This post will help you to decide when you need to build certain buildings to complete a quest or event in The Sims Freeplay.
* means that you can build the building early to save you time when you come to that quest
^ means a discovery quest will begin when you build that building
~ means that building is needed to partake in an event
For example, you can only build the bridge to the mysterious island when you get the goal to build the bridge in the Mysterious Island Quest but in the Seniors Quest you need to go to the snow park so it is helpful to build that early so you can go straight there to complete the goal in that quest without wasting any time.
I would recommend trying to build those buildings that are requires for main quests first as these start as soon as you reach the correct level so you could have many to complete in a row, then you can build the places to start discovery quests while places such as the supermarket should be low on your list.

- Children’s Store: Two and a Half Sims Quest (cannot build early)
- Real Estate Agency: Ocean View Estate Quest (cannot build early)
- Bridge to Mysterious Island: The Mysterious Island Quest (cannot build early)
- Promotions R Us*: Need for Steed Quest (build early)
- Stables: Need for Steed Quest (cannot build early)
- Swim Center: All Going Swimmingly Quest (cannot build early)
- Showjumping Gate at Stables: Hidden Unicorn Quest (cannot build early)
- Simtown Elementary: Preparing for Preteens Quest (cannot build early)
- Restaurant: Sous Judgemental Quest (cannot build early)
- Community Center: Multi Story Renovations Quest (cannot build early)
- Town Hall*: Higher Education Quest (build early)
- Snow Park*: Seniors Quest (build early)
- Bingo Hall: Seniors Quest (cannot build early)
- Car Dealership*: In Stitches Quest (build early or build a house with a car instead)
- Pet Store: build before you start A Puppy Odyssey Quest and DIY HOMES: Basement of Kings Quest as you won’t be able to complete these quests without it
- Private Island^: starts the Love and Treasure Quest
- Maternity Store^: starts the A Bump-y Ride Quest
- Sorcerous Supplies^: starts the Book Of Spells Quest
- Health Hub^~: starts the The Grooving Guru Quest (health hub is needed to partake in the time limited Groovers ‘N’ Movers and Street Smarts Events)
- Campground^~: starts the Vacationers Guide to the Outdoors Quest (campgrounds are needed to partake in the time limited Outdoor Event)
- Sunset Mall^~: starts the The Sunset Mall Quest (mall is needed to partake in the time limited Sleepwear Event)
- Castle^: starts the Royal Lineage Quest
- Simtown Express^: starts the Simtown Express Quest to unlock downtown
- Downtown: you need to have completed the Simtown Express Quest to unlock downtown to be able to complete the Sims and the City Quest and Teacher’s Pet Quest

It will not let me build the pet shop yet, I am lvl 14 so I already am at the above level, but I’m finishing the need for steed quest and to build the pet store it says I need to have the toddler quest done…
As is explained in this post you can’t build the pet shop until you do the toddler quest and get the goal to build it
I have done all of the tasks up to the let shop, but it does not give me the option to build the pet shop even though I am on level 14. Do you know what I need to do to have my baby become a Toddler?
Are you on the goal to build the pet shop? You won’t be able to until you get the goal
How does the supermarket work?
You can buy seeds and recipes cheaper from the supermarket than you can through the garden plot and oven 🙂
I’m on level 8 and unlocked the two and a half sims quest and have completed 70% so now I have to build the children store but whenever I’m clicking the built button nothing is happening plz suggest what I have to do even I have 5 sims and loads of money and lps plz help

Are the grocery store and car dealership worth building early or should I wait till I finish all my other quests? I’m on the preteen quest now and I do have a couple mansions. Based on your other posts it sounds like I should save up my money, but it also sounds like the grocery store will save me money as well.
If you can’t afford them, don’t build them yet, it would be cheaper to spend the extra few simoleons on the full priced plants than buying the supermarket if you can’t afford it.

So do you suggest to buy one story mansion instead of car dealer ship? If I don't have the car dealer ship, the quest like "have 3 sims driving" won't appear, right?
It depends what is cheaper, I would build the cheapest.
You need to have a car to do this goal so you don’t need the car dealership, if you build the mansion you will get a car to do this task
I’m level 21 and it won’t let me build the bridge, and it says to build it but I click on it an nothing happens?? Any suggestions???

I am currently almost done with the in stitches quest and so far I have built up to Bingo Hall. I haven’t built anything that would start a discovery quest yet. I was skimming the life dreams and legacies quest and saw that the last task is to have a baby. I still haven’t built the maternity store so I haven’t done the bumpy ride quest yet. I am currently doing another discovery quest so it’ll be some times until I can have a baby. Even then, I’ll have to wait 2 days to build the store and then 9 more days to do the quest. I really don’t want to miss the time limit prize for life dream and legacies so is there any other way to “have a baby” without spending real money? Please help me. I am in a real conundrum.
You don’t need to build the maternity store to have babies, that just unlocks the pregnancy events. You can just click on a crib and have a baby which takes a day.
