What is the maximum amount of sims you can have in one house?
4 is the maximum for living in a house at one time but you can invite other sims over and have 10 in a house or public place at once
How Many Sims Can I Have In My Town?
How do I get a sim to sleep through an alarm?
Click on bed, choose the option
How do I call a sim?

How do I invite a sim over?
Make sure they aren’t busy, go to the house you want them and click the whistle next to their picture
How do I use a computer?
Click on a computer in the game and choose the option you need.
I can’t add a new sim, why?
You may have reached the sim limit, you need to wait until you level up to unlock a new sim but you don’t always unlock a new sim each level.
Why can’t I add another baby?
A couple can only have 2 children as only 4 sims can live in a house at one time
A material just appeared above my sims head! What is this for?
These materials, for example granite as shown in the image below are used to upgrade the monuments on the island that you unlock during the Raiders of the Lost Artifacts Quest:
Why do blue footprints appear when I try to use an item?
Blue footprints appear when your sim cannot access an item you want them to use, you need to either rotate the item or move an item that has been placed in front of it so they can use it
Do I need a birthday cake to age a sim?
Yes you need a birthday cake to age your sim to each life stage until you complete the Life Dreams and Legacies quest where your sims age automatically
If I bake a cake early will it be there when I need it?
Yes, it will be stored until you are ready to age your sim
Can I change my sims name/ gender etc?
How do I get two sims married?
Can I make my sims friends after they become nemesis?
Yes, just be nice until they become friends again
How do I save my game?
If you log into Game Center or Facebook in the game you can save it to one or both of those to save your game to the cloud. The game will save automatically each time you collect your daily reward but you can save it manually from the settings

They need to clean the pool first and then they should do the action.

Help! I put my preteen bed in my inventory but cannot find it! Why?
If you haven’t completed the preparing for preteens quest yet you will not be able to see the preteen tab where the bed will be, once you complete the quest the bed should reappear

How much do houses, businesses or workplaces cost to build?
The price varies depending on how many other houses, business or workplaces you have already built, each time you build another one the price will increase but it will only increase for similar buildings, for example, if you build a house the price will only increase for the next house you build, it will not increase for businesses or workplaces too

How much do workplaces cost to build?
The price varies depending on how many other workplaces you have already built, each time you build another one the price will increase but it will only increase for similar buildings, for example, if you build a workplace the price will only increase for the next workplace you build, it will not increase for businesses or houses too
What is the difference between a career and a profession?
With professions you can go to work with your sims and help them out during their shift, with careers they will just go to work for a set amount of time and return when they have finished

They can’t see it because they aren’t seeing the most up to date version of your game, you need to connect to the cloud for them to see this version of your game
I can only visit Another Simtown, what items are available there?
If I skip a social task with LP will I still get the reward?
Yes you will
What items are needed to create a great social house?

Main Quests
I have missed a main quest! Why can’t I start it yet?
You cannot miss main quests they have to be completed in order. You need to complete all previous quests (the order can be found here)
Can I complete a main quest even though I am passed the level it unlocks at?
Yes, it will start automatically once previous quests have been completed
What happens if I don’t complete in the time limit, can I still finish a main quest?
Yes you have to finish it before you can move onto the next quest
I didn’t complete in the time limit, can I restart the quest?
No, you cannot redo quests
Can I still get the prize if I don’t complete in the time limit?
No, the only way to get the limited time prizes is by completing the quest in the time limit
I don’t like a quest I am on! Can I just skip it?
No, you have to complete the quest before you can move onto the next one
Why are there two versions of some quests?
Some quests have two versions, as when the makers have updated the times for quests they haven’t updated them on all devices so some players still get the old times
What do you mean when you say a goal can be started early?
Any goal that you can normally do can be started early because you will have access to it and any goal that you can’t normally do you will have to wait until you get the goal to be able to complete it
The tip with this method is to put the sim doing that action early in a different house that you cannot go to until you get that goal or it will not work
Some times are slightly different on my game, why is this?
Times may vary depending on the star rating of the item you are using, as the higher star rating an item has the quicker you will complete a goal
Some times are really off/ different goals show for me, why is this?
This will be because the quest has been updated recently, I try my best to keep these posts up to date but it is difficult as I cannot redo every quest each time the game is updated. If you notice any changes please let me know so I can update the post

I don’t get the option to watch SimChef on TV, why?
You will not get the option until you get the goal when the quest starts
Why can’t I buy a toaster?
You need to place a toaster on a counter or table, it won’t let you buy it if you try to put it on the floor
I can’t make cheese on toast, why?
You need to have a stove and a toaster in your house to be able to make cheese on toast
How do I invite a sim over?
Click on the whistle next to a sim who isn’t busy on the simtracker, this post explains more about the simtracker
I can’t cook burgers why?
You need one sim to cook until they reach level 2 in cooking to unlock the burgers, if you use the same sim to cook for each cooking goal in this quest they will reach level 2 by the time you need to cook the burgers
Where can I find the chopping boards?
You need to complete the cooking hobby for the first time to unlock the chopping boards, they can then be found in the kitchen section of buy mode
Love is in the Air Quest
How do I get two sims in a house?
Click on the whistle next to a sim who isn’t busy on the simtracker
Why can’t my sim kiss another sim on the cheek?
You have probably been romantic too many times, you need to be dating to get this interaction, if they are already partners you won’t be able to do this task. To get around this you need a sim to be romantic to a different sim until they are dating so you can complete this goal
How do I send a sim home?
Click on the house with the arrow in it button next to a sim who isn’t busy on the simtracker
I can’t be romantic, why?
You cannot be romantic until you get the goal in this quest to be romantic
Two and a Half Sims Quest
I can’t place the magazines in my house, why?
You need to put them on a table or counter, you cannot place them on the floor
My sims won’t read the magazine, help!

Raiders of the Lost Artifacts Quest
How do I visit the island?
Click on the mysterious island bridge, this will take you to the island
I cannot find the third artifact, where do you find them?
You get them by random, by baking, gardening and using objects, I cannot tell you where to find them as any action can give you one. Try planting peppers or any other action that takes seconds to try and get it quickly
How long does it take to upgrade the riches of terra?
Go to the island and click on it and select upgrade and it will complete straightaway
Why haven’t you posted about monuments yet?

You can find it in your inventory under career and hobby items
I can’t afford the stables, how can I earn more simoleons?

No exclamation marks appear above items to clean up, what should I do?
Just click on items when a sim is there and it will come up with options on the things that need clearing
Can I have more than 4 sims cleaning the mess up at the stables?
Yes, you can have up to 10 sims at a place so 8 sims can clear the 8 items at the same time
How do I practice brushing another sim?
Select the interaction between two sims
My game says there is something under construction when I try to repair a stable, what do I do?
Firstly you need to read the pop up as it tells you exactly what is under construction, once you have go there and click on it to finish building, then you will be able to repair the stable (it will be something you have built previously but probably just haven’t clicked to finish building yet!)

Yes you can, build the costume and swim store then you will find them in your wardrobe
Hidden Unicorn Quest
Which is the unicorn jumping gate?
This is the arena at the stables that is not next to the other two gates
How do I bake rocky road?
Click on a stove and select baking and find rocky road
Does it matter if the rocky road burns?
No it will still complete the goal
My game says there is something under construction when I try to repair the gate, what do I do?

What is the magic castle?
The playhouse that is to the left at the swim center
How do I feed my toddler a snack?
You need an adult sim to select the interaction on a toddler
Does the cat stay at the swim center once the quest is complete?
No, it will disappear
Where are the dancing trees?
At the swim center
Does the adult need to clean up all the pee puddles?

Preparing for Preteens Quest
I can’t afford simtown elementary, how can I earn more simoleons?

I can’t afford the restaurant, how can I earn more simoleons?

How do I serve the food?
Click on the plates and select the option
I cannot find Wumples/Santa/Grouch! What should I do?
Firstly restart your device then try looking around all your houses in simtown for them, they have got to be somewhere!
Pizza is locked, how do I cook it?
Your sim needs to be level 2 at cooking and have a microwave at that house
I cannot make the quiche, it is greyed out, why?
Your sim needs to be level 4 at cooking and have a 2 star fridge and stove
How do I give the mud pie to the Grouch? It disappeared!
You don’t see the mud pie, just click on the Grouch and select the option to give mudpie
My game says there is something under construction when I try to open the front door, what do I do?
Firstly you need to read the pop up as it tells you exactly what is under construction, once you have go there and click on it to finish building, then you will be able to open the front door to the restaurant (it will be something you have built previously but probably just haven’t clicked to finish building yet!)
An Alien Concept: Weather Machines Quest
How do I send my sim to the park?
Go to the park and click on the whistle next to a sim who isn’t busy on the simtracker
How do I become friends with the alien?
Be nice to Osiris until your sim becomes friends with him, do this again to become best friends when you get that goal
I have spent S16,000 on items but the goal will not complete, why?
Make sure you are just buying items from the electronics section of buy mode
How do I negotiate with a sim eating plant?
You need to grow lettuce until it turns into a sim eating plant then when it has you will be able to negotiate with it
How do I get my sims to woohoo?
You need two sims who are partners to be able to get this interaction
I already have a world globe, do I have to buy another one?
Yes you do or you cannot complete this quest
I don’t have a stereo, where can I find one?
You can buy one from the electronics section
Multi Story Renovations Quest
I can’t afford the community center, how can I earn more simoleons?

No, you cannot build the community center until you get the goal in this quest
The game says I have to complete the multi story renovations quest to be able to build the community center, what is the problem?
There is no problem, you have to start the multi story quest and the first goal is to build the community center so you cannot build it until you get that first goal in the quest
How do I send my sim to the community center?
Go to the community center and click on the whistle next to a sim who isn’t busy on the simtracker
I don’t understand what you mean when you say you can do both call the home store/ hotline goals at once to save time?
This goal appears twice so it is like being able to start a goal early that you have access to (read the question below if you don’t understand this) to do this you need two sims and two different houses:
1- When you get the goal to call home store you can set sim 1 to do the task
2- In a different house which you need to stay away from until you get the second goal you can have sim 2 also do the task
3- When sim 1 is done you complete the goal the first time
4- Wait until you get the goal again to call home store and you can go to sim 2 to complete it straight away!
Does it matter if the banana bread burns? Will the goal still complete?
The goal will still complete even if it causes a fire
I crafted the 1st set of woodworking items before I got the task to, my game now won’t complete the goal, what should I do?
You will need to find the next 3 items in the second row to complete this goal
I completed the quest but I cannot place stairs, why?
Firstly make sure you have rooms upstairs and also give this post a read, it explains how to add stairs to a house

You need to use the blackboard at the community center

Help, all items are greyed out apart from the magazines! What should I do?
Buy the magazines again, this should allow you to access the rest of buy mode
Do I need a teen for this quest?
Yes, in this quest you complete the teen idol hobby for the first time so a teen is required to complete all the goals
Can I have more than one teen doing this at once?
No, only one teen can be the teen idol and complete this hobby at one time
I have done the task write 3 pieces of music but it will not complete, why?
You need to write 3 different pieces, you cannot just do the task 3 times
Why can’t I buy the microphone yet?
You need to find all 3 pieces of music on the keyboard, then all 3 on the bass guitar, then all 3 on the drum kit, then all 3 on the guitar and then you will be able to buy the microphone
I cannot find one of the pieces, what should I do?
Some take longer to get than others to find so just keep going, you will find them eventually!
Adulthood Quest
How do I send my sim to the park?
Go to the park and click on the whistle next to a sim who isn’t busy on the simtracker
Do I need to use a teen for these tasks?
No, all can be done with an adult
How do I call a sim to the swim center?

Do I need the snow park to complete this quest?
Yes you do, you cannot complete the goal to visit the snow park without it
You cannot do this at a neighbours town, quest goals can only be completed in your town
How do I send my sim to the swim center?

I don’t have the option to feed or investigate the pigeons, why?
Make sure you using an adult sim
How do I search garbage for a cupcake?
Kick over the trash can first then you will get the option

What are discovery quests?

Why can’t I do a discovery quest yet?
You cannot do more than one discovery quest at the same time, if you are currently on another discovery quest you will not be able to do another one until that is completed
Can I do discovery quests at the same time as a main quest?
Yes you can
Do I have to do a discovery quest?
If you don’t start the quest you don’t have to do it at all but if you have already started it you need to complete it before you can move on to the next quest
I haven’t started a discovery quest yet, will it still be available when I want to do it?
Yes it will be, you can choose to start it whenever you like
What happens if I don’t complete in the time limit, can I still finish a quest?
Yes you have to finish it before you can move onto the next discovery quest

How do I start this discovery quest?
Build the sorcerous supplies store to start this quest
Does the time limit start when I click to build or once the building has complete?
Once it has finished building the quest and time limit will begin
Why can’t I do this discovery quest yet?
You cannot do more than one discovery quest at the same time, if you are currently on another one you will not be able to do this one until that one is completed
Is it possible to complete this quest in the time limit?
Yes it is
How do I unlock the door to the wand room?
Select randomly rearrange
How do I place the magic wand podium, I can’t find it!
It will be in the hobby and career items section of your inventory
Everytime my sim gazes into the crystal ball it says ‘this place is too crowded’ why?
If you already have a sim at the wizards cottage you will get this message, use the simtracker to go to the sim who is already there instead of using the crystal ball
Can I do all the distract a mummy tasks at the same time?
No you can’t, you can only do them one at a time
How do I pack up the magic wand podium?
Click on it to pack up
The magic wand podium has disappeared once I’ve picked it up! How do I complete the hobby?

Do you mean player ID? It definitely is still 3 hours 10 minutes on my game with the latest update, it used to be 6 hours 30 minutes before they updated it 🙂
You could still bake birthday cakes for 5LPs or just wait for them to age automatically for free. It costs simoleons to add a new baby once you start this quest.

I don’t have a questions but wanted to comment about the Mysterious Island Monuments. It is not worth it trying to upgrade them, i had been doing the cooking hobby and gotten tons of LP, so i decided to splurge and upgrade the monuments to see what happens. All you get is money every 24 hours, nothing exciting. The Goddess one i think would be worth more, you get a steady stream of LP from that, at least that is what it says. I thought there would be some sort of explosion and maybe get some LP or something special, but nope.

Is it better to have your Sim’s hobbies spread out or have one hobby that the majority of your Sims have? I have certain groups of Sims with hobbies but not one hobby that a lot of my Sims have at one time(excluding the times that the hobby events come to Sim town)
It is up to you really, I would suggest you complete all hobbies at least once so you are ready when a hobby event comes out but you don’t have to leave them on that hobby once they have reached level 6 in it. I personally have most sims completing the cooking hobby and move them to different hobbies when I need to.

The spa event was available back in may so if you didn’t update in may you wouldn’t have had access to it. If you did update in may and still didn’t get it it was probably because you weren’t on a high enough level yet. There is no way to do it currently but it may come back one day.

It takes up time if you go to work with your sims each day while they help the sims there and you can collect resources that way but if you just send them to work (you can just like a normal job) it doesn’t take up much time but you will not be able to upgrade workstations without the resources.
Nope, none of my houses are ever picked!
I personally don’t really like any of the Architect houses, every so often there is a nice one, but most of them aren’t great! I like building my own but if you don’t then just keep checking the Architect houses as they change a lot.

The town value increases whenever you buy any item so yes it includes wallpaper, floors and furniture. The more expensive the item is the more your town value will increase by.
Do you mean the money on buildings? This is based on how expensive the place was to build, the first house you only get S5 but you get that every minute because that was already built when you started, your 14th house for example will have cost a lot more so you will earn more money from that but the time between collections will increase.

Hi. Im at vip 7 and one of the perks was that I would be able to build more than one building at once. But whenever I try to build a second building it tells me I already have something building and that I have to wait. Do you know why that might be?

What can I do if my sim got stuck at the police office? I tried to submit a request on fire monkey website but keep failing..it says that my response is incorrect I checked the player ID it should be correct…
These are the only fixes I have heard for this issue:
-Try restarting your device
-Cancel their shift
-Use LPs to finish the task
-Wait for them to finish their shift
If none of these work for you then sorry but there is nothing else I can do, you will have to contact EA to see if they can fix this for you- is it definitely your Player ID that is incorrect or another piece of information? You could try again but they are aware of this problem so it should be fixed in the next update anyway.
I can’t post this comment on the related post as you disabled comments there, but if I made a married sim move in with a different sim would he still be married to the sim he is married to (I want the man to move in with someone else but I want to know if the game automatically says the married couple aren’t a couple even though they still are, they’re just living with different people)

Do you mean you want your married couple to live in separate houses? You wouldn’t be able to do that because they have to live together but you would be able to move the couple in with another sim and they will still be married.

Hi. I love all your posts & enjoy reading them when I have any doubts. I wonder if you can help me with an issue I have with the new police quest. I currently have two sims working in the police station but somehow one of them has been stuck in the station for a couple of days now. He is just there waving all the time. I’ve tried to reset the game twice but I can’t seem to end his shift. It tells me that he hasn’t completed his task & to wait till he’s done but no such luck (he’s stuck in the surveillance car). My other sim cannot advance any further either. (currently on level 3). I wonder if this has happened to anyone else ? Thanks in advance for your assistance.
This is a glitch that is happening to a lot of people. These are the only fixes I have heard for this issue:
-Try restarting your device
-Cancel their shift
-Use LPs to finish the task
-Wait for them to finish their shift
If none of these work for you then sorry but there is nothing else I can do, you will have to contact EA to see if they can fix this for you. They are aware of this problem so it should be fixed in the next update anyway.

Lemme start by saying that your blog is unbelievably amazing/helpful and I’m so grateful for all of the help that you post. I just bought the Costume and Swim store in my game. When I click on the store tab, the option to buy hair, tattoos and makeup isn’t there. The only options they give me are swimsuits and outfits. I was under the impression that makeup and tattoos could be bought from costume and swim store. What’s going on? Do I have to be on a certain level in order to unlock it?

You will need to build the salon to be able to see the tattoo, hair and makeup sections in the store.
Thank you for this website. I found in the FAQ that there is a limit to how many sims you can have based on your level. Do you have some kind of list that shows what those limits per level are, or some kind of mathematical equation to work it out?

Hello again! So I have another question for you. And if you already answered this on another page that I didn’t see I apologize. My sim completed his life goal and just turned into a senior. Does his life orb not upgrade from bronze to gold? Does it not upgrade until he passes away? I figured I would get something for having completed it before he went on to his next stage in life. I’m also worried maybe it’s because I didn’t pick his next life goal immediately and chose to pick it later. Would that affect it? Or is this normal it’s still bronze? Sorry this is a dumb question and I thank you for your feedback. You have all the answers haha ☺️
Your sim received one life orb and they will only get that when they die as a senior if they complete all the life dreams at each stage of their life. So it is normal not to get one when your adult becomes a senior, if you continue completing his final life dream he will get the silver orb when he passed on.

I thought they upgraded between stages maybe (not only when they died) just because two of my sims have passed at 100% of their life goal meter and their life orbs did not upgrade at all :(. Sorry to make you rewrite the same answers you always do. I promise I try to read as much of your posts as possible before resorting to asking you myself lol. I guess I have a glitch 😞
What life orb did they start with?
If you started with no life orb then they would have bronzes when they die
If they had bronze they would upgrade to silver
If they had silver they would upgrade to gold
If they have gold they would upgrade to platinum
Hey I have a question about earning lp/sp through watching videos. Recently I noticed that it’s only giving me simoleons and xp and no longer has lp/sp. I also noticed while visiting other sims towns I do not earn sp, only xp. Am I the only one facing this or is it a general thing?
Everyone is in the same boat with that one, the makers have made the lps and sps harder to earn so you will still get them but not as much as you used to.

Hey! So for whatever reason my preteens won’t live with their parents. One of them is adopted, and when his parents moved he didn’t go with them (he was a preteen when they moved.) My other preteen’s parents are divorced and her mother is gone and her father lives with his new partner and she didn’t move with the father. Both preteens live in the houses their parents did prior to their move(s). They both have best friend relationships with their parents (developed AFTER their refusal to move with them) and I’ve tried to create “good friends” relationships between them and other adult sims to adopt them, but because their parents are still alive they can’t be adopted. I’m very confused. Help if you can. Thank you
Once that preteen becomes a teen they will get the ask to move in option, until then they will have to live in the house on their own.

I have completed two quests and have not received my rewards. (Infant bouncer and hot tub) I refuse to complete anymore quests in the allotted time until I can figure out why I am not receiving my free rewards. I contacted through fire monkey but haven’t heard anything yet. I’ve been using your blog which by the way basically covers everything and has been soooooo beyond helpful in all areas but I haven’t seen anyone else with this issue. Any ideas?

Do you know how to unlock that tent in the carnival that says “too dark to see inside”? I completed everything else in the carnival and it’s driving me mad.

First, I’d like to say thanks so much for all the effort and care you’ve obviously put into this blog! It’s helped me out quite a lot since I found it and helped me realize I made a lot of silly mistakes when I began playing a couple weeks ago. I actually decided to restart my game because of that. (I shot myself in the foot on the Mysterious Island quest by building extraneous stores and couldn’t afford to finish it in time for the prize.)
That’s actually related to my question. After I restarted, I decided not to complete the Breadwinner tutorial as a way to “pause” the game in order to use the cooking hobby as a way to earn Simoleons and LPs until I had enough to feel comfortable advancing, but I want to add more sims to make it go faster and the only way for me to do that is to have houses for them since they can’t marry or move in with each other yet.
Long story short, my question is: Does building houses increase the cost of building businesses/workplaces, or can I buy as many plots of land as I want without having to worry about needing hundreds of thousands to build them when their quests come up?

That definitely is a good idea, it is much easier to complete the quests in the time limit when you already have a lot of money to keep you going.
Building houses only increases the cost of building another house, building businesses only increases the cost of building another business and building workplaces only increases the cost of another workplace so you can build as many houses as you want without increases other building prices.

What life dream are they doing? And what object are you using?
The choclatier hobby is a good way to earn lps I’m on 117Lps and I get a lot of my lps from that but I also use the cooking hobby

Every time I visit a neigbour’s town, my town value increases by about 500,000 and I get LPs. Is this normal? Is this a glitch? And if so, is it disadvantageous in any way? Would an increase in town value cause an increase in the prices of items, houses, etc?
This is a glitch, it shouldn’t affect your game in anyway so don’t worry!

I bought a fireplace using my lps , and I can’t find the fire place anywhere I need it to complete my task , and all my lps went , so what do I do ?
What fireplace did you buy and where did you buy it from? If you brought it from the home store it will be in the house you placed it in.
I recently got a new iPhone. Basically the same as my old one just with more memory. I backed up my old phone and then uploaded it to my new phone. Everything is the same as my old phone except sims free play. Instead of uploading the game as it currently is it uploaded an old version of it. I’m missing a ton of progress and limited time items. What can I do? I still have the old phone with the current version of the game on it
You will need to upload your saved data on your old device and then you can download the latest version of your game on your new device.
If my sim has reached level 5 of a job and then quits that job and returns back to it, will they return back to the level they were in (level 5) or will they start back at the lowest level?

The only way to move a sim out is by clicking on an empty house and selecting relocate exisiting sim

I’ve been stuck on the Royal lineage quest for a while as whenever I go to ask the fairy to open the bridg, footprints appear above my head and the action discontinues, do you know anyway to get around it?

I built the Beachside Escape house and I want to move my family into it. I clicked relocate household and it gives me the option to move in the other family that I don’t want there (which is two adults) and the family I do want is blacked out so I cant. The family is two adults, a baby, a dog and a cat, does this make a difference? By the way absolutely love your blog it’s so helpful!

You need to get another sim to visit the house you want them to live in and click on the sim who lives there and get them to be nice to each other until they are good friends, then you will get the option to ask to move in. You can then have 4 sims living in each house but you will not get the option to ask to move in until you have completed the love is in the air quest.
