Once you have completed the DIY Homes: Basement of Kings Quest you can then find Bree in the park again to begin this quest (it will take 24 hours for this quest to show once that quest has been completed) If you complete this quest in the time limit you will unlock the mezzanine house template, you can still complete once the time limit is up to unlock mezzanine floors but you won’t get the house template. I am so happy we can finally add indoor balconies!
You cannot complete this quest at the same time as any other discovery quest
HOW LONG DOES THIS QUEST TAKE TO COMPLETE?
Times may vary depending on the star rating an item has
- Talk to Bree- 5 minutes
- Hug Bree- 10 minutes
- Offer to help Bree- 15 minutes
- Phone a cab to the mezzanine house (using a phone)
- Health and safety tour- 1 hour 1 minute
- Identify the hazard (the tiles are the hazard)- 2 hours
- Clean space on second floor- you need to clean up two things:
- Bucket of water- 3 hours 20 minutes
- Ripped rubbish bag- 1 hour
TIP: have two sims to clean these at the same time
- Are we mezzanine ready?- you need to check three walls:
- Check wall- 3 hours
- Check wall- 5 hours 50 minutes
- Check wall- 2 hours
TIP: use three sims to check all the walls at the same time
- Shoo the cat- 4 hours 10 minutes
- Research mezzanines- 5 hours 30 minutes (using a computer)
- Go to a home lot (send your sim home)
- Build a mezzanine- go to the house section and click on the mezzanine button (that is flashing)
To build a mezzanine, touch and drag anywhere WITHIN a room, there needs to be a room below where you want to place the mezzanine:
- Modify a mezzanine- click on the white arrows to drag the mezzanine to resize it:
- Return to the mezzanine house (using the phone)
- Give news to Bree- 5 hours
- Convince Bree- 10 hours (using whiteboard)
- Meet Sue Portive- 6 hours 40 minutes Is Sue in the pool? Have all sims leave the house, force close the game and go back to the mezzanine house without a sim, click on Sue and then bring a sim to this house. You should now be able to interact with her
- Investigate Bree’s work on the third floor- 7 hours 30 minutes (click on the x)
- Calm Sue- 4 hours 10 minutes
- Have 3 sims in mezzanine house
- Clean the third floor- there are four things to clear:
- Bucket of water- 8 hours 20 minutes
- Ripped rubbish bag- 5 hours
- Cans of paint- 3 hours 20 minutes
- Ripped rubbish bag- 1 hour
TIP: use four sims to clean all the mess at the same time
- Cuddle the kitten- 11 hours 40 minutes
- Approach Sue- 3 hours 20 minutes Is Sue in the pool?Have all sims leave the house, force close the game and go back to the mezzanine house without a sim, click on Sue and then bring a sim to this house. You should now be able to interact with her
- Comfort Bree- 6 hours 40 minutes
- Freshen up- 10 hours 30 minutes (shower)
- Have a group photo- 5 hours 50 minutes (click on x)
- Have an interview- 11 hours 40 minutes (Bree)
- Relax by pool using 3 sims on the deck chairs- 16 hours 40 minutes (if you want to speed up this task you have to speed all sims up individually)
- Send sims home- send all sims who are at the mezzanine house home
QUEST IS COMPLETE!
Once you complete the quest you can add indoor balconies (mezzanine floors) to any house you want! If you want more information on how to build mezzanine floors give this post a read!

Where can I find it? In the house templates on both standard and premium house lots
Cost: First one is free, after that they cost simoleons
Is it worth it? If you don’t want to build your own mezzanine house but really want indoor balconies then it is worth completing in the time limit. If you would rather build your own mezzanine floors then there is no rush, I personally will be building my own house!
What is the difference between the standard and premium residence? The only difference is the garden, the house is exactly the same on both

How do I start this discovery quest?
Once you have completed the basement quest you need to wait 24 hours then you can find Bree (the woman in the hard hat) in the park to start this quest
Why can’t I do this discovery quest yet?
You cannot do more than one discovery quest at the same time, if you are currently on another one (the list can be found here) you will not be able to do this one until that one is completed
Can I do discovery quests at the same time as a main quest?
Yes you can
Do I have to do this quest?
If you don’t start the quest you don’t have to do it at all but if you have already started it you need to complete it before you can move on to the next quest
I haven’t started this quest yet, will it still be available when I want to do it?
Yes it will be, you can choose to start it whenever you like

I had all sims leave the mezzanine house but it didn’t complete the goal, why?
Try and have all your sims not doing any action, this sometimes makes the game recognise you have completed that goal

Yes you have to finish it to unlock the ability to build mezzanines before you can move onto the next quest

No, you cannot redo quests

No, the only way to get the limited time prizes is by completing the quest in the time limit
I don’t like this quest! Can I just skip it?
No, you have to complete this quest before you can move onto the next one now that you have started it, if you don’t start it you don’t have to do it

5 days 10 hours 21 minutes, that is with the maximum number of sims cleaning up and checking the walls at the same time.

This quest will be available forever, it is a discovery quest so you can complete them whenever you like, there is no time limit

I know it is too much to ask but can you state in every quest how long it takes without using LPs but using the maximum amount of sims? Just like this one (5 days) 😁 It would be really helpful!

There’s no mezzanine tab. I’m already in the “go to home lot” part. And i can’t build one cause there’s no mezzanine tab. I’m using sims freeplay mobile
You won’t be able to build it until you get the goal to build it, it will appear once you complete the go to a home lot part.
I think I’ll finish this quest in time for the prize, but what if I don’t have anymore lots to put the template house on? I have a house on every lot. If I demolish one can I put the template there?
Yes if you demolish a house you can build a new house template.
hi. I need some help with his quest because I doesnt appear on my sims freeplay. I didnt get any notification when i opened the game. New quests are supposed to pop up right when you go to the town map. I am currently on level 33 and had already completed the basement quest way back. I think this started with the chocolatier event last march 2018, it didnt show as well. I just knew about this event from their facebook page. I dont know what seems to be the problem. I was trying to update the app but the update button doesnt show–meaning, my app is updated. Please help. I am dying to have the mezzanine house 😦
New quests don’t always pop up, to start discovery quests you either have to build a place or talk to someone, for this one you need to find Bree in the park, click on here and select start the quest and it will begin.
I’ve seen a couple of notifications via the game that this quest is available, when I click the “start now” button nothing happens! How can I start this quest?

The have 3 sims relax by the pool? You have to speed each sim up separately with LP.
I love your guides, they are so very helpful. My question is, I have just seen more items that maybe need clearing. At the moment my sim’s goal is to Cuddle Kitten on level 3 of the house, (after having helpers clear ripped bags, paint, bucket of water etc). But when I view level 1 of the house, I can see a pile of rocks and 3 lots of boxes. Do these need to be cleared too? Your guide only says the next stage is to approach Sue, then comfort Bree etc., nothing is mentioned about clearing these up too, so I’m a bit confused.
No they don’t need to be cleared, you only have to clear the items it says in the quest.
Anyone else having problems with their coin flower patches randomly turning into a normal garden patch? I find myself having to put down a new coin patch about every other day because it keeps changing on its own to a regular patch.
This happens to me a lot, luckily it isn’t a major problem as it can just be replaced with another patch.
I kind of like this as u get free garden patches. I know it’s not oodles of simoleons but I put out a bunch a coin flower patches and overnight I get several normal patches to sell. This makes me a tiny bit of cash!
I think I have a problem. When I sent my Sims home the quest didn’t finish and I only have six hours left to finish in time to get the prize

Hello, firstly thank you for your great blog and helpfulness (and patience!) answering all of our questions. My question doesn’t belong here, however it doesn’t seem possible to comment on your penthouse post. My question: In the lofty penthouse, there is a flat screen tv on the wall that looks larger than that unlocked in the French chateau (3 wide vs 2). Is this tv only obtainable by building the lofty penthouse or should it be available in the store? Or unlocked from a certain quest?
Sometimes my game is missing random things, so I wasn’t sure.

Yes, you can have a mezzanine above a basement.
The thing is, it works in some houses and in others it doesnt… do you now why?

Hi I was up tot the bit of the quest where’s they have to leave and I left early with all my sims by clicking the home button before they left and now it won’t recognise that they have left and I can’t return to the house, just wondering if you have any advice?

I have a question about items. I won this house and have built it on a premium lot. It seems like the items that come in the house are only in that house and not available for me in the home store. Is that how it goes? Do you have a blog post on items that appear in the store vs items that only appear in houses? I’m very confused how those items are not available for multiple purchases .
Yes that is what happens for most prize houses, there are usually a few items you can only get in the house although some items probably unlocked in previous quests or events, for example, the chandelier was from the christmas quest. I don’t have a post for this as I cannot remember how every item is unlocked, sorry about that!
I thought you had to build a home for free after the quest is finished.
You don’t have to build it if you don’t want to.

No, you will still be able to build mezzanine floors once you complete the quest but you won’t get the house if you don’t complete in the time limit.
Help! I didn’t clean the paint cans first before checking the walls and now it won’t let me, I keep getting the can’t walk there sign.
There are no paint cans to clean before checking the walls, there is only the bucket of water and the ripped rubbish bags, did you clean both of those?
Hi, I’m really stuck I’m currently on the build a mezzanine. I’m trying to build it above a basement room I’ve just made but every square is red. I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong.
It might be that you are trying to place a mezzanine between rooms on the floor below (you will know if you are as white dotted lines showing you the location of the rooms below appear) you cannot place a mezzanine on these lines. No you cannot start it early, you won’t find the option until you get the goal

I just took a several month break from the game. Before taking the break I had finished all the quests including the basement on. I would like to do this one now and being a discovery quest it should be available however I can not find bee in the park to start it. I have updated, I have left the park and came back, i have basically tried everything I could think of and still no bee. Any idea why I wouldn’t be able to start this now.

You won’t be able to complete this one until you complete the a bump-y ride discovery quest as you can only complete one discovery quest at a time
Why are task so long like for example the last one takes 16 hours. Why does it have to take so long? Is there to shorten this?

I’m trying to complete the “Approach Sue” part of the Mezzanines quest, but she is stuck in the pool at the Mezzanine house, and I can’t get my Sim to approach her even if he gets in the pool with her. Has anyone else had an issue with this, and, if so, is there a way to fix it without having to reset my entire game?

The same thing happened to me. You just have to wait it out. For me, it took about 14 hours for her to get out of the pool.

It depends on how many other houses you have already built as the time it takes to build increases for each house you build, you can see how long it will take by clicking on the house templates, you don’t have to build one but it will tell you on there how long it will take for the next house.
I send everyone home for the last task but my quest still says I have only completed 96%. Bree and the house is gone. How do I finish it?

If she is in the pool and doesn’t leave just get all of your sims to leave the house and then force quit the app and then go to the mezzain house press on sue (while there are NO sims in the house) and then bring a sim over to the house and press on sue again. This should get her to leave the pool. 😊

Just to let you know the task ‘approach sue portive’ or any other that involve sue portive there is an issue with sue getting into the pool by herself. If she is in the pool and doesn’t leave just get all of your sims to leave the house and then force quit the app and then go to the mezzain house press on sue (while there are NO sims in the house) and then bring a sim over to the house and press on sue again. This should get her to leave the pool. 😊
