with 3 stars and then buy it and place it in your house.

  36. Completed need for steed quest but did not get the mirror. Is there a way I can still get it?

  40. Hi! Just curious if you’ve ran across this, as hard as I tried i did not complete the fashion making quest with the hair styles rewards. I did complete some but not all. My problem is when I click the button that shows up all my quests like renovations etc, weekly, and neighboring I still have a bar that says complete the 3rd outfit set for the hairstyle but I’ve don’t it countless times and it won’t go away it doesn’t show up with any rewards underneath like it did when I had time left but it has been ages I would think it would disappear by now!! So annoying, anyway I’m sure it’s probably a glitch.. Let me know if you’ve heard of this or have any suggestions thanks!! 😊

  42. Why is it that some of my SIMS earn more money for planting crops? Eg one SIM earns 48 for planting carrots in 5 minutes, others only earn 32?

  44. I’ve been playing for almost 4 weeks. I am on level 19 with 17 sims. This is my strategy for making money. I send all my Sims to work while I am sleeping and when I wake up I set all of them (except for those on special tasks) to garden. If I know I am in class or working for a certain amount of time I find some veg or fruit to match that time. Then, when I have a free 30 minutes or hour I start planting carrots and I have a Sim drive a 3 star car around and collect LP’s and cash. I earn about 125-185 simoleons per car ride. This is more money than planting carrots for 5 minutes (48), but growing carrots every 5 minutes earns more per hour than an hour+ plant. So, I drive the car around twice and then go collect carrot plants and start all over. I have collected 4-6 LP’s driving the car around just 10 times. I have even earned 2 LP’s in one drive. So, this can be very lucrative all the way around. However, you have to be diligent and have extra time.

  45. Ok so I have a task to buy a 3 star chair but it cost 2 lp I have no lp though….. and I have had this as a weekly quest for 2 week now…. any idea on what I could do?

  47. My favorite way to make Lp’s is having a toddler collect toys at the swimming pool. After collecting the entire collection, just click play again. The reward for finishing that one is 6 LP’s. I will always have that toddler and won’t age him like the other kids. I love having a toddler that can pull his weight! Lol
