Once you have completed the Multi Story Renovations Quest and DIY Homes: Peaceful Patios Quest you will be able to find Bree again in the park to begin this quest (you will find her 24 hours after you have completed both of those quests) If you complete this quest in the time limit you will unlock the planters and decorative privacy screens, you can still complete this quest once the time limit is up to unlock balconies but you won’t get the planters or screens
You cannot complete this quest at the same time as any other discovery quest
HOW LONG DOES THIS QUEST TAKE TO COMPLETE?
Times may vary depending on the star rating the item has
- Say hello to Bree- 2 minutes (at the park)
- Ask Bree what’s up- 5 minutes
- Watch a DIY homes marathon- 15 hours (on TV)
- Research competitors on a computer- 10 hours
- Go to the DIY home (call the cab on a phone)
- Brainstorm with Bree- 5 hours 30 minutes
- Have 2 sims at the DIY home
- Explain role to another sim- 35 minutes (select interaction between two sims)
- Examine the cameras- 13 hours 30 minutes (select option on one camera at the DIY home)
- Have 2 sims rehearse flirting- 10 minutes (select interaction between two sims)
- Make out on a couch- 16 minutes (using the make out couch in the basement at the DIY home (if won in patio quest you can do this at home) one sim selects wait for partner, the other sim selects make out for 16 minutes
- Have 2 sims waltz together- 21 hours 30 minutes (select option on stereo with two sims)
- Court another sim- 6 hours 30 minutes (select interaction between two sims)
- Kiss another sim- 1 minute (select interaction between two sims)
- Hide behind a bed- 12 minutes (select option on bed)
- Chat with grim- 45 minutes (click on the grim reaper)
- Read the original play- 1 day (DIY home bookshelf) 19 hours if done on a 3 star bookshelf
- Offer grim a new role- 5 minutes (click on the grim reaper)
- Act out the scene with the grim- 12 hours 30 minutes (click on the grim reaper)
- Reshoot kissing scene- 5 minutes (select kiss on another sim)

- Build a balcony at home (on a two story house)
To build a balcony, touch and drag anywhere within the highlighted areas
Like building a room, green means you can build, red means that there is something in the way, you can also resize a balcony by dragging the white highlighted edges.
And like building a pool you can join balconies together

How do I start this discovery quest?
Once you have completed the multi story renovations quest and the patio quest you need to wait 24 hours then you can find Bree (the woman in the hard hat) in the park to start this quest
Why can’t I do this discovery quest yet?
You cannot do more than one discovery quest at the same time, if you are currently on another one (the list can be found here) you will not be able to do this one until that one is completed
Can I do discovery quests at the same time as a main quest?
Yes you can
Do I have to do this quest?
If you don’t start the quest you don’t have to do it at all but if you have already started it you need to complete it before you can move on to the next quest
I haven’t started this quest yet, will it still be available when I want to do it?
Yes it will be, you can choose to start it whenever you like
How do I call a cab to the DIY house?
Using a phone
The goal court another sim is stuck, what can I do?
You may need to use an LP to speed up this goal
I selected listen on Grim rather than chat now I can’t cancel this, help!
Force closing the app and leaving it a while before checking back in usually fixes this issue

I had all sims leave the DIY home but it didn’t complete the goal, why?
Try and have all your sims not doing any action, this sometimes makes the game recognise you have completed that goal
What do I get if I complete this quest in the time limit?

What happens if I don’t complete in the time limit, can I still finish this quest?
Yes you have to finish it to unlock the ability to build balconies before you can move onto the next quest
I didn’t complete in the time limit, can I restart the quest?
No, you cannot redo quests
Can I still get the prize if I don’t complete in the time limit?
No, the only way to get the limited time prizes is by completing the quest in the time limit

No, you have to complete this quest before you can move onto the next one now that you have started it, if you don’t start it you don’t have to do it

You can water or admire the planters to increase fun levels so no they aren’t like garden plots

i have begun the basement quest but only built a small basement area and I have tried to add basement stairs but it won’t let me. Both rooms on the 1st floor and the basement are empty. So my Sim has no way to go down to the basement to futile the next task. Help! Please!
When you try adding stairs if it is red then there is something in the way on the floor above, you will need to rearrange items on the ground floor to place stairs in the basement

For the “read the original play” task, you have the option of just using one of the bookshelves you own rather than using the one at the DIY House. That way you can do the task on a three-star bookshelf (19 hours) instead of the one-star bookshelf at the DIY House (24 hours).

Anyone have troubles comforting the Grim Reaper? It sims won’t interact with him. And my younger than senior sims can’t see him. Help!

FYI, It did not require me to build a balcony to finish the request. Maybe a glitch with mine? It went from send email to wrap up with Bree, and then completed the quest.

I’m having a problem…I guess I could just get the 10 LP and finish the quest…but for the “Examine the cameras”, my sim won’t finish it. It’s stuck on a loop, of 10 hours…the minutes don’t budge either…just the seconds. When the seconds get to zero…it just starts over again. I’m forever sitting at 10 hours 25 mins. As I said, I’ll just get the LP and finish the quest…but aggrevating. Anyone else having this problem?
strange glitch, you can either use LPs or contact EA to see if they can fix this issue for you

I had this same problem!! Mine said 0 seconds but they kept going. I ended up caving and using one LP but mine did go all the way down to 0 as opposed to staying at the 10 hours.

when they release the quest, I start the quest at the same time as you.
For the “read the original play” and “email scenes to the network” goals, you can send your Sim home to do those tasks on three-star furniture instead of at the DIY house. The “read the original play” becomes 19 hours and the “email scenes” becomes 28 minutes if you do this.

When i started balcony quest i got a pop up and it said if I will complete this quest in time i will get planters, privacy screens… and outdoor staircases. Soo the question is how can i build OUTDOOR staircases??? I cant see this option i can add stairs only inside the house

Hey guys. since our life saver “The Girl Who Games” is currently unavailable i found a solution before the sims freeplay management discovers this (well actually its not like a glitch of some sort). this tactic i discovered is rather helpful to me. Here: I made a lot filled with the items such as the telescope, podium and other things that commonly appear in the neighborhood quest. youve got plenty of options, you could rather put those things in one of the sim house/s. (put things like some ghostly items, elevators, pets like cats, dogs and other things that might help you accomplish the task). i also have a dummy or second account. in my ACTIVE town (the one which you are actually playing or using), i opened the ACCOUNT MANAGER. (also make sure your main facebook account is logged out) then “log out” then i signed in my dummy account. then i opened THE CLOUD and it says upload saved data. i waited for about 5 mins. i did stuff in the town etc. then on the facebook app. i logged out my dummy account. then opened the sims freeplay app, went to app manager, signed out the dummy account, then signed in my main account, opened the cloud and uploaded the saved data. then in my neighbors, i saw my dummy account and tada! it worked perfectly. so guys i dont know if this will mess your game but actually i doesnt mess my game. so if you want to try this out, have fun. also im an android user hope it works on ios. 😀
I really want balconies and basements but I haven’t completed the multi-story renovations quest, will the Balcony and Basement quests stay until I finish the multi-story renovations quest or will it disappear at the next update?

I’m stuck at comfort grim. I keep trying to click on grim at the DIY house but it won’t work. I’ve used every age level of sim except baby of course and it isn’t working. Do you have any advice?
Never mind. I figured it out. I had a senior sim who needed to move on so as long as they were at the DIY house the grim wouldn’t do anything.

When I did the examine cameras task which was supposed to take 10 hours 30 mins, my sim somehow finished it in minutes and I could go on to the next task. Don’t know if this is a glitch or if anybody had the same thing happen. I’m not complaining though, it saves me a lot of time 😀

Wow I’m pretty sure I had the opposite glitch – I started the task early in the morning and checked back in the afternoon and it said the Sim had only just started it (still have 10h27m remaining or something like that. Lucky for you guys 😛
I had this happen too! A great glitch. I think maybe the reason is that I already had two sims there, and it said ‘Examine the cameras’ so i figured that maybe I needed one sim for each of the camera’s. So I put the two sims that were already there on the task, and was just about to whistle some more when the task completed.
So maybe having two sims on the same task was what made the difference?

Hi, I have a problem. I’ve got two married couples in one house (an older couple with their daughter and her husband). But the younger couple seem not to be able to have children! Can I do something about that? I tried to relocate one sim, but they said I can’t separate married sims. 😦
they won’t be able to have children while they are living with 2 other sims as you can only have 4 sims living in a house at a time, if it won’t let you separate them they will have to be negative until they get the divorce option and then one can move out then you can remarry them but this is a lot of hassle
Hi, great website/guide and have been using it for ages….I have completed all the Balcony and patio quests in the time limits but can’t seem to find how to build a basements. Are there any specific requirements you need or is it a case of it hasn’t been released yet? I am lead to believe it won’t be a quest?

I finished the Peaceful Patios quest and have been waiting on the Balcony quest to start. I’m pretty sure I completed the Multi-story quest (most of my houses are 2-3 stories currently and I have the option to add a fourth). But a message just popped up that said something like, “Come complete the multi-story quest to build up to 5 levels.” Bree hasn’t appeared at the Community Centre yet. Do you think it could be glitched?

Ok now that we can build all these houses with many stories ( basement too soon) how do you manage with only 34 sims max? There are the houseboats, the S and P multiple lots and now up to 5 floors. Can we go higher than 34? Do we still have a list to give EA for new features we would like and is increasing the number of sims in town included in the list? What about having more than 2 kids? How do you fill in a 2-store mansion with 3 kids bedrooms unless you need to have all divorced couples?

And you can still only have 4 sims in a house at one time, divorcing wouldn’t work though as you can’t make a new baby without a married couple living at that house

Finished the peaceful patios and waited for multistory quest. It never arrived, but today I tested and was able to add a fourth floor to one of my buildings… No balcony quest and/or basement quests either… Glitch? Reinstalled app twice already.
You must have already done the multi story renovations quest then, go to the community center and you should find Bree to start the balcony quest
Sometimes, when I start an action it’ll proceed like normal. But once I exit and come back, the action hasnt progressed. Like if the action takes 10 hours and I exit the game when it has 9hours and 50 minutes left. Itll be at 9hours and 50minutes when I come back after a while. Anyway to fix this? Ive already tried restarting the action.
have you tried restarting your device?
If that still doesn’t work you might need to contact EA to see if they can fix this problem for you without you using LPs to speed it up
