Early Access to Beta Provided by EA/ Firemonkeys (Presented by EA Creator Network)
A brand new event is available from the Hot Simmerin’ Summer July 2022 update. MidTown Café is a new business venue where you can hire staff, upgrade equipment, and grow your café to be the most talked about business in the new map location, MidTown!
You must be level 27 or over to begin. This event will be available until you are ready to complete it so there is no rush!
How can I start my café? Build MidTown Terminal, you will find it next to the Children’s Store in Simtown:
Once built you will be able to access the café from the bus terminal and the tutorial with Barry Ista will begin:
THE FIRST TIMER FOR THIS EVENT WILL BEGIN WHEN YOU START THE TUTORIAL
At the café you can click on the menu button in the top left corner to view your progress and everything you need to know about MidTown Café, click here to see this in more detail
You can start shifts from here too, a shift lasts 4 hours and you can complete 2 in a 24 hour period:
What do I have to do? You will manage the Full of Beans Café by serving customers and fulfilling their orders with speedy service. Employ specialist staff and upgrade your café’s equipment to ensure all your customers’ needs are met. Customers will rate your service which then earns you rewards.
There are 2 types of customers:
- Walk ins- these are regular customers who will walk in off the street and pay Café Credits when served
- Tourists- these arrive on buses and are part of Tour Groups so many arrive at once. They also pay in Café Credits but you will also earn Likes from these customers. You need to earn Likes to progress and unlock new equipment and prizes on the progress bar.
What are Café Credits used for? Café Credits are used to upgrade equipment, hire staff, send staff on training and pay their wages:
What are Likes used for? Likes unlock rewards on the progress tab in the Café Menu:
There are 3 types of tourists:
- Influencers- they have blue timers above their head and if served before the blue timer turns to green you will earn bonus Likes
- Moneybags- they have yellow timers above their head and if served before the yellow timer turns to green you will earn more Café Credit as they will give you a tip
- Impatient- they have orange timers above their heads, these are shorter timers than the green one so you need to serve them first to avoid your staff getting stressed
Not all customers have these timers walk ins and some tourists will have the green timer which is the regular timer, if any of the timers run out before they are served they will become angry and cause stress to your staff.
How do I deal with impatient customers? Tap on them and select bump to move them to the front of the queue:
You can do this for any sim you want to serve first so if they have a green timer that will run out before someone else or if they are an influencer or moneybags type of customer you can bump them up to serve them before they lose their extra rewards.
What happens if customers get angry? Angry customers mean your staff will become stressed, a meter will appear above your staff members head when they start to become stressed:
If this meter gets full they will have a stress event:
If they have 2 stress events in 1 shift they may call in sick:
If they have 3 stress events in 1 shift they will quit:
How do I avoid stress events? You can click on a member of staff who is getting stressed and select ‘send on break’ Once they have finished dealing with the current customer they will head outside for some air, this will empty their meter. They will return to work when their meter is empty:
Staff will automatically take a stress break once they have a stress event
What happens if they quit? If a staff member quits you can hire them back at the end of the shift for Café Credits, it is cheaper to rehire than to hire a new member of staff:
How do I get to MidTown Café? You can click on the bus terminal in Simtown or from the active tasks tab:
All staff and customers are non playable sims so you can’t really control them apart from sending staff on breaks or bumping customers up the queue. This means you can bring 10 of your own sims to the café, they won’t be able to work at the café and serve customers however they can enjoy the surroundings but you cannot bring your sims to the café while a tour is going on.

Tours
To start a tour you need to click on the Tour Bus Button in the top left corner under the Café Progress Button:
You will then get a pop up to select which tour you want to complete, tours can either be Easy, Challenging or Risky. You will always get the Easy option but then the other will be a harder option so either Challenging or Risky.
Harder Tours have more tourists and more likely to have moneybags, influencers or impatient tourists but shorter queue times so you can earn more rewards but you need to be more efficient when serving them to avoid stress to your staff by bumping certain sims to the top of the queue:
You can complete 4 tours a shift and a shift lasts 4 hours, between each tour there is a cool down period of up to an hour.
Serving Tourists is the only way to earn Likes to progress in this event and unlock rewards
NOTE: Once you have completed the café you will no longer get tours
MidTown Café Menu
Tab 1: Reward Progress & Café Issues
Reward Progress Bar- there are 45 levels to complete to fully upgrade this café, prizes are unlocked by earning Likes which you earn by completing tours:
Some levels have Milestone Rewards, you need to complete these stages in the time limit to earn those items for free otherwise you will need to purchase them to continue:
It will cost Café Credits to purchase café equipment if you don’t complete in the time limit:
It will cost social points if you fail to reach any of the café upgrade milestones on time, you have to pay before you can even complete another shift. I really don’t like that this costs social points, not everyone has that many to spend on this and the fact you can’t even continue completing shifts until you pay it doesn’t seem fair:
It will also cost SP if you want to unlock prize packs you missed out on, the SP price will appear on the progress bar:
THE FIRST TIMER FOR THIS EVENT WILL BEGIN WHEN YOU START THE TUTORIAL
The table below shows all the levels you need to complete, the rewards you earn for each level and how many likes are needed to unlock these rewards. You can also see the time limit to reach certain milestones as well as the cost if you fail to complete in time:

I’ve unlocked a piece of equipment but it isn’t in my café, why? This will be added at the end of the shift:
Café Upgrades are also completed after the shift
Café Issues– underneath the progress bar you can see any issues that have occurred, this is usually due to a piece of equipment not being upgraded enough to fulfil customer requests or if a member of staff is unavailable or one hasn’t been hired to use a certain type of equipment:
You can also start shifts from this screen
Tab 2: Upgrading Equipment
Some progress rewards are Tour Requests, this mean a piece of equipment needs to be upgraded so you can make different items that customers want to buy, if you don’t upgrade your equipment you won’t earn as many Café Credits by completing tours:
In the table below you can find the upgrade costs for all the café equipment (they all cost Café Credits):
| LEVEL 2 | LEVEL 3 | LEVEL 4 | LEVEL 5 | LEVEL 6 | LEVEL 7 | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| COFFEE MACHINE | 319 | 372 | 425 | 452 | 510 | 578 |

This table explains how many Café Credits (CC) you will earn from the customers with each upgrade, I haven’t included items in this table if they make the same amount of Café Credits as the previous level, for example, at level 2 with the coffee machine you still sell Coffee for 1CC, but it is included in level 3 as you earn 2CC.

Your equipment and benchtops can both be customised to fit the theme of your café. Under the upgrading equipment tab you can click on the build/buy button on each item to change the colour of the equipment and under decor on the same tab you can change the benchtops from walnut to pine (or any of the other designs once you have unlocked them in this event):
Also under decor you can edit the queue markers, if you don’t want queue markers you can also remove them:
I love that you can edit all the café items, you can also edit the whole cafe building and make it look exactly as you want it, you can really make this place into your café rather than it being a standard business.
Tab 3: Staff Management
From this tab you can manage and hire staff.
Manage: Every shift they work they will gain XP but lose happiness. Once they earn enough XP they will be able to complete training to level up and earn perks:
- Faster ordering processing
- Slower stress gain
- Recover faster when on a break
- Greater stress tolerance
Clicking on the up arrow on a member of staff on the manage tab shows you all the staff levels and the perks they can unlock
-
- Level 1– no perks
- Level 2– Faster ordering processing (5 seconds faster)
- Level 3– Slower stress gain (5% slower)
- Level 4– Recover faster when on a break (5% faster)
- Level 5– Greater stress tolerance (can handle 4 stress events, rather than 3 before quitting)
- Level 6– Faster ordering processing (10 seconds faster)
- Level 7– Slower stress gain (10% slower)
- Level 8– Recover faster when on a break (10% faster)
- Level 9– Greater stress tolerance (can handle 5 stress events before quitting)
- Level 10– Faster ordering processing (15 seconds faster)
Once their happiness gets too low they will call in sick and will be unavailable for 3 hours. To avoid this you can select ‘time off’ on that member of staff in the Manage tab and they will take time off for 45 minutes, during this time they will be unable to work but once they return their happiness will be full again. If they call in sick due to low happiness they will also have full happiness when they return.
Stress is no good for your staff! We talked about this earlier in this post, click here to read about it
Hire: Under the hire tab you can see all applicants, the list will refresh every 24 hours so if you don’t see anyone suitable you can wait for a new set of applicants.
- You can see under their image what level they are on, higher level sims will cost more to hire.
- Staff are paid with Café Credits so you can see in the wages section how much they will cost per shift.
- Next to this you can see their happiness level, happier sims can go longer before needing time off so they will cost more to hire:
Every piece of equipment in your café will have a specialist. For the coffee machine it is your barista, for the sandwich display it is your sandwich specialist etc. Only specialists can use their perks on their assigned equipment so a barista can use the sandwich display, they just won’t earn any perks. You can see on the image below all the symbols for the different specialists:
You can hire a Temp with social points, they are a special staff type that has all the perks for all equipment. They also don’t get stressed but they only work one shift:
Managers: Managers can be purchased with real money to help you complete the café, they will earn you more Café Credits per tour and shift but they won’t help to earn Likes:
You can also purchase credit packs with social points:
You might notice them appear occasionally to check how you are running their café!
Upgrading MidTown Café
At Levels 20, 35 and 45 you will unlock visual changes to the area of MidTown where the café is located. You will start with an area that looks rundown with not a lot going on and as you improve the café with each upgrade the landscape changes and more people hear about the area until you reach level 45 and you have a bright busy MidTown due to the café’s success!
Level 20: As well as the visual changes of art on the walls and shops opening up, the building next to the café has been demolished so you can increase the size of the café:
Level 35: The second building next to the café has also been demolished giving you a 12×24 grid to build on! You can completely customise your café and make it look exactly how you want:
Level 45: The café is complete and MidTown looks incredible!
If you don’t manage to reach one of these upgrade milestones in the time limit you will have to pay social points to progress in this event, see more information here
Customising your Café
My favourite thing about this event is that you can make the café your own by completing customising it, once you reach level 35 you will have the whole 12×24 grid to build on using all your buy mode items and build features! There are a few things you can’t move which are the benchtops, café equipment and 2 single doors as if you messed with these your café wouldn’t be able to function but everything else can be moved and designed to suit your style!
Once you complete the café you can still complete shifts to earn Café Credits, these can then be used to build and buy items for your café as all home store items at the café will now cost Café Credits rather than other currency:
Any items you buy with Café Credits cannot be stored and placed in a house, they can only be used in the café
Watch My Café Tour here:
Prizes
When you reach milestone levels you also earn buy mode prizes to use in your café and your sims houses.

It looks like a lot of this event is on timers. I didn’t see any info regarding the timing of starting this event. Must this event be started right when it is released so as not to get behind on the first timer, like influence island or SIM chase, or can it be started at some point in the future, like downtown developers and SIM springs? Hopefully it’s the latter because it looks like it’s going to take a lot of time and organization to complete without having to pay fines to move forward, and it would be great if it could be started when it can be worked into our real lives. After all the glitches in Sandy Suburbs, I’m holding off on starting Palm Promenade until any bugs with it have been fixed, and since this event is new, hopefully there won’t be issues with it as well.
Sorry I have added this information to the post now, you don’t need to start it straight away so it is like a downtown developer event or sim springs. The timer will begin when you start the tutorial so once the bus terminal is built.
Are we able to turn off the automatic actions for our sims?
What do you mean? The sims at the cafe are non playable sims so they wouldn’t do any actions if it wasn’t automatic.
In the grand prize, there was an action to wash hands and make coffee
Oh, you can’t turn those off but they won’t do them all the time, just occasionally.
Is there a way to skip the shifts?
No, you cannot skip shifts.
What do the manager and the cafe assistant do? Are they actually at the cafe serving customers during a shift?
You will earn extra credits but they won’t actually appear at the cafe.
It says you can by the cafe pack in the home store if you missed the timer. I don’t see anything in the home store to buy the skid tables and stools and etc???
You will see this option in the cafe progress. The SP cost will appear on the bar next to the pack you didn’t unlock in time.
Hi!
Thanks for the amazingly detailed info as always!
I imagine the time limits given in your table for reaching the next milestone level start from the previous milestone and not the beginning of the event?
I think I’m going to keep this and the Palm Promenade events for the winter. I’m trying to enjoy my summer here! lol
You’re welcome! Yes the milestones start when you complete the previous milestone.
Sounds like a very good idea to me!
is it possible to play this event very slowly, miss every deadline, and still get the prizes (i’m willing to save up SP to pay for the prize packs)? There’s no way i can do all that they are asking with a full-time job in the real world. Is it like Sim Springs where you snooze you lose or is there hope for me?
You would be able to buy the prize packs with social points so there is some hope but it will be quite expensive!
What happens after you have finish the midtown cafe event?
Will there be more levels after 45 or is the cafe finish and you send the staff to work anytime?
Level 45 is the highest level, after then there are no tours. You can still send staff to work like before but you will make less coins due to no tours.
I have reached Cafe Level 45. There are no tours once you reach the top level. This means that you spend more in wages to do a shift than you earn from the walk in customers. When I noticed this I decided to hire six level 1 people but I still lost 55 cafe credits in one shift. If I used my level 10 workers I would spend all my remaining cafe credits within a few shifts. This is a problem which needs to be communicated to the game designers.
I have passed on your feedback to the makers
I have also reached level 45 and without tour income the wages for each shift are more than the income brought in by walk ins. Subsequently , you lose money every shift. So there is no way to earn enough to upgrade equipment. It would be nice if tour buses continued after reaching level 45. Otherwise there is no use starting a shift. So I just don’t go there. It’s a major disappointment after spending so much time building it up to that level.
When you add up all the timers, it last for more than two months. Does this need to be done in one go, or can you build in pauses?
Ideally it needs to be completed at once as you have all the time limits but if you aren’t bothered about not earning prize packs and having to pay to continue then you can take as long as you want to complete this.
This has been my big complaint about many of the events in Freeplay – there is no way to pause between major milestones and take a day off without being severely penalized. A game like this should be a way to relax and not a cause of stress where people are setting alarms in the middle of the night and losing sleep.
Hi, thanks so much for the detailed info, as always. Do you know if you can replace the specialists with other specialists? Also how many specialists can you have at one time?
You’re welcome! There doesn’t seem to be a limit on how many specialists you can have but only 6 of them can work at a time and unless one is taking time off or off sick it will always be the specialist that has the highest level for that piece of equipment. You also can’t fire staff but if you did want to replace them with someone else full time you could make them stressed until they quit.
Please, why I cannot to change color in my pastry display?
I’m in 17 level, I unlocked it and fully upgraded it but still cannot change it !
Why? It’s so annoying because Is not available this option !
You should be able to now, this issue has been fixed.
Too much is happening in sims free play at the same time. The palm promenade event, the cafe event and soon coming live event. Palm promenade event has already used up most of my simoleans. I’m not sure about the cafe event. I am quite reluctant to start it. I hope it is not like those dinner rush kinda game
It’s not like those games, you don’t serve the customers yourself it is automatic. You just need to bump up certain customers to the front of the queue and keep your staff happy.
You also don’t need to start this any time soon, it will be in the game until you are ready to start it.
How to terminate the staff
You can’t fire them but if they get stressed they will quit.
Hello my question is I didn’t reach level 15 in time but I bought the count pastry display I have it in my inventory but I didn’t get in for the cafe why?
You will need to go to the equipment tab and purchase it with cafe coins if you missed out on it in the time limit, the SP prize pack you purchased is for use in your sims homes.
Yes, the palm promenade event has used up all my simoleans too, and I can’t finish it, And it was so not worth it! I started midtown cafe but I don’t know what’s going on, the tutorial was lame, also the shift finished overnight and I didn’t get the chance to complete it.
What are you stuck on with the MidTown cafe event? This post should explain most things but let me know if there is anything else you need to know.
I hired a member of staff but not sure how they start work? They aren’t coming up
When you click start shift they will arrive automatically but you can only have one specialist on a piece of equipment so if you have two baristas you can only have one of them at work.
Is there a way to fire an additional barista that you hired? I didn’t know what I was doing and I thought I could have two working at once. I figured out that I couldn’t but now I can’t get rid of the second one…
You can’t fire them but if they get stressed they will quit.
I love it so much! Gonna make my sims a nice café with all the decor from the coffee shop template from another event. Thank you very much for all the useful information!
You’re welcome! Have fun!
Is paying w real $ for assistant/mgr/dir worth it? Are they there just for 1 shift or for entire event until we complete 45 levels?
All they do is earn you extra cafe credits for the whole event, they won’t actually show at the cafe.
Hi; I’m on level 34 now, closing in on 35 and on several occasions at levels over 25, I have seen the manager, and director eating and drinking coffee behind the work area during shifts. I should have taken a snapshot instead of asking what are you doing back there civilian? It took a couple of appearances and the one of the cafe assistant before I realized it was those guys visiting. I suppose making sure things were running correctly. I’m now waiting for them to show up again so I can get a pic. I know you said they don’t appear in the game but maybe if you buy all of them they might. They did for me. Now if I can get a pic or maybe someone else will pose a pic of them in action.
That is good to know, thanks!
Hey! Is it possible to skip to the next day with SP, LP,… or do we have to wait until the next day? And if I miss playing one day is that gonna have a an impact I can‘t revise with SP, LP or else? Because this summer I might have no internet on some days and I don#t want to start, if I may miss a lot of things.
It is not possible to speed through this event. If you don’t have time to start it yet then I would suggest leaving it for now, there is no rush to begin this event.
I’m not sure I understand the whole hiring extra staff. Why can’t two of the same specialists work at the same time? The same staff member works each shift. For exploring, what’s the point of hiring another toaster specialist when I’m only able to use the same girl each shift?
The extra staff would only be useful if you wanted to complete a shift while another member is taking time off or off sick, you could cope without them. But if you had a low level staff member and you saved up enough credits to hire someone with a higher starting level you might still want to hire them and keep your old staff member as back up.
Can you fire staff or do you have to wait for them to quit?
You have to wait for them to quit
Thank you for everything you do for us Sims players! I have a quick question, are we able to go into other shops or live in Mid town?
You’re welcome! Unfortunately none of the other shops are usable in MidTown.
Hi, thanks so much for your detailed breakdown. I found that when I paid for updating the equipment nothing happens. Only when I click update and pay a second time does it update. I contacted the support team but the person who replied doesn’t seem to know the game. They gave me lifepoints ‘to progress in the game’ but of course LPs are not helpful at the cafe. I run out of coins very quickly like this and it means I can’t always update the equipment before the next shift. Do you think it makes a difference if you update equipment during or after a shift?
That is strange! They did increase the amount of cafe credits needed to purchase upgrades a few days after you posted so it will now cost double what it did before so maybe this is why you had this issue unless you are still having this problem now?
Is there any advantage to having all of the managers? Do they all do the same thing? And if you hire all three of them do all three of them appear at the store at the same time?
Having all 3 managers will earn you more credits than having 1 or none but they don’t do anything else other than earn credits and they won’t actually appear at your cafe.
Hey ! I’ve got a problem with the milkshake machine.. I can’t buy it (and I unlocked it). I’ve got only an “ok” appearing on my screen when I try to buy it..
Do you have enough cafe credits?
What happens if at the end of the shift you don’t have enough money to pay their wages (say, if you spent all the credits you had on upgrades), do the wages get added on to the next shift or does something bad happen?
I have asked the makers and apparently the game just takes as much as it can so you could end up with zero cafe credits but nothing bad will happen.
Thank you for this very helpful post. I’m enjoying this event but I’m having an issue where I’m charged for attempting to upgrade my café equipment but I don’t get the upgrade unless I buy it again. So I need to pay twice to get my upgrades. I brought this issue to Firemonkeys support but they didn’t seem interested in fixing the issue, only to say that they can’t compensate me unless I buy SP packs. I’m going to try with them again I guess, my question to you is if you have heard anyone else having this issue? If it’s a bug, do you think there’s any chance they’ll be able to fix it before it’s too late to finish the event within the time limit? I don’t know how long bug fixing usually takes, so I’m feeling a bit discouraged.
I have heard of a few people having this issue. They did increase the amount of cafe credits needed to purchase upgrades not long after you posted so it will now cost double what it did before so maybe this is why you had this issue unless you are still having this problem now?
Thanks for the concise review WM, I love that whenever I get stuck I can always rely on your expert advice to get me through.
Initially I didn’t like this game, I felt like I was being manipulated into playing another game within a game if you know what I mean but now I’m looking forward to completing the levels. What does bug me is when they start another event at the same time. I just don’t have the time to keep seeing to the staff, the coach tours and then making my sims make candles, pottery, jewellery and glass as well. I guess one way or another I’m going to lose out. Again, I feel like I’m being manipulated to use / purchase SPs to complete.
Thank you for your kind words! I have passed on your feedback to the makers
I reached a milestone that allowed for upgrading the coffee machine to level 4 during a shift. I clicked on the upgrade option and the cafe credits went down but I didn’t receive the upgrade then or after the shift ended. I had to upgrade and pay again. I am concerned I’m now very short on credits for when the next upgrade is due. Also, with the prize pack of 3 star items, it didn’t seem to make any difference adding them in the cafe. Are they not to be used there?
That is strange, a few people have said they have had this issue, are you still having it now?
The prize pack items are for use at your houses in simtown, they won’t add any extra functions to your cafe.
Thanks for the reply. Comforting to know it’s not just me! I have had this happen 3 times now, including after buying extra cafe credits with SPs as I was getting behind having to pay twice all the time. I did contact firemonkeys who said they couldn’t refund cafe credits but did refund the SPs I’d used. I have found since that if I leave an update until at least 24hrs after it becomes available, it does update properly. Does mean going through 2+ shifts without items that customers want.
I accidentally hired another barista. Is there a way to remove her. She is physically not present and is not serving or anything. Her wages have become a burden. What can I do?
The only way to get rid of them is if they quit as you can’t fire them. If they get stressed they will quit.
Ok so I think I found a huge glitch…I am like level 11 and I don’t know when it changed, but it was very recently, but now when I need double the amount to upgrade my equipment, like it didn’t have that an hr ago! I can’t afford a 1000+ Cafe credits to get to level 3 of shake, like am I missing something? It was at 600, and that’s the same for everything I’ve unlocked so far (up to sandwich) everything doubled in cc…help please!
This isn’t a glitch, this was increased in a recent update, I have now updated the post so the amounts listed should be correct.
I think your table of how much cafe credits it costs to upgrade equipment is incorrect. Currently my game is telling to to upgrade to level 4 of the coffee maker is 425 cafe credits and the shake maker to level 2 is 1020 cafe credits. It’ll be nearly to get that number of credits in time even playing constantly.
It wasn’t incorrect when created, there was an update today and the amounts have increased, I’m waiting on confirmation that this was meant to happen before I update the table.
Wow ok, thats a lot of credits to get tbh, and they didn’t even increase the amount we get so it’d be easier to collect, I don’t think I can meet the milestones in time if I have to keep upgrading my equipment, paying for salaries, hiring future employees, paying for training, etc…I would buy some but don’t have enough sp and honestly the highest amount to buy isn’t even enough to upgrade shakes lol…idk sorry about rant…
Turns out they have changed this on purpose, I am waiting on a list from the makers of what exactly has changed so I can update this post.
Yes I’m facing the same issue. The shake maker upgrade to level 2 is 1020 cafe credits but it was showing 600 credits earlier(same as that mentioned in the blog). How could it change showing 600cc earlier and suddenly changing to 1020cc. It happened for all the other cafe equipment.
Unfortunately they have changed these amounts to make it harder to complete.
Hi do you know how to change the cash register? I’ve completed the whole cafe and want to change it to suit the design an it won’t let me ! Thank you
You should find the option under cafe equipment> decor
What happens if I don’t hire a new specialist for each new position? Can my cafe still work? Those big salaries are killing me lol…
If you don’t hire a specialist you won’t earn as much cafe credits from tours as you won’t have all the items they want to buy but it isn’t the end of the world if you can’t afford another specialist for a while.
What happens, if you do not earn enough during a shift to pay all the staff’s wages? Will they quit?
I have asked the makers and apparently the game just takes as much as it can so you could end up with zero cafe credits but nothing bad will happen.
I have completed the cafe and reached the final level in the time limit, however I fail to see any benefit in continuing with the cafe as the wages out pace any earnings by a considerable margin! Thoughts?
I have passed on your feedback to the makers.
I hired one extra barista but that person is not seen working at the cafe.
You can’t have more than one of each specialist working at the cafe at the same time, the other barista will just be a spare for when your main barista is off sick or taking time off.
Hi. Thanks for the detailed information its much appreciated. I have a question. A member of staff has suffered more than 3 stress events in 5 consecutive shifts but hasn’t quit yet. I thought they quit after 3 🤔
The member of staff needs to have 3 stress events in one shift to have a chance that they will quit, sorry I will make this clearer in the post.
Actually, it may take a while to get someone to quit. I’ve purposely made numerous staff quit, but only after days upon days of constant stress. For instance, Philip is a level 5 Pastry Specialist and I’ve been trying to get him to quit for 2 days already. I purposely give him all the angry customers and never send him on break. He’s had least 8 full stress events per shift and he still chooses to remain employed, nor has he ever called in sick. This has happened to many of my staff. The algorithm is weird. Sometimes they easily quit and sometimes they are very resistant. They do eventually quit though.
Like you said they do eventually quit, some do take longer than others but there is no other way to make them quit apart from doing this.
Thanks but my sim has had 3 stress events in one shift and then they had another 3 stress events in the next shift and then another 3 in the following shift etc. There happiness is at its lowest but they still hasn’t quit.
You just have to keep going until they quit, it is really the only way to get rid of them.
The timing of shifts is really strange. Supposed to be able to do 2 in 24 hours but I have to wait until 5 pm for the first shift. That means the second one runs into nighttime when I’m asleep. I’m not going to wake up every hour to accept tours.
I did only 1 shift once and was able to start earlier the next day and get 2 shifts in. But today I’m back to waiting until 5 pm. It’s hard to meet the deadlines when you can’t do 2 shifts.
Can you not do the other shift the next day?
Thanks everyone. I will continue to stress the poor guy out 😁
Hi, do you know what happens if I don’t have enough cafe credits to pay my staff’s wages at the end of a shift?
I have asked the makers and apparently the game just takes as much as it can so you could end up with zero cafe credits but nothing bad will happen.
hi! i can only use two workers per shift(i have 5 hired). even if they are all free and no one is on time off they will still only send two workers and i don’t know how to add more, or is it not possible?
You can only have one member of staff working at a time for each piece of equipment so if you have two baristas you will only be able to use one per shift.
How can you increase earnings in the cafe once it is completely built and there are no more tours?
There isn’t really a way to increase your earnings once the cafe is complete.
My cafe credits to upgrade equipment is way more than what’s listed here. My first upgrade to my coffee machine was over 300, the same for the toaster, I just unlocked the shake maker yesterday. To upgrade it for the first time it says it will cost 1,020 cafe credits. Any idea why mine is so much more expensive?
Thank you! I love your guides, btw! Every time there is an update or event I immediately come here! 🙂
This was increased in a recent update, I have now updated the post so the amounts listed should be correct 🙂
Of course they did!😫
Thank you so much for your help!😊

Can you not do the other shift the next day
I can’t seem to reply directly to your comment. If I do the shift the next day I still only get to do two shifts that day. No matter what I do I lose out on one shift unless I stay up and do it through the night.
If the timer is based on when you start I would suggest that players begin early in the day because there doesn’t seem to be a way around this.
Sorry for the misunderstanding, I meant, can’t you do one in the morning and the other in the evening?
Well I did it, got to level 45 yay!
Luckily I’m retired so I was able to sit through every coach trip and click above the staffs heads every time they got a nasty customer so I didn’t get one staff member quitting on me.
I did however get a couple of staff members who always seemed to want time off and I even caught one or two skiving up the alleyway, I’m like where the heck is so & so then I would find them kicking their heels in the back alley.
I would have liked to be able to fire them.
I just finished the cafe, and I’m a little sad the tours are gone. Now, once you start a shift, it feels like there’s nothing to do. I also hadn’t upgraded all of my equipment yet so it feels like it will take forever to get to the final salad bar item. Any chance they will bring the tours back in the future?
I have passed on your feedback to the makers
I finished level 45 and completed the cafe. But, my workers are still having stress events. Also, I only sent 2 to work. But when I came back an hour later, the game automatically added 4 more workers. I don’t want to pay 6 workers now that I’m not doing tours. Is anyone else experiencing this?
That is strange, I would suggest you contact the makers to see if they can fix this issue for you, this post explains how to contact them if you are unsure: https://thegirlwhogames.blog/2016/05/29/the-sims-freeplay-contacting-ea-firemonkeys/
I accidentally just build the midtown cafe but I don’t want to do this yet with everything else going on! Does the tutorial start immediately after it’s built or can I wait to start the tutorial when I’m ready? Thanks for your blog-it’s so helpful!
The tutorial will start straight away
Hello! Thanks for sharing this! I just got past level 35 and won the prize pack with new panel registers. I tried to put it in the shop but it won’t let me remove the old register. And the employees won’t use the new panel register even if it’s in there. Any ideas? Thanks a bunch!
Those registers are just for use at your homes, sims at the cafe won’t use them. You can change the decor of the existing register under cafe equipment> decor
Hi, thanks for all the info on this game, it’s been quite useful! As for the midtown cafe, I was able to complete all milestones ahead of time (I’m retired and have ample free time) and I’ve got to say now I don’t think it was worth it. Now there are no more tours, so zero chance of making any extra credits, and that means I’m only LOSING credits every shift because I don’t make enough to pay the staff! I would like to fire them and hire lower level (lower salary) specialists but as you’ve already pointed out the makers of the game decided to not allow for that. (But for some reason they included a “remove” selection that is always ghosted?!) I even spent 400 SP to get the extra credits needed for the EXPENSIVE upgrade of the cash register hoping that would at least bump the profits in the green, but nope… still working at a loss. Without tours it is nearly impossible to have enough stress events to get staff to quit, so all that is left is just not to play the cafe at all. Quite disappointed! 😦
I have passed on your feedback to the makers
I’m a little confused about the shift timing. When you start a shift you need to have your device on/active for the whole 4 hours to use the time effectively, right? If I start a shift and serve a tour, for example, and then close the game to go do other things, the shift timer continues and I would lose out on customers, credits, etc. until I return to the game. Is that right?
That is correct, tours are a very active part in the cafe event.
Having now completed midtown cafe I thought I’d point out some things. Once completed you no longer get tours but staff don’t get stressed. So, if you were thinking of upgrading equipment or staff it will be practically impossible to save up enough credits without tours as wages will take most shift earnings. So, whatever credits you have left at the end is what you have to work with for any cafe building. Personally, I found it all very tedious with having to keep going to it every hour in shifts for tours, without being able to break from it due to deadlines. There doesn’t seem much point to it at the end either. The credit amounts needed to upgrade staff and items seemed way too high. After the first cash register upgrade I didn’t notice any difference with the next so didn’t bother trying to upgrade that more. Seemed a waste of credits when I thought it would improve speed.
I have passed on your feedback to the makers.
Now that I have completed the cafe quest, when I start a shift I don’t earn any money. After paying out wages I made negative two coins. Am I suppose to do something different now that I don’t have tours?
Unfortunately that is how it works once tours are no longer available, it is very difficult to make any money.
I finished everything but my Sims can’t use anything in the cafe at all I even had the staff go work there and they ignore my Sims like they did before I finish everything and got the grandprize. Am I missing something or is this a glitch?
This is how the cafe is meant to work, you unlock items for your sims to use at home but the items in the cafe can only be used by the staff working there.
Unfortunately that is how it works once tours are no longer available, it is very difficult to make any money.
Does anyone know If tours are still available after you finish the cafe? I’ve made it to level 45 and I completed it within the time limit with 3 days left & now when I click under the Cafe tab where tours were it pops up with a risky and challenging tour but when I click accept nothing happens. Please help. Also did anyone else not receive the home templates from palm promenade, & cactus cave, tree top & forest?
Tours are no longer available once the cafe is complete.
As for the missing house templates, I would suggest you contact the makers to see if they can fix this issue for you, this post explains how to contact them if you are unsure: https://thegirlwhogames.blog/2016/05/29/the-sims-freeplay-contacting-ea-firemonkeys/
Hi,
Just wanted to share info for Level 35 on the Prize Pack, if one misses the timeline and it is expired. It is at 300SP.
Thank you! I’ve added that to the post.
As always, thanks for the excellent summary!
I don’t know if anyone else is having this issue but as of yesterday my game crashes every time I try to enter/load the cafe. It happens on both a phone and a tablet and I’ve reinstalled the game on both devices. I submitted a ticket.
Have you heard anything back from your ticket to support?
I got advice for those who accidentaly hired more staff than needed. Be there at least few minutes before the shift ends. Send all those who are not working home for time off. Wait for end of the shift. It seems to me that all who are home are not getting paid. Also, if you see you gonna need upgrade some of the equipment soon, do it asap you got the money during the shift. Its better than not to have them later because you paid wages.
Thanks for the great tips!
For tour customer’s order numbers, it depends on numbers of employee or numbers of other thing?
I think it is based on the level your cafe is, the higher the level, the harder the tours.
