Restaurant Story- Beginners Guide

If you have just started playing restaurant story then this is the guide for you, with tips and help for the game you can learn how to make the most amazing restaurant!

RESTAURANT NAME

Make sure you think of a good name when you first start, otherwise it will cost you 10 gems to change it at a later date. You can create your name by going to main (at the bottom left) messages then profile and click change to change the name.

STORM8 ID

You will need to create a storm8 ID to play this game, this is how you add neighbours who can send you items you request, tip you and gift you. You have to provide players with your ID to add you, there is no add me button and they can’t add you using your restaurant name!

To create the ID go to main, social then click invite friends and click the sign up button, it is best if it is short and easy to remember as other players will have to type it in to add you.

You can also connect to facebook to add your facebook friends!

And if you play another teamlava game, for example, bakery story you can use the same ID to make it easier!

ADDING PLAYERS

To be able to add neighbours you need to know their storm8 ID, the easiest way to find this out is from the visitors that write on your wall, they may leave a message saying ‘hey add me….’ or if you view someone’s wall they may have left a message saying ‘thanks for visiting, please add me….’ but you can get players to add you by writing your ID on their walls or your own wall too.

How do I write on my wall?

Go to main, then messages and the first tab is wall, there you can leave a message for other players to see when they visit!

How do I visit a player?

Go to main, then social and you have the choice of community (people who you aren’t friends with yet) and neighbours (players who you are friends with) click visit to visit someone

How do I write on a players wall?

When you visit a player, next to their name at the top is the wall button, click that to post a message!

How do I get to the top of the community list?

You may have noticed the stars next to the players name, the amount of stars is about how sociable you are in the game, when you visit and tip players your star level increases. The more stars you have the more likely you will make it to the top of the list and more people will add you!

GIFTS

You can gift your neighbours once a day, but there is a max on the amount of gifts you can recieve in a day!

TIPPING

You can tip players by clicking on the tables in their restaurant, you can tip 3 tables a day in a community players restaurant and 6 in a neighbours

DESIGN  TAB

In this you will find the tabs for: tables, chairs, wall decor, floor decor, wallpaper, tiles, ovens, counters, chests/expansions

TABLES AND CHAIRS

There are loads of different tables and chairs to choose from, when you first start the game you should stick to the cheapest so you can get as many places to sit as possible. You need a table and a chair together to make a suitable place for a customer to sit. You may have noticed the heart at the top of your screen, that is about the happiness of the customers- you are trying to achieve 100 but this can decrease if there aren’t enough places to sit or any food avaliable to eat.

WALL DECOR

These are items that are hung on the wall of your restaurant, they aren’t the most important thing to spend money on when you first start the game but as you increase the items will get better and more expensive.

FLOOR DECOR

These are items that stand on the floor, they again aren’t the most important thing to buy during the early stages of the game. Most of the items you get as prizes for completing goals are floor displays so can be found towards the end of the floor decor tab.

WALLPAPER

Wallpaper comes as individual strips so you can mix and match colours and the wall doesn’t have to be all the same colour!

TILES

These again come as individual tiles!

OVENS

With every level increase in the game you get the chance to add more ovens to your restaurant, with different recipes to create.

How do I create a recipe?

Click on the oven, click on the recipe you want to make- they all have times when the recipe will be done by so pay attention to that and a price it will cost to make the recipe. For most of the ovens you need to prepare the ingredients, to do this you will see a picture of an ingredient in a circle you tap on it twice then another ingredient will appear and you do the same again. Now the recipe will be cooking.

How do I cancel a recipe?

After you have done the steps above if you no longer want the recipe to cook then click on the oven twice and a menu will come up, click start a new recipe to cancel it.

What happens if I leave an item cooking for too long?

It depends how long the item has been cooking, if it is an hour item and you have left it for 3 hours then it will be ruined and you will have to throw it away, you will lose the money it costs to make the recipe and will have to start again, but if an items cooking time is 5 hours and you leave it 9 hours it should be find! But try not to leave it too much longer, it will be ruined after 10 hours.

There are loads of  different ovens that are unlocked as you level up, some require you to build them so you have to collect parts (there is a symbol of a hammer in the corner of these items pictures)

How do I build an oven?

Once you have brought the oven it will appear as a box, click on this and it will open up the menu to show you what items you need, you can either buy for gems or ask neighbours for items- you can only request from a neighbour once a day so if it needs many different things and you have lots of neighbours you can spread out the requests to cover all of the items.

Once you have all the pieces click the build it button and it will turn into the oven!

COUNTERS

You need counters to place your food on so that customers can buy it, if you don’t have another counters then a pop up message will tell you that you can’t place the item, you really should have a counter per oven.

If you have 2 or more of the same food on different counters and you need a counter to place something, all of the same item will usually be placed on one counter.

CHESTS/EXPANSIONS

Chests cost gems to buy and contain special items that otherwise wouldn’t be avaliable, they come in many different themes- browse this tab to see them all.

Expansions are how you increase the size of your restaurant, you can buy them with coins or gems and you can find them in this tab or by clicking on the arrows on the floor outside your restaurant. They increase dramatically in price each time so it can take a long time to get a massive place!

COINS

Coins are what you use to buy most products and what customers will pay you in.

GEMS

Gems are what you use to buy premium items, you can get them from levelling up, making a recipe a certain number of times or you can buy them for real money.

Both coins and gems can be purchased for real money, but if you play the game well it is possible to not spend a penny of real money on it!

I think that is most of the game covered, if I think of anything else I will update this post 🙂

If you have any questions- feel free to post them in the comment section below

My storm8 ID is charlyisgr8, please add me

I hope this helps!

The Sims Freeplay- Hobbies: Figure Skating

ICE HOCKEY RINK – ADULT, TEEN AND PRETEEN SIMS – PRIZES: SKI LIFT KEY, FIGURE SKATING OUTFITS AND 3LP

Once you have completed the An Alien Concept: Weather Machines Quest and built the Snow Park your adult, teen and preteen sims can figure skate on the 4 dark patches on the ice hockey rink.

TIP: if you have a swimming pool at one of your houses and place the weather machine you unlock in the quest and set it to snow your sims can ice skate on the frozen pool so you can have as many sims as you want figure skating!

The skating option is:

  • Figure Skating- 12 hours

image

After the time has passed come back and click the exclamation mark above your sims head to find one of the figure skating medals collectibles. Every time your sim figure skates their hobby skill level up percentage will increase, once you reach 100% you will level up, there are 6 levels. You need to reach level 6 to be able to unlock all of the figure skating collectibles, once unlocked you will be able to find them.

The table below shows the level up percentage:

This may change in future updates

 LEVEL Figure Skate
1-2 150%
2-3 133%
3-4 100%
4-5 50%
5-6 25%

For example you would need to figure skate 2 times to reach level 5 from level 4

NOTE: it says 150% but you will start from 0% at level 2

The next table shows you for each level what figure skating collectibles you unlock (so you can then find those ones too) and also the level up reward that a second and future sims will receive when they level up in this hobby:

LEVEL  TITLE 1st TIME LEVEL UP UNLOCKS 2nd+ TIMES LEVEL UP REWARD
1 Amateur Final Moment of Dignity, Silver Stumble and The Golden Spiral are unlocked in the hobby collection
2 Rarely Upright Platinum Princess is now unlocked in the hobby collection 250XP
3 Semi-Skilled Encouragement Award and Coveted Topple are now unlocked in the hobby collection 500XP
4 Skilled Heavenly Peak and The G. Grandeur are now unlocked in the hobby collection S750
5 Advanced Blind Goose and Silver Teapot are now unlocked in the hobby collection 10,000 Town Value
6 Skater Prestige Rare Swan and Simtown Splendour are now unlocked in the hobby collection.

You can now complete the collection!

1LP

NOTE: only the first sim completing this hobby needs to get to level 6 to unlock all the collectibles, future sims will be able to find any collectible even if they are only on level 1 in this hobby

You won’t find a new collectible each time, you will get repeats, if this happens just keep going, you will find them eventually! If it is still taking too long you can use the lucky spin on the row where you cannot find the item, this will cost LPs, when you click on the LP button it will clear the row and give you a random collectible on that row so you aren’t guaranteed a new item (you will get back any other collectibles you already had in that row) Need to earn some LPs to use the lucky spin?

The completed figure skating collection is shown below, once you complete the collection you need to click ‘figure skate again’ or ‘start a new collection’ at the top of the hobby collection screen, this clears the board so you can complete the collection again to earn more rewards (you will only get the option to restart the hobby collection when you have completed the collection):

You will earn XPs when you complete a row in the hobby but to complete the collection you need to find all 12 of the collectibles

The rewards for completing this collection are the ski lift key, figure skating outfits and 3LP:

image

  •  The second time unlocks the figure skating outfits, which can be found in the wardrobe for preteens, teens and adults under outfits once you have built the costume and swim store

  • From the third time onwards each time you complete the collection you will earn 3LP

The Sims Freeplay- Promotions R Us Store

The promotions r us store contains items to help your sims get a promotion in their careers as well as hobby items.

The shop can be found in front of the park, next to the pet shop. You will need to build the store before you can buy items from it (the cost varies depending on how many businesses you have already built but this post will give you some idea of how much it will cost you)

The first task in the Need for Steed Quest requires a telescope so make sure you have built the store before you start this quest

You can’t actually enter the store but when you click on it you will see two tabs at the top, one for career items and one for hobby items:

Career Items:

You won’t see all these items in your store until you have unlocked them, click on the links below to find out how to start each career

Using career items will increase your sims career bar faster than just going to work so they can get a promotion quicker. There are currently no items for the Police or Medical Staff Professions

Hobby Items:

You won’t see all these items in your store until you have unlocked them, click on the links below to find out how to start each hobby

*these are hobby items that are only available while an event is available
^these items are only available if you complete the Road to Fame Quest in the time limit

To buy an item click on the item then the green tick to buy, you will then be asked to confirm you want to buy it:

image

If you decide you don’t want to buy an item you can remove it from your cart by clicking on it at the bottom of your screen and clicking the red cross to remove it:

Once the store is built you will be able to access the Hobby and Career Items tab in your home store to buy items directly from buy mode. You will also be able to find any item you have brought from the promotions r us store in the Hobby and Career Items tab of your inventory:

image

Why don’t I have some of these items in my store? Before you will be able to buy a lot of these items you will need to unlock the hobby or career by building a certain place or by completing a quest. Click on the links below for more information:

Careers –  Hobbies

Can’t afford the store? This post may help you earn some simoleons!

The Sims Freeplay- Guide to Infant Sims

Adding/Creating an Infant NeedsActivities for InfantsRelationshipsAgeing an Infant

Adding/Creating an Infant

To unlock babies you need to complete the Two and a Half Sims Quest first. Once the quest is complete you need to place a cot in a house, you don’t need two sims who are married anymore but there needs to be 3 or less sims living there (4 sims in a house is the maximum) When you see the blue add sim circle above the cot you are ready!

Add a Baby will be the first option you see but once you have completed the A Bump-y Ride Quest your sims will be able to get pregnant so when you click on a crib you will see two other options:

  • Add a Baby– costs 3LP (will cost simoleons once you have completed the Life Dreams and Legacies Quest, the simoleon cost varies depending on how many other sims you have in your town) It takes 24 hours for the baby to arrive.
  • Pregnancy– costs 5LP and your sim will develop an expanding baby bump, after 6 days the baby will arrive.
  • Pregnancy Event– costs 2LP and your sim will develop an expanding baby bump while completing daily goals and other sims can complete support tasks, if you complete all the tasks and goals in the 9 day time limit your new baby will receive baby bonuses, if not your baby will still arrive after 9 days.

Read my Guide to Pregnancy for more information on the two pregnancy options

Once the baby arrives you can change their name, choose their gender, eye, skin and hair colour and outfit.

You cannot change the name, gender or skin colour again unless you use the ultimate makeover which costs 12LP

Needs

and how to fulfil them

An adult, teen or senior is needed to help keep your infant happy (except bladder as they will go in their diaper when they need to!)

  • Hunger- adult selects Give Food on infant /infant selects Be Fed on adult
  • Bladder- the infant will go in their diaper when they need to, this will decrease their hygiene need
  • Energy- infant selects Go to Sleep or Hibernate on themselves
  • Hygiene- adult selects Change Diaper on infant /infant selects Have Diaper Changed on adult
  • Social- adult selects Cuddle on infant /infant selects Be Cuddled on adult
  • Fun- adult selects Entertain on infant /infant selects Be Entertained on adult

Activities for Infants

Interactions

Crib Interactions:

The first picture above is the interactions you get when a baby clicks on an adult and the second picture is when an adult clicks on a baby

  • Sofa- Sit with Infant and Relax with Infant

They can also travel to other sims houses while holding the baby (they will only count as one sim unless they put the baby down)

Having trouble using the highchair? Make sure your sim can stand behind the highchair so they can put the infant in it, if they can’t blue footprints will appear:

Once your sim puts the infant down on the floor (let infant crawl option) the infant can click on objects around the house to get interactions:

Interactions if you are the baby and you click on the baby:

Ultimate Makeover– this allows you to change the name, gender or skin colour of the infant for 12LP

Have Birthday– This will turn the baby into a toddler (you have to bake a birthday cake first and have completed the quest for toddlers)
