THIS EVENT IS NOW OVER!
ONCE THE 14 DAY TIME LIMIT IS UP YOU WILL HAVE 2 DAYS TO BUILD ANY AREAS YOU HAVE LEFT– you will not be able to collect anymore fruit or coins, you have to use the resources you have, if you don’t have enough resources all you can do is use social points to buy the requirements or wait until the event returns!
This is the second time this community event has been available, it is only here for 14 days and the aim of it is to collect enough fruit from special new plants (found in the event tab of buy mode) to unlock the Tropical Romance Island and build all the places on the island.

If you completed it last time you will not get this again as you have already unlocked all the prizes. If you started it last time but didn’t complete it you will start from where you got to, so you will only have to collect enough resources to build the places you have left.
The community part of this event is, the fruit everyone collects (you do not need neighbours this is everyone who plays the games progress) is added together and we unlock new items when we have collected so much
There are a few goals to complete first that show you how this event works:
Plant a banana tree (find the banana tree in the events tab of buy mode and place in one of your sims gardens- first one is free)
Collect some fruit- 12 seconds (click on banana tree)

This will take you to the personal progress tab in the island event progress button that can be found in the corner of the screen:
Here you will see you have unlocked the island ticket!

Buy tropical romance island ticket- go back to the personal progress tab and click purchase on the island ticket
Visit the tropical romance island (click on the boat in simtown and select tropical romance island)

NOTE: you will see two destinations on the boat, if the Magical Rainforest is locked then you will have to wait for them to bring that community event back again before you can go there but you can still access the Tropical Romance Island for this event!
Use the event spin flower (buy the coin flower patch from the event tab and select the spin flower option, the first time is free, after that it will cost you 450 bananas)

Check the community progress (click on the island event button and find the community tab)

Check the daily goals (click on the island event button and find the daily goals tab- claim the ones you can!)
Remember to claim your rewards each day!

Collect bonuses (while collecting after a certain amount of time you will see the fruit appear above that sims head, click to collect bonus fruit!)

Continue collecting fruit- this is the last step but the event is not over, keep collecting fruit to unlock everything on the island!
If you want to speed up a collecting fruit action it will cost you SPs, you will get the bonus fruit as well if you speed it up!

NOTE: remember to click CLAIM once you have completed a daily goal to collect the reward and remember to claim your free constructor coin and free bananas each day!

How do I claim or buy a prize to complete a daily goal?
You need to buy one of the personal progress items that you have unlocked (once you have all the flowers and constructor coins needed for it you can click purchase) or on a community prize you click claim to complete this
TIP: if you have already claimed or brought a prize that day maybe wait until the next just incase you don’t have enough fruit or coins to buy or there isn’t one to claim the next day, this way you will still be able to complete all the goals and earn your bonus constructor coins!
Personal Progress
The personal progress is how far you have got on this event, the more fruit you collect the more places on the tropical island you can unlock and build.

NOTE: the bar at the top of the personal progress tab shows you how close you are to unlocking an item, the more fruit you collect the more the bar will fill up. Once you have unlocked an item on the bar at the top you will be able to use the fruit you have collected and constructor coins to purchase that place on the tropical romance island.
Personal Progress Items and Places to unlock by collecting fruit
Some pictures and information are from the previous time this event was available, I will be updating as I unlock each item
NOTE: when you build a place on the island it will take the fruit required as currency (for example if 4000 bananas are required, they can only be used one so will be removed from your inventory, you will need to earn more bananas to build the next place)

Constructor Coins
You earn constructor coins by:
Personal Progress prizes
Community Progress prizes
Coin Flower Patch
Earning Construtor Coins? Previously on these events I used social points on the Mega Spin Plant to win constructor points. I earn social points by completing the cooking hobby and earning LPs, I can then turn the LPs into SPs using the social point plant on a normal garden patch- this was when it cost 5LPs- the social point plant now costs 20LPs so you may want to try the option below first instead:
Or you can use 450 bananas on the Spin Plant (a good way to use up any spare bananas) which will earn you constructor coins but you will earn less than you earn using the Mega Spin Plant
Once the event is over you will earn simoleons for any resources you have left over:

Hi, Thank you for this post it was very informative.
This is my first time participating in this event and I’m really disappointed with the amount of resources required to unlock places. (I need total 1635 constructor coins!!).I compared with last time’s. I guess this event will join my long list of unfinished events and tasks!
I have honestly given up on these collecting events. Like it is so stressful and the only way to get everything in a single event is by sacrificing your sleep and everything else you do throughout the day. I spent so much time and effort on the Tropical island thing and I was still left with the last item. I did the spa event twice and still never finished. For this one, I’m just gonna’ build what I like and the rest can be whatever.
Hello! I love your blog.
I didn’t earn constructor coins from clearing in the island
Thanks and thanks for letting me know!
Anyone else think they’re overdoing it with the amount of events lately? I feel overwhelmed with all the different stuff I wanna get done in the game 😣
Completely agree with you! We only get a few days break (if we are lucky!) from events nowadays- it does get a bit much!
Just did the maths and it is possible to finish the event if:
– Number of fruits we’ll get for each kind of fruit is at least 10% bigger than the previous.
– We get about 50% of the available bonuses.
– We get an average of 6 coins for each time we use the flower with the remaining bananas.
Plus, considering you won’t be available to play between 7,5 and 8,5 hours per day, the best option (at least for bananas, because I haven’t unlocked the others yet, but I’m hoping it will be the same) is to do 3 times the 3,5 hours option, one time the 5,5 hours and one time the 7,5 hours. It will give you 6880 bananas per day, 680 less than if you’re doing the 3,5 option 6 times.
Question, I am still doing the Ice Sculpting event, if I start this new one will the Ice Sculpting event stop on me?
No, the ice sculpture event will continue.
Hey. I did this event last time but now that its back I cant seem to find the spin plants anywhere.
Did you finish this event last time?
You have to unlock them again by going to the Island. I had the same problem.
Thanks so much for the speedy post on the new event! Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like we get coins for clearing/removing items on the island, and although I’ve gotten to the first goal of the hammock, since there is SO much to clean on the island, it hasn’t unlocked yet. This one is going to be hard, even with community help.
You’re welcome! That is strange as I managed to build the hammock before I have finished cleaning the island
Yes, me too, I haven’t cleared anything on the Island yet and have built both the hammock and coastal dining.
I figured out that I had something else building at the moment. As soon as it cleared, it started building.
New question for those in the know… will we earn simoleans for the resources we have left over at the end of the event? What about the constructor coins left over? I just finished building my last personal goal, but am continuing to collect resources to help the community, and hopefully get the beach wear, candy currently, unbelievably, have 30 constructor coins left over at this point.
I’m guessing we will earn simoleons for left over resources like we did in the previous event
Hey! Really nice blog. I have one question, do we have to clean the beach or is it optional? First time I participate in this event
Thanks! I don’t think you have to clean it up, it doesn’t earn you any constructor coins and you can still build the places without cleaning the island.
I cannot find the coin flower patch in the event items in the home store. The banana tree and the other plants are all there, but not the thing that grows a spin plant. Am I looking in the wrong place?
Have you reached the goal to use the event spin flower yet? You cannot buy it until you do this goal.
Really grateful for your guide! I’ve been playing for less than a week, so feeling slammed with all these timed events.
Pretty sure I won’t be completing the Ice Sculpture Hobby quest or this one and thanks to your guide, I decided to delay the main questing at the Swimming one, so that I can have a number of Sims working on the already unwieldy goals of making enough money to build, and the Baby Music Hobby, AND these two events. Haha
Oh good luck with it all! I’m sure this and the ice sculpture event will be back again so don’t worry too much, I think working on the main quests right now is the best use of your time 🙂
Is anyone else missing the spin plant plot in the event tab? I haven’t seen it any other tabs either.
Have you reached the goal to use the event spin flower yet? You cannot buy it until you do this goal.
This is, annoyingly, the most nerfed event. Why EA remove the option to earn constructor coins by cleaning the island.
Thank you for your blog, it’s really helpful!
I’m getting frustrated with all these events. I only have 12 adult sims and they should be completing both Tropical Romance and Ice Sculpture events. I’ve just completed the Life Dreams & Legacies quest and my sims won’t be able to complete their life dreams with all the events going on!
I personally don’t find the Tropical Romance Island very tempting. It’s cool to have mermaids and hammocks and all, but I’d like to have them as hobbies or something so there would be more profit for completing the event.
I completed the island last year, but I am doing the event again on a second device.
The amount of resources needed this time takes all the fun out of playing.
They do not give any constructor coins for clearing the island and the plant spins are yielding very few (6 spins to get 10 coins)
I think EA are trying to wreck the game completely 🙁
I agree with you. I’ve just realized I let the game take over my life the past week and there’s nothing to show for it-only everything is unlocked and I would still need 3500 constructor coins to complete everything. Where’s the challenge in the community doing anything to finish? It’s impossible. I’d rather have a real life instead of a simulated life.
Hi, longtime lurker here! I can’t stress enough how helpful your blog has been. I’d just like to ask: Is clearing the island of rocks and tree stumps absolutely necessary if I want to unlock the items? Thanks a lot!
Thanks! I don’t think you have to clean it up, it doesn’t earn you any constructor coins and you can still build the places without cleaning the island.
I loved this game. But after you pay so much money it’s like your not getting much help. The coins are not worth it. The game gets boring after a while. Something needs to change. Thank you
I can’t buy the coin flower patch. It’s not an option for me 😦 I’ll never be able to finish this event!! It takes SO much more constructor coins compared to last time.
Have you reached the goal to use the event spin flower yet? You cannot buy it until you do this goal.
Do you have to clear the island during the event or can you do it even after it’s over? I need every sim I got on plants to meet the goals, so I have nobody left to clear for now…
I don’t think you have to clean it up, it doesn’t earn you any constructor coins and you can still build the places without cleaning the island.
EXPLAIN THIS TO ME :
I heard that the tropical romance was there the last year(2016) and was not able to participate it. Since I know that I won’t be able to buy all the places in the island(I am sure because I didn’t got all the places in the magical rainforest 😭😭😭 and the French thing), after the event ends and in the next year when it is back, can I continue my progress? or do I need to start it all over again? Please let me know because I am curious to know😨😨😨😨😨😨😨😨😨
And thank you for this amazing blog. It really helped me a lot!😘😘😘😘😘
You’re welcome!
Yes, you will start from where you got to last time, you won’t have to start from the beginning.
Thank you soooooooooooooooo much, You have always helped me😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘
You’re welcome! 🙂
So if we don’t earn constructor coins from clearing the island do they really expect us to waste that many hours on clearing it? I’m trying to understand the logic here.
Yes that one is lost on me too- unless I’m missing something!
It looks like I’m the first one to comment on this since it’s return. I have an odd problem though. I’m not sure if anyone else has experienced this or not.
So in the past after an even I’ve always meir the coin garden patch in storage until I needed it again. However they ate gone now, I never sold them or paved them on my other properties……they’re just gone BUT my normal garden patch count has gone up. Is as if they turned into regular patches.
Ok, no big deal, whatever….I’ll buy a new one for this event. Nope……it’s not showing up in my event items to buy. So I have nothing in my inventory and nothing in my shop to purchase yet I can’t gain all my daily rewards without it. What the heck……have you or anyone else experienced this?
Yes, they turn into normal garden patches once the event is over.
Have you reached the goal in this event to use the spin flower patch? As you cannot buy it until you reach this goal.
I think they’re designing the events with the intent that it will take you multiple times to complete. I wasn’t able to built the bungalow last time, so that is the only thing I need to do this time around and I think that will be something I can complete, but I doubt someone starting from scratch will be able to get everything.
is it necessary to clean the island???can i not do it (^-^)
I don’t think you have to clean it up, it doesn’t earn you any constructor coins and you can still build the places without cleaning the island.
I’m having trouble getting two sims on the hammock, do they have to be at a certain stage in their relationship/romance to go on together?
They need to be in a romantic relationship to be able to share the hammock.
Hello I’m doing this event for the second time, I already unlocked 4 places last time and I have 4 more. However I can’t find the coin patch anywhere, it’s not in the purple event tab there’s only the 4 fruit plants. Kinda bummed because I need that to make bananas into coins but I swear it’s not there 😦 do you know if It’s a glitch?
Have you got any goals to complete this time around? If you do, you need to get to the goal to use the spin flower and then you will be able to buy one. If not then it may be a glitch, you will probably have to contact EA if it doesn’t show up.
Regarding clearing the island. Does it matter when you do it, or does it have no bearing on order of events?
I don’t think you have to clean it up, it doesn’t earn you any constructor coins and you can still build the places without cleaning the island.
I haven’t done the event previously, so have nothing on my island at the start of this event. It is disappointing to read how the event last time required a lot fewer resources to unlock each thing and there were people then who were saying that they struggled to get enough resources! Seems like it is another impossible quest designed by EA to get you to spend real money like the recent french château event. Oh well, guess I will just have to be happy with the few things I am able to unlock in the time.
Thanks for all the event info, it is super helpful.
Whoops. I rated this page (supposedly 5*) and your stars went down, not up. Sorry about that!
Yes I did as you suggested and checked last year’s requirements as against this year’s. Unbelievable inflation. And that’s without constructor coins for clearing trash.
I’m just going for the mermaids and the bungalow first. There’s no way I can complete everything as a first timer on this event. Very harsh of ea.
if we dont get the CC by clearing the island, then whats the point of clearing? are we not allowed to build the area when the island still unclear?
I have no idea what the point is! I managed to build the hammock before I have finished clearing the island
I’ve built both the hammock and the little eatery for two without having to clear the island so who knows at this point. Tbh I’m going to try to build what I can without clearing until it tells me I can’t.
Same 😓 I just hope I can get everything in time!
I’ve tried to work this out to see if it is possible for me to complete this in one go and, while I think it is doable, it is going to be tough!!
Each day I can do the short action 4 times and the long action once. Based on that it will take me –
5 days and 3 short actions to get 37580 Bananas
9 days and 4 short actions to get 99400 Dragon Fruits
7 days and 1 short action to get 80850 Pinapples
6 days and 2 short actions to get 54200 Passion Fruits
All good so far – as long as I unlock the plants in time!
The problem I foresee is with Construror Coins. In the time remaining I should be able to harvest another 55800 Bananas but that only gives me 124 Spins. I don’t know how many Constructor Coins we get as bonuses, but lets be generous and assume there will be 150. That will still leave 1485 I need to get – from 124 spins thats at least 12 per spin!!!!
Wish me luck!
I don’t even want to try and work out how long it will take me! haha
Good Luck! 🙂
is the Sim Town Health Spa Community Event will be back? The first time I do it is I’m just beginning to play this sims freeplay. I hope it will be back so I can collect the spa collectibles. Nice blog anyway it guide me through quests 🙂
It will probably be back again one day! Thanks 🙂
Feels like the community progress bar is moving so slowly…. is that because everyone’s struggling to make progress in this? I know I am
It usually starts off slow but it should get faster as we all progress.
I completed this event the last time it was available, but wanted to still collect fruit so i could help with the community progress. It is not showing up on my game at all, so does that mean that only the people who are new to the game, or haven’t previously completed the event are able to help with the community progress? If that is the case it seems like it will be very difficult for the community part of this event to progress very fast, since it doesn’t show up on some games at all, less people are able to help. It seems like EA really does want to make these events nearly impossible to complete.
Yes unfortunately you are unable help out and collect fruit if you have already completed this event. The amount of resources needed this time compared to last is also so much higher!
OH NO THAT SUCKS! That makes it so hard on like… every succeeding generation if EA takes away the ability for people who’ve already finished the event to help! Thanks so much for mentioning this actually. I really rather prefer to have to furniture than the stuff on the island so if the community can’t clear all the furniture this time, maybe I’ll purposely leave a section unbuilt so I can try next time.
So my spin plant is mia/locked… has anyone else had this?
Have you reached the goal in this to use the spin plant yet as you won’t be able to buy one from the event tab until you reach this goal.
Hi, in last year’s post regarding this event you said,
“I don’t have neighbours anymore so I have to use the social point flower on the normal garden patch for 5LPs to make social points which I would rather use to speed up fruit collecting!”
I’m in need of SP’s so I’m curious as to what you’re referring to when it comes specifically to neighbors and SP’s. I looked for that specific info throughout your website but couldn’t find it. I’ve never used the “party boat” feature as I’m anti-social when it comes to games! Thankfully I don’t need it to progress in the game! Is there a post I missed about these elusive SP’s that you might so kindly redirect me to? I would love to actually complete one of these events for once! Thanks!
You earn social points when you complete social tasks at neighbours houses, they don’t always earn you social points though, sometimes you only earn XPs
I don’t have a post yet about social points as I am still making a list of social tasks and its not quite ready yet unfortunately!
Unless you have neighbors who have everything, they’re hard to get IMO.
Your current social task should show up in your active tasks. Mine for example is currently “Have a fancy coffee at a neighbor’s snow park”, but I don’t have neighbors who play the game (so their towns are very basic with not much built – and I play on my Kindle so I can only add people via Facebook) and Another Sim Town is often useless. You can spent 10 LPs to complete it, but it only gives you 1 SP.
Well guys, just think, what is the purpose of this game? To make money (obviously) so, what the sims FreePlay do is pressure the players and make them buy some silly SP or LP (not silly, they are valuable, but not for money) because these events are really impossible. What I did was I targeted my favourite place on the island : the bungalow (obviously) then I started collect fruits for that. I didn’t buy any other places. Guess what? I was able to buy the bungalow. Then there were lots of remaining fruits. So, I brought some of the place. I am perfectly happy. Because I got the bungalow.
Thanks for the blog, weightlessmagic / the girl who games.
Is anyone having trouble building some of the venues on the island? I have enough coins and fruit but the game does not allow me to build them and keeps asking me for extra social points to do so? Is there something I’ve overlooked?
If it is asking you for social points then you can’t have enough resources to build the place, keep collecting and then you won’t have to use social points.
I was able to complete the event this time round. Does anyone know if the extra fruits count? Last big event like this you got sim dollars for all extras. Does anyone know if this is the case with the island challenge?
This will probably happen in this event too once it is over.
How do you get the sims to marry on the island
You just get them married like normal: https://thegirlwhogames.blog/2014/07/19/the-sims-freeplay-getting-married/
How does the wedding venue work? The crowd are there for 30 mins the preacher for 5 mins? I cannot make a couple get married no matter what I do!!
You just get them married like normal: https://thegirlwhogames.blog/2014/07/19/the-sims-freeplay-getting-married/
So if they’re already married they can’t again?!
No they can’t.
Actually, there are some pretty cool new aspects to the wedding venue. One sim can perform the ceremony, two get married (and one walks down the aisle) and up to 7 can watch the ceremony. There are a couple tables at the venue that look like they have a purpose….but they don’t respond to taps. Have a couple screen shots I could send if that helps.
Oh okay, they still get married the same as normal though, don’t they? I haven’t managed to build it yet! Far too many resources needed- not enough time!
Where can I find the Relaxed Seats set from the community progress prize ?? It’s not in the inventory
The beanbags are in the preteen section of buy mode and the sun chairs and coffee tables are in the outdoor furniture section of buy mode, not your inventory.
Thanks so much for your blog! I just started playing this game about 3 days ago and it’s been so helpful. So I only have this event for about a week. I already know I won’t finish it all, with not enough Sims to pick fruit. I’ve looked at a few different posts, but I can’t find the answer to my question: Can I skip building a location on the island to save the fruit? Like can I skip the volleyball build so I can get to the Suncoast bar faster? Or are you required to build each of them in turn? Thank you!
You’re welcome!
Yes you can just build the places you really want, you don’t have to build them in order.
I had the spin plant and was using it but now it has disappeared from my lot!
It can sometimes turn into a normal garden patch, just buy a new one from the event tab.
Does the event return every year?
Well this is only the second year it has returned so who knows if it will be back again next year!
I’m currently busy with the romance event and I don’t have any passion fruit plant. How do you collect passion fruit? There is only bananas, dragon fruit and pineapples. 😕 Please help?
You need to unlock the passion fruit vine in the personal progress prizes and then you will be able to buy them.
I’ve been working round the clock using over half my sims and used up ALL SP buying extra plants. With a few days to go I’ve only managed to unlock 2 locations. I decided it was a pointless obvious [real] money grabbing “event”, there’s no way anyone could complete this without paying around $99.00 – $199.00. [someone calculated and posted it on the net]..
I decided to skip the volleyball section because it’s not something I want and moved to the next..
I used up 12,000+ bananas on spin plants to reach target constructor coins needed, bit it did not unlock the next location..
do you have to build each location in the order it says?
Because that would’ve been handy to know BEFORE I exhausted all my resources to try and finish the next one after volleyball..
Now I’m just screwed and there’s no point in continuing. 😡
You don’t have to build them in order.
I finished this event this morning on my iPad by changing up my collecting strategy. I started out collecting every 3 hours when awake and every 8 when I went to bed. I realized this wasn’t leaving me enough bananas to collect CC and spin for the daily goals. I switched to the 8 hour option exclusively and was able to keep enough bananas and other fruits to complete the goals and get my personal goals done faster. I did this during the French Live Event and had 8 days left on 2 different devices. I will continue to do this for future events.
I don’t really understand how doing a longer option more than the shorter has earned you more bananas?
Would I still have to buy a wedding ring for my sims if I build the wedding coast venue?
Yes, you get them married the same way as you normally do.
That’s supposed to say the bonuses were larger every hour using the 8 hour option. I was getting 30 to 40 bonus fruit rather than 10 every hour.
Hello,
I probably won’t have enough CCs to get every prize. Which ones would you say we’re worth building?
Last time I said what ones I preferred and I had people have a go at me so I am not giving my opinion this time around! In the post it says what you can do at each place so have a look to see which ones you think would be worth it as my opinion could be very different to yours.
My personal favorites are the wedding coast venue & bungalow (even tho I haven’t built it yet).
