This is the first quest in the game, quests unlock new content and main quests have to be completed in order. This quest unlocks from level 6 and shows us how the cooking hobby works, once completed you will be able to earn LP quickly by completing the hobby

- Watch SimChef on TV- 1 minute 30 seconds [inspired: 1 min 8 secs]
- Buy a stove (kitchen section, after fridges costs S350)
- Cook Bacon and Eggs on a stove- 5 minutes
you will find an item for the cooking hobby collection when you click on the bubble above your sims head once they have finished cooking
- Grab a plate of Bacon and Eggs- 5 minutes (select the option on the plate) [inspired: 4 min 45 secs]
- Clean up: Wash the dishes- 3 seconds (click on dish, select clean up)
- Search a bookcase- 2 minutes [inspired: 1 min 52 sec] (1 star bookcase already in first house)
- Buy a toaster (kitchen section, after coffee machines, 1 star costs S750)
- Cook cheese and tomato on toast- 1 minute
if you use the same sim to cook both times you will reach level two in the cooking hobby
- Have 2 sims in the same house: Invite a sim over (click on the whistle next to a sim who isn’t busy on the simtracker)
- Call to meal (click on plate of cheese and toast)
- Daydream on a couch- 1 minute 48 seconds [inspired: 1 min 42 secs]

You need to complete the tutorial and reach level 6 before you can start this quest
Can I complete this quest even though I have passed level 5?
Yes, you just need to complete the tutorial then this quest will start automatically
I don’t get the option to watch SimChef on tv, why?
You will not get the option until you get the goal when the quest starts
Why can’t I buy a toaster?
You need to place a toaster on a counter or table, it won’t let you buy it if you try to put it on the floor
I can’t make cheese on toast, why?
You need to have a stove and a toaster in your house to be able to make cheese on toast
Why do blue footprints appear when I try to use an item?
Blue footprints appear when your sim cannot access an item you want them to use, you need to either rotate the item or move an item that has been placed in front of it so they can use it
How do I invite a sim over?
Click on the whistle next to a sim who isn’t busy on the simtracker, this post explains more about the simtracker
Where can I find the chopping boards?
You need to complete the cooking hobby for the first time to unlock the chopping boards, they can then be found in the kitchen section of buy mode

No, you have to complete this quest before you can move onto the next one

It’s a new quest, just been released, it will appear after you completed the quest you are on at the moment (as long as you’ve updated)
every time i click on the stove,toaster or fridg the blue foot print comes up i try movig them around but it doese not work plz help

What’s the “Ultimate Make Over” that costs 12 LPs?
You can change your sim completely, so the name and gender can be changed too 🙂
What kind of new look can you give them? Is it just changing like the skin color and name and gender or is there new hairstyles and clothes too?

Do I have to be on a certain level to buy a toaster? I’m on level 32 and I can’t find it?
Its in the kitchen section, it wouldn’t be locked at that level when the quest unlocks at level 7.

I found the toaster! It’s on the featured section.
It’s also in the kitchen section, it won’t be in the featured section forever.

The toaster is in the kitchen section, its quite easy to spot, there are 2, toasters wouldn’t be locked at that level if the quest unlocks at level 7.

With this new update I think they’ve removed the “move out of town” option which is disappointing as I’d like some toddlers without waiting for my old ones to age out.

You have to tap the sim of themselves and there will be a red symbol. That is the symbol to remove them from your town.

No, its game level, have you got the quest yet? If not you can’t get the option.
I’m on level 26 and my TV doesn’t have the option of watching chef on TV so I can’t pass the quest that’s asking me to cook something, what do I do?
Are you on the quest yet? You can’t do this goal until you start the quest and you can’t start the quest until previous quests have been completed.
Do you still have outfits in your wardrobe? Mine have all gone. My only options are hair/eyes, shirts, pants and shoes. I am hating this update. All my houses and the park are now in zoom mode. I’m one of those people that gets sick playing videogames, so now moving around my sims’ houses and the park makes me really nauseated. I can’t play the game more than 5 minutes without needing to throw up. I also lost 25 LP in the update. So I’m pretty unhappy, overall. 😦
They are only in the costume and swim store now, not the wardrobe anymore
Yeah I know, oh dear 😦 the zoom thing is hopefully going to be fixed though so maybe just hang off for a while until its sorted, you don’t want to make yourself sick.

WEll that’s just awesome, considering I don’t have the stupid costume store and am not likely to for some time. I hate that store, btw. I had it in my first game and never saw the point. The wardrobe functioned much better, and you could mix and match tops & bottoms. I really hope they sort through this, because I have to say, this update really sucks. 😦

I used it in my original game, because I’d built everything there was to build in the town at that time. I did not like that you couldn’t mix and match though. I’d prefer it if you could buy items there like you do at the furniture store, and once purchased, they stay in your wardrobe. The problem for me now is that with quest times what they are, the sheer volume of quests, the fact that you don’t get to choose when to start quests but rather they start as soon as you finish the previous ones, the high cost of builds and now the extended amount of time it takes to build, I just don’t see how I will ever have time to build up the money for or spare the time to be able to build a building that does nothing but provide me with outfits I already used to own.
I know what you mean, it’s going to cost me 200,000 to build the store and at this stage in the game that just isn’t my main priority so all those outfits are unusable until I complete all the quests or become a millionaire 😛

Yes but not if you are on another quest right now, You need to get the quest before you see the option.
OK. This stinks. There appears to be a bug. The cooking hobby does require one to buy a toaster but does not unlock it in the home store until a certain level. Which that level is I have no idea, but I’m pretty ticked because I can’t skip it or advance because of it. I have a toaster or two that came with certain houses and/ or maybe a mystery box, but I cannot buy it in the home store! I am level 27. Now what??
You should have toasters by level 7 otherwise you can’t do this quest, that would be silly!

I love the new update! But it took half the day to figure out how to update it. I have a Galaxy S3 mini and I finally figured out that you have to delete the entire game and redownload it. (Be sure to save your data in the cloud before you do) it takes a little while but it’s worth it to have a new restaurant.
How long does it take the burgers to cook? I’m so in love with your quest lists. I’ve definitely gotten some prizes because of you. Thanks!

The toaster will be unlocked when you get this quest, they wouldn’t give you a goal that you couldn’t complete at level 7, that would be silly 😛

I wish they were that on top of it for weekly and social quests. I have 2 right now that I can’t do because a) I have not progressed to preteens yet (social – can’t call gramma because i have no preteen) and b) i have not yet completed the all going swimmingly quest, so i cannot add or enlarge a pool (weekly). So frustrating.

You know how “advance sims age…” pops up when you complete a section of life dream? Or you can put it off until later and still advance for free? I usually try to keep sims couples evenly aged so I dont have a young person married to a senior. So one of my sims turned senior and I tried to advance his wifes age, but it wont let me even though her life dream for that section of age is done. Anyone else have this problem? Is my sims town destined to be a place for trophy wives and extreme cougars?.
Well I can no longer advance my seniors to the afterlife when they have completed their life dreams but I still have the advance age option on all my other sims
Hi. You say they’ve resolved the issue? It still won’t open on my Nexus. And I’ve just checked the app’s reviews on Google Play Store and everyone in there can’t get it to load either since the update. I’ve tried posting on EA forum but that was a waste, and I don’t have Facebook to contact them on there. I’ve spent real money and months of time on this. 😦 Awesome blog BTW. So helpful and well laid out.
They resolved the issue on my nexus as I helped them test something to see if the download was the issue and so what I had to do worked, now they know the issue they can sort it out which shouldn’t take too long 😀

click on the stove and press cooking, choose something to cook and keep doing this until you can cook burgers, if you are completing the quest you will do this quite quickly.

I’m at Level 41 and the Quest Task box has disappeared. My game seems to have updated w the new utensils logo showing on my Kindle home screen now but I’m not getting an new tasks for this quest….. suggestions?

What do you mean the quest box has disappeared? Do you mean all of the quests have gone? This is a technical issue so you will have to contact EA for help with this issue

I am aware that you have said time and time again that they wouldn’t put a goal of buying a toaster if the toaster isn’t unlocked. However, I am on level 27, I can see the toaster in my home store, I can also see that it is locked and not available until level 34. I’m not saying this makes sense, but that’s the issue I am having.
Well on one of my games I am on level 19 and I have both toasters, look at the picture in the post maybe you aren’t looking at the right item.
Can you post a picture of the chopping block? It says I need one in order to make some of the stuff for my level 3 and 4 cooking but I can’t seem to find one. Perhaps I’m not looking in the right place? I’ve looked through all the kitchen options. Do I need to complete a set before I can access the chopping block (those rare items are difficult)? My game glitched last night and I lost a lot of progress in the hobby.

My quest is to make a meal on the stove and I’ve done that several times. I’m on level 29 and I’ve tried it with a couple sims but it still isn’t working. Any ideas of another way to do this?
There isn’t a goal to make a meal on a stove, there are different things you need to make and there is a goal call to meal, which you need to click on the plate and select call to meal for this to work.
This is a goal. I have the same one and I’ve cooked several things, called to meal and washed the dishes. Task is still there.
No what I mean is the goal isn’t make something, the goal is to make a specific thing- if you are doing this quest.
If it is a weekly task you need to actually bake something, not cook something.
I had problems with this quest as well so I tried to bake something instead of cooking a meal like the quest has asked and it works that way. Hope this helps

I am having the same problem with trying to cook the cheese and tomato toast. If I click the toaster it says “stove one star” and when I click the stove it says “toaster one star” all shaded in gray so I cannot click on it. Not sure what to do to be able to complete this task.

Or because you’ve been playing longer than me maybe they kept the toasters for all the people who had them but took them away and changed what levels you get them at for those who never got the toasters yet. Maybe they did that when they took away the quest and kept it for a later time for those people too because I am passed level 7 and have not had the quest yet. Maybe these are some possibilities.

I think it’s really helpful to those in the middle of quest and don’t know what to do or just want to start something ahead so they get the prize at the end of the quest. Hi, I love your blog! I know I’m a bit late, but I have a quick question. I want to age up my toddler, but with the new cooking update, I can’t make a birthday cake! I have not done the life and legacies quest and I do not have the supermarket built, so I don’t know if it’s there. How do you get the birthday cake with the new update? So I am experiencing the WEIRDEST bug… I think it’s a bug. Has anybody else noticed this? Or have an explanation?
So one of my sims is on cooking level 4. But when she tries to cook, pizza is the most complicated option available to her. She can’t cook anything above that. She doesn’t have the best toaster or microwave (I can’t find upgrades for either) but she does have a top of the line fridge and stove.
Do I need to upgrade everything before I can advance to a new dish?

you need a two star stove to make quiche at level 4 and a chopping board to make spaghetti at level 3 and nachos at level 4 (which only unlocks onces completed the hobby for the first time)

Thanks, what is the cooking collection? I completed Bread Winner Quest and then the cooking selection appeared, I started it then purchased 2 star toaster, 2 star microwave, and stuck trying to find the chopping board.

click on a stove, select cook
You must complete the entire collection in order to get the chopping board. Once you complete the collection, then you can try to look for the chopping boards.( hint: they are in the kitchen section of the home store) If you complete the collection you could restart it. I completed the cooking hobby more than four times. I am in LOVE with the cooking hobby. Best hobby ever of 2014!
