There are now three profession careers; Police, Filmmaker and Medical Staff so I thought it would be a good idea to make a post explaining how these profession careers work.
You can find specific information on each profession career by clicking on these links:
Police, Filmmaker & Medical Staff
What is the difference between professions and normal careers?
Professions are still careers but you can go with your sim to the workplace and while they are there they help sims to earn resources, these resources are used to build and upgrade areas inside the workplace called workstations.
Professions Training Quest
Once you have built a profession workplace the Professions Training Quest will begin (there is no time limit to this you just have to complete it before you can send anymore sims to work there- and yes you can complete it at the same time as other quests)
It is more of a tutorial than a quest
NOTE: you will only receive this quest the first time you build a profession workplace so when you reach level 6 in another profession it will not appear again, this quest below shows the police profession but it is the same for all professions.
- Visit the police station
- Send a sim to work at the police station (give them a job at the police station the same way you usually give them a job then click on the suitcase to send a sim to work- select accompany sim to go to the station with them)
- Help a sim at the police station- tap a bubble that appears over a sims head and complete one of the tasks
- Help again at the police station- complete the second task on the bubble
- Check workplace overview (found in the profession menu in the top left on your screen while at the police station)
- Check workplace storage (second tab in the profession menu)
- Help a sim at the police station
- Check the work shift quota- this can be found on the work bar:
- Fulfil special requests- this is a task where the bubble shows a question mark instead of the resource, complete the tasks to find out what resource you will be rewarded
- Trade resources (third tab in the profession menu)
- Upgrade a workstation- click on a green arrow at one of the workstations to get the option to upgrade it
- Complete the remaining work day- either keep helping sims, leave your sim to work or click on the red cross on the work bar and then on complete shift (this will usually cost you LPs
QUEST IS COMPLETE!
Once you complete the quest you can send other sims to work there
How do I help sims?
When you send a sim to work sims will enter with bubbles above their heads, you need to click on this bubble and select one of the tasks that appears, the amount of grey sections there are tells you how many tasks you have to complete before you earn the reward (which is a resource) that is pictured in the middle of the bubble:
Each task has to be completed in a different workstation and only one sim can use a workstation at one time (new tasks will be added when you unlock new workstations)
Each time your sims complete a task (that section will turn from grey to green) a coin bubble will appear above their head, click this and they will earn coins and XPs, the experience points are towards levelling up, so they will level up quicker than if you just sent them to work.
Once all the tasks have been completed all the grey sections will now appear green, click on this to receive your reward.
Sometimes you may see a question mark appear in the bubble instead of a resource, this is a mystery resource, you will find out what it is when you complete the tasks:
Does the same sim have to complete all the tasks when they help a sim?
No they don’t
Can I send one of the sims away if I don’t want to help them right now?
No, they will stay at the workplace until you help them
What are resources used for?
The resources are used to build and upgrade the different workstations within the workplace.
Build new workstations to unlock new resources
Coins are used to increase your storage and trade for resources
Can I send my sim to work on their own like a normal career? Will they still collect resources?
Yes you can send them to work on their own and they will still level up however they will level up slower than if they help sims and they will not collect any resources.
What is the work shift quota?
The work shift quota shows how many sims you need to help within the shift to finish their shift early and earn bonus resources
What are the workstations?
Rookie:
- Training Center
- Front Desk
- Surveillance Van
Once your sim reaches level 6 you can decide which career to specialise them in: either Metro Police or Special Agent, you will need to have a sim as each to be able to unlock the other workstations
Metro Police:
- Squad Car- level 6 Metro Police
- Jail Cells- level 7 Metro Police
- K-9 Unit- level 8 Metro Police
- Chiefs Office- level 9 Metro Police
Only the metro police officer will be able to complete tasks to help sims that require one of the workstations above
Special Agent:
- Interview Room- level 6 Special Agent
- Sketch Room- level 7 Special Agent
- Forensics Lab- level 8 Special Agent
- Division 51- level 9 Special Agent
Only the special agent will be able to complete tasks to help sims that require one of the workstations above
Crew:
- Security Booth
- Golf Cart
- Catering Area
Once your sim reaches level 6 you can decide which career to specialise them in: either Director or Performer, you will need to have a sim as each to be able to unlock the other workstations
Director:
- Costume Department- level 6 Director
- Hair and Makeup Department- level 7 Director
- Stunt Set- level 8 Director
- Directors Trailer- level 9 Director
Only the director will be able to complete tasks to help sims that require one of the workstations above
Performer:
- Audition Room- level 6 Performer
- Voice-over Booth- level 7 Performer
- Film Set- level 8 Performer
- A-list Celebrity Trailer- level 9 Performer
Only the performer will be able to complete tasks to help sims that require one of the workstations above
Intern:
- Janitor Closet
- Admin
- Physical Aid
Once your sim reaches level 6 you can decide which career to specialise them in: either Nurse or Doctor, you will need to have a sim as each to be able to unlock the other workstations
NOTE: you can only have one sim as a nurse and one sim as a doctor
Nurse:
- Pharmacy- level 6 Nurse
- Triage- level 7 Nurse
- Radiology- level 8 Nurse
- Ward- level 9 Nurse
Only the nurse will be able to complete tasks to help sims that require one of the workstations above
Doctor:
- General Practice- level 6 Doctor
- Psychiatrist’s Office- level 7 Doctor
- Research Laboratory- level 8 Doctor
- Surgery Room- level 9 Doctor
Only the doctor will be able to complete tasks to help sims that require one of the workstations above
What do you get for upgrading workstations?
Each time you upgrade a workstation one of the following will happen:
- The time taken to complete the task will decrease
- The amount of coins you receive will increase
- The amount of XPs you receive will increase
YOU WILL NOT GET ALL OF THESE UPGRADES EACH TIME, ONLY ONE
Each workstation can be upgraded 20 times
Check out my Police, Filmmaker & Medical Staff posts for information on each upgrade
Why do I need to be VIP 7 to upgrade a workstation?
You don’t! If you are VIP 7 you can upgrade two workstations at once, if you aren’t you will need to wait for the previous workstation upgrade to complete before upgrading the next.
Why is it costing me LPs to build a workstation?
This is because you do not have enough resources to build or upgrade the workstation yet, just help sims and collect the resources to be able to build without it costing you LPs
Can I buy another one of each workstation?
No you cannot
How can I earn the resources I need quicker?
Watch this video:
Professions Menu
You can access this using the button in the top left hand corner of your screen when you are at the profession workplace
Workplace Overview- here you can see the workstations you have currently unlocked, what level you are on and what resources you need to upgrade them
Storage- this is where you see your current resources collected and on the right hand side is your coins, the coins are used to increase your storage if you need to and trade for resources (which is in the next tab)
How do I increase my storage space?
Go to the Storage tab and click on increase storage, this will cost you coins:
NOTE: if you don’t have enough coins this will cost you LPs, just collect more coins and you will be able to use the coins to upgrade your storage
What is the maximum storage space for each profession career?
Police is 5000, Filmmaker and Medical Staff are both 2600
What should I do if I run out of storage space?
You can sell any unwanted resources, go to the storage tab and click on the simoleon symbol next to a resource and select the amount you want to sell for simoleons:
Resource Exchange- here you can either spin for resources using simoleons or LPs for the mega spin as well as trade coins for resources
How does the resource spin work?
There are two resource spins:
- Resource spin costing simoleons- available for everyone, click to spin and it will spin and then you can claim your resources
- Mega spin costing LPs- only available for VIP level 2 players, works the same as the other spin but will give you more resources.
NOTE: You can only use both of these every 4 hours unless you pay 4LPs to spin again straight away
How does trading for resources work?
On the left you have the item you are trading and on the right you have the item you will receive for trading, click trade
Reaching Level 6- Specialising a Sim
Once you reach level 6 for the first time a new quest will begin (it isn’t really a quest and yes you can do it at the same time as other quests) It shows you how to select the specialist for your sim and how to get promoted
Professions: Specialisation Training
- Assign a specialist to a level 6 sim- click on the occupations (career) tab, find the level 6 sim and choose one of the two options for that career:
NOTE: you can only have one sim on each of these options
- Fulfil a profession badge- check the occupations tab to find out what you need to do to complete this, I had help 3 sims, to complete this I needed to help 3 sims that came to the workplace by completing all of the tasks
Each sim can only earn one badge per shift and you need all badges before you will be able to level up in that career
If you don’t manage to complete a badge in a shift the progress for that badge will reset and you will have start again on the next shift (for example, if your task is to help 2 important sims and you only help one, in your next shift it will reset so you will have to help 2 important sims in that shift to get the badge)
Each level requires you to complete more badges, you cannot level up until all the badges have been collected.
- Build a workstation at a profession workplace- if you do not have the right amount of resources it will say it costs LPs to build- just help sims to gain resources and it won’t cost you LPs
Who are the important sims I need to help to get a badge?
These are the sims with question marks in the bubbles above their heads
Reaching Level 10
When you reach level 10 in a profession career you unlock the work outfit in that specialist for a female and male adult sim to wear at any time!

Find them in the wardrobe under outfits once you reach level 10
Orange Suitcase? Can’t send your sims to work?
This is because you have already sent them to work once today, if you are VIP level 1 you can send them to work twice in a day (this will cost you 15LPs still if you are VIP)
Wait until tomorrow and you will be able to send them to work again without being VIP.
Do I need to be VIP to use profession workplaces?
NO! If you are VIP you can send your sims to work twice a day (VIP level 1), upgrade more than one workstation at a time (VIP level 7) and use the mega spin (VIP level 2) but you do not need to be VIP
How do I cancel a work shift?
Click on the red cross on the sims need bar and select cancel shift
My sims are ageing to seniors before they have reached the highest level, what can I do?
I have given my sims who I want to specialise in each of the profession careers a platinum orb (read this post if you are unsure how to do that)
You could reverse their ageing (again read the post linked above) when they come to the end of their time as an adult but this is going to cost you a lot of LPs! It may be worth doing this while you are working on getting a platinum orb so you don’t have to start from level 1 with another sim and have to go through the ageing all over again!
How do you level up quicker?
The only way to level up quicker is to go to work each day and help the amount of sims needed to fulfil your work quota each day but you need to remember that each time you level up it will take you longer to reach the next level
If you are trying to complete the movie star career quicker you can use the movie camera from the promotions r store to level them up quicker
TIP: the higher level a workstation is the more career experience points you will to level up quicker
Who is this sim (pictured below) who appears?
He is the courier for the simtown market event, he will appear at the profession workplace where the event is taking place. If you complete all the tasks he has before the time above the bubble is up you will earn a market token needed to ship some orders (other orders need workplace resources to ship) You need to ship orders to fill up the bar and earn prizes:
What is the simtown market?
Give this post a read for more information on the simtown market and events!
Remember:
- You can only send two sims to work to help sims, all other sims will be working ‘offsite’ so they will still go to work but you will not see them, like normal careers (even when your level increases you can still only have two there)
- Only one sim can use a workstation at a time
- Important sims are the ones with question marks in the bubbles above their heads
- If you send a sim to work without going with them they will still level up but just slower than if they help sims and they will not earn any resources
- You can only upgrade one workstation at a time unless you are VIP 7
- Each workstation can be upgraded 20 times
- It will cost you LPs to build a workstation if you do not have enough resources, help more sims to collect the resources to build the workstation without LPs
- You can only have one sim in each specialism
- Only the sim in that specialism can use the workstations, for example only the Performer can complete the Film Set actions
- If you are VIP you get some perks but you don’t need to be VIP!
- There is no time limit on completing a profession career and workplace, you can take as long as you like!

Profession Careers: Police, Filmmaker & Medical Staff
thanks for your blog its the only thing that makes sense and has all the awnsers online!
You’re welcome!
Your blog is awesome and so helpful! I’m curious though is it better to focus on upgrading “stations” or build the next one? Like right now I’m working on jail cell n sketch room but all my other stations are at around level 5-8. I wonder which is more efficient.
I’m working on building the next one, as build requires a lot more resources than upgrading but I don’t suppose it really matters
Does anybody know the specifics as to why there is such an emense difference between the number you have to help to “complete” a shift? (25 people versus 15 people)
The police actions are shorter so you can complete 25 in about the same amount of time as you can complete 15 at the movie studio (would be great if they were both lower though in my opinion!)
Just wanted to inform those afflicted with the completion time issue .. if you wait until the sim has officially started on the task (i.e the timer officially starts counting down), the time shown reverts to the lower time of the upgraded offices.
I would refrain from using your LPS until they officially start the task.
Doesn’t work for me!
I have been stuck for 3 days now with my two sims in the police station. Every time I click on an interaction with the jail cells it tells me that a sim is already using it. What can I do to fix this? I’m sitting around because it has only allowed 3 visitors and they all need this action to finish and leave. Any help would be appreciated.
Do you happen to have a sim standing around with a police coin bubble above their head? If so click on this. If not it is a glitch, when this happens to me I usually visit the simtown map then go back to the police station, you could also try restarting your device then trying again, if neither of these work if your sim can do a different task then do that first, hopefully after completing that task you will be able to use the workstation again.
I aggressively went at it with the Movie Star career and have reached level 10 with both specialties. Kind of disappointed that nothing uniquely special happens once you get there. I guess I could just keep doing the tasks and collecting items until I have every workstation at the max levels, but then for what? None of my other sims will be able to do anything with them because of the limit to one sim per specialty. It feels like I grabbed a chocolate chip cookie, took a bite, and found out it was oatmeal raisin.
Hello! I am beyond grateful to you that you update your blog frequently and help us all out. I do have a question which I am hoping you can help answer. One of my sims is a level 8 special agent (police) and is working on his first badge, which is to collect 20 donut resources. I have tried so many times each day to collect as many donuts as possible, but the highest percentage that I have ever gotten is 60%. Do you have any tips? Have you yourself gotten stuck on this or have others gotten stuck? Thank you!!
There isn’t really any tricks to this, it is about lucky really, you just have to have the right people turn up with the donuts unfortunately so all you can do is keep trying until you can complete this!
Just updated to the doctors update and they have now added that you get the police commissioner outfit and the sim-in-black outfit in the wardrobe to wear not only at the police station, once they reach lol 10 in their profession. That’s an improvement. 🙂
Its a start but they still needs more improvements!
What else is new with the hospital update? Well—–the sp flower now requires 20 lp’s (instead of the previous 5) and you mostly win only 3 or 5 sp’s. The max you can win is 500 – but I don’t expect that to happen. So I spent 80 lp’s (not realizing I was spending 20 at a time) and won 14 sp —- what a shock! Hopefully we won’t have another quest where LOTS of sp are needed as I have no neighbours for collecting them. So much for getting the fondue set! Maybe spending 10 lp’s to skip a task to get sp from the in game neighbour is now the way to go (remember when it was only 5 lp’s to skip a task?). The game is getting very hard to play!!!
Hi girlwhogames, I updated my game and it gave me the option to go to the “downtown” area without building the express. I chose to start building the hospital but now I can’t get figure out how to get back to the downtown area to complete the building, that way I can build the express. Any ideas? Thanks so much!
I have heard of a lot of people having this problem, it definitely is a glitch taking you to downtown before the simtown express is built as there is no way to get back there to finish construction on the hospital. I would suggest you contact EA about this issue, hopefully they will be able to fix it for you!
Hi, my sim is a trainee at police station .. Why I can’t use the surveillance van to complete task .. It said another sim is using it .. But no one there and only one sim working there .. Now I cant complete my shift quota and all left with the surveillance van task undo.. What should I do ..
When this happens to me I usually go to the simtown map then go back to the police station, this usually fixes this issue, if they doesn’t work then if your sim can complete another task first then do that, then you should be able to use the van again.
Hi!
I was wondering what is the highest career level you can reach if your sims are “off site” for work in the filmmaking and police work careers?
I already have 2 Sims specialized in each career and wanted to add more Sims working at the movie set. So these extra Sims can reach level 5 as the highest or can they also reach level 10 while working offsite?
Your input will be really appreciated! 🙂 Thanks so much!
If you have two specialised sims already then all other sims can only reach the start of level 6, but they cannot level up anymore than that. Even if you went to work with these sims they still wouldn’t be able to level up anymore as only specialised sims can reach level 10
Thanks so much! 😀
I’m frustrated with this career thing. I have two sims ready to level up. They each needed to help two vip sims. In the five hours I sat there playing, I was sent exactly ZERO vip sims!
I know, this happens to me a lot, it is really frustrating!
Hi girlwhogames, I updated my game and it gave me the option to go to the “downtown” area without building the express. I chose to start building the hospital but now I can’t get figure out how to get back to the downtown area to complete the building, that way I can build the express. Any ideas? Thanks so much!
You will need to contact EA about this issue so they can fix this for you.
You have probably started back to school now (just like here in Canada) and are probably feeling lot’s of pressure. I just wanted to encourage you and to let you know that I am praying for you. I don’t know what career path you are on but I believe that the organizational and intellectual skills you are learning doing this site will pay off big time for you in the future. Keep doing the blogs because you have organizational skills that you just have to use not because you feel you have to do it so you don’t let people down. There will always be negative people! You have a very exciting life ahead of you! No need to post this comment – I know you get them.
Oh thank you so much Gail for your kind words! Somedays when I get comments from people telling me I am evil I wonder why I bother but lovely comments like this remind me why I do this 🙂
And this comment didn’t freak me out at all- it was very much appreciated! It’s just been a long couple of weeks so my replies have been a little slow, sorry! Thank you again 🙂
People tell you you’re evil? 😦 I don’t understand what’s wrong with people. Ignore it…they’re jealous of what you’ve done with your life so far! I absolutely love your website and it has helped me SO much with the Sims. You’re amazing.
Remember: “Haters don’t really hate you, they hate themselves; because you’re a reflection of what they wish to be” ― Yaira N
Unfortunately they do!
Oh thank you so much, I really appreciate it! 🙂
I’ve reached level 9 in the police station and I’ve unlocked the chief’s office and division 51, how do I get the gold shield that is required to build it?
Sims do come in occasionally offering the golden shields but if you are desperate then you can trade 10 police tape and 10 recorders for one of them.
I am not getting any visitors at the movie studio which I can help.. Any idea how to get them?
Why can’t you help them?
Question – do you know which personality traits go with the Police and Medical careers? I know that if you pick the creative personality trait, you have the option of choosing to work at the movie studio as your life goal, but I can’t figure it out for the other two professional careers. Thanks!
There isn’t a personality for police or medical right now. Going to work as an actor was always a life dream so they just renamed it when the movie star update was released but they haven’t added new ones for police or medical.
Does each Sim have to go through the process of collecting badges to level up past 6, or does the first one pave the way for the others? My Sims are still aging and I am wondering if I’m wasting my time and should just wait till I have the platinum orbs.
Only two sims in each profession can level up past level 6. But yes both of these sims need to earn badges to be able to reach the next level.
If one of your sims was to age and die before they reached the highest level a new sim would have to start from level 1 and again earn the badges they need to level up from level 6.
Thank you. and great page you have here, it’s been very helpful. 🙂
You’re welcome and thanks! 🙂
I don’t understand the purpose of these careers. At the higher levels it is costing me LPs to be able to get the badges. They go to work just to update the workplace. Once the workplace is updated, I will NEVER send the sim to work at this career again since THEY DON’T EARN MONEY WHEN THEY GO TO WORK. I am better off having them garden than go to work now. I’m working on the police station and the movie studio but I have no intention of ever sending a sim to work at the hospital. This is NOT fun and I don’t EARN anything for all the work. All I get is a USELESS fully upgraded workplace.
Who are the ‘important Sims’ in the Movie Lot in order to help my Sim reach the goal of helping 2 important Sims?
The answer to this question can be found in the post, please read it.
Ok, so I ally don’t like riddles, so once again who are the ‘Important Sims’ in the Movie Lot? At the police station, they are Children, but there aren’t any children at the Movie Lot. Please help!
It’s not a riddle! It clearly says in the post you are commenting on, you just need to read it.
The important sims are the ones with the pink question marks in the bubble above their heads, in future please read the post.
Thanks, that’s exactly what I needed, a straight answer! It would have been easier for me if that info was given in your initial response! Have a great day!
It would be easier for me if people would read the post instead of asking something that is clearly answered in the post. You would have found the answer a lot quicker if you just read the post- which is exactly why I write these posts!
The Internet at its finest. People shouldn’t use the anonymity they receive on the internet as a weapon for their animosity. Thank you for running this blog – I see it can be a thankless job someways.
You’re welcome, thank you for your comment!
Hi, first off I love your blog! But I had a question about the profession workplaces. When you get to level 10 with a career, and that sim dies, do the next sims start over at level 1 and have to go through the same process? I’m asking because I want a different sim to get a job as a doctor than the one that is working right now, but I don’t want to lose my progress. Does that make sense?
Thanks! Yes when your sims die the new sim will have to start from level 1 but you will not have to unlock all the workstations again, you will just have to unlock any that the previous sim did not unlock. So if you wanted a new sim as doctor that new sim would be level 1
Don’t know if this helps…. but I’ve adopted the following strategies;
– for professions – the SIM doesn’t do anything but work
– I have at least three SIMs in each profession I am working on – one to specialise in each type, and one to “do tasks quicker”
– at each time… I have one specialist and one “normal” SIM – with the “normal” SIM quitting before it finishes its task – this allows the specialist to work on “special” tasks and “normal” to “mop-up” – hopefully finishing quicker than if two specialists work at the same time
– for “donut” collecting… I send the SIMs who don’t need donuts to work…. and get four “donut” SIMs on screen – before aborting one… to let in the specialist…. which means you are “almost” there as soon as you start… Same works for “important” SIMs
.
There are other things as well… but these seem to help… (although the “bug” was bext when the professions were first introduced !!)
Thanks for this! I tend to just send nonspecialist sims there to complete the shift to earn the resources I need as they only have to do the quickest tasks! I only send the specialist sims if I need to level them up or collect badges, once I have unlocked all the workstations I won’t be sending them again to complete the long tasks!
Im stuck up the movie professions training . There is nonbody to help and the director icon is greyed out.
What is the director task you want to do?
Is it actually possible to help all 25 people in one shift at the police station? I have 2 sims working there, each one a specialty on level 9. I send them to work in the morning (when I get to work) and I play all day, keeping mental tabs what time they’ll be done with each task and checking back to have them move on to the next. But the tasks take sooo long now (up to an hour each) and it is just more frustrating than fun anymore. I don’t have enough resources yet to build the last two rooms upstairs, but I still get people that come in with those tasks and neither of my sims can help them. And the rooms upstairs will take thousands of LPs to build without the resources. UGH.
One other question. Is there a way to get the badge resources? I need 5 to build each room, but none of the people that come to the station offer the badge. Is the only way to get them to trade other resources for them? This is going to take a lifetime.
Love your blog btw. Thanks for all the time and work you put into it. A lot of people appreciate you.
it is possible but I tend to use non specialised sims as they only get the first three workstations so you can complete it much quicker than using specialised sims, I know that won’t help you level up your sims to level 10 but you will be able to earn resources quicker.
Sims do come in occasionally offering the golden shields but if you are desperate then you can trade 10 police tape and 10 recorders for one of them.
Thanks and you’re welcome!
Hi,
What do I do if i have a specialized sim with that level 6 upgrade built but another specialized sim without that level 6 upgrade built and i get patrons who all need to the specialized action? If i send both sims to work at the same time then i can have the one sim help with all the non specialized items while the specialized sim just does the 25 minute specialized actions. Yet unless i’m careful about switching off between which one does the last action, i will not get both sims to fulfill their quota by the end of the shift and the one specialized sim will get off work early while the other one will not be able to finish helping people because almost all of them need the specialized action to be performed!
Any advice? sorry for the long and complicated question.
I’ve noticed that sometimes if I leave my sim standing around waiting for the final task to be completed the quota completes for both of them at the same time. This doesn’t always happen though, when it doesn’t I have to put the sim who is still at work to complete another task and once that is done their shift will complete.
If you only have one sim who is nonspecialist working there and the only actions left are specialist then wait for a few minutes because one of those sims should leave and give you a task that you can actually do. I usually send nonspecialist sims to work to complete the quota quickly to earn resources and they are only given tasks that require the first 3 workstations so this should hopefully work for you too! The other method is to be careful with who completes that last task.
Thanks for all the work you put into your blog, it’s been very helpful. I tried sending a nonspecialist to work in both police station and movie studio, and I’ve waited a while for the sims to leave, but they never do. Is there a trick to it? I’ve been using 2 specialized sims this entire time and I can never complete their quota without using lifestyle points. It’s very discouraging. Using your trick would be a huge help.
Strange, the sims usually leave for me!
Maybe try sending a specialised sim there to help on of the people then cancel their shift- hopefully a sim will appear with tasks you can actually complete!
Hey! I find your blog really helpful! I just have a question about the badges. Does somethimg particular happen, when you collect all of them? Because I don’t know if it is worth trying to get all three of them. It is too time consuming for me. I would really like to know if it is worth the hard work.
Thank you in advance and keep up the great work! 🙂
I’m glad it helps! When your sim collects all the badges they will be able to level up in that career, without the badges they cannot level up.
You’re welcome and thanks 🙂
Thank you very much for your reply! Have a nice day! 🙂
I don’t understand when I send them to work it needs VIP perks
and I don’t even had a real money in my account? I really need help
Have you read the post you are commenting on as this is explained in the post.
hi girlwhogames.
so i sent my sims to work at a hospital and currently using the physical aid section. But when i came back, they’re finished and as soon as i clicked the next patient, it says the physical aid is currently on use but there’s no one there. what should i do? pls help
When this happens to me I usually send that sim on a different task and then they can use the workstation that is apparently in use the next time.
Hey, you know how the guitar helps the musicians and the hydrant helps the fire fighter? Is there something to help the police?
There is currently nothing for police to use to increase their career level.
Isn’t even possible to collect thousands item to unlock the rooms? Dont like this update… T.T but i love your blog… Since the first time i played this game..years ago.. Very good…
Possible? Yes. Takes a very long time? Oh yes!
Thanks!
Need help. I got stuck in level 8 both in police and movie makers. The resources like tape recorder in police are so rare. If I got one in one day, in the following day the requesting number went reset or went back to 0 instead of 1/3. So could I completele the task if the resources are so rare and it didn’t count the one completed resource?
Unfortunately you have to find all 3 on the same shift to complete the badge otherwise it will reset for the next shift. You just have to keep going, eventually sims will come in with the resources you need.
This is where it is good to have some “not specialised” sims… When I need a rare resource, I send the non-specialised SIMS to work… and keep finishing the non required resources…. until you eventually get enough… if you hover over the resource it shows how many you will get when you complete… so normally you can get enough almost as soon as you start the shift….
Another trick is to use the “spin wheel”… if it spins to the resource you need… don’t collect it… until you have the SIM you need working… sometimes the picture changes… but it will reward with the first one you spun.
Finally… if you get a VIP SIM… with the right number (you can tell it will be one of two resources… so that MIGHT help)… If you get a VIP sim that looks possible… start the specialised SIM… collect the VIP SIM… if it is right… good… if not… abort… and re-start the process…
Hope this helps
Hello, I have been playing and upgrading my workstations so that it takes less time to do them and even though I have upgraded them and the time in the bubble is correct, they automatically go back to the original time! It’s so frustrating that they should be 10-30 mins quicker and to find out it’s not working. Any ideas on how to fix this?
A lot of people have been having this problem, you could contact EA about it but there are no other ways to fix this.
Hi! So I was wondering if both of my sims reach lvl 10 on their professions , will other new sims be able to pick the profession as well when they start to work there?
No, you can still only have one sim in each specialism
I have one sim n level 6 in police job, so I ‘m collecting now my resources to build a workstation (interrogation room). Should I use my resources to upgrade the basic workstations (i.e.front desk…) or I should ignore these upgrades and save my resources only to build the workstation?
You can do either! If you upgrade you can complete the tasks quicker but if you save them for building you can hopefully build the workstations quicker. If you are saving up for building you may find that your storage becomes full, if you don’t have the coins to upgrade your storage use the resources to upgrade those first 3 workstations.
Correction to my last post (I should wait until I have all the facts), the prizes awarded have nothing to do with the number of shipping slots unlocked (they just help you get points faster). You win prizes as you pass the milestone marker on the bar and they are put into your inventory. I am looking forward to your always well written and fully informative post on the simtown marketplace.
Here is my post on the Simtown Market: https://thegirlwhogames.wordpress.com/2016/10/22/the-sims-freeplay-simtown-market/
I have four sims working at the movie studio: two of them are specialist and the others are regulars. I had the two specialist working their shift but when they finished, they left three clients with their bubbles incomplete (they got the coins but not the resources). The options left are only the specialist’s tasks to perform in the hair and make up department and audition booth, therefore, the non specialist sims can’t perform them. Is there a way I can make those clients to leave?
No you can’t get them to leave but they will leave on their own after a few days or you could use your specialist sim to complete that task.
The video camera skill can be used to help level up in the movie studio career…..Is there a skill item that will help level up in the police career?
No there isn’t
Do you happen to know the point of the BOOM camera? I thought it would build up career or something but I didn’t see any noticeable effects of using it.
No idea! I didn’t bother trying to win it!
Is there a way to get a sim to come back from offsite work? I currently only have 1 at the station and sent the other one off site right from the beginning but now I can’t see a way to get him back?
Yes you do this the same way you cancel most actions in the game, click on them on the simtracker and the action bar will appear- click on the red cross to cancel the action.
I have yet to participate in any further market place events, They take way too many resources away from upgrading so unless your all the way upgraded, its kinda not worth it. I mean unless you really must have the item they are giving away for a prize. So far the BOOM camera is neat looking but not much else, and definitely not worth delaying the upgrade of my last buildings in need of an upgrade.
Same, I didn’t even bother trying to get the boom camera, these events really are only designed for those who have finished building all the workstations.
I’ve been working hard to get the supplies need to get the audition room. I have my supplies but now it’s telling me I need 7 vip points to build the room. What gives? I thought we could play without vip points??
Like it says in the post you can only build/upgrade one workstation at a time unless you are VIP 7. Please read the post next time.
The careers feel just unplayable, meaning it takes sooooooooooooooo much time for so little reward. To help a single sim takes hours for a measly amount of resources more often than not, worthless resources that do not help… unlocking the work stations should be cool, progress and all, but instead it just makes the need to spend LP’s to have any chance. I’ll finish the upgrades eventually but am having no joy out of it and really only going to finish out of stubbornness to “beat” the developers who feel like they are just trolling at this point.
Hi! I have a nurse that has earned all the badges for level 7. I just tried to send them to work (currently only have 1 other sim working in the hospital under the doctor specialization) and that option wasn’t available. I can’t send them or call them anywhere almost like a bug in the game or something. I’ve tried clicking on the briefcase but the only option was to work offline. Do you have any suggestions for me? Thanks! Love the blog!
How strange! Have you tried restarting your device? If that doesn’t work you may need to contact EA to see if they can fix this for you.
Thanks!
Hi there,
I saw the first comment on this post mentioning about the completion time. I’m not sure if mine is the same issue.
I noticed that, in both police and movie studio professions, the customer sims have requests that indicate the completion time to be , let’s say, 4m 10s
. But when my sims work on that request, the timer starts from 5 mins or even a longer timing than what’s indicated.
I’ve been cancelling the action and choosing that request until the timing is correct.
Is anyone else facing the problem? How do you work around it?
Rgds
Kev
A lot of people have been having this issue where the timer isn’t decreasing correctly with an upgrade.
You could let EA know about this issue so they can try and fix it because unless players tell them they aren’t going to know.
My level 8 director is stuck. I need to earn 3 film reels to get my last badge. After a couple of weeks there is still no option to do this. What can i do?
All you can really do is be patient and just keep trying, it took me a month to complete one of these badges once because no one would come in for ages but they did eventually!
Okay, so I have been working on all careers badges. I am stuck at the movie profession because it says collect 5000 coins to receive badge. When I collect coins non are recording on my coins status. What am I doing wrong?
This may be a glitch, does this happen every shift?
Yes every shift. But I believe it was a glitch because now the coins are logging…. Thank you!
I’m glad its working properly again! 🙂
Does upgrading the profession workstations generate higher revenue to be collected on the town map for that profession? like if I upgrade the police station, do I collect more XP and money from tapping on the police station when there is an XP and money icon on the police station?
No, you won’t get anymore xps in building revenue when you upgrade your workstations.
Is there any trick to make these clients that have impossible requests to leave? Like this one guy that wants to be interviewed in the police station won’t go away at all. I can’t help him right now because I first have to build the interview room. I do know that they can leave, because I remember in the movie studio I completed some non-specialized tasks and just left them to wait for the costumes until that was built the next day. When I checked back the next shift, they were gone!
On a side note, are the clients that show up completely random? No way of making more “important” Sims show up?
There are no tricks to this, they will not leave unless they have been waiting a long time or until you help them out.
And yes they do seem to be completely random so you can’t do anything to make important sims show up.
I am absolutely getting fed up with the careers! I got stuck at level 7 on the police station and can’t get. Any higher. I just quit on the movie career didn’t even try after the police station. I started the hospital but didn’t get far. I don’t think I will start the gymn. Is anyone else as discouraged as I am?
The profession careers are really poor, I’m trying to get them finished but I just think they are so boring! But the new gym isn’t a workplace!
I have basically finished all the careers to 10 (all my movie studio and police stuff) So i been focusing all my energy on the last one and its like reach level 9 … levels really slowly … get all 100% done … only 1/5th the way up … like wth? Is this a glitch or did they just put leveling up on super slow motion? I was doing the cooking thing you suggested it was working out great – it used to take a day to level to 6 then suddenly 3 or 4 days just to level to 6.
I wouldn’t know to be honest, I haven’t completed them yet! Everytime I think about it I just find something less boring to do! But it would make sense that they are levelling up slowly for the last level.
It’s very frustrating. The resource storage increase cost is extremely too much. My movie career storage is full and all I can do is try and meet the sims goal of helping just to get the coin bonus to increase resource storage only by 50. So, rediculous. I can’t even get my resources. Very slow process. I also, agree with Sheila and Henry. The sims we can’t help should leave at some point. I have had one there the passed week. Another thing that is frustrating is the games max level is 55. They should increase it with some sort of perk or something. All my sims actions and XP just goes into thin air. Once, you have the careers service time knocked down its more bearable to do careers. Sims customer service hasn’t worked in over a year I still don’t know how to talk to the game creators.
I totally agree with the logic of it going slower – but it didnt feel quite this slow the last 5 ones I leveled to 10. The last of those 5 is when it started taking like forever! And now I am working on the last one to get to ten, Its like this with the cooking leveling up as well – which I have never quite understood their percentage to work equation in reference to how much experience you get per cooking task. Thank you anyways – just curious if it was happening to anyone else.
